Bryan, the most likely candidate to take over BC Rail has been CN, but nothing has been resolved yet.

Last I heard was that British Columbia didn't want CN to take over BCR. There is also some trouble with the proposed CN, Ontario Northland merger. Seems that one is going to fall through as well.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe - went to the Santa Fe Historical Society's annual convention in Ft. Worth and heard nothing but negative comments about BNSF, even tho' the BNSF had put themselves out to provide an excursion train, and I'll give you 10 to 1 odds that the BNSF lost money on the deal. Mergers are a fact of business life and the modeling community need to get accustomed to it.

CP has always been somewhat of an underdog compared to CN but also they have absorbed my all time favorites the D&H and little known NAPIERVILLE JUNCTION it was the D&H's Canadian subsidiary.

This is Model Railroader Magazine forum, isn't it? My feeling is if I see really well done model railway layout, I don't care what road name is running on it, as long as the livery color scheme isn't ugly. Something that really catches the eye is always nice, like CN's stripes. Some may find that ugly. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,,, or so I've heard.

Tough Choice, but based on Tucson Arizona, and Southern California along the Sunset line in Puente, has to be my favorite.

ATSF is my second favorite, to Pasadena, through Arcadia the passenger line to Chicago area.
