Work Front By today standerds we had a good day. I had 7 customers and 5 bought, Dave the X Manager had 4 customers and 2 bought. I allso think it has finaly sunk in that he is not the manager now, but I will never push the subject.
Train Front Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy, the A line seems to be working fine again! Been running the Erie Bulits and RSD 15 now for a hour and nothing has went wrong, knock on wood!
Car Front I have been driving Sue's Town Car because it keeps stalling on her. While it will stall on me some times, not like it does for her. It will be a free fix from my shop so it was no big deal.
Real problem is today while I was driving it, the breaks started grinding. Problem with Town Cars they are so quite you don't hear the problem unless you have the window down. Just hope being metal to meatl has not ate the rotors yet!

I went to my aunt's house to help out with the yard sale. During that time I also went to the bookstore and got a Trains Magazine Feb 2015 for $3.00. I also played my cousin's dog Basil and my other aunt's dog Milo.
Train News: I saw 2 Union Pacific trains. One was an double stack and the other was a ballast hopper with an SD70ACe and ES44AC. The ballast hoppers I saw had UP and SI reporting marks.

Need to go uncover all the young fruit and nut trees shortly. Had to cover them back up with the temp dropping to 26F last night. Likely lost most of my peaches for this season, as those trees were full of blooms and there was nothing I could practically do to protect them.

I am still on my tear...there are about 9 bags {tall kitchen force flex} going to the Sally house. I am trying to take it easy on the right shoulder/arm. Don't knwo as I'm succeeding.
doing laundry/bedding...always fun to do. several loads as we each like our own blankies and sheets, and the only common sheet is the bottom one. NAd we each have 3 pillows to lay on, and one for betwixt the knees"good posture for sleeping}
So the Surgeon MAY say "you are doing too much".
Then I just got done with lunch: Greasy Country fried steak with lots of sausage gravy. I whisked that {that actually took a deeper toll on the ol' arm than all the laundry.} and mashed potatoes {also not good for your weight} with MORE sausage gravy! Heart attack on a plate! So the cardiologist may not be too happy with me either.
And with extra gravy i may just make another one for "lunch" afternoon style. This was more "brunch". Now.
oops. the dryer is calling my name and the washer just shut off in unison! check in later, maybe, MOH due home from work soon, so nap on the clean bed will be in order!
Need to shower, I've been sweating all morning too.I don't 'perspire", I SWEAT. Tons of it. I pour out of every pore!

Good morning to all! It's sunny, but still in the low 30s with enough breeze to bring the wind chill down to 25. Brrrrr.
Richard, I hope you were wearing a helmet. Make sure you check it to see if it needs replacement after that crash. I've gone down a few times (2 dogs, 1 peloton crash) and I was grateful for the helmet each time.
I got back to the crossing gates again. I made all the physical connections for the linkage to drive the remaining gate, tried it out and it worked fine. Then I powered up to run a train through it for a test, and ... nothing. I have a dead short indication in my reverse loop, and I can't find it. Also, the 8-volt wall wart that I drive my Tortoises with seems dead. I'm afraid some wires got shorted while I was working on the gates, which of course are directly behind a control panel with a gazillion wires. I hope I haven't fried my old PS-REV autoreverser. I temporarily replaced the old wall wart with a 9-volt battery and all the Tortoises seem OK.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

I am running on a level of frustration, albeit not a high one. First of all, the weather is rather gloomy today - we had to keep the lights on all day. Second, I don´t lake the time change - it makes me suffer from jet lag without having been in the air. Third, I have been trying out some ideas for an el-cheapo layout, but had to dismiss them. Whenever I added that last bit of detail to make the layout interesting, it turned out not to be el-cheapo anymore. Well, I can´t change the weather and the "jet lag" will eventually fade away, but I will stop making a head over layout ideas for a while - it just gives me a headache.
Richard - I hope you are still all in one piece. I gave up motor biking 41 years ago, when had a rather painful accident with my ex-Army WW II Harley I had restored. Nothing broken, just some nasty cuts & bruises, plus a few bad burns. I have never touched a bike since.
Galaxy - as it seems, we will have to hogtie you to a chair for you to get the rest you need. Remember, Rome wasn´t built in a day (but Nero burned it down in one )!
I´ll be watching a few train videos, now that I can see properly again!

And, yes, you might have to hog-tie me down, as that is one way my mania manifests itself. Especially once the weather is A LITTLE warmer {and I mean a LITTLE}, and the spring is in the air {acutally it's one of those smelly things you plug into the wall}, and it's tiem to "lighten the houshold load" I can be found on a tear to accomplish SOMETHING...hopefully several tears as I need to get to the train room innereds! And to the closet there to clean out stuff I know should go to the garbage. or at least that I haven't seen/touched in 10 years or so, and could get recycled or thrown out...one is a box of books..I don't even know what books are in there, ansd the certainly weren't good enough to make it to the lawyer's style book case,so out they cna go, for instance.
Now my shoulder has said "enough". One small load of laundry left then i wash the washing machine with the Tide stuff...for doing so...will stink up the house, but make the house smell like roses!
A few dishes and dinner...salmon...and a restful {hopefully} night.

Im very saddened by this (still sad from Jeff's passing too) so I will just say hi to yall, hope your ok, and sit somberly. Thinking of all the good folks Ive lost over the years.

