Mornin' folks!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of blueberry pancakes with real NYS maple Syrup, a coule sausage links, and a large pot of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast Coffee to start the day.

Got up a little before 9AM to give Blackie his insulin, and the airconditioner was already running.......  Gonna be anotyher hot one here in the Finger Lakes Region I guess.  Currently 80°F with a high of 91° this afternoon.  Possibility that a thunderstorm will hit somewhere around here today, but not in Geneva....

(Shanny) Ken, my sympathies to you and yours on the loss of your FIL.  Do know that you are in my prayers!

Cuda Ken, do hope you will feel better very soon.  Way back when I was teaching in Waverly, NY and after the birth of our second son, we decided that we didn't want a larger family.  My wife had some bad side effects with the "pills" so it was decided that I should have the "operation".  About two weeks before mine was done another teacher, Mr Quinn, had the same thing.  Of course the week following that he was walking a bit funny, shall we say, as the swelling went down.  After mine, I had the same problem for a few days.  One of the 6th. grade teachers overheard a couple little 6th. grade girls discussing the "situation" and came down to my classroom at the end of the day that Monday.  She was in hysterics!  Most of the faculty knew what was going on, so.....  She told me that one of the little girls, asked the other, "What's wrong with Mr. Howard?  He's walking really, you know, funny?"  The other girl said, "I not sure, but I think he caught whatever Mr. Quinn had a couple weeks ago!"   The faculty had a "hey day" with all of that... Hope you will be walking better soon!

I already have several items on todays agenda to keep me out of the train room I see.  Best get at it!

Catch you all later!

Garry,

If I recall correctly, it was just north of Detroit in Pontiac. Amazingly, the turntable is still there!

Ken: My condolences to you and your family.

Flo, please get Ken whatever he may need to eat over the next few days and put  it on my tab.

Garry: I pulled it up on my of the prototype picture sites that I have bookmarked before I saw your post, but still good practice for me.

Shanny Ken .....  Condolences for the loss of your father in law..... Yes, he is in a better place now.

Ed .... I recognize the photo of the GTW Mike in the turntable pit. The location is in Detorit. I have seen a picture of red and silver Texas Special sleepers running through on a Pennsy passenger train.

Cuda Ken ... That sounds very painful. I hope you will be okay. I like the photo.

Bear ,,, I did read the MR edictorial where Neil mentioned your comments about the current price of a "dollar car". Congratulations.  ... I actually have a copy of the Dollar Car book which is decades old by now.

...

On the layout I worked on scenery today. Adding vegatation to the scene.

Good Morning!

I am not sleeping well these days. Waking up still being tired is an awkward feeling.

Janie, coffee by the gallon, please, and a cinnamon roll to go with it.

Ken (Amos) - I am sorry to hear about your FIL´s passing. My sincere condolences to you and your family.

The loco shown in my Avatar is developing major gearbox issues - again. Installing a new gearbox won´t solve the issue, as they are prone to wear quickly. I have put her up on sale on as is basis on Ebay, which will leave me with one loco at all. Fortunately, that one still runs, but also has a glitch. Looks like I will have a nice layout without a loco to pull a train Crying

Well, I have learned a lesson - don´t buy used Bemo locos as most of them do not have the improved drives Bemo started to use only a couple of years ago.

No, I am not a happy camper today!

Thanks for the cold one, Ken! Always a pleasure...

Glad that plug worked out for you, too. Sometimes those things are designed so you can only get a small electronic type screwdriver in there and there's not enough umph to get the screw loose! Worse than corroded battery terminals on a car.

On that health issue, I remember my son had a similar problem when he was an infant. Scared the living SP Daylights out of a new Mom & Dad. A doctor in the neighborhood was willing to have a look and he reassured us it was a common occurrence called hydrocele. Look it up, should be no major issue, I hope Thumbs Up

Love that photo, Ken! Must be Cincinnati?

Thanks for the welcome and the GTW/CN stories, Charlie.

Ken, Shanny10- My condolences to you and your family Angel

Gotta run for now, be back soon. Ed

Just a just a couple quick notes tonight... I am going to bed shortly.

First - Ken (Shanny10 Ken) - Condolences to you and your family. So sorry for your loss.

Second - Ken (Cudaken) - Could be a infection. I had one once, boy did it hurt! (Just don't ask me to spell it - Like most medical terms it looks like alphabet soup!)

