Adding my condolences to the list for Mr. B.

Hoping this doesn't qualify as a political post. -- I do love the early ballot. I received my ballot a couple of days ago in the mail. Being able to to the time in the privacy of my own home to research the issues and mark the ballot is a good thing. And now we wait...

Good Afternoon,

Woke up this morning to a windchill of 21F. Brrrr! It is only about 40F right now.

Mr. B, sorry to hear about your FIL, I am with you on the celebration side as 99 is certainly a very long life. Nevertheless it is still sad for all involved. When my mother passed away at 97 a few years ago, I felt sad but at the same time sort of glad that I had her for such a long time.

Doing a little work on the 2 layouts. I have prepped the area for the industry parking lots as it had to be very smooth before I apply the Busch paving. I am using it on the N scale layout rather than a plaster material as I did on the HO because any surface imperfections that a just a little dip for an HO scale vehicle become a large crater for N scale. I am getting the area ready to lay the sidewalk in front of the theatre and grocery store on the HO layout. I have ordered some Bar Mills premade sidewalks as I want as little disruption as possible to the roadway.

Well I think it is time for a fire and a coffee.

 Afternoon Diners

Flo, Ed and I will have a Beer please. If Mr B makes it by give him one as well.

Deep down in the dumps today. Looking at the bills and what is sort of a paycheck. Local Shop And Save has a help wanted sign up, time to look into it. My biggest worry is my feet. Skould not be on them more than 3 hours a day.

 Speaking of feet

VA Front Have to be there at 9:30 AM to have my eyes tested. They are going to Dilate my eyes to check for damage from being diaetic. Then at 11:30 I get my feet checked. Blood Blister has turned more to a callus (from new shoes that are not working well) and hope they can remove the callus and not find a infection.

Train Front. Got all my turnouts working again! Big Smile Hope to get another one installed Thursday after I get back from the VA.

Bessmer SD 7 Played with the Tsnami decoder some. Used the EQ to turn down the higher sounds, added a little reverb and turned down exhaust. While I cannot say I love the sound I know longer hate it.

Adcom 555 photo Did anyone see the parts laying on the floor? Have to be a car guy to know what they where but they are cool.

Going to watch Olympus Has Fallen.

 Later, Ken

J Powell What will you Amzom store be selling? Is it hard to start one? I am guessing everything will be dropped shipped?

 See you all later, Ken

Ken - I will be doing what is called retail arbitrage. Retail arbitrage is a method of sourcing inventory from retail stores in order to sell it through Amazon. When you're doing retail arbitrage (or RA, as it's often abbreviated), you are looking for items you can buy at a low price in retail stores and sell high on Amazon.

It's a process though, as you have to meet certain Amazon requirements to sell in the various categories on Amazon.

Mr B - I'm sorry to hear about the loss. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family druing this difficult time.

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010

I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017

Morning all!

Chloe, I'll take some eggs, bacon, and the largest cup of coffee you can carry. Keep the coffee coming until I start to vibrate like a plucked string.

Thirteen hour night shift is in the process of turning into a fifteen hour shift. The powers that be decided it was a good idea to send us on a 120 mile round trip an hour before we're supposed to get off.  The first 60 miles down won't be bad, but the trip back will be with rush hour traffic. At least the patient is sleeping.  I've transported her before, and when she's awake she'll talk the hind legs off an elephant at 100 yards.

On the train front, I started looking at what needs to be done to get the basement ready. All the framing, electrical, phone, computer, and cable work I can do myself, Drywall, not so much, I can do it, but the pros can do it in a quarter of the time, with half the mess, and 100% less mistakes.

Also need to do battle with my roommate on rearranging his office so I have the necessary space. My house so I'll win any argument, but that's not the best way to get along. There's more than enough room, but it he'll have to change from a front-rear corner arrangement to a front-runner front-runner arrangement.

F-f-feels l-like I-I H-have enough c-coffee t-to stay a-awake n-now, so I-I b-better H-hit t-the road.

Not sure what triggered it, but I am suffering from some pretty severe neck pain. I virtually no range of motion in my neck. I went to the doctor yesterday and was put on prednisone and pain killers. I have a really good doctor. I called at 9:00am, got an appointment for 2:15pm, and was in and out in 45 minutes, including getting scripts written and a cortisone injection.

Still waiting for things to get better. I slept for about 2.5 hours last night sitting up on the couch. The pain has been excruciating. It is not as bad this morning but there was a lull last night and then it returned with a vengeance. Here's to hoping. I did get a chance to finish "The Book Thief," based on a recommendation from Mrs. ROR. It took a while to get used the the writing style--it is narrated by death--but it the end, it was a good book. Now I am going to start "The Wright Brothers," by David McCullough. I have read a number of his books and enjoy his research and writing style.

Afternoon Diners,

Since I only needed a one covered hopper (Rock Island) for now. I know I need at least three. The small grain elevator will handle both covered hopper and boxcars depending on shipment.

Mr. B- I'm sorry to hear about your wife's dad passing.

Ulrich- I hope you're feeling better soon. I miss reading about your days.

