I will tell you Kevin. Judy completely understands where you're coming from.
Her hotel was bought out. It's a big Hotel chain, it's the Hilton. Her friends and management team have been let go. Her boss is one of her best friends and they work so well together and she doesn't know if she has a job anymore because she was not on the renewal roster.
Now get this. The day of the hostile takeover. There was a luncheon and a cake. Judy was the only one that said thank you to the new owners for the food provided.
As far as she's concerned she still has her job but she doesn't know for sure or if she still wants it. If her boss is let go, she dont.
Corporate takeovers suck.

Well, the worst week in my career has ended with the worst day I have ever had. Today is already being called the "Saint Valentine's Day Masacre" in online news blogs.
.
I cannot wait for this chaos to be over and hopefully get back to business as normal.
It is going to take weeks to figure out who is left, who is doing what, and who reports to who.
I lost my manager, his supervisor, and two direct reports. In all, my team lost eight people. This is devastation. I have no idea what workgroup I am in now, or who I report to.

Not a lot happen for the last two I was missing, but what did happen. Well not good.
Wippers died on my Town Car Wednesday after work. Was afraid I have to call my daughter to pick me up. Luckly I had a bottle of Rain X Window Cleaner (Not As Good As The Orginal Rain X) and did make it home.
Part that went bad on the Town Car is discontinued and cannot be bought new. Bob my mechanic was able to rig a toggle switch so they work again. With oil change cost me $150.00 that I did not want to spend, well oil change was due in 300 miles so guess it was not that bad.
Rob While I was glad to see you post I am sadden by the circumstance. Hope for good news on the Biopsy!
Ulrich give Petra a from me as well! Only 63 years young, you craddle robber you!
My wife will be 69 this Saturday. Yep day after Valentine Day. So it is a bouble Whammy for me. Took her for a second time to a Mexican Resturant that is Ok. She loves it so what the heck.

Since there has been discussion on the tower in Vancouver...
I visited Vancouver last year and had the chance to go up in the tower, so I took it. Just so happens to command a spectacular view of Vancouver Yard...
While I was there I witnessed the landing of a helicopter on one of those tiny pads sticking out into the water. It was impressive and cool, to say the least.
Enjoy!
I'm beginning to realize that Windows 10 and sound decoders have a lot in common. There are so many things you have to change in order to get them to work the way you want.
BigDaddyAll the department stores of my younger years are gone.
Same here! The few remaining stores struggle to stay afloat. I guess the Internet killed the department stores. Why should I go for an hour´s drive to downtown Hamburg, pay a hideous amount of money for parking the car, spend an hour searching the place for what I want, breathing the bad air in those places, only to find out they don´t have it my size? Must have well been over 25 years I last went shopping in a department store.
Brent - nice catch!
Brent: That saucer restaurant was closed when I was there this summer, for renovations.
By all coincidences, I went to the local Sears, which is closing. I suspect things were marked up so they could be on sale. I bought a pair of needle nose pliers as mine have bent at the tips. There was 1/2 the merchandise that used to be there, years ago. The cashiers were senior citizens. They were not fast.
All the department stores of my younger years are gone. Macy's bought up a few of them but it is now on life support.

Valentine's Day was fun. Judy wanted to go to PF Changs and she didn't have to twist my arm very hard. I traded the walleye dinner in for the sea bass, my favorite
With the lattice wrap appetizer the meal was very filling.
Judy had me bring her out to eat at 2:00 for brunch because she said the restaurants would be zooed in the evening, ... I am married to a smart gal
My partner Eric called me and had just closed the job today and said he could bring me the final check. He wanted to meet me at Cowboys and since Judy loves Cowboys that's where we met.
Low Amber lighting and dark wood, my kind of place. We didn't stay long, it's Judy's day. I do believe I will be rewarded later, ... maybe.
BATMAN Track fiddler By the way, do you know what's in that saucer building? Those windows look fun to look out of. TF, that building has been there a while, it was a Sears dept store when it was built, Sears went caput in Canada a long time ago and now it is the Downtown campus of Simon Fraser University. The saucer is a revolving restaurant that turns once an hour I believe. I have been there a few times but maybe 30 years ago when it wasn't so surrounded by newer taller buildings that block a lot of the view.

I knew it Brent. Now I have to book a trip to Vancouver this summer because I love the rotating restaurant thing I know Canada is like Minnesota involving 10 billion Lakes. Is there any good fishing lakes in Vancouver? I'm sure thats a stupid question
Somehow I knew that saucer top building was a revolving restaurant. When I was a little boy My Grandmother used to take me to the Dayton's one somewhere in Minneapolis.
Judy's and my bank are in the building that was built in 1969 at the same time my car was built. You can see it from where I live. The contractor took a big multimillion-dollar hit as cement spilled down into the roller track and screwed the building up from ever rotating
My gullet is full, my Judy is happy and we're all good here on Valentine's Day after a wonderful 24 years.
I'm hopefull you all had a great day too

RideOnRoad BATMAN . . .Jigsaw Casting is looking for old very fit bike riders to act as cycling coaches for a shoot in Toronto. Pay is better than the suit job. . . I have over 110,000 miles logged on a bicycle and weigh a paltry 140lbs. I wonder if I would qualify. Toronto is a ways from Mesa, Arizona, though.

