Morning Fellas, there has been no Gals that I know of that have been in here for quite a spell, at least since Sue stopped posting. I hope she and Larry are doing well.
Vinnie, Please don't close the Diner, there is a lot of lost souls here who wouldn't know where to go or get their next meal. If things get really tight I would bet that Br. Elias and I would volunteer some hours to help keep you afloat.
Chloe, My usual this morning please, Oatmeal, raisens and cinnamon with milk, a blue berry bagel with peanut butter and a HC. Thanks much.
Garry, Is your Union Station a pull through or a back into? I have never quite figured that out.
Jimmy B. Very sad news, I am sorry to hear about your puss cat. Even in their aloofness they do become close friends and part of the family.
Can't Remember who right now, but Who ever Who is, congratulations on the new Baby in your family.
Ulrich, Glad you found your way back, you are always missed when you step aside for a breather. Nice little "Juice Jack" you picked up. I hope it wears in well and quiets down.
Here is an early one of Norman Rockwell's works. It will soon be 100 years old.
Norman Rockwell – The Baby Carriage (1916) The Saturday Evening Post (May 20, 1916) - Curtis Publishing Company
V8 Vega, Dennis, Did I miss something awhile back or did you mention your Christmas Sojourn to Oregon ? Did you get your tickets yet or have you spent your WAD fixing up your cars ?
Washed up some construction models last evening to get them ready for painting over my next couple of days off. When I see the work that David did on that CP. Station, I almost get intimmidated and think I don't think I can ever measure up to that, but, I am stubborn enough to keep plugging away anyway. It is amazing what you learn and improve upon by just keeping at it. And I have been at it a long time, dontcha know !!!!!
Again, I had better get back to work here as I have never been fired in my life and I don't want to start that at age 75
Hope all is well with you all or at least getting better. Want you all healthy by Christmas..
Have a great Day Gang, will check in later.

Well gotta get back to w**k

With nothing better to do on this rainy afternoon, I thought it would be nice to complete the control panel. As the two sheets of acetate glazing were a little wobbly, I bought a cut to size piece of 4mm plywood to be attached behind the glazing. I still have 4mm plywood on stock, I was just too lazy to get the circular saw and cut it and vacuum the whole place afterwards. It cost me a whopping 23 cents!
I then went over to my friend Lothar´s to use his drill press to drill the necessary holes and openings for the parts to be added.
The little push button switch will actuate a sound device with that typical Swiss engine whistle a friend of mine recorded on a RhB Ge 4/4 II some time ago. That´ll be fun - and Petra will certainly not be pleased, but I am going to love it
Installing it will be a mess - I have to cut a rectangular opening into the frame of the benchwork and I am sure Petra will neither appreciate the noise the jig saw will make nor the dust all over the place. It won´t happen soon, maybe some time between Christmas and New Year, but that day the wiring will also be finished.
I was at my favorite tavern last night, listening to one of my favorite groups. OK, it's just two guys with guitars, but they do a bunch of old Beatles, Buckinghams and Zombies songs. I sing along to most everything. I had my first beers since last week when I came down with this cold. They tasted great.
My daughter was in town for lunch, so we went to the local Japanese place and had sushi earlier today.
I stocked up at the supermarket so I wouldn't have to shop tomorrow. I'll be having Thanksgiving with my old college friends as usual, and I'll bring a couple of vegetable dishes, again as usual. With the wife in Florida and the daughter in Maine, once again it looks like I'll be representing the family by myself.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
My wife Elaine and I sympathise with you Jimmy. Over the last four years we have lost two cats that came to us as kittens. We had a family renting next door to us who used to go away for days at a time. The animals that they had in the less than the 12 months they lived there were, dogs, cats, a goat that would you believe, they tethered with binder twine. Of course he chewed through that in 10 seconds flat then decided to hop over the fence and started to decimate our orchard. They had a duck or two and chooks as well. None of these critters were ever fed on a daily basis as far as we could make out.