Good evening diners.  Back from SC.  Going down I detoured through Raleigh because 95 was closed due to the hurricane.  Parallel roads like 301 had washed out bridges too.  Coming home I-95 was open north bound, when I left SC, until an 18 wheeler ran off the road.  Then the rubberneckers on the other side ran into each other, catching an 18 wheeler hauling hazardous chemicals on fire.  They shut down I 95 until this morning.  Meanwhile in the back up, people ran into each other killing 2 people in a RV Angel

It was back to Raleigh and home at midnight instead of 10 pm

Colonoscopy  Go Lytely tastes like velvety Gatorade.  My first one, I drank only 1 of 4 quarts.  I just looked at it an vomited.  That managed to clean my out from top down.  By catching polyps early, you are preventing cancer.

Richard, ask your doctor about wearing a soft collar at night.  Sleeping is the worst for my neck.   Reading or watching TV in bed with your head bent forward is bad;  that is also the same relative position people text on their cell phones.  If you can manage it, only sleep on one pillow.  Hope you have a speedy recovery.  Prednisone usually works for me if I catch it early.  Narcotics not so much.  Don't be surprised if you are wide awake at night and hungry as a coon hound from the steroid.

Jim welcome to the diner

Mr B 99 is a pretty good run.  My grandmother lived that long and had most her wits but none of her senses of sight smell nor taste.  Condolences and prayers Angel

I have been on prednisone quite a few times with my asthma. It makes me really grouchy. It's weird--I know I am being really difficult to be around, but there is little I can do to prevent it.

Today the doctor added a muscle relaxant to my regime, as the muscles in my neck were having spasms--extremely painful! My body doesn't know if I should be wide awake from the prednisone, or sleepy from the pain killer and relaxant.

 Evening Diners

Flo, Ed and I will have a Beer please.

VA Hospital Visit. Over all not a bad visit. Far as my eyes, there is a broken blood vessel in the left eye but the Dr said he not worried about it. Hum, wonder if that is because it's not his eye? I don't know if it is a new one, or the one I had last year.

Feet Front Got a big Yes from leg ulcer clinic. Hammer Toe ulcer is all but gone. Far as the blood blister / callus, I was told I caught it earliy and treated it right. By the time he trimed it, well it was gone so I am happy.

Got home around 12:30 and my eyes where finally get back to normal after being dilated, luckly it was overcast today. Close up vision was blurry on the way home.

Train Front Went too K-10 Model Trains again. Looked at the remaning Bessmer SD 7 with sound! What to do, what to do. Whistling Walked out with a 12 pack of Proto 2000 wheels and that was it! Big Smile

Moe, Larry Curly yes they are connecting rod. But they are Aluminum Connecting Rods form my 528 CI Stroker Hemi! The Adcom 555 make 200 watts at 2 ohm and bridge mono 600 watts at 2 ohm. Now, I have not looked at te specks in year so it might be 8 ohms. If you might like to take a crack at the Adcom gear let me know.

Trains are running pretty well and the Tsunami SD 7 is starting to grow on me far as the sound. Bumped the sound up on the B&O F7's a tad, while it helped another bump should just about me it perfect!

Ed the B&O F7's are the best gift I have ever gotton! Beats the heck out of the under ware Mom gave me for Christmass when I was 14!

I use this website (which to avoid advertising I won't name) where you can buy coupons for things like restaurant meals, at up to half price. I had some credit with this website that I wanted to use up, and we've been looking for a good Italian restaurant near our home, so when an offer came up for an Italian restaurant I hadn't tried before, I bought it. Hey, $11 for $20 worth of food, can't go wrong, right? So we get there, and it's not an Italian place, it's an Italian BEEF place. As in, sandwiches and hot dogs. They did have pizza, but I was not in the mood for it, having psyched myself up for pasta. I got a Reuben, which wasn't bad (though the fries were flabby and greasy) and the wife's pizza was likewise flabby and greasy. (Kind of like me.) So, today's Diner special is what I actually wanted for dinner, lasagna.

Traditional

or vegetarian spinach.

Either goes good with garlic bread.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I need a pot of Marrakesh Express Dark Raost Organic coffee and a couple of those Bavarian Creme Filled Doughnits you have over there on the counter....

"Another rainy day in New York City
Softly sweet, so silently it falls
As cross town traffic crawls
Memories in my way in New York City
Tender, tough, too tragic to be true
And nothing I can do
City workers cheer
The taxis disappear
Another rainy day in New York City
Another spacey stay in New York city
High up in an overpriced hotel
The view is really swell"

Yep!  We are now getting all the rain we didn't get last summer here in the Finger Lakes Region.  Started in earnest yesterday (1.5") and will continue today and most of tomorrow....  Talking about 4" or more.  We are under a Flash Flood Watch at the moment.  if it wasn't for packing everything for the NMRA Meet tomorrow in Rochester, NY I would just go down cellar and play with the trains...

