Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of raison Bran Cereal with skim milk, a large pot of Seneca lake Blend Dark Raost coffee, and my R&GV RR Mug please...

Sun has been trying to shine here in the Finger Lakes this morning.  that is always a good thing here.  Currently 73°F outside.  yep that is not a typo!  73°F   I am going to get out a fold up cot I have in the shed, and set up in the back yard and get some sun on my back and sides....  That should help quiet down the psoriasis.

I went down to the ENT Doc this morning for my annual check up (needed for CPAP Supplies) only to find out they changed my appointment to 10:15...  I didn't catch that from the mumbling on the answering machine last week.  I did after several listenings figure out I have to take the SD Card over to the Place I got my CPAP from to have them download the info and send it over to the Doc.  I knew I should have called to confirm my appointment.  They gave me a new appointment for next week....

Prayers for all on sick call...  Have a good day!

Morning diners,

I got the confirmation on my Amtrak station and NYC baggage car.

To answer your question YGW, measure the original parts than convert it. It might easier to say than explain. When I get the parts like styrene, windows, doors, etc I will build it. And maybe in the future I'll show a picture, when it's complete.

Just stopping by to say I am still around, but not feeling well.

Henry - thanks for the film about Berlin in the year 1900. Unfortunately, this film is a fake, a lot of the scenes were filmed much later and at quite different locations, i.e. London, Paris and Munich.

I go hiding in the backbooth for the rest of the day.

YGW: glad you made it through, stopping hearts is a common proceedure for proceedures these days. It's only when your heart stops when you don't expect it like mine did and you die that you have to worry! Fortunatley I was at work, though sick with walking pneumonia...if I had stayed home sick, I wouldn't be here today, as I would have been alone, and my heart gave no warning of stopping! Watch for a PM by weeks end.

Barry: glad to know you are still here, too!

Ulrich: Wherefore art thou, Ulrich? tell us what the Dr, said that has you contemplating the shortness of life. We are here to support you!

Remember ULRICHOut of difficulties grow miracles. ~~Jean de la Bruyere

ANDAccept the things to which fate binds you, and love the people with whom fate brings you together, but do so with all your heart.~~ Marcus Aurelius

Mr. Otte: hope you are over your cold...

anyone else in sick bay: best wishes for speedy recovery!

Me? 13th week of fighting pneumonia!!!! I THINK I am gaining on it, though.

Good Evening Diners,

Brunhilda, I'll have an Earl Grey tea with cream and honey, please.

Had a good day at work, today.  Had some sales.

YGW:  Glad to hear everything went alright and that you are home.   You and SIL are in my prayers.  A friend of mine some years ago was fixing a toilet, had a heart attack and died.  Glad you are ok.

Ride on:  Congrats on the certification.

Barry:  Hang in there and heal quickly.

Ray:  That's great that you could shave your time.  3 minutes is amazing.  Speaking of amazing, how's that bridge model?

Hello to everyone, and I hope everyone is OK, safe, and warm.

Less is more,...more or less!

Hey all

Came through the operation fine. Didn't know this until they were finished they actually STOPPED my heart and restarted it. Hmmmm might have been bit more nervous if I had known...

Garry  thanks for the comments how has she felt with your heart condition since ?

YGW ... Glad you are already in the Diner. I'm very pleased to hear your operation went well. .... Shelley has been with me for each of my six heart operations, and it was good to have her at my side as they rolled me into the OR. It is likely my 7th heart operation will be before 2016 is over, and it will be good she will be with me then. .. Of course The Big G looks out for me, but I won't say more so I don't digress into religious conversation. ...... Continuing Angel as you recover.

Barry .... I hope your temp goes down and you can go home. ..... Continuing Angel for you too.

Ulrich .... Hope you had a better day. Angel

Galaxy ... Angel Keep improving with your breathing.

Good evening diners.

Glued some cork sheets to the benchwork for the yard.  From China, very brittle 2x4 rolls.

Returning the favor to Ulrich, this is colorized, high resolution of pre WW I Berlin.  Equal mix of Panama hats and bowlers.  Great old cars, trucks and buses and at 3:05 a steam truck pulls into the picture.

hmmm this isn't playing for me.  The link is https://youtu.be/B-m9A8mY-U0

I was successfull and a very out of breath old guy shaved 3 minutes off his time..

