 Afternoon Dinners

 Flo, Beer please.

Ulrich, happy belated Happy B-Day from I. I was just to beat to post last night.

YGW I will try to call you Friday about the mattress for your daughter. In you can find a dealer, Kingsdown is the best!! But good one's are pricey. My king in 2008 retail was $4800.00, but it is great.

Work Got busy last night again and had a good day with a little over $3000.00. Dis not get out of the store to 8:35 PM.

Drunk Dave Front, the idots that own the comany are letting him come back! Bang Head This company is so screwed it is unreal. Sigh I feel like Captain Smith of the Titanic and Gillgan is my first mate! Whistling

Day off, it was not a great one. Spent 3 hours at the VA Hospital and that by it self wore me out. Had my eyes check and was not the news I was hoping for. Seems I have had a small blood vessel burst from the diabetes. I is not in my feild of vision and minor so at this point not a problem. But it has got me down in the dump.

 Latter, Ken

Sorry about the financial problems Galaxy, and happy delayed birthday Ulrich. And everybody that I missed.

I went to the doctor yesterday for my foot. My keel foot was damaged my muscle pain and I was prescribed pills for the next 2 weeks. I need to keep off my feet, but that's hard to do basically I do almost everything.

Mornin'.... Uh...  Well I should say happy lunch time folks!

Chloe, I just need a refill for my dark roast coffee at the moment.

My son and Granddaughter $2 were just here to pick up my trailer and my large folding tables.  They are doing a Garage/lawn/driveway (whatever you want to call it) sale tomorrow and Saturday.  I have to pack up a couple boxes of junk to take over to it.  Guess I better get moving on that pretty quick.

Have the monthly meeting of the Museum out at the museum tonight.  Train rides and a big ceremony to celebrate the official opening of the Inspection Pit in the Restoration Building.  I shall be working train crew as always...

Gotta get some stuff done before it starts to pour outside.  Currently 85°F with a "Flash Flood" watch going on all day.  May be fun out at the Museum...

Later!

oh well, it was nice while it lasted...

Galaxy:

Don't sell the trains! You will regret it.

When my kids were young I had a fairly rare MGC GT sports car. At the time we couldn't afford to do any restoration on it so, foolishly, I sold it. I got $4000. It was completely disassembled but almost totally rust free. I should have just let it sit. Today it would cost me about $75,000 to replace it with a running car in the same original condition. I will never be able to afford that unless I win the lottery. I miss it dearly, but having the trains to work on is at least some consolation.

Good luck with the house!

Late night greetings.  Happy Birthday, Uhlrich.  August birthdays obviously rock.

Spent the last two days following my friend around while he mowed weeds and wild rice in preparation for this year's harvest.  Interesting operation.  The mower clips off aquatic weeds about two feets below the water surface.  it allows the operation of an outboard motor without fouling with weeds.  Beautiful weather that past couple of days.  May rain tomorrow.

Galaxy, best of luck juggling finances to achieve your goal of buying a house.

CNCharlie

Good Evening,

Happy Birthday Ulrich! Sounds like you had a very nice day.

Galaxy, I do hope that you are able to buy that house. It looked very nice.

CN Charlie

charlie,

we Are about $1500-2000 short on what we truely need to get into that house, and a garage sale isn't quite gonna do it.

We also will be so tight there is NO ROOM for the extra health costs we are sure to have next year....if MOH needs somthing or the med copays I need.

So, we don't know if we can really afford it, or not.

IT is going to be so tough, as we don't have all we need to do it.

May have to pass and wait on it. shame, Then again, can we afford not to? The trailer will need LOTS of work...costing money, we'd get onlly a couple thousand out of it, IF that and until we sell it, we'd have to keep BOTH payments up...

Sad

Good Evening,

Happy Birthday Ulrich! Sounds like you had a very nice day.

Galaxy, I do hope that you are able to buy that house. It looked very nice.

