Alice's Restaurant.  That first came out when I was in college.  I know I had an LP of it, and there's probably a CD upstairs now.

I have it on my I-Tunes.

I have everything on my I-Tunes.

I listened today while I made the gravy.

Good Evening,

Not quite supper time here but soon.

I was looking at old cars for sale ads in Canada and came across a nice '55 Monarch 2dr. H.T. right here in Winnipeg at a good price. A Monarch is a Canadian built Mercury with different grille and side chrome. Wish I had a very large garage and a lot of money to fund a car collection.

Have a good evening,

CN Charlie

How about an after dinner film from the Big Island?

Hi Ed,

Thanks for another great video! I thought the music score was a bit too dramatic but the cinematography was excellent.

Cheers!!

Alice's Restaurant.  That first came out when I was in college.  I know I had an LP of it, and there's probably a CD upstairs now.  It was traditional to listen every Thanksgiving.

Ever been to the town of Stockbridge, Massachusetts?  It's a real place, and I've even driven past that restaurant.  Norman Rockwell is from there, and his art museum is there.  He used local people as models for his famous works, and you can still recognize some of their descendents just walking through town.  Tanglewood Music Festival is there.  The open-air Shakespeare plays have moved indoors, but they used to be very special.  There's even a scenic railway nearby.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

I haven't had time to read the forum for the last couple of weeks owing to my mother's passing.

Tim, I'm very sorry to hear of your mother's death.

Track fiddler
my buddy Erv texted me and said KQRS ,Alice's Restaurant at noon.  A beer was cracked with the radio put on in the food prep began. Haven't heard that long song for years

That brings back memories.   Everybody on my college dorm floor had a copy.  I haven't heard that since then.  Late 1960s?

Well, Thanksgiving kind of starts the Christmas Season, so let me get a spiced eggnog for everyone on my tab.

For some reason, I don't like eggnog.  I'll have a Bloody Mary or two instead.

Well that was impeccable timing.  Judy called me into the kitchen at 5 minutes to 12, just then my buddy Erv texted me and said KQRS ,Alice's Restaurant at noon.  A beer was cracked with the radio put on in the food prep began.

Haven't heard that long song for years and by the time the 20 minutes song was over our prep was done.

I guess there's one plus to Thanksgiving in the pandemic.  Only cooking for two, the prep was lickety splitYes

Now I'm watching the ball game with my ice cold beerBow   Life is GoodYes

I'll pop in later.

Hello all,

I haven't had time to read the forum for the last couple of weeks owing to my mother's passing.  It has been a real treat getting caught up.  As John (York 1) recently observed, this is a wonderful thread and I wanted to thank all of the regular contributers who help make it so.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Good Morning,

Happy Thanksgiving to all south of the border. Sounds like most of you are having a quiet dinner but that is probably just as well in the circumstances.

I too like potatoes but don't really eat them much. They sure have become expensive this year. I bought some russets for baking and they were nearly a dollar each even though they are grown here in Manitoba.

At the rate I post it will take me another 10 years or more to reach that milestone even though I have been posting for 13 years now. Keep up the good work though as I do enjoy the posts.

Another grocery pick-up today. I haven't been in a grocery store since last March. We order on line and pick-up at the store. It really is a slick system.

Time for more coffee.

Congratuations!  You should be close to another milestone, if I remember.  Aren't you close to not having construction people in your house?

They are supposed to be here on Tuesday 01/DEC/2020, but I am not holding my breath. According to the city's website my permit is still in final review.

It has been both exhilarating and exhausting these past few weeks watching Kevin posting to every conceivable thread, often as many as 25 posts per day, to achieve this milestone.

I have been posting a lot, but not in an effort to reach a milestone.

Since I have no income, I am not shopping on eBay and online model train retailers. I am not making photographs on my 30 by 30 photo diorama any more, and it is gone. My workbench has been disassembled and moved into the storage room. The Covid resurgance has paused my wargaming group again.

This forum is just about my only hobby outlet now, and my only activity on the internet as well.

As long as I am not responding to questions in the DCC or Prototype sections, where I have absolutely no knowledge, we should be OK. If you see me active on threads about DCC controls or prototype trains, knock me over the head and drag me away.

Congratuations!  You should be close to another milestone, if I remember.  Aren't you close to not having construction people in your house?

I think I need to pick up my pace in posting.  At my rate, it will be eight more years for me to reach 10,000.

Recently however we have copped out. We are now buying pre-made mashed potatoes

Dave, a while back my wife bought some "Bob Evans" premade mashed potatoes.  Being a mashed potato connoisseur, I didn't even want to try them.

Amazingly, they were very good!  In fact, they were just as good as the mashed potatoes we've been making for years.  And they take five minutes in the microwave!

Hi TF,

You can never have too many mashed potatoes! Traditionally Dianne and I would buy a 10 lb. bag of Yukon Gold potatoes and turn them all into mashed potatoes

You got that right Dave!

10 lbs!  You are the new found Potato ChampionLaugh  I used to think I was getting carried away with a 5 lb bag.  But they're gone in 2 days.  Maybe I should start doing 10 so I can have potatoes for a better part of a weekDinner

I as well can't stand run of the mill instant potatoes.  Diaper slopIck!Laugh

Don't you think it would have been a little more appropriate if they would have at least waited till after Thanksgiving?

It would have been more appropriate if they had given the turkey a shotgun so that it could have defended itself.
