Kevin sorry to hear you are laid off, but glad you are in a good position financially.
Ken I would wear gloves cleaning that cage. Raccoons can have rabies.
Jimmy: Twitter was disgusting, attacking Hamlin, La Joie, Blaney and even Newman himself because of the person who visited the track on Sunday. Not reported is that Newman announced on twitter that he and his wife separated just 4 days before the race.
At first, I was reassured by the lack of information, because it meant he wasn't DOA. The continued secrecy worries the heck out of me. I expect he broke bones and had a concussion and no one would be surprised at that. I am worried that he is paralyzed.

Jimmy_BraumThere's photos of the car online and its a stroke of luck Newman is still alive,
Jimmy, I think in addition to luck, it's a testament to the safety features that race cars have incorporated over the past years. Hope he continues to recover and can race again.
As for the incident, no one is to blame. In a race like this, accidents happen.

Hey all.
I had flashbacks to February 18th 2001 last night, with Newman. I thought we lost another driver on the last lap of the 500, on live TV. I spent so much time today defending Ryan Blaney on twitter, against idiots who think it was intentional. Just a racing accident. Between the black screens, the varying twitter posts, and how Blaney and Jeff Gordon were vividly upset and nearly in tears did nothing to calm my stomach. I thought Newman was dead. There's photos of the car online and its a stroke of luck Newman is still alive, he is still in serious condition, but he's talking to his family and doctors as of this afternoon. That wreck was the first in a long time that scared me it's the first in a long time that made me sick, and in tears.

These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway. As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).
York1Kevin, even though you will do OK, it's still got to be a shock to be working one day and not the next. Hope everything works out.
.
Since I was the last person on my team to get released, it actually came as quite a relief.
With the previous personnel that lost their employment, I knew the situation was so messed up it would take more effort to fix it than I would have available.
Now it is someone else's problem, and I am going to get a train room!

Living the dream.
A few minutes past 2am and I am up for a couple of hours again. It´s one of those nights I don´t find the sleep I need. There is so much happening here in this country which I am not allowed to talk about. All I can say it is deeply worrying. More and more people decide to leave and they have good reasons to do so. I wish we could join them.
Happy times!

"You´re never too old for a happy childhood!"
Good morning, everyone. I have to lay low for a few days, dentist's orders! That's the kind of medical instructions I can easily follow. My wife is even paying attention to me!
Kevin, even though you will do OK, it's still got to be a shock to be working one day and not the next. Hope everything works out.
I retired voluntarily. I have never, not for a single minute, missed my job.
Ken, our local paper just had an article last week about the illegality of trapping and moving animals.
I'm with you, though. If I shoot a deer or pheasant, I have no problem. But if I have to kill a small animal that is trapped, I hate it.
Not much else today. I hope you feel sorry for me sitting all day, being waited on by my wife and watching Turner Classic Movies. This isn't going to last very long.
Tinplate ToddlerI sincerely hope that you will find a good and rewarding job soon! The way your former employer handled the "restructuring" is highly unethical and I have my doubts that they will stay in business for long. Businesses like that deserve to go under!
I do not want to give that impression. They have been around for more than 100 years, and are top in the industry. I was travelling on the 14th, and they did not want to terminate me away from home.
My severance package was very generous, and I am in great shape financially.
I have been well paid for the work I did, and I saved quite a bit. My house, cars, and bills are all paid for.
I am going to take at least a year off. Maybe 2 or 3. I am going to finish my house remodel, and if I take to this not-working thing, I might never go back into the job pool.
I have nothing bad to say about my former employer. They gave a college drop-out a solid chance, paid for a lot of my future education for roles I grew into, and trusted me with confidential information and critical responsibility.
The greatest thing I did for them was being lead on the project to put a state-of-the-art locomotive into service. That was a thrill, and I felt like a kid in a candystore for 18 months.
I just can't believe I am not CU190 anymore.
This is not a bad day.
Extra strong coffee in a Soggy & Southern mug, please and thanks.
Neat pics being shared. Keep \em coming!
Been working on the HO layout in my head and lining up a helper to finish the build project so there will be room for the new expansion/tables.
Have a terrific day all.
Cheers! Rob
Good Afternoon!
SeeYou190I was let go on Monday the 17th, after we were told on Friday, February 14th, that the Reduction In Force was over and we could all exhale.

