Garry I agree with you about Keiths scratch build. That is an amazing job! What does a Chicago accent sound like ?

Keith - LOL ! Dentist foot on your chest !? How bad after words did it hurt ?

Blownout cylinder - Thats good stuff kittens in the bed

Galaxy - yep spent some time in the out house in my younger days. My father bought a place in the country that didnt have a septic field, electric, running water ...It DID HAVE an out house , a hand well pump and he gutted the old "I house" installed plumbing, electric, insulation etc..he bought the place for 32k. many years sold it for 500k. He did good.

Welp - have a question. Have a cub cadet and the drive system stopped today. Looked under the mower and there lay a plastic fan blade that looked like it got locked in place while the shaft kept spinning. Long and short is it will not move. Any suggestions on the problem ?

Frank with the stripes...Nice Ford...congrats on restoring her!

My mother used to talk of a "little 2 door Ford" she had that she'd put in the ditch in the snow on the way to school...until rival boys form another school would dig her out....I don't know "what size" yours is, but it looks about like i imagined mother's "little Ford" to be...

~LOVE the color!

Well

~great to see some people in!

~Barry...sooner than later it will be about as cold here as there! so don't worrry, even Jeffrey down in weezy-anna will feeel it, though not as bad as you and we here in New Yawk will be lighting fires as well! BTDT wiht sciatica more than I'd like..sympathize with you..

~MOH has thrown two other things at me for Xmas shopping, and used my account to do it,so I will get the notifications on its progress, I have agreed NOT to peek, {easy enough}, so I don't know what i am getting, though it WILL be from the big & tall store. I DID make STRONG Suggestions, btu MOH "knows fashion" more than i?  I have to talk to the Dr about this weight I gained...a whole 'nother size I am NOT happy with. eating virtually 1 can of tuna per day with a 3 oz salad and no dressing WON'T help in my situation, medication and STomach/espohgeal surgery fixed that for me...even MOH will actually DEFEND my weight gains as has watched by the sidelines as I gained. Not that that make it "all right".

~MOh wants a few more things too...dunno if I wil get them, but STRONG HINTS aRE STRONG hints,...you guys know that drill....

~NO TRAIN STUFF.. I have enough HO scale stuff to fill a basement sized-layout. I have enough N scale stuff to build a 4x8 of it easily. I DON'T have any Z scale which is what I am looking at now...Whistling

Hi Keith,

Nice Buildings, that's one scale I never tried. N-scale, I believe it is a little late in life for me to try though.

Thought I would share a car pic with You...one of five classic cars, I have rebuilt/restored over the past 25yrs and close to my favorite. A 1949 Ford, rebuilt flathead V8, 3-speed trans with overdrive, outstanding dual exhaust, will get anyone's attention. Had this as my Avatar for awhile, but hard to make out in the small pic. Took me 3yrs to complete, almost all by myself. Except for the bird dropping, that was dropped just for the picture. LOL.

Take Care! Big Smile

Extra strong coffee in a SOUTHERN PACIFIC mug, please.

Cool boat (big ol' car) pics being posted in here. Back when tautos were made of metal and offered easy engine access. Sigh, love those beasts.

Not much to report on from the funny farm. Planted more fruit and nut trees a few days ago, most were replacements for those planted last year that didn't survive. Taking extra precausions with them this year.

Question for you Car guys: Have you heard of adding transmission fluid to the engine oil and idleing it for 30 minutes prior to an oil change, to remove any/all sludge? Was told because of the high detergent in tranny oil, it really cleans stuff out. (I waited too long with my truck oil change and found sludge in the bottom. OOPS!)

Healing thoughts for those in need.

Cheers! Rob

Garry .. Thanks so much.  I didn't want to get into the details.. but yes.. this is N scale and it was a exercise for the mind as what to do.

The white 'slat' boards made from styrene sheet is rather thick, but has great detail. I had only a single edge razor blade to do the cutting.  So yes.. for N scale it wasn't easy.  To glue various parts of styrene to one another is messy.  Traces of CA can be seen if not done properly,  at times I used wood glue only to hold things in place, getting real strength from coming back with 'toppers' glued with CA gel... in which seemed to gather the whole cornus together.  My fingers are fat.. my wife doesn't like me using her twizzers.. my hands shake.. I can't see well.  Thats why I used a combo of wood glue to tack things in.. only to come back with a final CA gel glue. I do have a thin version of sheet styene 'slat' boards from another company I believe, but the detail in the slats was lacking.  Plus the thick styrene gave me strength for the tall frontage of the building.

Just wanted to share some of it with ya..~ It was truly a mind exercise.  I still have decals and signage to put on it.