Good night all, more to follow tomorrow.

 Evening Diners

Flo, Beer please and get Ed one as well.

YGW Boy do I undestand where you are coming from on the hired help! Back when I was in-charge of 8 states the dumb stuff my managers and there crew would do drove me nuts! Now that I am only a manager, well I have Jerry the Dunce. While he only messed up one thing (I think a record) on my two days off it would have been so simple to do it right. All he had to do was look at stock and not sale the floor model.

Far as the B&O coal cars I was planing on posting a phot.

Sure hope you dad fights off the infection. I do worry every time I go into the VA hospital that I might catch something new.

Train Front Thanks for the link you posted Ed! I was pretty sure that strip had to come off some how. I was luck that K-10 Model Train's was open tonight till 10:00 PM. While they had none of the need part for sale, owner Ken loaned me one from a used Empire Bulider he had there for sale.

Hooked up the new part, hit the on button, power light cam on and then the DB 150 started beeping and the power shut down to the rails. Turns out one of my loved B&O SD 7's BBQ a decoder. Crying Thanks to Ed I have a DC plug I can install to test the power draw of the motor! Yes If the motor is bad, well thanks to Tin Can I have a extra motor and the Proto 2000 SD's are not hard to take a part.

New Health Problem. I am sure most of you here have heard the phrase "He has Big Brass One's". Well mine are Big, about twice as big as normal but not made of Brass.  I will go to a local ER in the morning! There are a few things I won't trust the VA with, and these are one of them! While I no longer need them, I would like to keep them hanging around a little longer. Ouch Flo! Black Eye

Ken, running trains again! Big Smile

Evening everyone,

Could I get RBF and a slice of pie please. Haven't been in recent as I've been very busy with wife and mother in law over my father in laws health. He's had inoperable throat cancer for past 3 months and in a nursing home. This morning we recieved emergency call he'd been sick most of the night so I went to see him asap and had to get wife and MIL to home asap as well. He passed away at 5:55 and all the family but my youngest son was able to say their goodbyes. He did believe in a higher authority so we at least know hes gone to a better place and free of pain. One day we shall meet again. I haven't had a beer or alcohol in 23 years and really could have used one today, but it wouldn't have helped anything. Being sober I was able to comfort my wife and MIL and for that am grateful.

I think I will just sit in back booth awhile and relax. Today has really drained me as my FIL were really close and it feels like I lost my dad all over- we were that close.

Good Evening,

Ed, welcome to the Diner!  I too have #3734 that I acquired a year ago. It is a great little engine. I don't mind the sound at all, at least after I adjusted some of the volume levels. One thing I do like is the increase in chuff intensity and volume with the application of throttle. Just like the real thing at least from my memory. I was lucky in that CN ran steam here right through 1959 and I used to ride my bike to the mainline to railfan. I model CN but bought the GTW livery engine as the paint scheme is closer to CN than the BLI CN model. Go figure.

Well time to watch a couple more episodes of 'I Want My Wife Back'. It is a slightly quirky comedy produced by the BBC.

Evenin' Diners,

I know today's special is Tuna but I'm in the mood for something greasy and drippy. Any chance of getting a gyro with extra onions and cucumber sauce, Flo? Beer chaser to get those onions going?

Thanks for posting that interesting equipment move, Henry! See my other post on Broadway Limited's release of this engine in HO! Wow, makes me want to be a C&O fan. I have some of the Chessie Walthers cars, too!

YGW, The Shenandoah was the name of one of B&O's daytime coach trains. All I have is this grainy photo in my collection of the 4070 nee 3734. Engines falling into TT pits happened fairly often!

Low steam pressure = low air pressure = no brakes! Hostlers were always supposed to chock wheels but it didn't always happen that way.

This happened in June of 1955, a year before renumbering.

Garry, the RED on that Texas Special is SO red it hurts your eyes! (In a good way, of course)

Is anyone else having "technical issues" with all things internet related today? Photobucket and MR both are acting wierd. can't quote, can't copy>paste. Can't click to enlarge photos?

Make that Gyro to go, Flo... more chores to do before sundown!

Later—Ed

YGW sorry to hear about your dad's infection. Make sure they think about the orthopedic hardware they installed.  A veteran on another forum had a pain pump implanted twice.  Twice it got infected and it almost killed him.

