Here is LION. Here id Diner. Empty is diner. LION will have a six-stack dripping with butter and syrup. Him will have a Wildebeest saussage, and a tall glass of oranje guice.

LION still not get to train room, but him is walking better and better

Now is time for LION to go to church. I have herd of LION KING, and this is feast of the KING, but somehow I do not think that they had LIONS in mind on this feast. LION gets to ROAR in church every time Psalm 104 is read. Must content himself with that.

Good morning..... Where is Lion this? In his absense I'll have a sticky bun with coffee.

Lion ... Are you recovering enough so you can work with your subway layout?

Robert ... Congratualtions for the baby daughter and for moving. It is good to be able to watch trains at home.

Tin Plate .... Old Lionel trains can be a lot of fun. New ones, however, can be a bit pricy.

Galaxy .... Glad to see you in the Diner. Your move to the new house should be a happy time, and it is sad the other stuff is going on.

V8 Dennis ... You've had more than enough car problems lately. Hopefully, all of that is behind you now.

JohnBoy ... Nice Normam Rockwell Thanksgiving painting. Hard to beleive it i already almost here.

CGW121 .... Snow ? Who wants that ?

Does anyone have plans for their model railroad this weekend? I've been busy with other stuff, but I have worked on my 1/87 Chevy truck model lately.

No kidding new stuff is pricy... Most of mine is bulletproof old family stuff. My grandfathers, great uncles, and the like.

Galaxy, I have to wonder why you bought a house with this woman, given her history.

I've had the same question since the house hunt began.  I guess the big question now is, will the sale of the trailer and purchase of the house fall through as a result of this latest episode?

I completed my small 1947 Chevy flatbed truck for my lumber yard. I already made a flatbed truck from an old Chevy COE. I think it was a 1940 Chevy COE, but Frank can correct me. ... Both trucks are for delivering retail lumber. ... The 1947 truck began as a Sylvan Models 1947 tractor. The COE was a rosin kit made by Stoney Mountain Models, and I put it together about 2 years ago. .... Both of them have flatbeds I made from styrene.

The newer model is the smaller truck on the right in the picture below.

Garry,

The Model You have of the 40 Chevy truck, is close enough.

Take a look at one that sold for 6,000 $$.....needs a liitle work..Smile, Wink & Grin

http://www.desertclassics.com/Sold1/Chev40COE.html

You did a good job on the Sylvan...Yes

I got a couple of truck projects going right now...but they are on hold, until My body recovers from getting old, crawling around under the corner of the layout. Finally working on the back drop corner where the Transload Terminal will be. I have been building it so it can be removeable...so takes a lot of fiddling....now I've become obsessed with finishing it. Also got some projects that are to be in the ATHS publication and got a Feb. 15 deadline to get it in...so I've been a busy camper.

Now that Galaxy let everyone know what's going on....I don't know if anyone read My post before... that He was probably trying to get issues resolved on the Home front first...lot of things to think about, before getting saddled with a mortgage. That's all I'll say about that.

LION arrives in the Dining Car... A loaf of French Toast would be just fine. Railroads seem to specialize in French Toast.

Bread? I thought they were made from French Hens!

Oh well, LION cannot have everything ewe know.

Leg of LION is healing, him has done some walking about upon it iwthout the walker, but the walker is still needed. I will send the power chair back to the store room where we keep power carts. Maybe somebody knows of how to keep batteries good while in storage. Maybe the batteris should come out and be placed on some sort of a device to keep them in condition for a few years until the cart(s) (we got lotsa carts) are kneaded again.

Good Morning Diners,

Flo, might I have an extra large cup of coffee with lots of cream, please.

Galaxy:  my sympathy for you.  Either way, it looks like a tough situation.

Garry:  Nice truck models.  That looks like the old Atlas Lumber Yard.  I always wanted to team up one of those with a lumber shed from the old Glen Wagner  Boy's Life layout.  Perhaps someday.

Work Front:  The problems are settling down for the moment.....I think!  We at work have been talking about our supply line.  We're going to have to address it with the owners because the warehouse is hanging us out to dry on a lot of things.  I've already had one woman tell me she is going to give us a zero rating and tell all of her friends.  It only takes a couple of those to really hurt business.  The sales mgr and I were talking about maybe taking on an additional cabinet line.  Dunno!  We'll have to see.