Thank you Garry.. I appreciate it..it gives me strength for the wood kits I'll be doing,  I usually change what I don't like.. replace parts and at times built a building in Reverse (see Best Auto Garage 2 pages bacK)

Keith ... The scratch built building is outstanding. I think you said you are in N scale. That makes the building more remarkable.

Hope everybody has a good Saturday.

Frank,  when I saw that pick, certain things raced through my mind.  That fact that was 'Silver' in color.. hmm Silver Streak.. no no.. Silver Bullet~!  Known for Horsepower in their year.  Oh yes,  we've heard of the Straight Six, Slanted Six, V8's.. but this beauty had a Straight Eight.  On a side note,  I don't know if any of you remember the original 'standard' car brakes.. nothing like todays 'Power Brakes'  back then.. to do a panic stop.. you practically almost literally stand on the brakes.. lol.

OK.. lately when I post, I always try to post pics too.  Although building kit structures takes time,  I try to post every other day here.. or soon there after.  Enjoy the pics.

Here's my latest.  My 2nd stratch built building.

On a side note, being that I have been successful in building these, I've decided to go out and buy a quality paper cutter for the cutting of styrene.

On another side note,  I'm not seeing any Doctors or Dentist.. I've had my share the past 2 months.  I didn't want to mention about them considering Jeff's and a few others going through their tough times.  As it was I was having two teeth pulled. Molar and a wisdom tooth.  Truly a tough act to follow.  I never knew those teeth were in there that good.. I was waiting for the Dentist to place his foot on my chest to get a better position.

Thats all folks.. Take care Keith

Feels like January, but calendar says November.

Ken ... Sparky looks healthy in the photo. Nice looking dog !

Accents? I grew up near Chicago, and that accent stayed with me even though I lived several places afterwards.

I worked more on the layout. I installed more track.

Happy Model railroading, everybody

6 hours, and no one in? DO I smell????

No, no, Galaxy, I smell...  You Stink!  Somebody once said something like that I think...

Hitler: My dog's got no nose!
Soldier: How does he smell?
Hitler: Awful!
     - Monty Python Sketch

Got up to my sisters house about 11AM found the ket right where it is supposed to be.  I was worried that it didn't get put back in the proper place and my sister might have it down in Georgia(State not country, although I'm not sure the people she is visiting actually know that).  Got the heavy duty extention cord out and plugged in the ESEV (charging cable) and the cable said it had a ground fault.  Won't connect to the car unless it see a proper ground on the system.  Finally found the problem was with one of the two outlets down cellar in my sisters house.  Changed to the other one and the charging started right up.  She wanted me to unhook her outside watering hose and turn the water off to it.  I did that and then came in to drain the pipe going outside.  She had been quite upset that last year the old outside faucet froze and cost her $$$ to get replaced because I evidentally didn't drain it right last Fall.  I unscrewed the cap that drains the pipe and found that the person who put the shut off on the pipe put it on backwards!!!  I will have a friendly conversation with little sister when she gets home. Whistling

The Kitty Clim got fed.  He actually came upstairs from the basement as soon as he heard me open the can of food...  He was a bit upset when he found it was me doing that, but his hunger overcame his fear of me and actually let me pet him a bit while he ate.  Hoping that by the time his human comes home he will decide I am OK.  Finally got a hold of my SIL who will feed him tomorrow.

Need to feed the wood stove.  Catch you all later!

Well

Jeffrey: What were you trying to say about Ulrich>???

~Went to Wally world and bought a few items. among them were the LeapPad2 adn some "entertaining" reading, mathematics, and science "games" to go with it for our 5 year old great god nephew. He is naturally in Kindergarten, so he is doing some of those things already, but at an age rating of 4-7yrs, should give him LOTS of "entertainment" which he won't realize is "education"!!

~I placed a massive $265 Xmas order with a company for 13 of a variety of things, and they are holding shipping of any items for all for one item being back-ordered which was supposed to be in by 11/7. I called them again now and said "ship what you've got NOW, and ship the BO item later, DUH!" Holding up an order of 12 items that I ordered WELL in advance of Xmas so it'd be here well in advance of Xmas, SHOULD BE HERE well in advance. The longer it waits to come to me, the less likely I am to order form them again, and I told him so-the Customer Service guy on the phone, because the website says my order # is an "invalid" one! GRR. He gave me a lousy $5 credit "towards you next order, just use by Xmas"..IF I ever oder again! It is the 3rd order with them...first one was here in 3 calendar days, second in 5 calendar days. this one now is over 8 calendar days old and has YET to be shipped! If it takes another 5 or so days to get here, well, lets just say I won't be happy! And I will NOT order form them agin. They have another $99 item that if MOH wants, we will get, but not buy form them if this is the kind of service they offer. Alls I need is more stressed out delivery peeps mishandling my packages due to holiday traffic!