Tried to install KD coupler in an Athean caboose and with the premolded coupler pocket, the lid was too tight to allow the coupler to swing.  I knocked the brake wheel stand off one side and the brake wheel on the other side broke at all the spokes and I didn't even touch it.

Good afternoon.

FRRY ... Terry's engines are a an NP U25C and a CB&Q U25C.

Ulrich .... The color scheme on some of the coaches in your Swiss train remind me of the color scheme of the Texas Special passenger cars. I like it.

Terry ... Recently Ricarossi upgraded its U25C model. Better wheels and better everything else.

Here is an older photo of my Texas Special. I was just learning how to use a digital camera, and I still had much to learn back then.

Afternoon, all! Lots of t-storms today, now windy and mostly clouds.

YGW: Custom. Up here it's mostly lakehomes, remodels and additions. High dollar stuff, but i would guess I am not as big a builder as you. We do everything but electric, HVAC , excavation and plumbing. I do have great subs for that. Keeps me in beer and gas for the toys. Smile

FRRY: I got it off the bay. #2500 and a U- something. It's a Rivarossi with the pizza cutter wheels. I had to redo some grade crossings for the deeper flanges since I haven't replaced the wheelsets yet. Runs like a champ though!

Here's a better side shot. One of you guys must know what it is!

I liked it so I bought it! It seems hard to find NP engines. I model 1972-3 after the merger. Lots of GN and CB&Q, not so much NP,unless you have a large bank account!Laugh

Mr. B - Man can you ship some of that low humidity and cool 70s weather here ? I am tired of the high heat and humidity !

I wish I could.  It's back in the upper 80s again.  Not as bad as last week, but, well, it's New England.  If you don't like the weather, just wait a few minutes.

Did the quote feature break?  I had to do that one manually with BB code directives.

The weather is still nice.  I need a good road bike ride.  I was really tired from hockey Tuesday night and felt exhausted yesterday, but I'm better now and planning to ride right after lunch.  My diabetes meds make me tired if I do NOT get enough exercise, which seems counter-intuitive, but that's the way it is.

Good Evening!

Me again! It´s evening alright! Time sure flies by when you are busy. Busy again? Why, of course! I packed up most of the scenic stuff, as I won´t be needing it in the foreseeable future. I might give a few things to my friend Lothar - the rest will go up into the attic. I need to check if there is anything I can sell up there I dearly want to have another loco, a string of modern Glacier Express cars and maybe a  few freight cars to run over my layout. I also hope that Z stuff will sell soon - just to get some of the cash back and to get it out of my head. I know I´ll be losing precious cash on it, but maybe I needed that experience to go back finishing my Swiss layout.

I also put up my fake Grand Central Station clock, which is now happily ticking away the time.

howmus
Ulrich, Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiicccceeee!!!!!!! You do incredible work even with your medical issues and difficulties. If I lived near you, I would buy that from you in a second! With the understanding that your start on another immediately....

Ray - thanks again for the kudos. I am quite please with the outcome so far. More details will have to come, but there are only two little things still on order before Christmas - the two typical Swiss train signal bells to be put up in front of the guard´s house and a set of benches. I ordered it from a source in China via Ebay, with the total cost less than any shipping charge from a German source would be! Those 5 benches (nicely detailed ones, but a bit off in the color) cost about $2.50, delivered vs some $ 11 from a German source.

However, I doubt that I will start a new layout once this has been sold. I´ll be putting off  the sale for as long as possible, but the layout has to be gone before we move, which will have to be earlier than I thought it would be. We have new tenants next door and they make life in this house, say, not very pleasant.

YGW - continuing Angel for your father!

Yup, I'm sure that it's ham.

FRRYKid - Yummy - Blue cheese ! Not sure about the mushroom part though.

Discovered it many years ago and just liked the taste of it.

saronaterry: I was looking at the picture in your post closely and have a question: What kind of NP engine is that? The number I see in the picture is one I can't find in the roster. (NP is my favorite road and given I model the mid-70s, I can sneak some equipment of thiers in.)

I will be driving to the Southern Tier (Hammondsport) early this afternoon to get one of my appointed officers signature asking for the Division to move to a different Region of the NMRA.  Looks like things have finally started to fall in place on this.

When I get back from that, I will start some of the cleaning out of the back porch area that needs to be done before the Faculty Picnic later this month.  May even get some quality time in the train room.  Who knows?

Catch you all later!

