afternoon guys

off today as I took it off, usually after a weekend at the races I like to have the Monday off. Was able to swing by the hobby shop this morning and pick up a few things he had ordered for me. We got pounded here last night by rain, flooding in a few areas. have to cut the grass as it got long and thick over last week. It will have to wait until it dries out a couple days though, two weeks ago it was yellow and thin a few good rainfalls have it thick again. Not much planned today as I might relax.

I see galaxy hasn't been in, hope he's okay and checks in with us.

Hello diners,

Well my dad elected today at 4. He's somewhere in New Mexico, he planned on going to Albuquerque and straight into Texas and Oklahoma with the rain. That changed when reports of tornado warnings in the far east of the area. Instead he's going through Dallas, TX.

My new bed will arrive tomorrow, unknown time yet... They hadn't called, there still time. Nothing on train layout news for now.

Since the X Files is coming back for a short time. Mostly everything is being sold out and I didn't even finish collecting the DVD series. I stopped buying after season 5 that was almost two years ago, I wanted to start again but its hard. I'll try to finish season 6-9.

Good evening, everyone.  It was a little cooler her today after a morning shower but very humid.  My 10 year old airedale does not like the hot, humid weather.

Finished by demo job and almost have a load ready to go to the regional landfill.  Found that the drier vents into an area between a basement window and an expanded sheet metal grill.  The whole thing looks like it is about full of lint with the exception of one small area that most be directly where the vent pipe exhausts. Wednesday morning will be waiting for a clean out of this miss. Then  I can start constructing a proper footing and framing for the wall under the porch.

Finished kerfing a section of Homosote track bed for another 26 inch curve on the layout and glued it in place using a few 16 gauge nails from the finish nail gun.  Good, fast way to secure Homosote why the construction adhesive sets up.

Time to head back outside and do some rearranging in my garage before it gets too dark.

Sure do hope Galaxy is okay.  Ulrich, keep up with the PT.  I know it will be worth it when you are done.  PT got me to where I no longer have serious neck pain, so I am a true believer in PT.

Later, all

Jim

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer please

Work Front Store got a tad busy around 1:00 PM till 3:00 PM, then that was it for the day. While the store did not have a good day, I did pretty good my self and made a extra $155.00.

I just might have a led on a new Job I hope! I was trying to get a phone number for my assnt manger I use to work with at Mattress Source. So I called a old friend that works for Mattress Firm to see if he had it. Marv is not crazy about bring the Pop Starter back in the company. Well, Matt was off today but I found out Matt is now a Area Manager! Matt and I worked together and he knows I am a good salesperson. So just maybe I can get off this sinking Ship!

UP 831 I all so feel bad for Dave and his family. Untill they have a new person hired, he has not been told he is lossing his job. When I was a area supervisor I all so had to play that game. When I could, I would hire a manager in training, get them up to speed before I wacked the person I had to replace. If the shop was a real mess, I did what I had to do on the spot and ran the shop my self.

That is one of the reason I wonder what Marv said was ture. But on the other hand the person that does payroll will tell me my ranking as far as comission. She will not tell me the dollar amount, just who was a head of me $ wise.

Y6b is still running like a dream, knock on wood so all is well tonight!

 Latter, Ken

Lion, those sure look like LIRR colors, "The Route of the Dashing Commuter."  One of the silliest (and most appropriate) railroad logos ever.

Looks like it will be a cloudy day here with some thunderstorms later.  I'm playing hockey tonight.  After the Blackhawks exciting Stanley Cup victory last night, our pickup games will be all the hockey there is until September.

Mornin' everyo....  Ahhhh!!!!

Zoe, is that an African Lion sitting at the rivet counter?  Oh, Just Brother Elias in one of his outfits....  Wheew....  Well, I'll have a large bowl....  Ah, no how about a couple of the sour cream glazed donuts over there to dunk in some Marrakeesh Express Dark Roast Organic coffee this morning.  Yes, a 20 cup pot would be perfect!