A very pleasant, sunny day here. We didn't do a lot except buy a new TV. Our current one is a 10+ year old 27" Sony that still works fine but it can't play any 16:9 video without squishing the picture which makes the video we took on our last Africa adventure not worth watching. We bought a 43" Sony that is supposed to be delivered next week. I expect there will be quite a learning curve for the installation. At least we can hook in our current DVD player and stereo amplifier. A lot of the new TV's didn't have the necessary RCA jacks to do so. We also want to view the photos on a decent TV screen.

Nothing much new here. I haven't done a thing on the RR for several weeks. I just don't seem to have any motivation for it right now. Perhaps when the weather cools off. It is just too cold in the basement with the a/c running. We still don't have the bathroom reno finished. The latest setback was the countertop but hopefully we will get a call this week that they were able to buff out the weather damage. The slab sat outside all winter and part of it is now rough and darker.

Sure be nice to hear from a few of the MIA's.

Good Afternoon Diners,

Flo, I'll have an extra large coffee with lots of cream, please.

Ulrich:  I don't normally do this because I don't celebrate birthdays, but have a happy and healthy one.  Someone on here addressed you as Mr. Abrahamski.  I'm assuming that's a joke like saying brewskis for beer.  If not, kommen Sie aus Polen?    Doesnt matter anyway you look at it, just curious.  Anyway, all the best and many happy more.  Also, hope you can coerce....uhh, persuade Petra to make  that delicious cake(even though you probably don't need it).

CakeDinnerPirate Yo ho, me hearties, yo ho!

YGW:  I hope all goes well when you visit the Doc.  I should hope the kids learned a lesson and I hope you set them good and straight.  I also hope that little incident didn't increase your blood pressure any.

Galaxy:  Hope that number crunching proves to be fruitfull.  If selling your trains only gets $600, is thar really all that worth it?  Dunno!

Still nothing from Lion.  I'm sure he's lurking about.  Watching! Waiting! Anticipating just the right moment to pounce with a post.  Lions do that, you know.

Hello to Garry, Ray, Dennis, Rideon, johnBoy, I know I'm leaving someone out.  Hello to everyone.

i hope everyone is OK and safe

YGW: Oh trust me, we are checking with Tried and True Credit union too. We actually have 2 CU's  to choose from {one local only, one regional} And a regular ol' bank, we bank with too {closest to our house, longest  "relationship", we keep them they are a "coastal" bank}. SO dont you despair. I would prefer to deal with an entity we can go in and talk to if need be, but they may sell off the mortgage anyway. SOunds like you hand full, just wait till they are teens!

Johnboy: We're sure hoping so, on one hand, on other hand maybe not. dunno what we can get into if it gives us trouble, but we have trouble here too. SO dunno. moving expenses have to be factored in too. Forgot that, plus we need to have a few things done, and a shed put out back, a few windows to replace...to name a few, plus closing costs, and on and on...we have to clear up some finanacial things first too, that will reduce the available $$$ to do any buing with. so we WILL be house poor IF we can afford even the buying part. We will certainly be HOUSE poor if we even can qualify and pay for it. we will need to add a boiler most probably, as this one is 15 years old,and a radon mitigation system may be required.

The bath is fine but eventually we'd want to redo the kitchen. and at least a 2 car carport.

oh, well awaiting the call back,

later,

I do have an assistant but even with him there are not enough hours in the day. We are both running. I make calls on my way in. work 8 to 10 hours and then make calls on the commute home. Eqauls to 10 to 14 hour days.

Galaxy - Beware of miracle worker loan people. They would stick it to grandma if they can make 5cents off of them. Go with tried and true.

Howmus thanks for the prayers. So you getting some sqaush you say ? Dinner according to the food nazi I can eat that !

Ulrich/Flip Happy Birthday - here is a 29 Whistling birthday candle cake for you Cake

Ken - do you know anyone you can borrow tools from ? Saves a bit of money. What about renting ? I have a question for you. We need to buy a mattress for my daughter - Full - is the size. What do you recommend ? What should we expect to pay and what brand do you recommend. She has "back" issues from a fall she took two years ago.