One morning I went out and here were these two kittens curled up asleep alongside food we had put out for the wild birds. The plates were empty and the kittens were obviously the culprits. When they woke up they walked back 'home'. This behaviour carried on for about three mornings and then we realised that the tennants from hell had absconded still owing rent. But what really blew both Elaine and myself away was that this last morning, as the kittens started to head back next door, 'father cat' blocked their path and ushered them back towrds us. This happened about three times until both the kittens and ourselves, got the 'message' - they were meant to stay here with us.
Sadly, because of kidney issues they both had to be put to sleep within four years. Our house was not a happy house for a couple of days after that and neither my wife or I had a dry eye. We have pleasant memories of the time that they were with us - but we certainly do miss them still.
I'm supposed to respect my elders, but its getting harder and harder for me to find any now.
I can sympathize with Diner patrons who have lost their feline companions. Here's my Frisco when he was about six months old. He passed away in his sleep from unknown causes on his second birthday.
Yes, all my cats are named for railroads. So far, I've had Pennsy, Miss Katy, Santa Fe, Frisco, and Clinchfield.
I gotta go home now. This office gets way too dusty before the holidays.

Good Evening,
Well it appears Johnboy is sending me some white stuff just so I don't forget the season. Oh well, at least I don't have to shovel it.
Say, where is Ray? Odd he hasn't been in here for 2 days. Hope he is ok.
I went to see my Urologist today for my 6 month check and he wants to do a biopsy as my PSA is up. It is still in the normal range for someone my age but it has gone up enough in the last 6 months that he wants to be prudent. Test is set for the end of Feb. The procedure only takes 10 minutes or less but still not something to look forward to. Oh the joy of getting older, just never quits.
I have been laying some sidewalks on the N scale layout. I'm just waiting for the glue to dry before I put down another section. I'm using Aileen's Tacky Glue. Good stuff. Once the sidewalks are all down I have a Siken Tire factory to assemble. I spray painted the brickwork in the summer as my wife doesn't take kindly to doing it in the house, something about a paint smell.
Have a good evening,
CN Charlie
well, closing is tomorrow. Cannot wait.
Why buy the house? because things WERE looking up...at counselling especially when MOH said "I need to look at why I behave the way I do"...and said " I like to flirt". I said "flirting alone doesn't lead to something....but you make it GO to something". I said I may be mad at knowing about something going on, but I far more madder at finding out you are lying after the fact. in fact I can tell when you are lying,,,,your voice quivers". I also put up a bogus profile on one same dating site that I know MOH is on,and it shows me when MOH is on, MOH forgot that. SO I know when MOH is online there.
The other day? well, it turns out instead of "X" friend, MOH was with a new "Y" friend I think MOH is hoping will lead somewhere, but it may not."Y" is an old work aqcuaintance of MOHs. I kinda approve of a friendship with "Y". I asked if it was so hard to tell me THAT. MOH siad "you'd react like you are now"{I was angry}..I said that was ANGRY because i found out about the lying FIRST. I may NOT approve of goings-on before hand, but I am far more angrier finding out later.
My bogus profile has created some interest, however. MOH is a bit miffed at that, as I have someone interested in ME and MOH thought THAT would 'never happen"..The shoe PINCHEs and HURTS MOH when on the other foot. In fact moh said "I can't believe there are more interested in you than me"!!! {HA,Take THAT}. Schtuff Happens I said! What's good for the goose, is good for the gander, two can play this game! For now anyway.
Why else?
well, if there is a divorce I I I I will get the house, and since MOH has far more income than I do, I should get alimony! SO I win win win. No matter what.
So, enoughh of that. MOH and I picked out paint colors and bought paint.
We will go right after closing wiht a mninivan full of boxes to go start moving in.
I will cook TG dinner {turkey; giblet gravy; smashed taters {potatoes, butter sour cream, chives mashed together}; Butternut squash {wiht butter and brown sugar}; broccoli; corn; homemade cranberry sauce {whole berries, orange zest, sugar}; punkin pie with real whipped cream; homemade Key Lime Pie;orange slices on the side.} at the new house! MOH will miss the parade.