hon30critterI hope that you feel that you can trust us if you have to vent about the recent personnel changes at your work. Sounds like things were brutal.
Dave, it was as brutal as can be. So far over 5,000 people worldwide have lost their jobs, and as of today, I am one of them.
For the first time in over 30 years, when I woke up this morning I am no longer "SeeYou190". That has been my "work name" for decades. More people know me as CU190 than Kevin.
I was cut, along with everyone else with my job title, in a nationwide restructuring.
I was let go on Monday the 17th, after we were told on Friday, February 14th, that the Reduction In Force was over and we could all exhale.
This is the end of an era. CU190 means nothing now.

SeeYou190Ken, I am glad it arrived in good shape. That is a special STRATTON AND GILLETTE "No Smoking" train car I made just for you to commemorate your quitting. I was a smoker for quite a while, and I am glad I quit.
Kevin,
You are a very generous person, and an excellent modeller!

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
cudakenEd Any tips on cleaning the Raccon trap?
Mine gets dunked in a large pond so comes out clean. Is your garden hose put away for winter? Spray it down to rinse it off then spray some foaming oven cleaner on it, then rinse that off after an hour or so.
cudakenIf you don't mind I will be calling you in the next few days.
I should be around

cudaken Kevin The tank car is making the layout rounds to night! I was surprised when I changed the wheels that it had sprung trucks! Condition looked like new to for being a older Athearn BB car.

I snapped a few pictures before I put it in the mail. It is one of my fancier paint schemes.

Flo, give the gang and I a please and Dirk Pip half a dog treat.
I am sadden and happy to report there is one less Raccon in Maryville ILL. Got the Attic Burglar last night and dispatched this morning. Hated to do it, but one of us had to go! Will be interesting get it out of the trap Tuesday. I had forgotten all about rogamortis. Bolt Cutters?
Work Day with Nancy the We normally open on Monday at 11:00 AM but Nacy called the house at 8:30 AM and said the store had to be open at 10:00 AM because it was going to be a big day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First customer cam in at 11:25 AM. Last customer left the store at 3:00 PM. Yep, that was a BIG DAY Nancy!

Well I am beat and Dirk want's to be combed so later.
Ken and Dirk say's Woof, Woof.
I hate Rust
Ryan Newman is in serious conditions with "non-life threatening injuries" Good news.
Horrific accident on the last lap of the Daytona 500 tonight. Ryan Neuman got rolled on his roof and then hit in the drivers side for another 360. He was trapped in his car for a while. TV coverage was pretty vague on that but Jeff Gordon looked grim at the end when they said he was on his way to the hospital.
Prayers for Ryan and his family.
Mike My Stewart F3 B installation was uneventful aside from trying to balance the sound level with the shell on in the A unit and the shell off in the B unit.
Honestly I can't tell the difference from that round TCS speaker in the B and a loksound sugar cube in the A.
I had Wow sound installed into a Bachmann shay, commercially by DCC Xpress and that sounds good. I took my Bachmann 4-6-0 home Wow sound installation to Timonium to see why the headlight never worked. He found continuity between the loco plug and the LED wires and suggested that I had flip flopped the white and blue connections at the decoder.
I switched those today and there is still no headlight. I was pretty sure that the headlight was an LED, just by the brightness and how it looked. When I put it back together the motor plug wasn't quite seated and I got all sorts of weird effects, non stop horn effects and no movement. Once I figured that out, all was well except still on headlight.
I'm stumped as to what to try next.
Also I am stumped on the Proto GP9 with the mobile wheel bearings. I haven't confirmed the measurements given to me in that thread, but if true and the NRMA standard for distance between the inner face of the wheels 'K' is true, there shouldn't be room for the brass bearing to move out of the metal part of the sideframes.
Goooood afternoon alll.
Not much going on in my neck of the woods. Been fairly warm here a touch of spring.
On call for w**k this week. was a (not loud) day today.
It has been raining bunchs here in KY lately.
Here was the line down around Wickliffe KY in 1937
Storm "Dennis", which is flooding Wales right now, left us with a somewhat bright, but windy day. Nice to be able to see some blue sky for a change!
MisterB. - remember how nice train travel was back in the old days? "Dinner in the diner, nothing could be finer ..., you can have your ham and eggs in Carolina..." Flying is a nightmare, right from the very beginning of the journey. I have wasted way too much time at airports, time lost for my life.
I will be off the grid cruising around the Caribbean for a couple of weeks, but right now I am sitting in Atlanta waiting for a delayed plane. The usual nightmares of flying -- early morning flight with the airport playing loud disco-pop, tight seats and screaming kids behind us on the plane, and now our flight is delayed because the airport is in thick fog.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
York1 Heartland Division CB&Q Bowling Green, KY is located on the original L&N line between Louisville and Nashville. Today, they have a small railroad museum called Historic Rail Park. Garry, I have relatives in Bowling Green, and we get there every so often. I did not know they had a railroad museum. Thanks for posting this. I have to be sure and see the museum next time we get to Kentucky.