Going to sawbones on the 24th to see what they want to do about the heart and what they found. Last night more life drama - Bang Head Yesterday I fixed my daughters broken bed ( I think they were jumping on it while sitter was was not looking) so I shook my finger at them and told them to knock off the horse play...two hours later there is this tremendous thud on the floor from above - so hard that it shook crystals off of the chandelier - then the sound of feet running down the stairs ...so and so has BROKEN HER ARMMMMM!!!!! So off to the ER XRAYS, LOTS of pain meds and reset a severly dislocated arm, sling... Tonight we are going to have another discussion about horse play and consequences AngryAngry they had been standing on the bed I just fixed, one jumped on the others back and she flipped the back jumper to the floor - unbelievable - sound like a good life lesson oppurtunity here ! No wonder my heart is out order

well, to our advantage, they reduced the asking price of the house  by $4k! The price I have in mind is still lower, but the lisiting agent says they want it sold and are willing to deal.

Keep your fingers crossed!!! And hold your breath!

SO I also have a call into a "miracle financing worker" the realtor recomended, he could be as good as either of our credit unions, awaiting his call back.

We WILL be VERY  "house poor" to start with and the extra added costs  to get into it keep adding up. naturally. Don't know if we will actually have enough after all!

we shall see what we shall see when we see it.

Mornin' fellow diners...

Zoe, I'll have a large pot of Seneca Lake Blend Organic Fair Traded Dark Roast Coffee to keep my R&GV RR Mug filled for a while.  A couple of those sour cream glazed doughnuts would be good as well.

Garry got any photos of it to share?

My, my....  Ulrich you're just a kid!  Happy #59 Sir!  Hope you have a great meal later and a wonderful visit from your son this weekend!  In a couple more months I will be a decade older than you.

It is currently overcast here in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS.  Sun peeks through from time to time.  Temp outside is now 78°F with a high around 87° later this afternoon.  I shall try to get some lawn mowed today before it gets too hot.  The new wheels for the lawn mower (they are geared and are driven by the mower) came in yesterday and got put on last night.  Should have some squash to bring in from the garden (maybe a pepper or two) today also.

Have a great day!

Did you save us any birthday cake ?

Sorry, Garry - no birthday cake this year! It was an either we go out for lunch or I´d have a birthday cake question. I opted for going out for lunch to save Petra from spending half a day in the kitchen.

Our lunch was really nice! Petra had a Beijing soup (whatever that is) for a starter and I went for a traditional spring roll. Petra´s main dish was M8, translating into beef and vegetables in a curry and coconut milk sauce. Mine was "Beef Szechuan", nearly the same, but without the curry and the coconut milk, but a little more spice to it. Both dishes were delicious and we really enjoyed the meal. The proprietors know us well. We have been among the first customers when they opened the place 18 years ago and have been regulars since. The kitchen is a mix of Vietnamese, Chinese, Indonesian and Malaysian food, all prepared with great attention to taste and detail. The place is one of the cleanest restaurants I have been to. The best of all was the bill - $ 28 for the whole lot, including two beverages. A burger meal in a restaurant with that big golden "M" would have been the same.

However, as there is a request for a slice of my birthday cake - I suspect Petra will make a cake for the weekend, when Christian is joining us. I´ll hide a few slices from him Wink

Wasn't in yesterday as we had the marriage counselor yesterday so forth, so I had no chance to stop in to chat, though i did lurk to see who's who.

I see some got older while i was away.

dunno.

Trying to work out the #s for the house, an it looks better now than it did at first, but it is still so tight, we will be house poor..

I have 14 locos {HO} That could bring $30on the bay, IF i wnat to do that,,,,that could bring $420, plus about 25 RR cars @$6. a piece would bring $150, and lets say hte structure brings about $50. Thats a mere $620. Each structure toatl structures could bring $100 too,and track maybe another $200. so a total of just $920. NOW HALVE that, $460 is probably all i'll get! BUt may have too sell to help wihtthe house.