Morning all

Is it Moinday again ? It sure seems that way. The excavator was supposed to grade a row of single families and he didnt listen to me about how the grade was to be run and now we have a large crew show up to plant a tractor trailer load of trees on site this morning and they couldnt work because the excavator mechanic is a ROCK HEAD and stubborn and will not listen ! Then I found a door that is half the size it is supposed to be, installed in an opening with a wide open space above the top of the door with no drywall over the top of the door!! Now one would think that if you put a door in an opening and the door was to short then you would think someone would say "Gee there is something wrong here and I need to check with the boss" NOOOOO and to make matters worse the door was painted, door hardware installed ....No wonder I am about to have a heart attack !!! Bang Head Bang Head Bang Head

Father update and prayer request - They are still trying to find teh source of teh infdection. They are pretty sure it is in his intestine where they removed part of his intestines. He is not eating and with food he cannot sustain himself nor heal. I would ask those that pray please continue to do so.

ED - I didnt know they had a line called the Shenandoah. Neat. LOL - Yea that is better - trains Thumbs Up How did the engine fall off of a turn table ? I agree you got a great wife !!!!

Ulrich - Said "but Petra dragged me away from my trains," Say it aint so ! Ooooh no ! You have a good one Ulrich she looks after you even when you are doing something you love and getting to much of a good thing.

FRRYKid - Yummy - Blue cheese ! Not sure about the mushroom part though.

ATSFGuy - $18.21 to pay to listen to radio every month ? Wouldnt be cheaper to buy an ipad or one of those little electronic gizmos and down load the music you like and listen to it for free ? Heck thats a piece of rolling stock every month or a very nice engine at the end of a year. Each to his own but I am just to tight to pay to listen to a radio station. : )

Ken - Can you post a photo of the B&O cars I would love to see them on the RR !

Terry - So am I. What type of builder are you ? Custom ? Production ? Semi custom ? Production Custome builder ? We are the latter. We  buy land, develop the land, design the homes, build the homes and perform any warranty service that may arise. Nuts to bolts we do it all.

Mr. B - Man can you ship some of that low humidity and cool 70s weather here ? I am tired of the high heat and humidity !

Angel - Geez what type of dog is it ? Sounds like a nightmare ! What are you going to put back as a gate ? Wood again ? Metal ?

JaBear - You are not a subscriber ? Oh the horror, how can you live without MRR?

Gotto git back to w**k

Good morning ...

Ed ... I'm impressed with your GTW 2-8-2. .... Several years ago, I modeled GTW briefly, but it was the diesel era.. .... Sounds like you too had an interesting ride on the B&O. .... I like the Swiss photo. We have talked about making another trip to Europe and including Swiss railways in the trip. Ulrich has kindly put together an places to visit. But stuff keeps happening, and I don't know if we will ever retrun to Europe again.

Ulrich .... I watched your short video.... It looks like a fun layout.

Happy Model Railroading, everybody.

Morning diners,

yougottawanta

Angel - What is the gate made of ?

The current gate is made of old fence wood and lumber that we had leftover. The old fence was corroding away and replaced it with a red brick wall. Our wood fence was possibly temporary 5 years ago before my brother got the dog.

Before I start here. Can I have chocolate shake and a hamburger, thanks.

It's very busy here the past two days I haven't really sat down the my feet are hurting, and haven't done dishes or cooking because of my sister's dog.

Charles won't sit still, he moves around in/out side drinks a gallon of water every 10 minutes. He doesn't stop barking or biting your hands and face if he licks you. He's one energized toddler who's 5-6  years old thats hasn't been properly discipline.

We have told her to get rid of the dog multiple times. It's just to much dog for her to handle by herself.

I hope you guys have better days!

Good Afternoon!

I was quite busy this morning - nearly missed lunch, but Petra dragged me away from my trains, so I had a forced break!

Well, I took down the backdrop board from the wall, where I had put it up for the gone On30 layout. Taking it off left a few unsightly marks on the wallpaper, which I corrected with a couple of dabs of paint. In the process of doing that, I incidently dripped paint on the floor which I had to clean off before risking Petra having a heart attack. When that was done it, I cleaned the whole place and took the board to our home imrovement store to have it ripped to the correct size. Which they did - free of charge. When I attempted to mount it on the back of the layout, I found out I needed to cut away a bit of the scenery to get it positioned correctly. Did that, but left a formidable mess again, which I had to clean before  - you know, the heart attack thing. Actually mounting it took only 5 minutes. The whole let kept me busy for quite some hours. Now it´s done and I am back to running trains!