Heh, heh....  Grin, grin!  Well!  It was in last night's Finger Lakes Crimes, er Times newspaper here.  My adopted home town, Geneva, NY, home of Hobart and William Smith Colleges; the Cornell University Agricultural Experiment Station; a place with very active neighborhood associations sponsored by the city; a huge Farmers Market downtown; home of the  National Trout Derby; on Seneca Lake, the largest and most beautiful of the Finger Lakes has added another honor to our resumé!  Geneva, NY has been proclaimed to be an "All American City" by the National Civic League!  One of only 10 citys in America to get the honor this year.  It was the only city in New York State to be a finalist and one of two from the entire Northeast in the 15 finalists that competed in Denver, CO last weekend.  Our motto is "Uniquely Urban".  If you have nothing else to do you can find more about it here.

Gee....  It's raining again outside the window...  How novel!  I guess the Flash Flood Watch will continue a while longer!

Tomorrow is the annual community Strawberry Festival put on by the Presbyterian Church (my church).  I will come out of retirement once again and provide sound for the entertainment.  Have to check out equipment and find a couple items to be able to do it.

Garry, I might send him a note, but i don't have his address on my computer.  maybe someone who does could get in touch.  They might have lost power in the storms, but I wouldn't think it would be this long.  I am worried about him!

Guess I better get going with the w*rk to get done today.  Catch you all later!

My first visit to the diner, hope I can join you guys. I just retired at 68 and building another HO layout.

Using Mianne bench work, the stuff is great and you can configure it anyway you want and it is very easy to take up and down if need be.

Evening, olks!

Just a short visit, as I cannot type properly. I tripped and fell during my walking exercise in today´s PT and hurt my wrist badly. It´s now in a cast for a few days. Typing with my left hand does not work well, either.

I see a new face here - Welcome aboard, Dave!

Back to the corner booth for a mug of sweet & hot chocolate, and a handful  of chocolate chippers to raise my level of serotonin.

CU all tomorrow!

Afternoon guys

got home from work at 1 today and cut the grass. I didn't get at it on Saturday as I was at the race all weekend. With all the rain and sun we have had this past week it was quite thick, I still have to clean the garden and trim the back bushes but at the moment the garden is still very muddy and might take a few days to dry out. Just sitting here making a model railroad " to do " list for the summer. I use to just work on the railroad in the winter but have found the past couple summers doing more in the hot weather then in the winter. in the winter I'm more prone to play table top sports games and video games.

have a few things I want to get done this summer when its too warm to work outside. Sometimes I think I have too many hobbies, lol

Hey diners,

My have a headache real bad.

First news is that my bed come in/around 10:30 a.m. But they couldn't take the old one since it worn and broken. I called the trash company to see if they want to pick it up and she said $55. I decided to dismantle the boxspring and put it in the trash can without paying a fee.

Second news. The last time I spoke to my dad was in Little Rock, AR going to Memphis, TN.

Its hard to think and write with a headache right now, see you later.

You guys ever have one of those times when tech devices become a pain in the butt. The wife's laptop is not working right, she can't log onto her account as a admin but can with another user account. I guess we will have to reinstall Windows on the weekend.

i tried to update my iPhone wireless but for some reason it's not working right. I will have to install iTunes and update that way.

ugggh, one of those nights

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Please

What a Yuck Day!  It has been raining on and off for 4 days now. The Weather Guesser say we will get 7" of rain in the next 2 days!

Infected Foot / VA Front. Still trying to fight the red tape to get seen sooner than they are planing. Seems many Dr's have to look at what they know little about, then refer me to a Dr that knows what he is looking at, but is to busy to see me, so he can refer me to a outside Dr that has time to see me! By that time Just Call Me Stumpy!

Bright Spot Of Today? There is a chances I may make a train friend. Had a young man (15 or so) cut my grass last week because of all extra days I was working. Some how my wife got talking with him and he goes to K-10 Model Trains to races his R/C car. He likes K-10 trains layout and HO scale trains. So just maybe? Might be able to do some trading of labor for train stuff.

