Flo, will you roll out the Keg Of the Buick Guy bought me? Yes I like a starw and a JSTL please. Give the Buick Guy a starw as well.
Hard to believe but I had to turn on the A/C at work today, it was 75 degrees? Way warmer than what we should have.
Gary No shopping, sounds like my kind of area! Drives me nuts, when I take my wife on a vacation frist place she wants to go is a Mall with a Sears or J C Penny in it! So why did I spend $$$$ on plane tickets to get here so she can go to stores we have at home?

Morning Railfans! Flo - my usual please. And a #2 breakfast special. Might aswell eat while i am here.
In General - Yesterday seems like a blur already. I dont think it was one of my better feeling days. Again, up at 5:30am for some reason. I know thats got something to do with it!
Must be punishment of some kind because yesterday was a typical day at the beach. Its the middle of winter and its sunny, 65 degrees atleast! Went out for lunch yesterday and everyone (even myself) was in short sleeves not a coat to be seen!
How can there be record amounts of snow 100 miles away and NONE here? Its depressing i tell you. Even plants like a little shade now and then (cloudy day).
I see i be the first in 9 hours to post. Quiet night aye? I bet who ever was on the night shift is P/O'd now because no tips. Prolly had to clean stuff all night long too.
Got some company coming in this weekend so i spose i better start getting this place in shape. Good day to everyone. Prolly stop by a little later on.
Ken - Gorgeous looking car!!!!

MisterBeasely, that sounds like an excellent trian room size.
Well, my train room andother projects are now on hold. The climbing over the gate (as I have done a gazillion times before) was no problem, it was the landing. My right ankle (that's my good one) decided to to turn horizontal. I went down like a rotten old tree in a micro burst. Heard and felt an unpleasant sound. Finish rounds hopping and driving the Ranger with left foot. The swelling went up the leg a ways and I was concerned there could be a break, so opted to go to the ER. Thank goodness only torn up ligaments and connective tissues with no breaks. However, I can't put weight on it. I know, "No more climbing over gates!" ($1,205. out of pocket for just the visit. Wonder how much the x-rays and Doc will cost!)
Hope everyone is doing well.
Cheers! Rob
Wow! It's snowing! School is closed! Yeah, again. I'm waiting for the handrail on the steps outside to completely disappear. I've got to go out and get the trash can before it's lost until April.
howmusIt is being made from the leftovers of the Walther's Modular buildings they put out years ago. Of course I don't seem to have a couple parts I need, but I can build them I think.
Ray, I do believe you could build anything you wanted. But, if you're talking about the Cornerstone modulars, I've built a few and I have leftover parts. PM me what you're looking for and I'll check the parts box.
I loosely assembled the Revell station last night and put a couple of lights inside with battery power. There are a couple of glow-through spots I'll have to take care of, but overall it's pretty good. The interior is visible through the windows, although not overly so. I think a few figures and a bench or two will suffice to give the illusion of something going on in there.

Been awAy for while. Computer screen was broken by a hard hat with wings flying across the trialer after a certain Fire Marshall stopped by picking a fight. That guy thinks he is God and I can tell you he is not and he should be thankful I am a Christian because if I wasnt he would be giving a report before the pearly gates about his no account hide and being told that he would be in need of serious fire fighting equipment shortly for the hot spot he would be heading to !
Well thanks I feel better now. How is eveything ? Missed posting and hope all is well with everyone.

The Boston Globe has this picture:
Much of Boston's train system is above ground, so it's subject to the same problems we have trying to drive. I do think it's ironic that our previous Governor would get on TV and tell people to forget about driving and take public transportation, right before some spokesman from "The T" gets on to announce that they will be shutting the system down in a couple of hours.
I've had a couple of people tell me already that I timed my recent retirement perfectly. No worries about getting out of the driveway, getting to work or getting home again. Nope, the only decision I have when I get up is "Columbian Supremo, or Hazelnut?"

Understand when I use the 5 letter word STUFF! I am really refering to a 4 letter word that also starts with "S"....
Speaking of STUFF, I have finally found the PiP (my car) and more or less (mostly) cleared out the driveway of the white STUFF that fell last night. I measured 8" of that STUFF. Measured in several places and they all said the same thing. Since then the STUFF started falling again and has dumped about 3 more inches on everything. Only good thing is the wind is not blowing so it is just come more or less straight down. I have a dentist appt. tomorrow early afternoon so I want to stay ahead of it if I can. Expect the city will be by to fill in the end of the driveway with a couple more feet of STUFF soon....
In the mean time I am going to head to the train rooms to see what I might get done.
Later!