Way to go, Ray!  Thanks to this stupid cold, I've had no exercise in a week.  If nothing else, it's going to be 70 degrees here tomorrow, and I'll go out for a long walk.

Well, I'm now an official Walthers mail-order customer.  With the closing of my LHS a few months ago, I've no longer got the convenience of ordering through the shop and just driving over to pick things up.  I ordered a motor and a new decoder to replace the burnouts in that subway car.

Chloe, I could use a cup of your best dark roast decaf please and (shhhh!) a couple creme filled donuts, please.

I am busy with NMRA stuff today...  Have to get the newsletters collated and ready to mail, and I finally got an updated membership list from the Region, so I can updfate my file and get in touch with any of the new members...

Prayers for those needing them, and I think there are several today!

I now have a new skill to add to my resume. I am now a "Certified Piano Technician" after completing the piano technician course offered by the Piano Technician Academy. It doesn't mean I have skills, just that I have book smarts.

Morning diners,

I forgot to mention that I got the Walthers Cornerstone HO Scale Amtrak Station. It will be my first official HO kit, if I decide to switch scales when I model the SP and AMTK.

This kit will help me to convert the station into N. It will be a huge structure building project.

Waiting for Walthers to send me an email on the order.

I hope your enjoying the rest of the day diners.

where is everybody else?

Going nowhere in particular.  I'm still fighting this cold after 10 days of coughing.  I called in sick to hockey tonight.  It's a little better every day, but I've still got a couple of days to go.

I think I'll do some work on scenery today.  Carving foam into the general outline of the covers for the staging tracks is the easy part.

Garry - I go in Tuesday at 11am. Keep MOH in prayer. Her first husband she lost to a heart attack ( while she was preganant with their daughter when he passed ) and when I gave her the news of what the docs said she started crying really hard. I reassured her it would be okay, but you know women they just worry to much.

YGW

YGW --- Your wife's emotions about your situation remind me of my wife, Shelley, when she learned I have congestive heart failure. She had similar circumstances with her family as your wife had, and she was very upset at the news. .... That was 15 years ago. We have had many fun and wonderful experiences over the 15 years since then. Most of the time my life has been pretty much normal. ... However, there have been some scary events in those years. My heart has sometimes stopped beating, but it has been restarted each time. .... As I sometimes have said, I have had the near death experiences. I certainly know there is something waiting for us after our bodies die. I know some of our loved ones have already paased away and they are now in a better place.

There are other Diners with heart disease. I suspect their wives also have experienced similar emotions as your wife is going through. ... In my case, I am very thankful for my wife, and I bet others feel that way about their wives. Praying for you that your procedure goes very well

Ulrich .... You said you are "contemplating life's finitenes". Don't forget to enjoy every minute while you do so. Life is a wonderful gift, and we should all be thankful for it.

Happy Model Railroading, Everybody !

I read once that John Stockton's resting heart rate was around 30 bpm. He had the heart of a horse.

When I was in my 30s and riding my bike over a thousand miles a year, my own resting heart rate was 40.  I would say, "No wonder I have a hard time getting up in the morning.  I'm a third of the way to dead."

Good afternoon, all.  Busy day so far.  I picked up a new tail light lense assembly for the 2006 Colorado to replace the one I broke last fall and glued back together using Walther's Goo.  Had to go to the post office to send in my passport renewal as they advise sending by a traceable mailing method.  Took the dog for a long walk this afternoon and then bought her dog license.

Getting ready to head for the basement and add more roadbed.  Sharing a picture of the progress below along with a picture of Adele, the rescue airedale.

Have a great day.

YGW, I finally got my camera flash working and took a picture of my plate glass sharpening set up so you could see it.  I start with a oil stone for rough sharpening and then move to the plate glass/sandpaper sharpening plates.  The plate glass pieces are 4 x 8-1/2 and are 1/4 inch thick.  Sand paper with progressive grit is glued to the plate glass using 3M spray adhesive.  I use 60 to 300 mesh sand paper.  The end result is a very sharp chisel or plane blade.

Hope your procedure goes well tomorrow.