 Later, Ken

Good Morning Diners,

Im baaaack!

Flo, I'll have a very large cup of coffee with enormous amounts of cream, please.

Today is the last day of the trade show, but I need to get back to work.  I pretty much covered the bulk of it Monday and Tuesday.  My Fitbit(r) has told me that I walked over 12000 steps each day, climbed 15 flights of stairs, and walked over 5 miles/day.  I can tell I'm getting older because I could sure feel it the next day.  I'm feeling it today, but not as bad.  Had a great time, saw lots of new products, caught up with old friends, met some new ones, etc.  This event is always one of the highlights of my year.  Thanks for letting me share.

Ill have to catch up with everybody's posts.

i hope everyone is OK and safe.

OK, so everyone always laughs at our Tuesday Night Hockey scores.  Yeah, it was 20-17.  No doubt, the goalies are to blame, right?  So I'm 68 years old and playing against guys half my age.  But, last night we did something a bit different.  The other goalie was a 19-year-old kid, and not just any pick-up player.  He was actually a pro, with a contract with a minor-league team in Minnesota.  At the end of "regulation time," which is the end of the time we've actually paid for, we were tied up at 13 all, and we pulled ahead for a while.  Then, guys started to leave and everyone got tired, and the other team got the better of us, particularly the former minor-league pro they had on their team.

So, it's not the goalies.  It's the defense.

Looks like we've got a sunny, pleasant day today.  I'm going to get a haircut and go for another bike ride.  Life is good.

Mornin' folks!

Zoe, I'll have a short stacik of blueberry pancakes this morning with Real NYS Maple Syrup to go along wit a pot of Marrakesh Express Dark Roast coffee please.

Today may be the best day of the year so far.  The Presbyterian Church holds it's annual Strawberry Festival tonight, and the forecast is for 0% chance of Ra*n and a high temperature of 78°F with a 5mph breeze.  I love days like this when I do live sound outside...  I will start to get the sound equipment packed in the PiP very soon.  Hope I can find everything I should be taking with me.....  The old Yamaha Monitor speakers I will be using for the front end (Small Venue) haven't been used since last year nor has the old amp I will be using....  They should be fine, I hope!

Mr. Beasley, 20-17 isn't too bad...  You've posted worse losses in here.  I think that league sounds like fun and I'm glad you can still get out there and have some fun!  You know I went to a fight once and a hockey game broke out.... WhistlingLaugh

I best get packing....  Catch you all later!

Gooooood Morning!!!

Say ummmm...Indifferent was that a Lion that just “walked” outta here?

Coffee and the Sunday Breakfa…what? Tuesday! Wow….just WowSigh. Guess I missed my Sunday visit. What with no RR stuff going on and preeeeetty much the same stuff different day going on in real life, I’ve nothing to really post. Like watching the same episode of Gilligans’ Island over and over every day for you guys. Interesting, maybe, for a time or two but…well you know. Even I would get tired of Mary AnnWhistling. So I try to be sure and stop in at least on Sundays to say howdy and not let the diner get forgotten.

Gotta fire the ovens up at ten today for to make-a-the pizza pie for the mine, so there goes my full day off until next Sunday.... I think. We’re kinda wet round here so I need to sink a couple posts for the back porch addition, or rather nook to set the gas grill in, before the ground dries and gets hard. SurpriseOH!!! Guess what the wife got me for Fathers Day??!! Ok, ok, you don’t have to guess…I’ll tell you. Now get ready this is pretty exciting…ready?.....Patio stonesWink. Yep, patio stones. Now I have to buy the locking sand and the base sand and of course dig out the ground to set them in and do all the labor for a ground level extension to set the Charcoal grill on, but hey. Love that gal Left Hug. Luckily it’s only a 6’X6’ area. Confused So far.

Best get uptown.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a cup of decaf please.....