Good afternoon, gents:
No snow here in St. Louis, but after a weekend of upper 60s and 70 degrees, this morning's 38 degrees was a bit of a shock. The furnace is trying hard to catch up. Meanwhile, getting stuff put together for next's month's swap meet, learning new music for next Sunday and sending out a resume for a job. Stay warm.

Hello!........... Hello?....... Oh Hi Janie, Glad to see at least the wait staff is still here. Where is everyone? Well I could sure use a cup of hot decaf to warm me up a bit...
I brought some photos to share... We got another pretty good sn*w fall over the last 24 hours (12") and with the accumulation from the last couple weeks that hasn't melted yet, this is the most sn*w we have had on the ground at one time in several years. I can remember back in the 1990's much worse than this in a single blizzard that roared through, but I though it would be worth showing some of what we have been shoveling around here (and believe me we can shovel STUFF....).
The view late afternoon from my front door:
Still have to finish digging out the mail box, although the mailman was able to get to the box by leaning half way out the window of the truck...
Pip got dug out, more or less.... It was found under the big pile of white STUFF.
Under all the white stuff are 18 solar panels that have so far made .5 kWh in the first week and a half of February. In summer they will make 3 times that much in 45 minutes... The deck at the corner is 30" off the ground... So the sn*w is about 30" deep right there.
This is what you call an icicle! It goes from the roof all the way to the ground... I think the wood stove chimney (Metal type) and a few other pipes may put enough heat into the attic that the steel roof lets the sn*w melt in places. Can't figure out why I get this much ice in a place where it comes off a porch? The bedroom behind it isn't heated either...
Gee, don't you Southern guys wish you lived where you could enjoy all this Winter time fun. Anyone want to go tent camping?

I thought the PIP was blue. Baby light blue to be exact. It looks black in the pictograph you enclosed! I think I said that before, I say that because when you first bought it I thought you said it was baby light blue. I had a black vehicle once, never again! TOo hot!
Mr. B: We have enough sn*w here, not as much as your 70+ inches, but we have had our fair share... I love tehse people on here who say "We have none"..we'd gladly share if we could, wouldn't we??

Ah, yes, the media are playing up the snow in Boston like it's a major disaster. OK, it's a major inconvenience for some, but I've yet to hear of any serious storm-related casualties. The city itself is more of a problem because even in good weather there isn't enough room to park all the cars, and with all this snow some streets take days to get plowed out. Out here in the burbs, they keep the roads open. People know enough to stock up at the supermarket for Snowmageddon, and we just have the good sense to stay home when it gets like this.
I've got a doctor's appointment, so I will venture out, but by now it should be no problem. The snow stopped yesterday evening. Gotta go out and buy some Valentines, anyway.
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have a short stack of buckwheat pancakes with real NYS Maple Syrup, a couple sausage links, and a large pot of dark roast coffee for my R&GV RR mug.
Need to get myself showered and dressed and get out to the driveway and see if I can finish digging out the car as I have an early afternoon dentist appt. Just for celeaning bnut I still need to get there. The end of the drivway got filled in again late last night by the city sn*wplow making its rounds.
Galaxy, the PiP is and has always been "Winter Gray Metalic" color. I generally get whatever color the dealer has on the lot and that is what tyhey had.... It looks darker in the photo because of all the snow (changes the exposure a bit). At least it shows up against the sn*w this time of year. The Yaris was bright red, and the last Dakota was a dark metalic graphite color. Only Blue color vehicle I have ever owned was a dark blue, not a "Baby" blue.... Don't know where you got that idea...
Good to see the diner busier this morning.....
Catch you all later!
Good Morning,
It has been a while since I last dropped in so I thought I would just confirm that I am still kicking. I do stop in most days but haven't had much to say so I don't post.
We certainly haven't had the snow some of you are getting nor has it been especially cold this winter. We are to get 2-5 inches today but who knows. There is only about a foot of compacted snow on the ground here unlike last winter.
Just waiting for the delivery of a new mattress for the wife's adjustable bed. We got a foam one this time as the latex one we bought 6 years ago is shot. Hope this one does better as they certainly are expensive.
I haven't done anything on the RR for several weeks, not even running trains. I just don't seem to have much motivation to get going on anything.
Well, hope everyone has a nice day,

Strong coffee in a AT&SF mug, please.
***Ray, do you provide "tube tents" for that snow camping excursion?
Still on crutches here and only doing what absolutely MUST be done. 3 of the first trees I ordered a while back are being delivered today. Was able to line up a worker for tomorrow morning to help me plant them. I'll just hold the trees in place while he does all the shoveling.
So much for getting projects done.
Healing thoughts to those in need.
Galaxy - Yes it is. My first wife ran around on me. I hired a private detective and found out the truth and who the bum was she was seeing. She supposedly had to go to work at an odd hour one day. I went to the bums house and there was her vehicle. I knocked on the door and told her to not bother coming home. Then on the way home changed the locks and with a new key.
Well we didnt have any snow but we did have freezing rain. Some of the highways were closed due to the traffic accidents.
FireMarshall continuing saga. That guy showed up again today ! Walking around trying to find something wrong. He is wasting a LOT of my time. Yep I think his spot in the hot place is getting hotter ! .
I hate it when the Fire Marshall and the building deptmartment are combined under one roof. The power goes to those guys head and they cannot handle it.
To ll those snowed in. I wish I were you so I could shut this place down and dod some modeling. I hope you take advntage of your good fortune, Enjoy !

