Williamsport and North Branch
Founded 1864, running on wood rails for 3 miles, grew up to about 60 miles total trackage and sold for scrap in 1937. Was a little valley's prime support for 60 years with mountian work, regular passanger service, a tie between two major lines, freight was lumber and coal and some farm products with the transfer tonnage. Was even dual gague for 2.4 miles to support some lumber products. Every form of modling except 100 car long haul stuff. I know I'm getting old but I remember seeing them come through town.

Boston & Maine; Grew up in Wakefield MA on the Reading line, Watched trains from overpass down the street, Rode steam into Boston (engine backed into Boston) each Christmas to see train layouts, Saw Flying Yankee Zephyer on way to high school every day, Rode RDCs to college, had one ride on the Talgo train. Liked the Minuteman and McGinnis paints.

definately have to go with the new york central here...due to the fact that i have lived all my life in syracuse on the famous water level route and the highway that i drive everyday was where the original elevated line that passed through syracuse... carried the famous 20th century limited..(the passanger station is still there along with one of the old freight stations)....i also model the nyc on my HO layout along with the likes of erie lackawanna and the prr....awesome looking passenger trains to model...and don't forget the hudsons!!...[^]

The N&W of course . From the begining the railroad with the passenger in mind. what if the flag had not fallen and passenger service discontinued what would the trains look like now?

I had to vote "other" due to the obvious oversight of the plain vanilla MoPac. Locomotive's were dipped blue with safety stripes. Cabooses were dipped red as God intended cabooses to be. Very few frills like dynamic brakes or fancy oscillating lights.

Great Northern

Man, you have to love the Goat!!! Throw in the CB&Q and ATSF to give the greatest RR in History [:D]

But GN is my favorite.