My kitties are over across the room on the floor grooming each other.  Blackie has his paw wrapped around Manét's head all snuggled together.  Wednesday evening I had several members of the adults in the handicapped troop over to have them retake their Youth Protection Training (mandatory every 2 years to recertify) and one of the Grandmothers comes in and sits in the large chair across from the computer.  Manét absolutely adores this lady, and he was over their in a shot to rub her legs and snuggle....  She gets the biggest kick out of him.  Later after they had left and it was just the two Commissioners here, Blackie comes over to me at the computer and starts to paw my leg.  That means either "Daddy, I'm Hungry, or Please pick me up!"  So I picked him up and held him while I talked with the other commissioner.  Immediately Blackie turns his head and licks my nose.  Nose kisses mean "Thank You" I think in kittie culture.  I thought the other guy would never stop grinning.  You gotta love those two kitties I have.  Total sweeties, they are!

OK, time to get back to packing for the Meet!  Later everyone!

Steven .... Even if you did name the website, it would not have been good advertising for them considering your experience. Thanks for the lasagna. I'll have a small portion of the vegatarian spinach, please.

Ray ... Flash flood warnings in your location. No fun. Good to stay off the roads. I can amagine your PIP would be a floater.

I'm getting the train bug again.  I have some scenery to do, plaster cloth and Gypsolite over foam.  Easy and fun.  The next step is a long, low cliff face.  It will hide the staging tracks.  I'm planning to use Bragdon Foam, as this is right at the front of the thin shelf section of layout, and Bragdon Foam produces the best rock castings by far, particularly when using their molds.  I bought a new mold at a show last spring.

I unpacked all that stuff and discovered to my dismay that the liquid components that I mix to produce the foam had long exceeded their shelf life and were useless.  By chance, I had saved the receipt from the mold I bought, and contacted the local vendor.  Yes, they had the foam, and I could just drive down the road and get it.  Mission accomplished.  Tomorrow, which is going to be cold and rainy anyway, I will do a test casting and then a couple more over the next week, which should give me enough for this project.  I'm not sure how I'll integrate these cliffs with the liftoff sections to access staging, but that's one reason I need to start so I can do the engineering.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Afternoon Diners,

I been trying to figure out the track plan with SCRAM on Kato unitrack. I was wondering if buying individual pieces or buying a M2, V3, & V4 sets. With extra pieces to spare. But I still need to get more switches.

Scram showed me that the M2 set wouldn't fit correctly. And adding V1 set with a #4 switch couldn't fit correctly also.

Ed They are Mint! Only wore them 6 months and then I hit a growing spurt. Grew 2 inch's in height and and added 20 pounds in a goodway.

Far as the Bessemer SD 7's. That is what K-10 Model Trains has them for. Main reason I lost to temptation.

Ray Sounds like your kittens are just as sweet as Sparkie The Rocket Dog. Never had a dog that gave as much love as he does.

Good morning diners.  I forgot to mention in Lumberton NC I saw 2 dump trucks fitted with train wheels rebuilding a grade next to a river. Is there a generic name for these rail/road capable trucks?

I also subscribed to MRVP and saw that UP is restoring a Big Boy.  Drew's Trackside Adventures E 15 or for facebook fans

I don't know who owns the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, but they got a C&O mallet from the B&O museum and are restoring that.

I am happy to see that and I wonder how many other Iron Horses are being restored?  And how does this work, I know Union Pacific has money and expertise to do it, but how does a scenic railroad have the money to purchase and do a full restoration and where does the expertise come from?  They don't teach that in shop class anymore.

I'm full of questions today and no answers.

Morning all

Hope everyone is ready for the weekend. I am FINALLY finished with the last delivery until December. - thank God. This past month had been BRUTAL ! Yesterday at w**k I had to call the police on one of the HOs. Parking is tight at the sight and we only have a few sales parking spaces in the sales area. There is a HO that is from a country where they have different levels of "society" and they treat us like we are below them and their servants Angry so they park their Porsche SUV in the sales parking lot. At the time I didnt know it was theirs and left a message that this was for sales only and if they park there again they will be towed ( we have college students, proffesors  and construction personnel from the college next door , it is a constant battle parking on our few parking spaces it is a constant battle)  it turns out is was our HO. They send me this nasty gram and it degenerated from there. No matter how nice amd proffesional I was they callled me names, threatened legal action etc.. At the end of the day I had had enough and called the police and explained to them this was private parking, clearly marked and that they were going to be trouble, in my thirty years I have NEVER had to call the police.

And on the last Home we delivered the dang HO got down on their hands and knees looking at their house !!!! Until I put a stop to that nonsense Angry They didnt like that and they had some ugly comments about that ! I tell you I do not know what has happened to people - this new generation feels intitled and I am not much impressed with some of the next generation of Americans. In fact I am ashamed of some of them and I feel awful that so many sacrificed so they could act like jerks !

Train front - Still waiting on my permit. Going on three weeks ! I am anxious to get the fdn in before the cold and freezing weather hits. It will only cost more if they dont hurry

For you non Facebookers

It's been 40 years since I was a habadasher (Galaxy word for the day meaning mens clothing salesman) and the first thing I noticed Surprise in the video was the curator's sport coats were too big and too long.  If you let your arms hang straight and curl your fingers the end of the coat should fit inside your hand.  Maybe he lost a lot of weight, which would be a good thing.