We just had the first snow of the winter.  It was a big flake heavy warm snow.  Pretty, especially on the trees.  Then it got cold into the teens.  Oh how I hate winter.  Winter always makes me wish that I'd never left So Cal!

I hope everyone is OK, safe, and warm.

Less is more,...more or less!

We also had snow, wound upwith about 8" or so. Thankfully my nextdoor neighbor just got a new snow blower and he cleaned off all the sidewalks and driveway aprons on our side of the street. I have some great neighbors! He is also a railfan.

Thanksgiving is our families big holiday. All the kids, spouses and grandkids will be here. A good meal is planned then the men and kids of all ages will head to the basement to play with Papas trains.

                                      Happy Thanksgiving!!

Lion,

Take the batteries out of the carts and store them in a heated area/room and put them on wood, like plywood or boards. Don't put them on a concrete floor, it will drain the life out of them. Don't let them freeze.

I already had breakfest....time for a nap now!

Good Afternoon,

After I had unintenionally caused a storm in a tea cup in the Diner, I thought it better to stay away for a little while and let things settle down before returning. Things are still rough at this end, but I try my best to keep my head above the water.

I used the time to tinker around with my layout. One of the jobs I got done was building the control panel.

The 6-pole socket for the PWM controllers still needs to be incorporated - it has just arrived in today´s mail. I still wonder how the company supplying these can stay in business with prices below shipping cost from a German source!

I also won one of my favorite Swiss narrow gauge electrics off teh "fleabay" for very little money. Although it ran (somehow) when I got it, I knew it needed a little more tinkering to turn it into a performer.

Yesterday was the day to vamp up my newly acquired Furka-Oberalp HGe 4/4 I. What was intended to be a "simple" installation of the detail parts ended up in a major surgical effort. No, I didn´t "cut me fingers", but when I opened the loco for cleaning and lubricating, I found out that the two motors were not synchronized, each running at a different speed. The loco was equipped with two decoders, but not speed-matched. It was a quick decision - the decoders had to go! This is not my type of job, so I was lucky to enlist the help of a train nut friend of mine living only 5 miles away from my place. The drive proved to be some kind of adventure, as we had a little snow storm just when I started out.

To cut a long story short - after about 3 hours the decoders were out, the wiring redone, the detail parts installed and some missing roof details replaced.

It´s a nice looking loco now, still a bit noisy, but that will eventually go away. There is a bit of a gnarling sound in tight curves, which I could not yet identify, but I hope this will also lessen when the loco is run more often.

Here are some pics:

P1100288_zpsngr8vke6.jpg

P1100290_zpsz6w9tnxs.jpg

P1100292_zps9obzdk5t.jpg

Installing the hand rails was a real PITA, but after a countless number of good old German curses I finally succeeded. Bemo´s current release of this loco has plastic handrails, which are a lot easier to install, but don´t look as good!

Good to see Galaxy back in the Diner, although I am saddened to hear about the ongoing family issues.

Ken - still looking for ideas for a new layout? Just let me have the specs once more and I´ll have a look what I can do for you!

Have a good one!

Good morning ... ....

Who ate all of the French Toast ? .... Lion !

Frank ... Thanks for commenting. ... If I ever want to weather the old Chevy COE, I can use a photo of the one in your link for an example. The buyer has a lot of work to do. .... I'm thinking of adding an extra mirror and wiper to the 1940 truck. ..The Sylvan model was a fun kit. ... So I'll go ahead with buying the White tractor you suggested soon. In addition, I'm looking at a covered stake truck for hauling grain. ...

UP831 ... Yes, it is the common Atlas lumber yard. It was a Christmas gift to me, and I felt I should include it on the layout. Of course, I added lumber, figures, and other details. Painted it some also.

We're busy preparing for Thanksgiving now. Two of our kids are coming with their families for the 4-day weekend. ... Model Railroading will be mostly on hold this week.

I am back at work this morning and again tomorrow so progress on the LM&E will be slow for awhile.

