Good Evening!
While the day started out quite nice, the weather decided to make a U-turn early on and it´s been raining since. Did I say raining? Well, when it rains, it pours! Mother Nature needs a drink - May has been way too dry!
I cut myself while shaving this morning and it took a blooming half an hour for the bleeding to stop! I think I´ll better give up shaving! Other than that, I feel better.
Frito pie? Watch this!
Bon appetite!
Happy times!

Prayers for those who need them and for those who don't.
I am checking in it has been a bit, I was taking some time off the internet. We think I had the CV back in Feb. It was a very light version if so. felt crappy, had a cough and overnight I had a fever, just burning up, Next morning it was gone, I was fine and that was that.
NOt much else going on we went down to the Southen Command post over memeorial day after they lifted travel ban. No other property damage and I installed a security system.
I need to tune my car up as it keeps throwing a missifre code every so often.
I need a Frito Pie for lunch.

Garry, your tank cars look like they're so much easier to pull than mine!

Good morning
Thank you for the prayers of support for Kelly. We remain hopeful. Our prayers go out for others in need.
Everyone stay safe.

Good evening .
Brent ..... I'm very concerned about you. Praying it is not the Corona Virus, and it is some other bug that will go away soon. In any case, please keep us informed. ..... That is an amazing old picture of the trestle being built.
Stix and Jan .... That is interesting history about Major Bong.
Here is the North Coast Limted on the Burlington on its way to St. Paul where the Burlington E-units will be replaced with Northern Pacific F-units for its trip to Seattle.
Everybody ...... Have a nice night.
Br. Elias, TF, prayers for your family.
In addition to being in charge of the B-17 program at MacDonald Aircraft in St.Louis, Dad was also in charge of tool and dye for the first jet fighter this country built.
Major Bong put the aircraft into a dive around 10,000 feet, it was determined the controll surfaces locked up from the pressure of the dive, he was unable to recover. Dad always had a hard time talking about the accident.

Good evening
You have it good Ulrich. I'm glad I consider myself fortunate as you. All these years I've been hearing from you talking about your Petra and now spelled out a little more. Some men live and in between never find a woman as good as yours, ... Your a lucky man Ulrich
Dinner was good. Not as good as yours
Paul, ... Twin Cities and Western Railroad. I see them all the time mainly in Hopkins Minnesota. They do mimic the colors of the old DMIR closely.
My good friend Gary, host of my Model Railroad Club has TC&W. I have sought out after them but cannot get them as they are not available in N-scale.
I would love to add them to my roster and good to hear from you Paul.

Hurt my rib's when SIL came over to cut the grass. Dirk and I where sitting on the front pourch waitting for Shawn. Dirk went nuts and I hurt my rib's holding him. Strange part, he likes Shawn when he is in the house? Shawn outside he goes into Kill Mode.
Later, Ken and Bad Boy Dirk.

Hey TF, I've just checked the Choo Choo Bar & Grill on Google street view, which seems to be split at the road junction from an earlier era, to more recent times. There are good reviews, but I cannot access the website due to my being in the wrong location. I like it's being right next to the Railroad.
Incidently the TC&W vids were good and there are lots more to go at. Paul

Track fiddlerSince I cook 90% of the meals around here I'm going to get busy with some comfort food.
With Petra having taught future chefs the basics of food preparation, I don´t even dare to cook a meal for us, unless there is an emergency of some sort. In our marriage of nearly 36 years now, we have come to an agreement, that she does the cooking and I do the eating and the cleaning up of the kitchen.

Judy is looking at me like this I don't think it's me she's looking at like that. Although I wish she was. Since I cook 90% of the meals around here I'm going to get busy with some comfort food.

Now I'm going like this
Just a little short trek out of Duluth to Superior Wisconsin. There is a Diner I stop at on the way to Judy's Mom's house. It has always reminded me of Jeffrey's Trackside Diner here.
I've always had a good breakfast there but the only difference is none of you have ever been there with me when I stopped there for a short time I know the breakfast would have been funner if you were.
Good afternoon.
Chloe - A nice peppermint iced coffee please. Thanks. Yes Chloe, still not fully over the asthma flare up. (You must have remembered I dislike coffee.)
Lion - Condolences to you and your family.
Brent - Get feeling better!
Ulrich - You also get well! Hopefully the meds will kick it out.
TF - Hopefully your sister-in-law gets feeling better as well. I am trying an essential oil mix currently, and as long as I don't try to overdo my day, it sems to be helping.
Sandjam - I think I will pass on the lime/coconut mix.... I actually am allergic to coconut. Took us a while to figure that one out! We finally put together that anytime we used coconut oil in anything, that's when I was having the issues. I can't even be around the smell anymore.
Ed - Even when I sold the Huskvarmits I disliked their riding mowers. Our congregation went with one a few years back, and it has not been quite right from day 1. (Seems a bit uneasy with the one hill in the lawn we have.) Whenever I help with the yard maintenance there, I run the push mower! Guess I was just spoiled by always having either a Craftsman that was older than me, (from when they were not the MTD stuff), or a JD actually made by JD instead of the MTD crap.
Speaking of, if the Deere is sold by Homedespot or Lowest, it actually is only a green MTD. They are not the same! Get a official, genuine Deere. It's much better!
Trains - Somehow I think I got a defective ESU OEM board in the FVM GP60 i got a litle while back. It won't take programming, nor respond with the decoder tester I have. (Or in the loco, but that's another story.) I shall try swapping her out in a couple of days.
No progress on the loco shell, due to the breathing. (I don't think painting a shell is my best idea at this point.) Did decide exactly which number jumbles will fit each of the hoppers though. Managed to find prototype pics for most of them as the exact number as well.
Health - I think what set me off asthma wise, is between the fact that everything bloomed in a short period in my area, affecting the seasonal allergies, but also the fact we have had to use either the wood pellet stove or the AC every single day, nothing in between. It's either hot, or cold. nothing with a nice happy medium. (And both have been on, then off, then switched back and forth!)
Weather - Hot and extremely humid. Thunderstorms this morning cooled it down for a bit, but now with full sun, it's right back to hot and very humid. The one storm had us a bit concerned, as it was constant thunder, heavy lightning and ZERO wind. It got deadly quiet and still about 5 minutes before it hit, and then all you could hear was a constant rolling thunder until the storm let up. Never did see any wind with it though, which was very odd. (And very disconcerting!)
Hope all are or get well, and all enjoy the day!