Just a few recent pictures, but before a reminder of what the plan once looked like:

And here are pictures I took a few moments ago:

Coming along!

Ed - that spiral viaduct near Brusio on the Bernina line of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) lends itself for modeling, just like the entire RhB network. Grades of 7% and a prototypical minimum radius of 20" in HO scale are a model railroaders heaven! Unfortunately, those Bemo locos and rolling stock are frightfully expensive, and so are all the buildings and accessories. I was lucky to get soem of the things I needed as  a gift from friends, locos and cars are second or even third hand and a lot of the scenic material I still had on hand. Without that, this layout would not be around.

Time for a rest!

Edit: No rest, I took another picture of the layout while running the "Glacier Express" down the line...

Gidday Zoe, I’ll start with a large mug of green tea, please and if Dear Participant  Question is still down the back would you please slip him my hip flask of Green Ginger Wine, just the thing on a cold winters night, just save a small dram or two for me.

I don’t know why in my case, but it would appear Ed that we are both blessed in our respective Significant Other Halves. A coffee table sized book 150 years of Rail in New Zealand came out about two years ago and at the time I thought while it would be a very good addition to my library, due to budget priorities I would take the risk and wait for it to appear on the bargain tables. How wrong was I, the book disappeared reasonably quickly off the local shelves and I thought that it was a case of the one that got away, win some, lose some! Well strike me pink!! Her-in-doors came home the other evening with a brand new copy, which she had found locally, she had paid the RRP but WOW!!! As she is a Trekkie from away back, I took her out to the latest Star Trek movie and a kebab afterwards. What a girl!!! (We both thoroughly enjoyed the movie).

Back in the late 80s a four part documentary was made on the history of agriculture in NZ and as the company I was working for had one of the original aerial topdressing planes, (Cropdusters, I believe is the US term) a De Havilland Tiger Moth in static storage, the documentary makers asked if they could use it for the presenter to sit in and do the relevant narration. My job was to give it a good clean and polish and position it as required. It was quite interesting and a good gig for me as filming took all afternoon and I only had to move it a couple of times, mainly for the suns position. To be fair though, and it happened few times as the presenter started his spiel, he would get interrupted by a helicopter or aircraft taking off, there still seemed to be a lot of faffing about for only a few minutes footage in the final cut. At least the presenter was a good bloke not like another one we had at a later date.

Now it has been bought up a couple of times here that something that I’ve written has been mentioned (quoted??) in Septembers MR, From the Editors column. Mike Lehman bought this to my attention in a WPF, “....our own Bear for his wise thoughts being cited by Ye Editor......” and I feel it is only fair to point out that wise and Bear are not words generally associated together, a probable oxymoron. Dunce I am waiting for the issue to turn up at the local newsagents to see what’s what, I guess this will teach me for being too miserable to subscribe.Bang Head Sigh Laugh

Dang screw will not turn! Tried turn the screw driver with pliers, dang thing would still not turn!

Ken, are you talking about the screws in the plug that goes into the front of the DB-150? Digitrax should be able to send you just the plug and you can strip the wires and replace the whole shebang.

Try working the plug out and maybe you can get a better grip on the screw. If you need a new plug, they're five bucks at Tony's and probably other places. (MB Klein, too)

Mornin' Diners...

Most of you are just getting up now, while I'm burning the midnight oil (4am oil!)

I wish the bar was still open, I need a hot toddy for a night cap but Edna has the liquor cabinet padlocked! State law, she says, no likker after 2 am! Harumph!

So, I'll munch on a few of last night's dry bread sticks and sip on some V8 (No not a Hemi, Ken!) the other V8.

Thanks for taking us to Switzerland, Ulrich. Many of us need a cool refreshing break and I'd like to sample some of the World's finest chocolate!

Every time I see your latout I'm reminded of this sweet little scene:

[OK, what's up with Photobucket today? I have to refresh before I can copy the link?]

I agree, Switzerland is His model Railroad!