We have a recliner {MOH's} a loves seat, and we'd take those...there is a couch at my fathers that belongs ot me, so that too. There is an electric lift reclner at the new house, if we'd get them to throw it in we'd be set for LR.

There is a twin bed a the new house, we could get thm to thow it in too, then a twin bed already in the new house, if they throw it we'd be set for guest room, and the computer room is mostly furnished too. YAY!

Ultimately, if we buy the house, we will be very house poor, but maybe tha won't last?

dunno will talk ot the fin guy today.

Good Morning!

I got more than 7 hours of sleep without any interruption! Haven´t had that for years!

It´s a wet day again. Until yesterday, we already had 120% of the precipitation of an average month of August - way too wet. No risk of forest fires this year!

Well, it´s my birthday today, but we won´t have much of a celebration of that occasion. Petra and I will go out for lunch. It´ll be our favorite Asian place this time, after the Greek restaurant we went to on our wedding anniversary proved to be a flop. Our son will join us on Sunday - I am really looking forward to seing him. Last time he was with us was Christmas last year ...

Janie, whatever the folks are ordering today - put it on my tab, please! You turn 59 only once!

Have a good one!

P.S. Ken, please check your PM`s

 Evening Dinners

Flo, Beer plaeas and get Tin Can one as well.

Fence Front Boy I will be glad when I am done worrying about this project! All I do is think about the problem. I was sure I was going to use the Oz-Post, they are holders that hold a 4 inch fence post in the ground.

1 Oz Post $108.00 8 holders

2 Sledge Hammer $25.00

3 Hammering Kit $25.00

Total $158.00 + tax less my Vet Discout so $142.20.

Kit for $108.00 all so only goes down 24 inches and some of the reviews there 6 foot tall fence wobbles some what, but still got 4.7 out of 5 stars. Then there is all of the labor beating the post in the ground? If I ever can afford to replaces all of the fence, I will need around 25 post - 8 from the first set leaves 17 post so I will spend another $216.00.

So I think a gas power auger is the way to go.

While I hate to spend $225.00 (Vet Distcount) from the start, in the long run I will feel better. Post will be 4 feet deep and below the frost line. I feel the post will be much stronger than with the Oz-Post Holders. Plus, I can sale it when or if I am ever done with it.

Tin Can Far as MPG, my wife is awfull as well. We have older Town Cars, when she drives mine she gets 16 Mpg around town. I on the other hand get 23 Mpg? Remember our cars weight 4000 pounds! When I worked for VW I got 49 Mpg with the Turbo TDI Jetta and I was not working hard to get it. If I could have any VW, 2012 CC with the Tubor V-6!

Galaxy Stay away from the cheap stuff, we weight close to the same. If you are not going to sit on it, it looks fine. I paid $1500 for a Flex Steel Living Home set 25 years ago and it still looks the same when I bought it.

 Later, Ken

Good Evening all

A Beer would definitely taste good right now, but some icy cold agua will do fine.

Well, another work week done and over with. Was a real toasty one when I left the grind at 4:30, 101 degrees in the parling lot. Then I got home to 96 in my livingroom. I'll have to wait till well after sunset to tinker with the layout.

Got some plans for my three days off. Since the sciatic nerve has finally settled down after almost 3 months of torture I can return to doing some much needed fix ups around my house and property...more specifically finish some plumbing repairs. It's been water on/water off several times a day to keep the leak from making kitchen puddles. Got get some painting going, and clear away the abudance of tumbleweeds from around the house. I wish I could pile them up and burn them, but I don't want to chance setting the northern Nevada desert ablaze.

Really itching to get to the range and make some serious noise, Friday maybe...but...I just need to talk myself into the drive and then to tote around all that heavy high powered hardware. A casino buffett in Carson City just might be the right incentive. Make noise and beat up my shoulder then go to lunch...hmm...sounds like a plan.

Well enough for today.

Take care all