Strawberry festival went well, sound system worked as I thought it would, and lots of people in attendance.  Fun!  The revote on the School Budget (it lacked the super majority needed by NYS Law last time) passed yesterday by a wide majority (the largest number of voters ever as well), and the city of Geneva has another honor in it's list of acheivements.  "Want to play? If so, Geneva is the perfect place to be, as the City accepted the honor of being recognized with a 2015 Playful City USA designation for the 4th time."

Ken, I hope the doctors appointment goes well and they can get your foot healing soon!  Keeping you in my prayers....

 Garry, received and answered.

Time to head for bed!  I have a full day of playing with trains planned for tomorrow.  Late morning I head to Rochester for an Operations Event at one of my NMRA members Home, and later I will get my supper, stop at RIT and "steal" some electricity for my car (they offer it to any plug in for free) and then head to the R&GV RR Museum for the monthly meeting which this time of year is just an excuse to ride on trains for the evening....  I will be working crew as usual.

I did some figuring and since the PiP says I have 95 miles worth of gasoline left and tomorrows driving will be over 130 miles....  Let's see  I'm currently getting a little over 11 miles on a charge...  Hmmmm...  two full charges would give me around 23 miles of electric range....  So since the car is off on the estimate and I should get around 30 more miles on this tanke than it says....  Best be safe, so I just filled the Dinasuar dung tank with the proper crap to be sure I can get home without running out or having to fill up alomg the way. I stopped and filled the tank here in town where I could get $1.90 off a gallon....  Yep drove over 640miles on this tank, it took 6.9 gallons of gas to fill it and got over 92mpg this time...  Love Summertime and driving on Sunshine! Smile, Wink & Grin

Have a great night!

Evening all. Just stopping in for a RBF, then I'm 9ff to the shower and bed. My wife is doing better, turns out she had an 8mm kidney stone that was the cause of her not feeling well back on monday. Spent the day today in the hospital with her so the docs could ultrasonic destroy the stone. Not much else happening, I have to return to work tomorrow, so I might not get to get back here into the diner u til tomorrow eve or later. Night yall!

Good Morning Diners,

Flo, I'll have my usual barrel sized cup of coffee with extra generous amounts of cream, please.

Has anyone heard anything from Galaxy?  It is becoming apparent that he's not ok. I'm not sure what a sudden drop in blood pressure is symptomatic of (mentioned in his last post), but it can't be good.

Ulrich: you hang in there with your PT.  we're rooting for you.

Nothing to report train wise today.  Maybe I'll get lucky and see a CN train on the old EJ&E tracks today.

Afternoon just dropped in for a cold Beer

Well the house move went great but now we are working or way through the many boxes sorting everything out. Still a fair number to go but we are almost there. Can't say the same about "the railroad empire" the hut contains all the epmty boxes and other trash. But we are getting there.

Ulrich keep up the good work at your PT we are all rooting for you!

Galaxy I hope that everything is OK!

Bear I will have to get permission from Cousin Vinnie as I am hoping to leave a few top quality Malt Whiskys behind the bar so that visitors can sample "the good stuff". But will definately give a whisky of the week.

regards to everyone else and thoughts and prayers to those in need.

Boy, this place looks deserted!

Where art thou, friends? Vinnie and the girls are yawning, twiddlin´ their thumbs.

Good Evening, Gang!

PT didn´t go to well today, as my wrist is still hurting. I need that hand to support me when doing the exercises, so there was little I could do today. Even so, I am beat!

Not much to report otherwise - my days are pretty boring these days. I am just glad I still have days ...

I am really worried about Galaxy. He´s been missing for over two weeks now. I hope he is just taking a break from the Diner and is doing OK.

No plans for the rest of the evening. Well, what should I be doing, when moving around is a bit of an ordeal? I think I´ll be watching an old movie on the tube. Have not looked at the idiot box for ages.

Ken - hope your foot will get OK soon!

CU all tomorrow!