Garry. I sure wish I was able to ride the Cap in her day! My dad took me on the Shenandoah from Akron, Ohio to D.C. just before Amtrak. He didn't believe me when I told him B&O had dome cars. After we got under way he asked the conductor if this train ever ran with domes. Yep, sure does—every other day! Had one on yesterday... boy, what a disapointed 12 year old! I sure remember going through Pittsburgh, though, several times, like Dante's Inferno and on the train you're right in the steel mills' back yard!

Brent, that film deal really sounds neat! Hope things go well for you and your family!

Hey, Ken! That photo you posted has a skyscraper in the background that looks just like two PCs stacked! What a clever building! Microsoft's HQ? Reminds me of the Longaberger Basket office shaped like a picknick basket (it's for sale if anyone wants a neat place for an office! Might need work though, I hear it's a basket case!)

Thanks for the welcome YGW! The deal is, I took a voluntary layoff. I'd rather have the time off and it actually saved two younger guys from being furloughed! Makes me feel good that it takes two young guys to replace me! I will "officially" retire on the first of September. I got my confirmation letter from GE and it opens "Dear Participant..."

What's that? 38 years with a company and I'm a "participant" geez, things have changed!

SO... on to better things! T-R-A-I-N-S Big Smile

Early yesterday I heard that wonderful sound of Buster Brown (UPS) coming up the driveway. Always a good sign (Sing the Wells Fargo song from The Music Man).

I was expecting an A-B set of F7s from MB Klein. Mr. UPS walks up to the door with TWO boxes! Aye? What's this?

Yep, one from Cockeysville, Maryland (glad it didn't go through Ellicott City) and the second box? The return address said Trainz, Buford, Georgia! Hold the phone—I didn't order anything from Buford?

Just then my my wife walks in and asks, wha'd 'ya get, huh? Suddenly I have the feeling she knows what's in the box.

So I tear into it and the foam peanuts are flying everywhere. UPS helped out by ripping one side away already.

I begin to see the familiar "Tuscan Red" box of Broadway Limited... Sure enough—Paragon2, BLI... USRA what? A 2-8-2? Grand Trunk Western!

3734! Hey, that's the 4070 (see avatar) HOW did she know? I didn't even know BLI did this engine. See, the 4070, which I had many personal encounters with back in the 1970s, started life as U.S. 373 in 1918 and was renumbered 3734 sometime after the Great War. She had that number until 1957 (or so) when lots of railroads were making room for diesels. Eventually the 4070 wound up in the Cleveland, Ohio area and that's when we bacame friends!

Here she sits behind the roundhouse. Don't worry about that #1 driver being off the rails. We'll have 'er back on in no time. (The 4070 fell into the turntable pit in Pontiac, Michigan around 1958 and the lead drivers have never been the same since)

Sweet, classic USRA design. Needs a few details here and there. A Coffin feedwater heater for one, the whistle moved off the dome for another... minor stuff.

In all my years of modeling, THIS is the first engine I've ever had that came with White Wall Tires (or Tyres, if you please). After my evening chores were done I couldn't wait to get to the layout and place this fine Alco product of 1918 on the head end of a string of cars.

That partly explains why I'm here writing this at 5 am! What FUN Yes

Yes, there's traction tires on 'er but that 'ol girl walked up a 2% grade with eighteen Walthers passenger cars and didn't even hiccup!

Admittedly, the sound is awful! I think BLI is taking a giant leap backward lately (but that's for another thread) maybe I'll get a little video posted for you to hear. Perhaps a WOWsound decoder is in the future for this hunk of iron.

Whew, once you get me started...

So now I'll turn the gavel over to our next contributor. Thanks for letting me spew forth all this hot air. I'll take my place back at the Rivet Counter!

Flo! Can I get that Hot Toddy yet?

Thoughts and prayers for all who need it... Angel

Take care, Ed

FRRYKid - Hawaiian omelet ? Pinapple in an omelet ? HHhmmmm? May have to give that a try one day.

You got to remember I'm one of those people that tends to like unusual combinations. Flo, on that subject, could I please get an order of breaded mushrooms with some blue cheese dressing. Thank you.

FRRY .... Sounds like you are ready for a big project.

Just a project I have been wanting to do for many years. Finally decided this is the right time to do it.

I also decided to get the forgotten 2x2 yesterday morning as there wasn't much to watch on TV. The yard is only a few blocks from my apartment. They actually let me pick the 2x2 that I wanted to use and even cut it for me at no charge. (8' turned into 3 30" legs with a 6" piece left over.) Being a woodworker myself, I was a little shocked at a few of the pieces they had for sale. They were warped like crazy. (Something that one might use for building an arch on a door or something like that.) The piece I picked was a little twisted on one end (maybe 2 to 3 degrees) but for legs I decided that the amount wasn't a major problem.