My self, I have been down and sure glad I had a leather riding jacket with pads and a full faces Bell Star Helmet on! Only thing I hurt was my big toe when I kicked the young lady car door that pulled out in front of me!
Barry and Gary, there are a few reasons Dave still has a job.
1 Been with the owners on and off for 15 years or so.
2 Nancy likes him, that has saved his caboose for years.
3 His sales are not as bad as a few other peoples.
4 Marv is cheap, does not want is unemployment insuraces to go up! I personally think that is what saved him this time around!
Work Front Went in earily today to do the store inventory, order is coming in Monday and not Tuesday as normal thanks to Dave in around about way. I was counting stock in the loading dock aera 1/2 hour before opening time when I heard the door chime go off. Stuck my head out and explained I was not open but would be with them in a few minutes. Finshed my loading dock count and helped them. They bought when I was done. If I did my math right I made a extra $60 or so.
Rob I hope to get Sues car fixed for under $100.00 if all I need is front pads, but you never know. Guess I will find out Tuesday. We bought the car used and have but on 40,000 miles on it with no brake work.

Here is a little more information on my unexpected encounter with a Suburban. First, Ulrich and Ken, I should have been a little more clear. This was a bicycle, not a motorcycle. MOH will not allow a motorcycle. After this weekend, she may not allow a bicyle any more.
In brief, I was paying more attention to my speedometer/odometer than the road, rounded the corner, and rode right into the back of a Suburban at about 17 mph. I didn't even see the car; I only heard my helmet hit the back window. (I always wear a helmet.) What followed next is not entirely clear but the end result was a split-open, upper lip with a chunk missing at the bottom; a hematoma in my voice box; and a 2" gash in my leg. My lapse in judgement earned me a trip to the ER, the trauma center, some plastic surgery, three staples in my knee, a night in the ICU, and a night (tonight) in a regular hotel room. If all goes to plan, I go home tomorrow.

We're finally winding down our spring cleaning. Just the final touches left to do. We'll be done in time for the weekend.
Watched part of the I-heart radio awards show last night. I must confess that I am so very very very glad that I'm no longer involved in that industry and haven't been for many years. I'm sure others will disagree, but I really don't think that popular music is even remotely as good as it was. But then, that's just my opinion.

Yes, more snow is falling. The 1-3 inches that they were calling for on Saturday seems to have fallen and melted, as there's no new accumulation.
My reverse loop problem was hard to find but easy to fix. First, I disconnected the autoreverser, which told me the tracks, or something connected to them, were the problem. Since I'd also lost the wall-wart for my Tortoise power, I started checking the frog-power wires to the Tortoises. I have circuit board connectors that slip on to the Tortoises, so it's simple to pull them off. When I removed the second one, things started working again. Those connectors aren't specifically made for Tortoises, so there's some horizontal motion. I must have bumped one of them out of position while I was installing the crossing gate linkage. As for the wall-wart, well, today is trash day and I found another one in the basement. All's well that ends well.
Not only that, but I found that by getting that connector properly seated, it cured yet another problem. The other SPDT contacts on that Tortoise supported a multi-light signal bridge, and that had been showing yellow and green when it should only have gone yellow. I thought I had crossed wires on the bridge, but now it's working perfectly again!
OK, either today is laundry day or tomorrow is re-used underwear day.

I have been sitting here for the last 2 hours working on stuff for Mortimer Junction. The NFR, NMRA Convention. Yesterday had some really good promotion at our table in Batavia. Hopefully we will get a good amout of registrations sent in for the convention. I have also been sending convention information around to Neighboring Divisions to diseminate to their members.

It´s been a rather dull and boring day - lots of ra*n and storm, very unpleasant. Thank goodness we had enough leftovers from the weekend, so the usual Monday morning grocery run could be put off until tomorrow. There is a slim cahnce of a slight improvement on that very last day of March.
I have been doing some reading and web searches in order to develop ideas for a diorama/layout, but with no real result. This is getting frustrating. Maybe I should just get some plywood and start on a building - just to keep my hands (and mind) busy.

Ken ... Your locomotives probably do not have real Kadee couplers, and they should be rpelaced with real Kadees. The factories in China which make Proto models don't instal Kadee brand couplers.
I did complete upgrades of my old AHM ore cars, and they should work well with my other ore cars made by Walthers and by Roundhouse.
Still busy with honey-do Spring cleaning and still doing taxes for people.

Gary While China may not install Kadess, we do here in ILL. As soon as I learned about Kadee Couplers, that is all I use. Well after I got out of my Horn Hook ways.
Trains are running very well tonight, cross fingers. After I found a odd girme build up on the diamond (had to scrape it off with a screwdriver) it is running much better.

In General - Man what a day! Ken you think your tired... I made two trips today. Moved my storage shelving units. AND all the boxes contained there in. This puppy was in my basement (taking up valuable layout space!) which meant i must've made 50 trips atleast up and down the stairs.
I feel like i am 110 years old, and look twice that! 'Supposed' to do more tomarrow. Anyone taking bets my back wont show up for work?

Did manage to catch some action at the crossing today. Hit the gates just right.... first in line to see all the action. In the distance to the left was a CSX weed sprayer heading south. Slowly.
To the right, the local was heading north with two geeps and three cars. A good 5 minute railfan break outta the blue. Gotta love those! The only bad thing about it???? I didnt have my camera.
