I just returned from the dentist. My whole mouth is numb.

Had a filling replaced last week.  Was told specifically to watch out if I ate anything as to avoid chewing the side of my mouth or tongue.  Followed instructions diligently.  Couldn't understand why the food seemed to have something rubbery in it.  Figured out that I was chewing my bottom lip.  Just now beginning to heal.

The technician told me that she hosted her first Thanksgiving dinner last week and had 20 people over. Great... I might as well have attended a super-spreader event.

Must be one of the true non-believers with absolutely no consideration for anyone else.

Hello Railfans!

Just thought Id drop a HOWDY! on you folks today. Hope everyone is well. othing going on - just stopping by.

Saw a few snow flakes today, odd that that is. I doubt this place is in any danger of accumulation, it hasnt snowed here since I bought a snow blower 2 years back. Go figure!

I saw yall pineing over some pecan pie. Im more of a cake person myself than pies, but if theres any left, Ill take a slab. Sans the ice cream though. Thats more of an apple pie thing.

Picked up some glue today, and my truck and coupler screws came in. Might spend a lil time at the workbench tonite.

Have a good evening all!

Douglas

I just returned from the dentist. My whole mouth is numb. The root canal was no where near as bad as I have always heard.

The technician told me that she hosted her first Thanksgiving dinner last week and had 20 people over.

Great... I might as well have attended a super-spreader event. She did have on a mask and face shield. I hope I was not exposed to anything.

Water Level Route

Geez I missed a lot over the holiday weekend.

SeeYou190
Is there a worse pie for you?

While pecan is one of my favorites, my wife begged me to make a probably worse for you version that she loves...chocolate pecan pie.

The GF makes the desserts.  She made a pumpkin pie with pecan topping.  She ate a couple of pieces and tossed it.  She said it was terrible.  I'm diabetic so I probably wouldn't have more than a small piece anyway, and I'm not a pumpkin pie fan either.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

It is the last day of Hurricane Season... YAY! We were only effected by one storm this year, Eta, but it got us twice. Grazed us, then turned around and swung again. As active as this year was overall, it was pretty much a non-event for Florida. I sure do feel sorry for those fellows is Louisiana.

We have a cold front coming through, our first real one of the year. The first three fronts that made it here knocked the humidity out of the air, but this one will drop the temperature quite a bit.

We are in for thunderstorms for the next couple of hours. It should be past by the time of my dental appointment. I would hate to be in the chair if they lose power.

I hope all are safe and happy... onward to December, then finally, the end of 2020!

It is into the evening here.  I had better jump on a fast ship from New Zealand to the UK.

The journey is calm.

A quick stop in Dubai.

Then the Suez Canal.  Egyptian Railways train.

Good morning.  Our last day in New Zealand.  I still hope one day to visit in person, but that is looking more and more unlikely.

I had a friend who loved to travel, and he had been to New Zealand and loved it.  Some months ago, he was scheduled to have heart surgery.  The day before, he was out for his morning walk.  He was at the top of the pedestrian foot bridge over the BNSF track in our town.  He died on the bridge from a heart attack.  Not much connection to this story and NZ, but just a little.  He loved to talk about his travels.

It's good to hear Ulrich hopefully has something to bring some happiness into his life again.

Is this the right thing to say, Bear?  "She'll be right."

Good morning all.  A cold and wet day today.  The temperature hovering at freezing.

Thanks Bear for the interesting month in New Zealand.  A hard  act to follow.

Delivery day today   with groceries and other items.  The gardener is cutting back the roses etc. ready for the winter.

Hopefully some running of trains later.

Thoughts and Peace to All who Require.

(Personally, if I was allowed, I’d put the Hokey Pokey on the Chocolate Pudding).

Yup! That sounds like a plan! Every once in a while we all have to have dessert for the main course!!DinnerLaughLaughLaugh

The video of the steamers was great! I find watching steam locomotives operate with all their belching and hissing to be enthralling. The sheer complexity, both with regard to the mechanicals and the operation just floors me!

Thanks Bear!

In a couple of hours’ time it will be 1 December NZDT, so as this is the last evening of the Diners visit down under and as there has been talk about desert, please help yourselves to some Self Saucing Chocolate Pudding, or some Hokey Pokey Ice Cream if that’s more to your taste. (Personally, if I was allowed, I’d put the Hokey Pokey on the Chocolate Pudding).

Of course, being completely self-indulgent, this last video predominately features my favourite class of locomotive, the NZGR Ja 4-8-2, including a quick lesson on how to drive it.

I got a Christmas email from Ulrich a couple of days ago. I'm sure others received it too. He and Petra have had a rough year but there was definitely a positive tone to his message. Apparently they are getting closer to making their long desired move to better accommodations. I wish them well.

I actually worked on a couple of models tonight. I haven't done that in a while.