Our friends who were going to help on Sat. had a death in the family. Our friend's ex-wife, still a friend after teh divorce there. SO they will be out. "Y" friend is going to try top help, though. AT least then I can keep an eye on those two!!! Oh and "y" friend is coming to TG dinner at noon at the new house. THAT i approve of.
MOH has tomorrow after a morning client until SUnday.SO we hopefully can get a lot done. MOH needs a few days off, And I can at least keep track of MOH!!!
so THAT brings you up to date.
Can't sleep now...too excited. Tomeorrow I will be a home owner. Just in time. when I cleaned out the junque/train room, I found there is a slow leak somewhere in the plumbing that has ruined hte sub floor. It woudl cost us a bunde to fix, so getting out of this trailer just in time. Don't htink we will get much out of it, may ust turn it over to the park, who most likely will pull it as it is now a newer one.
Allthe trains are in 16 shoeboxes, three big 45 quart bins, and a couple of boxes too. The layout was taken down and is int he shed awainting to go to the new houes. I will see if I can work it in but my new plan doesn't really think I can use it.
wel, iff'en I don't see you, havea Happy TG!
later.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
Steven Otte Yes, all my cats are named for railroads. So far, I've had Pennsy, Miss Katy, Santa Fe, Frisco, and Clinchfield.
Mr. Steven Otte,
Did you happen to notice in your picture of Frisco, that on the side of his chest, behind his front leg and ahead of his right hip and leg, that you can see a picture of him or a close relative asleep.
His mouth, nose and both eyes (closed) as well as a dark stripe up from his nose between his eyes. Most interesting.
Is Clinchfield your newest pet addition?
Johnboy out.
GM, Men!
Today is Closing, YAY!
Todya's word:
Yay! I found water seeping up through the floorboards in my train room last night! The furnace is leaking water out of the humidifier! I'm so happy that I have to shout my joy!
We lost our little diabetic cat earlier his year. He had a sudden turn for the worse and had two stays in the cat hospital; he passed during his second stay. We miss our little guy, even if he did like to jump up and "help" me build kits by kicking parts away and standing in the middle of the table.
Good luck, Galaxy.
Good Morning Diners,
Flo, I'll have an extra large cup of coffee with lots of cream, please.
Nothing to report train wise. Just read in another thread about degree of curvature. The way one guy explained it, it kind of makes sense now. Or maybe it was just the pizza analogy that worked.
Just want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving, even though our brothers to the north already observed theirs.
I hope everyone is OK, safe , and warm.
Jim (with a nod to Mies Van Der Rohe)
Good morning everybody.
Steven .... Sorry to hear about Frisco. ... Was that recent / ... I thought of naming one of our cats "Chessie" because she looks somewhat like the cat in the old C&O ads, but we named something else.
We have had numerous dogs and cats that have died over many years. Always sad when it happens.
Galaxy ... Congratulations on getting you train layout space (with house). Hope all goes well now.
Some of our Thanksgiving company has already arrived. ... So I'll be busy.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Good Afternoon!
A rather drab day here - just wet & windy, the way November usually is in our neck of the woods. The sun is setting already, time to light up the fire place, if I had one ...
Zoe, make that hot chocolate in my Furka-Oberalp Bahn mug, with a generous swig out of Vinnie´s secret bottle, and a handful of oatmeal cookies, please!
Galaxy - so moving day is tomorrow! Keeping my fingers crossed that everything turns out the way you´d want it.
Steven - what a cute idea to name your kitties after your favourite railroads. Wouldn´t work here - Deutsche Bahn really does not sound nice. May Deebee, though ...
I ran my new loco a while and checked the motor bearings. They felt a little dry so I added a tiny (!) drop of oil. The loco appears to be less noisy now.
Morning Dinners
Flo, Lemonade please. (all ready had my coffee)
Work Front Down in the dumps, found out they hired a new sales person. While I do not like working 6 days a week, I surly need the money. We will see if he sticks around after he see's the For Sale Sign in front of my store.