Good morning Diners,
Flo, I'll have my usual gigante coffee with boo coo cream, please.
Not too much going on here this week, just cleaning up around the house. Have to put some drain cleaner down the drain. I want to try the lazy way (not to mention less messy) first before acquiescing to removing the trap. Starting a new job Monday. Have an interview tomorrow, too. I must admit that I'm so very blessed in that I still have good health, and Im privelidged in that I get to do what I love for a living, such as it is.
I really feel for those who have health issues.
We have had some snow here, but not anything like the NE has gotten. Reminds me of last year here. It's supposed to get cold this weekend.
Galaxy: I think most of us understand that in a situation like yours, you need to talk about it and vent. So, don't feel like you're boring us or anything like that. It's just that helpless feeling like standing there and watching your house with all of your belongings go up in flames or a tornado.
Nice cars guys! A lot of work and TLC went into those.
Sylmar: Real estate in So Cal has been absurdly ridiculus for a long time. Before the bubble burst, houses were around $400/sq ft, and that was in Solvang. I just cringe when I hear real estate people enthusiastically talk about a turnaround and that prices are going up. I just think, didn't you guys learn anything from the last time? IMO the problem is in thinking of a domicile as a marketable commodity. That leads to greed and buying on speculation that one would be able to flip and make a large profit. With that thought process in play, what happened to the housing market was inevitable, and it was on the part of every single entity involved.
Ok, no more soap box,...promise.
I'll try to say something more RR focused next post, cause I don't want Vinnie to come calling.
I hope everyone is OK, safe, and warm.

Oh howmus, I know you were talking about snow. I thought it would be funny to joke around with it.
Nothing going on today except another 80*f weather for the third day in a row and with a somewhat 20% of rain over the weekend, if the clouds change.
Everywhere else it's still winter, but in Tucson it's summer time. Well still warm.

Problem with THAT idea, YGW, the house [mobile home} is really MOH's, paid for by my FIL long before I came along! IF we seperate, I have to be the one hwo moves out.
In OUR fight the recent Sunday, I said in the middle of it, "maybe i'm nto getting it, maybe you are trying purposely to drive me away, maybe you want me to leave. And got no answer to that. Or much of my questions. MOH sure can talk when wanting to, but sure can clam up also. I am not going to bore you with my details, it is my problem....
Afternoon folks!
Chloe a cuop of hot chocolate would hit the spot right now...
angelob6660Oh howmus, I know you were talking about snow.
Wrong 4 letter word....
I spent about 2 hours chopping up and disposing of a couple huge piles of ice today... The first was the two foot high 4 foot deep,. and twelve foot wide (across the driveway) pile the city sn*w plow pushed there last night around 10PM. The second was trying to clear out the mail box so the mailman could deliver the mail... Glad I did as my new credit card was in today's mail. Old one got compromised by a company I have never heard of and have never done business with. I should get the fraud paperwork in the next couple days so the card company can go after them! BTW, why is it called Mail? You have to pay a fee to send it, so shouldn't it be called FeeMail? What about the days the person who delivers the mail is a lady? Is she therefore a FeeMailMan? I dunno...
Tomorrow I will be doing my best to get as much STUFF off the roof of the house as possible. I also have to clear a 30' path from the back porch to the other driveway and clear a place to put out the trash on Friday. Figure it will take at least 2 days to get it done.
Got my teeth cleaned today, then stopped at the post office and bought a roll of those little sticky thingies to put on letters, then went over to the Finger Lakes Crimes newspaper place and picked up all the first place Stuff from the MLK Art and Poetry Contest. Hopefully tomorrow I shall make the rounds and get everything out of my house and back to the school buildings from whence they came.
galaxyProblem with THAT idea, YGW, the house [mobile home} is really MOH's, paid for by my FIL long before I came along!
That makes it simple. Pack up your stuff and leave. Cancel all joint accounts, take what is yours and begone with you. Think about where you can go and what you will do now. What funds do you have access to. What resources do you have. Get these things well nailed down before you rock the boat any further.