I removed the bridge ties that came with the four Walthers through plate girder bridges because I am going to use Micro Engineering bridge track instead. I don't know how prototypical it will be to have the ties follow the curve of the rails on the bridges, but it will make laying the track so much easier. I was glad that I had applied a minimum of glue to the bridge tracks because they popped off fairly easily. Normally I use far more glue than is necessary.

I also repaired a P2K 52' Canadian Pacific that I recently got off of eBay. It arrived with two broken stirrups, a missing grab iron, loose brake parts and a loose coupler cover. I stole the necessary grabs and stirrups from another P2K kit. The fact that P2K supplied extra detail parts was a real bonus in this case because there are still sufficient parts in the raided kit to build it properly. Installing the stirrups was a real pain because I managed to break one when I was removing it from the sprue, and the other one jumped out of my fingers so it took me about 10 minutes to find it.

None of the above is earth shattering. The only significant part of it is that I finally got my butt in gear as far as working with models is concerned.

Cheers!!

Ed,

Thanks for the warm up video! It was very entertaining. I got a real kick out of the very British expressions used throughout the film.

I have been sanding drywall joint compound most of the day, and my shoulder is now very sore.

I tried to call a couple of nurserys about a Christmas Palm, but no one answered their phones. I guess they are closed on Sunday.

Dentist appointment tomorrow.

Hitting the rack... I hope all are well.

Ed, thanks for volunteering to start things off.

No worries! Tomorrow already!!

Just looking forward to some good food, beer and films!

So we'll have to switch the Diner over to vacuum brakes!

Cheers, Ed

Good Evening,

Henry, sure hope your dog didn't tear his ACL. We had that repaired on one of our dogs but after a couple of weeks he was right as rain. We thought Robbie had torn his but the vet said it was likely a small tear and with small dogs sometimes it will heal on its own. After about 2 months of no running, no jumping and no playing it finally seems to be ok. Now it is 'just' the cancer surgery.

Well time for tea.

Okay Gang,

We have several votes in favour of moving the Diner to Great Britain for December therefore I would like to make a formal recommendation to do just that.

Ed, thanks for volunteering to start things off.

Cheers!!

I let Toby out to greet my SIL.  He loves her but decided he loved freedom more.  He took off at warp speed.  He would then stop to sniff, but when I got close, warp speed again.  I was surprised he was so fast at his age.  Then he yelped and would not put weight on his hind leg.  I think he tore his doggy ACL.

An old friend called to tell me a Labor and Delivery secretary passed away from scleroderma.  I spent many hours on L&D and I should remember this woman, but I do not.  That's a little scarey.

He takes two tests a day for Covid:

Test 1, if he wakes up in the morning he passes.

Test 2, if his morning constitutional smells, he passes the second test.

 Eveing Diners

Flo, give the gang some left overs and a Beer and Dirk and Robbie a dog treat.

Sorry I have been MIA. Not a lot worth talking about.

Thanksgiving was great! Dirk, Sue and I enjoyed have Sharwn and Sharyon over for dinner. Dirk was on his best behavior! He was slipped a few pices of turkey and pie crust under the table.

Work Front. Jerry the Dunce had a great Black Friday with $6100.00 in sales! That ment I had a mess on my hands Saturday! Sigh After two hours I was still finding mistakes and fixing them!

Wife hording. She is slowily picking and choosing what to get rid of. Sadly I know she does not realizes what I expect.

Credit Score I now up to 754! Big Smile 2 years ago I was a 653 so I have made some big head way.

Later Ken and Dirk says Woof, Woof!

Over the pond with North Brit seems to be okay with me.

Even though he's a little new around here I kind of like that guy! Yes

And I like cherry cheesecake if you ever had that one.  And if you didn't, you should have!

That is what makes it so wonderfull!  YUM!  Oh and put that vanilla ice cream (two scoops please) right on top!  Ya gotta have some of each in every bite, don't ya know!

Oh yeah, I know.

The warm pecan pie at the Marietta Diner in Georgia with vanilla ice cream was a truly decadent delight.

Afternoon folks!!!

Is there a worse pie for you?

Probably not except Walnut pie is likely as bad.  BUT!  That is what makes it so wonderfull!  YUM!  Oh and put that vanilla ice cream (two scoops please) right on top!  Ya gotta have some of each in every bite, don't ya know!

I am about ready to get in the Tesla and head over to my son's house with a huge pot of turkey soup made from the remains of the poor turkey that died for our Thanksgiving feast.  That will be all of the turkey I will have for a few weeks at least....  Hope Christmas will be ham!

Sun is shining here in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS today so I just finished my 5k run for the day.  Nice out and not too cold either (55°F).

My wife loves pecan pie.  About the only thing I eat that is sweet is ice cream, so no pecan pie for me.