It is -10 this morning, but no wind so it is quite pleasant and no new snow has fallen. which is great for the 23 of November.  No complaints here.

Better look like I am working here, so I'll catch you later.

Ah, good.  Ulrich's new locomotive has a snowplow.

We've got 40 degrees right now, the likely high for the day, but it's sunny and bright and I'll probably get out for a short walk.  This cold has shut down my exercise program for a few days, which I know I'll regret.  It's also shut down my beer program, which kind of balances out the lack of exercise.  The long-range forecast says "Rain/Snow" a few times, letting us all know that even the weather people can't figure out what's going to happen in New England.

Oh brrrr.  Greetings from the cold SE Ohio River Valley.  We are having a taste of winter today with a chilly breeze and 41 F.  Did a little outside work knocking the form boards off the porch foundation.  Not real happy with the slow setting of the Sakrete used for the footing foundation.  I poured it Friday and it still has not set very well.  i guess the lower temperature is at play although I have poured much larger footings in colder weather but that used commerical ready-mix and not the stuff in 80 lb. bags.

No progress on the layout as I am committed to the porch project.  With coolder weather I would rather be in the basement working on the layout.

Uhlrich, the new engine is impressive.

I need a cup of hot tea and then a cool walk for my daily exercise.

Good Afternoon,

We had a balmy 30F here today but it won't last. The ground here is white and will likely stay that way until April. Not a lot of white stuff, only a few inches.

Not much new here. We did finally get the new TV out of the box and found that it was too low for good viewing on the stand we have so on Saturday we ordered a new stand. It should be here in a couple of months so the new TV is back in the box.

I think we are in the final stretch for the bathroom reno and I told my wife I had drawn a line in the sand with a Christmas deadline. Mind you sand can shift so who knows. I sure hope so.

I have been running trains a little and have my passenger cars on the layout now. I have to store them off layout as I just don't have enough siding space. They will be pulled by the Pacific and maybe the Mountain or even the Northern.

Nice to see Ulrich back.

Well soon time to get supper started.

Today I earned a number of husband-brownie-points. My wife is now driving a 2014 Kia Sorrento, courtesy of Hertz Auto Sales. I have banked enough for a couple of decent screw-ups on my part.

Unfortunately, I need to confess one of the seven deadly sins--lust. On the way home we stopped at a piano dealer and I played a new Boston grand piano. Oh my.

Morning all. It's a very sad one for me

My NASCAR driver has officially retired and I'm bummed about that.

Last night I found out my kitten was hit and killed by a car on Sunday, he was barely thee years old Crying I've been crying non stop since then. He was this beautiful black with pure green eyes, a cat version of the dragon toothless from the kid movie "how to train your dragon". H was so sweet.

I'm dreading what's next since bad things always come in threes.

Hope you ll have a better week than I am

Good Afternoon!

Over 15 hours of no one showing up for a sip of coffee and a chat! Vinnie is seriously pondering to close this place!

Flo, coffee and a cinnamon roll, please!

Richard - I like the Kia Sorrento very much! They have come a long way since the first model was put into the market. Put a Landrover tag on them - no one would notice!

I have made a short video of my "new" used loco:

The noise level has not yet improved, which is a major drawback to this otherwise very nice loco. I wish I could afford a new one - one fine day ...

Jimmy - I am feeling with you Angel

I´ll be staying at the RC for a while to see who´s dropping by.

LION comensurate with you on the loss of the kitty. We had to put my 18 year old cat down. They waited until I was out of town, and then shot her. I new that they were going to do it, and she was so helpless sitting on the carpet next to my warm stack of computers, but still, I do miss her. Cometimes I call my other cat by her name.

Good morning ..... Coffe and apple strudel please (because Ulrich is here)

Ulrich ... Your nice looking engine looks good as it runs.

Jimmy .... That's sad about your cat. Of course, losing a pet is a painful experience.

Anngelob660 .... The Thomas Edison quote is a good one. There are many examples in the model railroading world to be sure.

CN Charlie .. You are a correct about lines drawn in the sand and teh sand shifting.

We continue to be busy getting ready for Thanksgiving. ... Not much model railroading to report from me.
