Hey guys -
How's things today? Just a few quick responses.....

For those who are offering me any items, I'm going to make it fair to start off with and give everyone a 'heads-up' that I'll be 'sharing the wealth' with everyone. So, with that said....

sNOAH - Send me 25 cars of ballast

Sierrarr - Send me 10 each of rail and ballast

Fergie / Inch - Just let me know when this is to arrive. Fergie, let me know when you want this forewarded on to you.

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010

I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017

Ok, the 44 tonner and one car of asbestos is on the interchange track. We have some power in reserve, so not really in need of the MP15DC, but thanks anyway.

We have 4 RS3's to be shipped sometime this month all of which need overhauled, will advise when interchanged. The F units will probably go out next month or so, will advise when budget and power needs will allow this.

Counter Weight

Ok, 10 cars on the interchange track, in addition to what was picked up this AM. Are the coal hoppers empties? We ship out coal in addition to copper and gold ore. If this is the case, then we will be happy to load them with whatever grade of coal you or your customer(s) desire. Looks like the asbestos can be split between you and nharrison21. BTW, let me know if you can use the copper ore, this will need to be refined further for industrial use. Either that or it can be done by one of our offline customers and forwarded as copper ready for industrial use. Can the Mint use it?

PS. Please note the correct spelling is twcenterprises (no "o")

Recap

11 cars and one wrecked 44 tonner set out on interchange track this PM.

13 loads set out Sun. PM were picked up this AM.

I will fill this traffic if it is agreeable. I model late steam but for purpose of this interchange thread I will be more than happy to take the traffic.

What do you want in return? Emptys or Reloads? (If reloads with what?)

I consider those loads of coal inbound, I can load them back with whatever ore you can find (Copper etc)

I will have to spend time thinking how to use the ore in a foundry situation. (Copper?) and find a provider who can use the resulting material.. I think Ken and one other railroad opened a plant capable of creating wire and cable.

1 load of foam is on its way. Send the soybeans and I'll reload the cars with soy bean meal.

Seeing as how we do have available a copper mill available offline, we can provide copper wire, sheets, rolls, round stock, tubes, pipe, etc. We have copper and gold ore, how about either bauxite (aluminum ore), or silver ore? I think we have a customer in the state that can use one of these.

Ken

Do you handle copper ore?

Doesn't matter. I scavenge empties from Southern Railway except for our returning hoppers and armored Pullman (on lease ath this time). Could use plastic pellets for the foam plant. Boxcar or covered hopper, either way is fine with them.

I have plenty of 34' open top hoppers, not a problem. Gotta load 'em short, though, the bridge on that line is only good for 50 ton loads. I gotta check with the engineering department, but the Jennies may not work on that line, I think we need to use longer cars to spread out the weight on that old bridge. Besides, I save money on per diem charges by using our own cars. You got anything to load in the 34 footers? We can use either Bauxite (aluminum ore) or silver ore.

Should I go ahead and send copper ore in your direction? If so, check with CW to see what to do with finished product.

nharrison21

Copy that on the 44 tonner. Have a bunch of 34' hoppers available for lease, also have some on captive service to CW.

BTW, I may need to have another Pullman or coach fitted with armor for security service, can your shop handle that?

CW

I think you misunderstood me on the Bauxite, I was looking for it to come my way. We can probably load out maybe 100 tons per day on the copper ore. That'll probably refine down to 50-75 tons depending on the purity of the ore. Let me know what form (wire, sheets, tubes, pipe, etc.) to ship it.

Inch53

Soybeans are unloaded and being processed. Should have a reload on Friday. Should I send another load of foam on Friday along with them?

Recap

2 inbound loads received and delivered. No other loads interchanged today.

Whups made a boo boo on the bauxite. However, I can use wire, sheets, tubes, pipe copper. Also in cabling as well.

Im thinking one load each per week for now looks like One gon for wire, covered gon for the sheet and tubes each and pipe small enough for household use on boxcars as well as joint fittings.

Let me know if you were able to cover this order.

Copy that on the armor. Will check with engineering dept. on that.

How about fitting a caboose with bulletproof glass? No need to send the caboose up there, just send us the glass and our crews should be able to install it. Between that and the 1/4" steel siding, that should provide enough protection for our needs.

CW

Can do on the copper. The plumbing grade stuff will be all loaded on one boxcar if that's OK. The wire and cable will be naked wire, no insulation. If electrical wire is needed, I'll need to send the wire and cable to another customer to have the insulation put on and packaged or spooled as appropriate. We can then send these packages and smaller spools with the plumbing items, or the larger spools shipped in a gon. Since we don't have any covered gons (and no way of lifting the cover off of one anyway), we'll ship the sheets and tubes on a flatcar and tarp it.

Ken

Copper ore is loaded on our 34' hoppers, just need the go ahead to send it your way.

Fergie

Appreciate the offer on the Jennies, but our engineering dept. says we'd only be able to load about 30 tons in each unless we handle them singly or with idler cars over our old bridge. We can use 34' hoppers with 50 tons each because they help spread out the weight. Our bridge can only handle maybe a 75 ton car by itself with an idler car and a light locomotive (44 tonner) moving it. Ah, such it is with older branchlines...

Inch

Will send out the car of foam and 2 cars of bean meal when they are ready sometime tomorrow.

Recap

No loads interchanged today.

Will do.

I need to see if I can find a supplier or establish a industry to create spools, wire insulation and or asociated hardware.

If anyone has this capability of any or all of the above, I would like to make a connection (Pun not intended) as I do have the wood and small fittings (Nuts and bolts) that can supply such a operation.

That could have been a LCL shipment in a Boxcar... Nharrison21 LOL

Your traffic will be reflected in my sunday evening report weekly until you either make changes to it or cease.

twcenterprises

I did some thinking regarding the copper. I propose we split the business down the rails both ways..

1- I supply the spools that are made near the sawmill.
2- I will also supply the fittings (Small fasteners etc)

3- I propose you find a way to insulate the wire
4- I propose you place the insulated wire onto the spools and ship back.

I dont have a problem regarding the gondola situation as long as the wire is in it's finished form. No use covering those up if they are going to be strung for the next 10 years off telephone poles.

To all others,

I recently started to produce telephone poles. They are 40 feet in length and have 4 loads ready by sunday night. Please let me know if you would like to have some.

OK 100 tons of copper ore headed to you, loaded in 2 34' open hoppers. Will send 2 more loads about middle of next week. Please refine this into copper wire and forward to Southwire (near Atlanta). They will put insulation on it & will forward to CW when done.

CW

OK send the spools ready to use to Southwire (near Atlanta). That will be a good return load for a boxcar. They are going to receive the bare wire from Ken and ship the finished wire to you. I'll have them load it in gons, I'll take a return load of poles.

nharrison21

Got the glass. My crews have all this weekend to install it. Thanks.

Any word on the 44 tonner?

Fergie

I forget how many hundred 34' hoppers we have (own), but they're all in the 12,000 number series. I remember seeing #12,834 the other day.

How many do you need?

Inch

2 cars bean meal and 1 car foam enroute to you. I expect I'll see your loads get to me over the weekend.

recap

2 loads of copper ore set out
1 car foam insulation
2 covered hoppers soybean meal

5 cars total on interchange track.
