Same here, Dave. Not so much the overheating (Mrs. Pullman makes up for the hot flashes for both of us ) but I simply hate the bulkiness and the constrained feeling with a heavy coat. In the truck with the seat and shoulder belts and the cramped quarters in the vehicles these days really makes it uncomfortable.
I keep cold weather wear with me but seldom use it. A plain, fleece sweatshirt is fine with me.
I often have trouble with these new hand-tighten propane fittings. Sometimes I have to remove them and re-tighten the hand nut a half-dozen times before the gas will flow properly.
That, plus the spiders making nests in the vent holes makes for a real pain!

We are having a wonderful winter! If we have to have winter then we may as well enjoy it! The temperatures have been mostly at or around the freezing mark and Dianne and I have been sitting on the deck enjoying our fireplace almost every day since the Fall. Last night it was snowing gently and it was beautiful. Almost no wind. The deck has a roof in case you were wondering.
We did have a problem on Friday. The outdoor propane fireplace would not light. We had just installed a fresh tank and the gas would not flow. We were quite worried because we had guests coming for the weekend and sitting around the fireplace (consuming all manner of alcoholic beverages of course) was part of the anticipated fun. I called a local fireplace/furnace supplier at 12:30 pm and we had a fire by 4:00 pm! How's that for service?!? Super nice guy! I gave him a $40.00 tip. I know whom I'm going to call the next time the furnace needs to be serviced.
As far as wearing a coat in cold weather, I often don't. I will regularly sit outside in my short sleeved shirt when it is below freezing, often for up to an hour. I don't do it if there is any real wind.
I also don't drive with my winter coat on. I get too hot. Of course I always have my coat, gloves and hat, and the winter survival/emergency kit with me because you can never tell what Mother Nature is going to throw at us next.

A fascinating look. Note the terra-cotta conduit troughs. Mike, you can see the planking from the forms on the upper-right. I wonder if they used real concrete for the display? I suppose so. No expanded foam back then.
Note, too, how many bolts must have been used to secure all these cast iron sections together. I imagine those bolts are still in there a hundred-ten years later. Never heard of any plan to replace them.

Saints fan John - While I was hoping tomorrow, it's not looking well for that. Hopefully after another 36 hours. The breathing treatments make my pulse rise, and the Dr. really dislikes that. But, albuterol is a type of steroid, so...
Another hour of this torture treatment, then my final breathing treatment until 7am. Hopefully I can sleep some, because last night, they never unhooked the IV until 5, because they were also giving me 2 liters of saline solution.
They then woke me at 7 for a blood sugar test that nobody knew why it was ordered, as there was zero history in me or my family of diabetes.
But when I arrived, not able to take a full breath, I also had a fever of 103, so......
EDIT: Corrected typos... dumb smart phone thought it meant what I knew I was saying, but it didn't!

Train News! The Mighty PRR I1sa is sitting on my track again! Ran it last night and it makes Chuffing sounds again. But, for some reason BLI resat the decoder to default and turned the darn smoke unit back on! Darn thing started smokeing after a few feet and I killed the power fast! Don't want the clean up again.
Today I rewrote the decoder CV's using my old saved CV's from Decoder Pro, easy peasy right? Well it now sets on the track like a lump of coal? Some what surprised but not schocked. I have had problems before with long address?
What I find real strange was what they repaired? I sent the Mighty PRR I1sa maily because it stopped chuffing. I all so requested new traction tire (from smoke fluid contamination) and new tender tether wiring because I screwed it up trying to fix the chuff sensor my self.
1 Replaced traction tires. Check.
2 New tether wiring. Check.
3 New Boiler Shell? Why, nothing wrong with it when I sent it?
4 Not a word about replacing the Chuff sensor?
Oh well, is chuffs again so I am happy.

Probably an East coast thing. I never heard of that up here.
It gets so cold in the north sometimes these large facilities have a heating problem and the AMF systems freeze up.
The good bowling alleys import cute little monkeys from Australia to reset the Pins after each frame.
Us kids can be a little unsportsmanlike at times. Usually we Bowl again before all the monkeys get out of the way.
If you hit a monkey or two it's worth more points than the pins. I knocked over 9 today and I Won

Wow 45° is a tropical Heatwave where I live. I'm down to a t-shirt an hour after I start moving.
Sometimes the heat from the sun on the asphalt shingles on a roof hold the Heat and it's like a space heater. I break a sweat.

30 seconds?????????? Hey -10° F is camping weather as far as I'm concerned! Used to love primitive (tent) winter camping with the Scout Troop. You had better have some heavy outerwear if you want to survive!!!
And yes, I know just how nasty a bit of frostbite can be. Still, I tend to like winter! Here in the Finger Lakes we have 4 seasons... Almost Winter, Winter, still Winter, and Road construction. Usually easier to get around driving in Winter... LOL

CNCharlie TF, if you do a google search on DW&P engine roster, there is a site that lists all the locos they used and if you click on an engine number there are photos for that engine. I think you might mix GT engines with DW&P as they did exchange locos at one point. Save doing a paint job. CN Charlie

Weather is damp and cool today, but we are close to the river and the Chesapeake Bay. The ESU group moved to Groups.io. I was a member of the Yahoo group, but Yahoo ruined what they had and is now going to dump groups altogether. I joined a couple days ago and so far the daily digest is just one thread. Convenient and it all makes sense.
I was also able to research installing a decoder in the two motor Bachmann 44 tonner. I thought I had an extra micro decoder but either I didn't or it is MIA.
Top of the page. For dinner we are having left over pizza and a Bogle 2016 Essential Red. Let it breathe and it's a pretty good red wine. A glass of Bogle for the diner.

I live a lot further South than Saint Petersburg, and have lived here since 1981. We could not dress like that at 50 degrees, because none of the stores sell coats, jackets, or other such nonsense.
When I go North, I have the opposite experience. I have found no need for a coat or long sleeves. I just need to get from my heated hotel, to a heated car, to a heated conference room.

I busted a gut, It brought back memories. Anyone that lives in the North has to get a little creative when it's nice outside.
I remember in the very early spring when there was a healthy amount of water on top of the ice, we would put on wetsuits and water ski behind snowmobiles. The tow rope was long enough so you didn't catch the rooster tail.
I remember one time my friend Brent cut so hard he fipped the snowmobile on its side. It's funny how we would laugh at things like that when we were young and stupid
We always seemed to know how to have fun back then. Maybe later I could describe our game of snowmobile football we used to play. I think you would have had to be there for that one though