Yep. You got it. Good eye. One of my favorite places to go in the Summer Time Mike.
And you got it again. You live in a beautiful state just as mine and there is plenty of other places to go to see the beauty our states have to offer
GMTRacingThe Bong bridge should be named for Dick Bong - WWII ace of aces with 40 to his credit in the Pacific. He was based out of Darwin Au then Port Moresby for most of the time. I read his biography years ago. He was from Wisconsin so I'm unsure of the connection but there is a dearth of other noticable Bongs' out there.
Maj. Bong was from Superior, WI. The bridge goes across the St. Louis river, so it connects Duluth MN to Superior WI...commonly called "The Twin Ports".
BTW he was killed on the day the first A-bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. He was testing a new plane in southern California.
We can always come back to Duluth Superior.
But for now let's just post that old Box Car in Lions backyard in North Dakota.
I just love that old Box Car. She tells a story doesn't She? I visit Her every time I'm in town. Someday I will fix Her broken door for Her.
Coffee in a Sunny Southern mug, please and thanks.
Making a little bit of progress today on the build. Wont be too much longer before I can start on the new additional HO train layout tables.
Got set up to take pics of the old N scale stuff I'll be selling off. Every penny will help.
Healing thoughts to those in need. Take it easy!
Rob
Brent.
Thank you for your words of support.
You take care of yourself Brent as I am worried about you. You will go seek help, God forbid if needed. I enjoy your company around here and wish to continue seeing you, ... Make sure you take care of yourself.
And please do elaborate on that fantastic bridge under construction. I was getting dizzy just looking up at the crane on the end on top.
Wow, what sad news TF and Elias, I hope things turn for the better for your families.
The good Doctor (my wife) thinks I have corona virus. Three nights ago in a matter of 5 minutes I went from feeling pretty good to a raging fever and sweating so much you could ring my cloths out, I was soaking wet. The fever broke in about 4 hours or so and I have been sleeping a lot the last two days. I still have the slightest tickle in my chest and will keep tabs on it. I am in excellent physical condition and that is likely why my fever broke so quickly. I feel pretty good but reading up on how the virus can progress, it can go either way.
One Video I watched, the Dr. was talking about obesity and the Corona virus. He said that eating more than the body needs to sustain itself is like taking Fentanyl when you are not in pain. It may feel good, but it is not healthy. Both can be considered addictions.

My blood pressure is below 110/70 90% of the time and it shot up to 132/73 when my wife took it at the height of my fever. She was on the verge of calling an ambulance for me as I was in a lot of pain but she also figured I would break the fever pretty quick because of being in such good shape. She did keep a close watch though. The severe pain ended as the fever broke, very weird.
I have been enjoying the photos of where we are this month I have been to all those States and they are beautiful places.
I joined a FB group that is all about trackwork only, for such a specialized group it has a lot of members. Who'da thought.
Ticks can be nasty biz. We don't have them out here on the coast, in fact insects of any kind are not really noticable. Flying insects like mosquitos are almost none existent.
I got my one and only ride in an ambulance after I got swarmed by wasp once. I was weed eating and hit an underground nest. I was covered in them all stinging me, so I calmly walked over to the hose and proceeded to hose them off. I started to not feel well and was by myself so I thought a free ambulance ride was in order. The paramedics had me plugged into an IV quickly and the ER Doctors said calling the amblance was the smart thing to do given the # of stings. I was on some nasty steroids for a week.
Ken, look after yourself, I have had many broken bones over the years, it can take a while to heal up the ones that tend to move (like ribs) I always figured two years for the pain to be completely gone for the moving ones.
Well time to go hop on the Deere and mow my acre of lawn and then do more work on the bathroom.
Hope things improve on the health front for those suffering.
All the best to all.
Brent

Good evening everyone. It is tea-time here (18:30) and so Ladies, I wondered if I could have whatever is todays Chef's special, thankyou. Also a glass of Rosie's Old Ale, Barley John's Brew Pub, please.
Lion, I'm sorry to hear of your sad news, but it's nice to read your posts again.
TF, those pictures of Bridges are fantastic. That curved one would be good for say, a Club to try and if someone could replicate an almost miniature, working version of the Lift-up, what a model for Duck-under to allow access into the Trainroom.
We have one like it on Teesside, Middlesbrough near to where I used to live. It is about quarter size of the Duluth one. The Tourist website Hill-walking and Lakes look really good.
Stix, I'm glad someone else can recall that song. It was very catchy and popular in the UK, at the time.
I'm going have a look at the Twin Cities & Western Railroad, see if there is any footage on the Tube. Paul

As long as we are in North Dakota, here is the train signal.
Since the signal is not in use, the head has been turned 90 degrees away from the track that isn't there anymore.
DMVW removed the track but the signal was protecting the junction with the BNSF, so the signal belongs to them and not to the DMVW
