Wow MLC.... that was quite the endeavor. Did you have a cherry picker and a heated garage, if you live anywhere near Minnesota?

Three hours, you're a heck of a mechanicBow...Yes

PS    Never mind the tail-end of my question. You don't live anywhere near Minnesota. With all the salt on our roads it would be impossible to do all that in 3 hours because of all the rust, in the nuts, coming off the boltsLaugh

Hey Diners.... I'm bored on a Saturday night, tired from work. By the look of it, you may be bored too.

Let's liven things up a little bit and start off playing music trivia again, Name That Tune so to speak.

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now, it's just a sprinkling for the May Queen.  ???

4 SIMPLE RULES- text lyrics (words to the song)

1) The first one that guesses, has a turn next before he or she even realizes if they are right or wrong. If they are wrong the next guy says so and starts his new trivia.... so there can be two of them going at once "who cares"....

2) Don't pick too hard of a song for music trivia game or it very well may come to a halt

3) Christmas songs are definitely welcomed, especially Christmas Classics.... Tis the Season

4) Just have fun

I finally got Imgur to load (I even was using the app)

This is the 27 car candy cane/peppermint train (It was for the kids for the open house) I ran today, that's my kind of model railroading!

I did something called "Spotify 2018 Wrapped" its basically where they tell you who, what, and how much you listened to on their streaming service.

And to think that this time last year my music library was mostly Billy Joel and Big Band music.

Four Bleachers songs made my Top 5!Laugh

Egaads! I did the math and I listened to music for the equivalent of 17 days straight, or 406 hours!

TF the answer is...

"Have you ever seen the rain" Creedence Clearwater Rivival

CCR also did "Who'll stop the rain"

Henry posted some lyrics, I copied them below.

"I'm goin' down the railroad track
It makes me feel so doggone blue to listen to that old smokestack"

Let's make it a twofer!

"First they'll tell you you cant sleep alone in a strange place, then they'll tell you you cant sleep with somebody else; ahh, but sooner or later you sleep in your own space, either way it's ok to say up with yourself!"

I made sure to not use lyrics from a Bleachers or Saint Motel song cause you guys probably wouldn't know them!Laugh

Take this with a grain of salt but I like this one.... it gives me some kind of peace. It always had some kind of meaning to me.

I have always been here. I have always looked out from behind these eyes. Feels like more than lifetime. Feels like more than a lifetime.

Sometimes I get tired of the waiting. Sometimes I get tired of being in here.

Is this the way this has always been. Could it have ever been different.

Do you ever get tired of the waiting. Do you ever get tired of being in there.

Don't you worry.... no body lives forever.... no body lives forever.

Good Morning!

It´s the 2nd Sunday of Advent, so let´s light up the 2nd candle on the Advent wreath!

Time for my big Sunday breakfast again! Flo, make it crisp fried bacon, fried eggs - sunnyside up, buttered toast, jams, a stack of pancakes & maple syrup and lots of coffee, please, but hold the OJ!

We are invited to a traditional Adventskaffee, that´s coffee and "Christstollen" , at our friends Lothar´s place.

They recently bought their retirement home, which is a 3 hours drive away. The plan of moving to that place next summer. Once the have moved, we will have no one left in this town to call a friend.

Good morning

Thanks Ulrich.... I've been looking for a car like that in good enough shape to restore for years. That's a tough machine to find. No one wants to part with a cherry one for any reasonable price. Sometimes I think part of one of my hobbies is just looking for oneLaugh     Happy Advent.

Don't worry about the friend thing. I remember a saying when I was young which I  never did understand until later in life. I think it went something like this. If you only have one true friend when you get older, you are doing well. Sometimes it feels like the only true friend I have is the one sitting right across the room from me. You gotta to love herWink

Thank you, Garry.

So far so good here. Went down to 13° F last night here in NE Ohio. Clear skies, though. Venus was particularly bright in the morning, clear sky. I always wondered if I would get any use out of a decent telescope?

Enjoy what's left of the weekend, Folks.

I messed around with this neat compound steam engine for my Hulett power house last night.

Good morning all, nice to be back in town for the holiday season!! Was diggin' the pic of that iconic Torino earlier. My SS Camaro has been mostly winterized and that means it's train season again. Time to dust off the tracks and fire up the deisels and steamers and get some work done on the HVBL. I started the first project last night with a fresh decal and detailing job on an old blue box bay window caboose for the NYC. My 6 year old son has been bugging me for a caboose since last christmas when santa brought him his first deisel engine. This should bring some joy to the end of his box car train, lol!! I hope everyone is well and its nice to be back on the train gang again. Peace to all......

