Williamsport and North Branch <br />Founded 1864, running on wood rails for 3 miles, grew up to about 60 miles total trackage and sold for scrap in 1937. Was a little valley's prime support for 60 years with mountian work, regular passanger service, a tie between two major lines, freight was lumber and coal and some farm products with the transfer tonnage. Was even dual gague for 2.4 miles to support some lumber products. Every form of modling except 100 car long haul stuff. I know I'm getting old but I remember seeing them come through town.