We have come to learn that what they advertise for and what they end up getting or settling for are usually miles apart in the casting biz as there are huge shortages of people willing to put in what can be gruelling days. Take the suit ad they called me for. They advertise the job hoping Robert Redford or James Brolin walk through the door and in the end have to call a guy like me. It is the same with action stuff, they just shoot around the limitations they are handed. How often have you seen a guy playing the piano on-screen knowing full well he has no clue how to play the piano and they might cut in a closeup of someone elses hands on the keyboard.
The kid was being a deadbeat one summer so I told him I was going to sign him up to be a movie star. I submitted photos of the kid and just picked a casting company on the internet and the phone rang three days later and never stopped. His first job was on the movie Wonder and on the second day the director and assistant director spent a lot of time talking to him while waiting for the shot to be set and on the way home that day, the phone rang in the car and they wanted him for a bunch more days. His attitude and work ethic opened the flood gates for him.
Richard, if you have what they want they will pay your travel and hotel expenses. To them it is peanuts. They took the kid out of town for a shoot and put him up in a 2 bedroom suite for ten days. He would have lived like a king if he had not been on set for 14 hours a day. They even had to pay a large sum of $ to have him fitted for wardrobe in Ottawa because he was there going to school. I think they sent someone out from Toronto. They were going to fly him back to Vancouver for one day for the fitting but that kept getting postponed so they had it done in Ottawa.
Last year on the news there was a story about movie extra tourism where mostly seniors travel up from New Zealand and Australia to work as extras during our summers as it is winter down under. The work they get pays for their flight and accommodation which makes them happy as they get lots of days when they don't work to be tourist.
Busy day today and the bike awaits, priorities don't ya know?
All the best to all.
Good Morning,
A windy day here but it is supposed to warm up a little this afternoon.
Steven, I'll take some of that sushi. My wife and I love the stuff and have it several times a month. One of my favourites is a Baku Dan, that has smoked eel.
Garry, I can see why you delayed your eye surgery if it means you can get better eyesight with better lens. So far I have managed to evade the need for lens replacements. While I always have had very good vision, it isn't as good as it was 20 years ago and I do have glaucoma which is under control. When I was in my mid-40s I could read the 20/10 line on the eye chart and half of the 20/5 (bottom line). Not now. Getting old isn't fun.
Well time to get ready as my wife has an appointment at noon. I go to a little coffee shop that also does a few lunch things.
I've arranged to take in my K5a next week for the expert to look at.
Say, what do you do about dust on the layout? I have a little puffer that is actually for cleaning photographic equipment. It is about 40 years old or more but works very well to get the dust of locos and rolling stock. I'm thinking more of the layout in general.
Well time to get going.

My mother always prepared something what she thought was food, but in most cases, the dog, had we had one, would have refused it. She was a terrible cook, as she hated cooking.
Tinplate ToddlerShe "retired" 33 years ago, shortly before our son was born. She decided to be a professional mother and housewife, and a loving wife to boot. What better choice is there? Anyhow - can a housweife ever retire? I don´t think so.

Mom was famous for skipping lunch.
Dad did the breakfqst: it was fruit and he'd cut the slices, one for me, one for you, when he got to the core, he opened the window and tossed it out. The squirls loved it, they were lined up at breakfact time.
Lunch was always a salad, usually fruit and nuts, sometimes with some leaves and dressing.
Supper was usually Chicken breats or fish cooked in a glass pan in the oven with some vegitables in a steamer. Her rice was always nice, but then rice is usually nice unless like that cooked here at the Abbeyto witch they add all sorts of crap trying to make a gourmet dish out of what should be just plain rice.

Garry, that's pretty amazing footage of the train crew climbing out of the locomotive into a river with fire around them. So glad they made it out and were rescued.
Steve, I will pass on the sushi. About the only think I ever eat raw are oysters on the half-shell. Give me a steak (cooked).

Brent and Richard, I have never ridden a bicycle for exercise. I rode one quite a bit with my daughters growing up, but that was more for entertainment. I walk two miles every morning, and when I worked, I walked hallways each day.
There is a train show this weekend in Lincoln, NE, that I and a friend will go to. It's not anything of the size of train shows that most of you go to, but for our small population area, it's pretty good. I won't buy anything, but they have some neat layouts that always give me some good ideas.
Hope you all have a good day.

Hi Steven,
I remember the first time I had sushi. It took me quite some guts to sink my teeth into it, but eventually I came to like it. Working for a renowned Japanese company that starts with a capital t and ends with shiba, I had no way of avoiding Japanese food, so I thought it better to start liking it. Mind you, the stuff you get in a decent sushi place outside of Japan quite often beats the stuff they serve you in Japan! There are a few things I still won´t eat, like squid or 河豚, that´s fugu or meat from the rather poisonous pufferfish. You couldn´t pay me enough to touch that.
Valentine´s traditions. Not so much here. With Petra´s birthday being the day before, it´s kind of hard to develop any.
Happy Valentine's Day! Since my first date with the wife was to a sushi place, we celebrate Valentine's every year by going out for sushi. Do you have any Valentine's traditions?
Have you ever tried sushi? Go ahead and try some, it's on Garry! (I know LIONS don't eat fish -- but him might like it, it's raw!)