Ulrich Good looking engine you got there, two motors? Far as the layout I main rethink the style I want. I will post the sizes of the garage and the Road Runner later, I need to check again.
Galaxy Guess you are signing the paper work soon if not now. Good luck with everything.
Soory to hear about the pets being lost here at the dinner. Never easy.

I hate Rust
My daughter and her boyfriend just got a cat. It's pretty clear why they named him "Tux."
Given his age and mine, we probably have about the same life expectancy, assuming neither of us is allowed to play in the street.
Today I've got my "interview" for Long Term Care insurance. We're taking out policies for each of us, lump sum up front. It's not cheap, but if we don't actually use it to pay for care further down the line, we get back the face value as a death benefit, and we can actually surrender the policy for 80% of what we put in at any time. I've been told there's a short Q&A whose purpose is to look for signs of Altzheimers. Should be no problem for me, but the wife gets very nervous about any kind of test (American History, Drivers' License, cholesterol, whatever) so I hope she doesn't get rattled.
MisterBeasley. . .the wife gets very nervous about any kind of test. . .
I took a urine test yesterday. I am on pins and needles to see if I passed. I am pretty sure I aced the blood test. Truth be told, I really didn't study much for either one.
Richard
Mornin' folks,
Zoe, have they fixed the coffee pot yet? Last few cups I had in here were a bit on the bitter side. Oh, Just needed a good cleaning... OK, I'll have a cup of Marrakesh Express then...
I'm back after a bit of rest from the the goings on in here. Needed some time off.
Charlie, thanks for noticing I haven't been in... You seem to be the only one. The rest are probably thankful I was gone....
Galaxy, best wishes on the closing!!!
MrBeasley, what a cute kitten! Bet he is a lot of fun....
A happy Thanksgiving to all! I'll stop in after Thanksgiving.... Maybe.

Ray Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western R.R. (S.L.O.&W.) in HO
We'll get there sooner or later!
G'd Morning Crew,
You are a fine looking bunch of fellows for a guy like me to be associated with.
It was sure nice to be able to sleep in for awhile today, it's been awhile since I have been able to do that, always something to do or to go to. So I enjoyed it today.
Think a little painting of models is instore today as tonight it will drop to -20 and I won't be able to get the garage warm enough then.
As you all get ready for Thanksgiving I want to share this Rockwell painting with you. Maybe this will bring back some memories to you whether you were a country boy or a city kid.
Cousin Reginald was both Rockwell's scapegoat and his hero in the early covers painted for The Country Gentleman.
In all Rockwell painted fifteen covers featuring Cousin Reginald and related characters. This was the sixth in the series.
Cousin Reginald was always having misfortune caused by his unfamiliarity with "country" ways. This Thanksgiving painting is no different.
We know that the turkey will eventually be caught, subdued, processed and eaten. But we do not know what toll Thanksgiving will take on poor Cousin Reginald. We do not know if he will even want to eat the turkey after this trauma.
But his country cousins are certainly having a ball watching the scene unfold.
It is snowing here very lightly this morning but, a hundred and fifty miles north of us in Saskatoon, they really got wholluped yesterday evening and all night. There was no traffic recommended in or out of there. My son left here at 6:30 last evening with a scheduled truck run to go up and back. Hopefully all went well. I haven't heard from him and I won't try until after lunch as if he did get home, he will be sleeping to do it again tonight.
Ray, I too missed you as I do all who skip out for awhile.
Galaxy, Good luck today and going forward. Sure hope everything starts to improve for you.
Hope you all, Stateside, enjoy Thansgiving, all the goodies and good company.
All for now.
Johnboy out..................till later.
JohnBoy ... I meant to answer your question earlier. .. My Union Station is in a corner of the layout room, and the tracks are stub end. ... I intend for it to look like trains run through, however. I was going to have a mirror on one wall to be more effective, but decided to do something else. ......Normally, trains back in, but arriving trains can pull in with locomotives stopping under the station. ... There is room on each track for about 2 1/2 passenger cars.