Hey TF,

When you do the restoration don't forget about putting a toggle switch in the glove box. In one episode they were following another car at night and decided that they were going to be spotted. In order to change their appearance they decided to make it look like one of their headlights was burned out, so they popped open the glove box to reveal a toggle switch which controlled one of the headlights.

The farcical aspect of having the switch localed in the glove box so it was supposedly hidden from the criminals' view left me chuckling. The fact that there wasn't anything else in the glove box made even the scene even more nonsensical.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the series. However, that particular scene left me feeling that the writers had failed miserably. "Oh come on, please - how stupid do you think your audience is?"LaughLaughLaugh

I am a 72 man now. 76 is nice, I always liked that one. I found this one and I like it better.

Lee Iacocca was the auto designer for Ford that made all the muscle cars gel between 69 and 72

There are three favorite cars I love. The 69 Mach 1 351, the 70 Cuda 440 and the ? Gran Torino ???

This one asks for 24,500, she is listed quite mint. My favorite color was blue when I was young. This shade of blue is it!  Isn't she beautiful?

We only have so much disposable money. None of its really disposable as far as I'm concerned. If I could get this down to 18,500 I would consider infringing on my retirement a bitTongue Tied You only live once right. If I go take a look at this thing I may be in a lot of trouble.

The hood has an intake only on one side. That spells Trouble too. There's a monster under the hood. High upkeep of understanding. Dual nostrils like on the 69 GTO Judge is better for the Sunday casual driver. Who wants to always pop his hood and Tinker on an enjoyable Sunday Drive..... then again on a second look that hood scoop might be centered tell me what you think.

I have four weaknesses. Classic Cars, Steam Locomotives, Clipper Ships and LOUD War Planes, especially the Corsair. I can only afford one out of the four in full-scale.

My gut told me this thing will sell before I even schedule a peek.... I do believe I will come back to sanity soon.

Dreams are nice aren't they guys. What would one do with two Muscle Machines anywayIndifferent Sad

                       TF

It is my belief. Wealthy people that can have anything they want are not as happy as common well-to-do people. One really appreciates the things they earn. Sometimes the excitement of dreams are just as good (The Thrill of the chase so to speak).

Hey all you bird watchers out there! Dianne and I had a very unusual sighting today. Actually it is the second time we have seen this one in two weeks.

Herons are nothing unusual in southern Ontario, except in December. We have always given them credit for being smart enough to go south. Well, one brave soul hasn't gotten the message. We have a heron that apparently has decided to stay for Christmas. It was sitting beside a culvert between two field that suprisingly was still not frozen. The water was moving fairly quickly. Obviously there must be fish or the heron would have starved by now.

We are a bit apprehinsive about its ability to survive through the winter. In fact, if it doesn't go south soon I'd say its chances are nill.

We started to see robins all year round several years ago. Things are changing.

Please, let's not turn this into a climate change debate!

I don't know, but if you are willing to give me a couple I promise to tell you what I did with them.Thumbs UpSmile, Wink & Grin

My choice in muscle cars is a bit different. I admire North American muscle cars but I would rather have a couple of British performance cars even thought their straight line 'performance' doesn't come close to what we have/had on this side of the pond.

My first choice would be an MGC GTS from 1968 or 69. The 'S' on the end makes it a very different car from the lethargic and poor handling MGCs or MGC GTs. The 'S' version was built strictly for racing and in fact it won its class at Le Mans. It is a hand built all aluminum body with a custom built all aluminum 6 cylinder engine.

The stock MGCs were poor performers. The engines were incredibly heavy and they lacked power considering their huge displacement (by British standards). Plus, they were famous for their dangerous willingness to either understeer or oversteer dramatically when given the slightest excuse. I had one - I know!Dunce

The 'S's were a whole lot lighter and very well balanced thanks to the use of aluminum and the fact that the engine had been pushed back by 6", leaving a very tight space for the pedals I might add. There were only six built. As far as I know five of them still survive. There are lots of copies. Some are disgusting. Some are very well done.

The other car I would like to own is a 1960 Jaguar MarkX, or an earlier version. These cars were the epitomy of British sports car technology. The road going version, which was readily available to the general public, was literally driven right off the end of the production line straight to Le Mans and raced with few if any modifications, and they won! I had one of them too but unfortunately I bought it on a whim in my youth and was never able to drive it. The under carriage was too rusty from sitting in a field for me to restore it and I was flat, plain broke so I couldn't afford to have anyone do it for me.Crying

I know of a few of the cars you guys have owned or still own, like cudaken's and Ulrich's. How about the rest of you? If we can talk about music we can talk about cars.Thumbs Up

Oh man .....very ironic,  when it rains it pours. Now I'm jumping back to you Ulrich with the friend thing. Apparently your friends come back sometimes.  A distant friend that I lived next door to for one year has texted my dear sweet Judy announcing that he has retired from Caterpillar.  I lived next door to him and Kim for one year so my loved dog Nellie could live out her life.