The other problem I ran into: the battery on my cordless drill (which is in town) doesn't seem to be holding a charge. After looking online at the cost of a replacement battery, I decided a better option is to get a drill kit with two batteries that I saw where I work. (Same drill and everything as I have.) Then I would keep one drill on the layout and the other one would stay in town. (Less likelyhood of something getting forgotten that's needed in the other place like I did with a pen on Sunday.) The other tool I will need to see if I can remember where it is is my jigsaw. Same problem as I have with Dad's corner clamps. (I don't remember the last time I used it and where I put it.)

I don't know if everything needed will be done in the few hours I will have, but I can hope. If not, the weather is still warm enough yet that I shouldn't have a problem.

Good Afternoon all,

Work Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, Sat for this week, (wed, sun off).

Listening to "Cruisin with Cousin Brucie" on my IPhone. Some of you may know or heard of him. He plays everthing! deeper 60's, some early 70's, a handful of pre-64, and lots of other lost gems and favorites the Major Market FM's refuse to play anymore. Good stuff!

It's too bad Kearth 101 dosen't have a specialty show like this, It's amazing!

Because I have Siruis XM on my IPhone and Desktop, i'm getting it for about $18.21. which is a good deal because i'm paying to hear what I WANT!

I have about 19 channels right now in favorites.

Been thinking about my next passenger train purchase (I welcome your feedback)

This is supposed to be a Cotton Belt Local:

- Atlas RS3 "Cotton Belt SSW" Black Widow Scheme #360

1. BLI SP Morning Daylight 1941 Prewar Baggage Chair 3303

2. BLI SP Morning Daylight 1941 Chair Car #2485

3. BLI SP Morning Daylight 1941 Chair Car #2485

4. BLI SP Morning Daylight 1941 Chair Car #2485

5. Bachmann Spectrum Heavyweight Daylight Coach #1014

Unfortuately, no SSW passenger cars are made, so I'm using a few from BLI. SSW Alco's pulled cars with the exact same colors.

 Afternoon Dinners

Flo, Beer please and keep them coming!

Rotten Day Bang Head Started out with lots of running, I was out of the house at 9:30 AM and did not get home till 1:00 PM. Then I had to take the wife to a Doctor appoiment, because there was a 15% chance it might rain? Whistling Not a cloud in the sky, but it could. Not a drop on the rain on the windsheild either way! I all so do not understand why she cannot drive in the rain anyway. Confused

No Train Front Tonight. Started up the B-Line first and as soon as the SD's started to move the DB 150 beeped and the engines stopped. There was no power to the layout? Moved the SD's and hit the power again, nothing. I then saw there was no power to the DB 150, checked the plug and other items pluged into the power strip. Only thing not working was the DB 150.

Found the problem! One of the power in wires had backed out of the DB 150, should be a easy fix! Yes NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!Bang Head Dang screw will not turn! Tried turn the screw driver with pliers, dang thing would still not turn! I added a little oil to the screw and going to let it set over night. If I cannot get the screw to back off, guess it will be taking a trip back to Digitrax!

To keep my sanity I am listeing to a mix of Acoustic Alchemy and UP Train Sounds. While it is helping, I much rather be watching the layout run.

Most dissapointing thing is I got two more Tyco Old Duch Hoppers on the rails last night. They made 3 rounds so I was looking forward to seeing them being hauled tonight. Think this is the first train less night in 10 years. Sad

YGW Do I have the B&O coal cars on the track yet? Laugh Heck they are half worn out by now! If I where to guess they have been around the A-Line 200 times. 200 X 91' is what, 18,200 feet or 3.5 miles. I am sure James May would be proud of some of the miles I have on my trains! (built a 20 mile long HO Train Track to set the worlds recored.)

I love to Watch James May known as Captain Slow on Top Gear.

 Later, Train Less Ken

Afternoon, all! 86f and very humid.

YGW: Yes, I am. Started early today and finished forming footings. Inspector will look tomorrow and we pour Friday. Then set forms for the foundation. Cap it the following week and start going up. By then the other trades(subs) should be ready to move over and we go back to the first one to insulate/ rock.

that's all for now!