Mr. B.... That cat (Tux) reminds me of one we had several years ago. At the time it was one of two cats, and we had three dogs then too. We were living in Ann Arbor, MI then.
As I said, we have company, and I won't be here much at all.
Hi guys
i wish all you guys down south a happy thanksgiving. I sometimes wish that our thanksgiving was the same date As yours. I'm off tomorrow so will watch some football in the afternoon. I hope you guys have a great day and weekend
afternoon all, Im slowly getting over Coco's passing. Ive got two more so its not like there isnt a cat here, but they seem to miss him to. Well tomorrow is turkey day, so I guess that means not many of us will be posting on here during the day-either from eating, guests, or passing out from turkey consumption.
Well, my model railroad club starts their open house this weekend through January- and I am beyond estatic about that. Hoping for another year of around 150 visitiors, and hopefully some people taking applications for membership.
Happy early Thanksgiving to you all.

Good evening diners. Had a nice visit from our granddaughter who is home from U of Alabama. She is a sophomore and rows for Alabama. She is hopeful of getting a rowing scholarship as she has really improved since walking on last year.
Just finished my Thanksgiving baking. I have backed orange rolls from an old Better Homes cookbook for the last ten years at least. Enjoy baking but don't do it often.
Johnboy, the Norman Rockwell's are truly timeless. Along with others we have had the pleasure of visiting the Rockwell museum in Stockport, MA. Used to live about sixty miles south of there.
Galaxy, hope the move goes smoothly now it is under way.
Talked to friend in NE Saskatchewan this morning and he had been plowing snow. Winter is surely on the way.
Have a joyous Thanksgiving and save a drumstick for me.
Jim
Just dropped by to wish all Happy Thanksgiving .

Cute cat, Mr. B. My wife said he's cute, too.
Galaxy, good luck with the move, and grats on the closing. Is there a particular reason why you don't change the locks yourself? We (meaning my father in law and I) changed the locks on this house when my wife and I moved in. Most of them weren't bad, but one of the locks gave us a chance to use some of our favorite words and phrases. (Dad was a Marine, my FIL was in the Navy, and my vocabulary is pretty extensive as well, so you know how this went! ) It's faster and cheaper than hiring a locksmith to do it yourself, but it's your call.
The furnace has been repaired. Hopefully things will dry out soon so we don't get mold. No playing around till I know it's dry, so I don't end up frying myself.
Happy Thanksgiving to each and all from the Island.

Uncle Bob:
I have changed locks before {it took foreevr}, but some stick at the hosue, and I don't think they line up well. I want someone {from Bennedums In Bingo}, WHo KNOWS what they are doing to change the lokcs as IF there are any alignment issues, or anything else, THEY can fix it, I don't have to! It may cost more, but their locks are alos commercial style {we picked hte lever handles.}, so should serve us very well for years to come. ALSO: ALL THREE of the lever handles, and all three dead-bolts {six in total}will be KEYED the SAME by them, so ONLY ONE key will be needed to access the house {front door, garage back door, and hte 3 season room door}.
I am cooking: Turkey, giblet stuffing and gravy; smashed potatoes; butternut squash; broccoli; corn; homemade whole berry cran/orange sauce; Punkin pie; etc.
Its a lot of work, nad a strain on my back, but I LOVE eating it, even if we do for 4 days later! {probably won't as I am feeding 6 people a 15 pounder}. I LOVE turkey roasted! I don't care so much for the geletan-ized tukey breast at the deli. AND we prefer dark meat to the white, so once in a while I will buy the turkey thighs and drums from the store and roast them off during other parts of the year. The breast I usually do a "stir fry' wiht the de-boned turkey, leftover giblet stuffing,a nd left over gravy over noodles for a follow-up day.
I haven't worked out the details for Christmas or New YEars, but I think a nice [expensive]roast of beef will do!
SO, Lets ALL be thankful for the {even if little} peace we have now, the health we may have {even if it is faltering}, for the prosperity we experience {even when money is tight}!