He bought a super small home in Hawaii. He got it for a steel because of all the volcanic activity recently.... It is his thoughts they have erupted, they will never erupt again in his life, so why not move to where he has vacationed and always wanted to be.

His home is so small it has an outhouse. There's a black Basin on the top of this house gravity-fed for hot water from the Sun. This sounds good, I don't give a rip, it sounds good to me.

As it turns out he's got a deal on a plane for me and free lodging of course on the fluton in the window room.

Sounds good to me again. I've never been to Hawaii....... Hawaii for Christmas are you kidding meBig SmileDinnerWhistlingLaugh I'm in.

Evening folks,

SHOOT! I've been listening to some Billy Joel through my in-ear headphones, aka earbuds, while relaxing this evening when all of the sudden the $@&*÷;# emergency alert tone plays AT FULL VOLUME!!!! They trying to give me a heart attack!?!?!? Shouldn't they be smart enough to have the phone know that the alert tone should be played at like no more than half volume when headphones are in?

Needless to say I'm now wide awake!

Hey TF, I could always use a nice running 69 Mustang SportsroofWhistling

Just kidding of course!

I laid off my hotrodding dreams due to my current problems with my truck, and some guys on a car forum told me a well built 351 would cost around 15k, I'm going to need a much, MUCH better job first.

So I'm probably going to try to find a running 351w for like under two grand swap it in. I might first do some exhaust upgrades just so the 302 (and the eventual 351) rumbles a bit more.

I got big plans for my old truck, just need the means to make them happen.

My ultimate plan is a fuel injected 387 windsor based engine with Cleveland heads (aftermarket of course).

Well a fella can dream!

Well here's a great little story for ya, so remember my friend Sarah, the one I asked out and she didn't even realize I was "asking her out", anyways ever since I was old enough to know the difference between Ford and Chevrolet I've been a Blue Oval man, well I knew this girl since the 3rd grade and I didn't find out till AFTER I asked her out that not only did both her Grandfathers work for GM and the BowTie to be precise she's also VERY opinionated on the topic of cars for a female!

I took that as an omen that she definitely wasn't for me!

I don't have anything against GM or any of you guys that like GM, that's just a story that gives me a smile when I think out it.

What's really funny is one of the girls in my Sunday School group drives a new black Mustang GT, now that's a girl with good taste in cars!

(Me thinking to myself) *now to just get her phone number!* Laugh

Again nothing against GM folks! (I know disagreements on car brands can turn into WWIII: thermonuclear edition faster than a political discussion!Laugh)

Well back to trains for a moment, I've been trying to finish that 150 ton coal gon I kitbashed so I can make up some resin versions, Rod at the MSMRC has done a lot of resin casting so he said he'd help me make copies of the car when I'm ready.

Now back to cars!

V(All that High School English paid off in the beginning of that sentence)V

The other day, on the side of the road, I noticed a 80s Datsun 280 sitting under a tree in someone's yard, I'm thinking about approaching them one day to see if they'd consider selling it, its navy blue too!

And lastly music, one of my favorite groups Bleachers announced a new "album" known as Terrible Thrills Vol. 3, basically Jack Antonoffs (Bleachers frontman) "Terrible Thrills" volumes are where the latest album of his gets redone by female singers, well this one actually has a few female versions and also some "reimagined" Bleachers versions of some of the songs, along with a demo of the single off the album.

The weird thing is its sounding like they will only be available on vinyl and they sold out during preorder, so bummer there, I'm hoping they'll be on Spotify but you never know!

And TF, I hear you on the Hawaiian Christmas thing!Paradise

I believe Old Navy has got some Hawaiian Christmas shirts, one is palm trees with Christmas lights, the other is a surfing Santa Claus!

Well I went on, and on, and on!

Goodnight all!

Steve

Dave.... classic cars are whatever you like.

They are all good. I see you're speaking of the same gel time period. I didn't know it was worldwide.

I lived two years in my youth driving around in a 66 Jaguar. It was black and mean looking. We were all proud stepping out of that thing wherever we stopped with roadside gawkers looking.

Mike, the younger kid than me owned it. At least his father did. His father was a psychiatrist. I knew his father well after a few years. I think he messed up my head a little bit. He shrunk itLaugh

That Jaguar was so cool I wish I had pictures of it to show you. I drove it a lot.  Mike got a little jacked some nights. That thing handled and cornered like a dream. I have nothing against over the pond cars whatsoever. I would have to say mechanically they are probably way more Superior. I will not leave out German engineering.

I'm liking the car talk  Dave... TF