~Got to go out later I THINk to get new mattress covers for the new mattress. Dunno.

~right now I think time for a nap with the puddy and MOH who camehome early.

have a greatr day!

Mornin'.....

Must be nice out...  This place has been deserted!  Zoe, I'll have a short stack of buttermilk Pancakes with real NYS Maple Syrup, a coiuple sausage links, and lots of Marrakesh Express Organic Dark Roast Coffee to keep my R&GV RR mug filled.

Sun has been out this morning so far!  Nice and bright.  Should have cleared the white stuff off the solar panels by now so the wheel down cellar should be spinning nicely at the moment.  They are saying s#0w flurries around 1PM today, and then partly for the rest of the afternoon.  Currently 32°F outside with a high of 35 by noontime then heading back down to 27°F overnight.

I am just about to leave for my sisters house to feed Clim and claen his litter box.  Do hope he is doing OK.  Both his kittie friend and his human aren't there so he is probably scared....  He is the one who does get scared easily.  Still trying to get in touch with my SIL to see if she can feed him tomorrow.

This afternoon I will be changing out the dead amplifier at church with a new one.  Shouldn't take long, but we need to get it done before Sunday and today is the only day available.  Hopefully that goes well and there is no other problem.

Catch you all later!

Had a visit from one of the reps at the Hanger clinic today. They're in the process of making not one but two prosthetic legs for me. Anew one for the left leg and a re-sized replacement for the right leg. I learned today that I will have a new TV to watch by Monday. Most of my time consists of boredom. It would be better if I had something to on. If anybody has a project to contribute you can send it to Jeffrey Wimberly, C\O Rosepine Retirement & Rehabilitation Center18364 Johnny B Hall Memorial Hwy, Rosepine, LA 70659

Galaxy - Of course I knew you would know what a poke is. Have every went swimming in the Crik ? Y'all know the water is warm ? Living up north amongst the Yankee folk have you lost all of your southern speak ?

Working in Northern Va I can tell you that I have lost just about all of southern drawl. There is a special drawl from the south western portion of Va that is like a salve to my soul when I hear it. Makes my heart ach to "go home", back to the beautiful mountains and away from the rude rats that live up hear. Just this morning on my way in this fellow turns on his signal and starts towards the lane I am IN. I start tooting my horn to let him know I am here. You know what he does ? Rolls down his window and starts cussing and denegrating my driving habits !!! Unbelievable. One day I will leave this area to these rats and go home where people are still friendly.

YGW

I have gone skinny dippin' in the crik. And often while in KY drew water from the well. {At least ways I am in an area of Upstate NY where one can swim in a crik when one is young, not skinny dippin' anymore...}.

I never had a "southern drawl"...remember it is my MATERNAL RUTS that are from KY. I don't have a NYC accent either, we are Upstate NY, where I was predominentally raised.

My G-ma, on the other hand, had a southern accent and some words I cannot print here to show it!

We used to visit KY relatives, though out in the middle of nowhere, it is a "dead zone"...might be nice for pace and quiet,, but to grab a hamburger? just be glad it's the county seat and assume that the "average" household income of just $11k will support a diner or burger joint or a restaurant at all-that isn't supported totally by strip miners-who are apparently leaving in droves now....

I never really liked using the outhouse...especially at night! As a child I kept looking for the flush handle!

Have you Ever had a meal cooked with real, old fashioned LARD cooked with a coal burning stove?

I can smell it now...

Afternoon folks!

Chloe, a cup of hot chocolate would be great right now.  Got home an hour ago from taking ny sister to the Rochester airport.  She was running late (as always) but I still got her there before 11AM for her 12:01 flight....  She has her timing pretty much down and knows exactly how late she can get to airport and still make the flight.  She was in a talkative mood meaning I woulkd nod my head a lot pretending that i actually hear what she was saying.  Of course if it required more than a grunt for an answer she would be poking my arm to get me to look at hear and chat rather than watch the road......  After all chit chat is far more important than safety.

Clim, the feral cat, was upstairs when I arrived but took off as soon as I opened the door (he lives in the basement).  I feel a bit sorry for him as this will be the first time since he decided to claim the house as his territory that he will be totally all alone.  He had been looking all over the house last night and this morning for Claude who is being boarded so the Vet can watch him with his urinary problems.