Tinplate ToddlerKevin - will they keep the outside loo or do they alrewady have the necessary facilities inside the house? I mean it´s just a big garage with an attached kitchen, so I wonder whether they have a bathroom?
Smarty pants!
I'm telling you, those times gone fishing.
Maybe someone else can relate.
Plugging for Northerns or Muskie with a Suick!
You real in your lure and that really big one follows it and just hangs around by the boat.
After your adrenaline soars, you realize you ain't getting that big one into the boat, ... he's too smart.
Anyone Care to go fishing? I do!

Flo, give the gang and I a please and Dirk half a dog treat.
Got a few theings done that I have been putting off.
VA Paper Work I still don't know why they wanted it. They said I made more than I claimed? I do not remember telling them what I made? Thinks is because I am now getting my SS.
Set the live trap today, and I have been putting it off. Yes I have a Raccoon in the attic again. Think the main reason I have been putting it off is I am not looking forward to killing it. In the state of ILL you cannot catch and release farther than 100 yards from where you caught it? Yea, that will help!
Steam front. Seems my Pargon QSI NYC Hudson has died? Just sets there, nothing works when I type in the address. Decoder Pro can read and write to the decoder but yet it remains a lump on the rails. Will check the Tether wires and do a hard reset of the decoder. Love it's whistle!
PRR I1sa is not chuffing again. There is a shocker! Need to see if I can get BLI to fax me a shippping lable, the one they sent is buried in my E-Mail
Took Dirk Pip on a longer walk today around 1:00 Pm. Did his #2 and it was a pleasent day. As a bonus he all so got to go too the park and did a scond #2 and seemed to enjoy him self. Seems Dirk does not like BLI Rolling Thunder either.
Later, none smoking Ken and Dirk says Woof, Woof!
SeeYou190I am enjoying 1% milk right now. Not much fun, but feel free to join with me.
I don´t mind having milk right now. I´ll be heating it up and add some honey to it. Maybe that helps me to go back to sleep now.
Me on the other hand. I've always wanted to catch a great big giant fish.
I cannot tell you, I've had nightmares on the subject.
I need to catch a great big giant fish, it's in my bucket list!
And then I want to invite company over to eat it
The sidebar ads have gone nuts. Ever since Brent posted that picture of the big fish, I keep getting ads for fishing gear and bass boats.
There is ZERO chance I would ever buy such a thing. These cannot be based on browser history, I would never click on anything fishing related.
Seafood, maybe, but never fishing.
Okay, I'm going back to my nap.
gmpullmanAnother Louisville treasure, Jerry's Junk.
That looks like it would have been a great place to visit.