Currently 34°F outside with little white thingies falling out of the sky.  High for the day will be 38°F, and down into the 20's overnight.  First thing I did after getting back home was light the wood stove.  While the wood is fully cured, it has been out in the driveway and got rained on several times.  It is not taking off like the really dry wood that has been under the roof on the back porch for a couple years....

Ken, glad I was of help to you.

Jeffrey, behave yourself before you get charged with harassing the pretty nurses... Whistling

I have to staple, fold and get a bunch of mnewsletters ready to mail out this afternoon.  Catch you all later!

Well

Ddi the grocery shpping this AM...spent WAY more than I thought I woudl! GOt an extra $0,40 off per gal of gas up to 20 gallons, though.

~awaiting on a train-buddy friend to come along. He is to drop by soon I guess...

~YGW: Yes I have put many things in a poke..including lots of groceries this morning- also in a bag, sac, sack, duffle bag, tote, sachel, knapsack, pocket, carryall, pouch, and others....YOu didn't think i didn't know what a poke was?!

~Kev:Yeah that is my thought,,, I just wonder, too, if it could use a front end alignment...they siad "no" at Firestone...But if they replaced the 1/2 shaft, I would think it only prudent to do so? I am not exactly a car guy, but...dunno.

~well, my friend should be here soon,

~ got a call that "you didn't return your medication Help form, plase call SS..."...Uh, yes I did..a while ago...so I am waiting for a call back, they siad hte wiat was 40 minutes, or I could get a call bacak whne my place was up...I took the call back...so now waiting on that too...I THINK they DID get it, cause I called last week and asked some questions aotu my coverage and they answered as though they HAD gotten the form! So don't know!

~HEAP applications {Home Energy Assistance Program}are out next Monday so I will have to go get one, we are under the income level for a 2 person household yet again....that will be great, Unless they calculate WRONG again like last year!

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

~I have teh hiccups, any one know a sure fire way to get rid of them? they tend to come in threes for me when I get them...This is the first batch...nad they tend to last a long time for me...

Yup if you have hickups, just drink about 1/2 to 1 oz of Pickle Juice. Works for my wife like a dream and she's the Queen of Hickups.

Well Z stripe .. you and I guessed the same.. but got it wrong.  Dennis was right on~  1948 Chevy 'Fleetline'  truly a choice car.  I ran out asked my neighbor.. "Can I get a pic ?" He said yes.. and that was all I needed. It wasn't even his car, it was his friend visiting.  You should see some of the cars that come by here.  I'll post a few in the future.

OK.. here's my on going continuing saga of.. Scratch Built, My Very First.

Also,  I'm building this wood kit.. not quite done,  and a bit colorful.. I'm sure i'll tone it down.

Take care all~ (btw these models are N-scale)

~Their claim was "we fixed the half shaft again, but there is still a transmission shimmy that if you want that  to go away, It is a non-issue and won't hurt it any,, but you will have to have a  transmisssion place  fix it if you don't want it there. We don't do transmissions!" In other words, 'we put it in once, replaced it under warrantee now its your problem......we wash our hands of it...'

I find that hard to buy into. Any out of normal vidration would show that something is wrong and it can't be good. It has to be tearing something up. JMHO

Sounds like you don't have a VC in that trans.

Cold here. 25 going to 30 then down into the teens tonight.

Mister Beasly - The F 15s are something to behold when they come roring over. I built a subdivision over in MclEan Va and the chief of staff for the airforce purchased a home we built. When an air force pilot would die they would fly the formation over this subdivision. Very touching to see the plane off out of the formation. BUT those things would shake the ground. I tell you if one was flying in my direction with guns pinted my way. They wouldnt have to pull a trigger. I would just keel over and die from fright. Save them the bullet !

Ken - Oh ! I get it. Like the name though.

Howmus - LOL South Carolina - " soveriegn state " ?

Galaxy - I recognize that word rut ! Have you ever put something in a "poke" ?

Blown out cylinder good luck on the doc appointment.

Well guys I have tried to post on here several times in teh past during lunch break BUT for some reson the folks on the site think I dont et and show up during my lunch break and invade my lunch time with questions, needs, problems etc...By the time they are gone its way past lunch and other issues are pressing ! Bang Head

On veterans day our churched invited vets to come by (58 came ) so that we could honor them. Our Pastor a retired Seargent Major from the Marines presented each one with a commanders coin from our church that he had specially made. It was pretty awsome as he stood and saluted each one and they "sqaured up" and received the coin. Some teared up a bit. Apparently no one had ever said thank you to them.

To all of the vets on here - THANK YOU ! We are GRATEFUL to you AND your family for the sacrifice you made.
