Hi Guys,

The head cold is still with me, all stuffy but that is about the worst of it. Which is fine with me. I cant stand when you get a cold and get the aches and pains with it. I found when I was at work yesterday that I feel better then when Im at home just sitting around. I think moving around helsp the best for me with a cold. Last night I fell asleep soon as I hit the bed and got a good nights sleep so Im sure that helps and maybe tonight I can get to bed early also.

Talk to you guys tonight or in the morning sometime.

What the heck, I might as well post my morning greeting too, while I am at the 'puter...

GOOD THURSDAY MORNING!

October 9th, 2014!

Thoughts for today: {this one is interesting:}:

When the last tree is cut, the last fish is caught, and the last river is polluted; when to breathe the air is sickening, you will realize, too late, that wealth is not in bank accounts and that you can't eat money. -Alanis Obomsawin, filmmaker (b. 1932)

{Hmmm, I have been saying for years now that the wealthy will only be concerned that the poor have adequate health care and resources when they {the poor} are stricken by a communicable and transferrable disease that DOES NOT discriminate on who it attacks, and that when the "plague is over" they {the wealthy} will have no one to bury the contagious bodies for them, or to clean their toilets for them!}

Here are some more uplifitng quotes:

The secret of getting ahead is getting started.

Always do your best. What you plant now, you will harvest later.

Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.

SO...try to be a  rainbow in someone's cloud today!

Remember, If you want to HELP JEFFREY equip himself for a life without both legs and without  both feet, please message me here! maybe YOU can help be a rainbow in HIS very thick black cloud!

GO ahead, Make it  A

GREAT day!

Well,

Also worried a bit about Ulrich. I see he hasn't been in today, and wondering how he is holding up?
I know he got soma bad news recently about the job situation and what not.

And he is struggling with how to keep the trains running without losing his mind and where the money to do a new layout will come from?

His heart can only take so much!

well, we can only hope for good news.

Huh?

WEll,

FIrst: Jeffrey: I was "out sick" today after my morning post..I had a migraine and then began to react to the med I take to cure it, so i did NOT see your post until now! I am gravely sorry to hear that particular news, though I saw it coming and didn't say anything so as to not  jinx you. CAN you REALLY adapt to living in that trailer, or will you have to seek alternative handicapped housing that may allow for you to use things like a wheelchair when needed? Is there a Veteran's home nearby for you? WIll your van be able to be handicapped assisted drivability? I REALLY DO HOPE that things will turn around for you! I have a prayer candle up just for you, whether you believe in it or not!

ANYONE who wants to help Jeffrey finance his modification needs that are NOT paid for by his medicaid, PLEASE send me a message here! I'll tell you what we are going to try to do to help Jeffrey!

After this, anything much else I could say tonight/this morning won't possibly help at all much, I don't think,  Jeffrey.

Sad

Jeffrey, you must have posted while I was writing my post this morning/afternoon. I totally missed it and had to go back to find out. I am so sorry to hear your news. I guess that explains the fever and not feeling good a few days back. I have a dozen or so questions I want to ask, but I know you don't know the answers to them yet! Concentrate on keeping a strong mind and attitude my friend. Know you will be in my prayers as this unfolds!

One thing I'll have to do is make some modifications to my home to try and make it more more handy-capped friendly. Things like lift rails, rails on the walls in the hall and such. I certainly don't expect to get much help with this but every little bit will help.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, could I get a hot cup of decaf tonight?  A piece of the Grape Pie with some Cool Whip on top would hit the spot as well.

My Night Blooming Cereus has about 8 buds on it.  Last night one opened up making the house smell wonderful.  I don't think any will open tonight, but tomorrow night there should be at least 2 possibly 3.  Here is a photo from last year:

I went to the Dermatologist this afternoon.  The nurse who sees people first had about 20 questions for me...  Stuff like, does your psoriasis cause any discomfort or itching?  I just laughed and siad, "Ah, yeah...  It's psoriasis!"  the doc came in and checked out all the spots where I have it and said, I had the process for treating it down and they all look good.  See you in 6 months.

Time to head out to bed....

Good Evening Diners, today was a cloudy comfortable day. You don't have to many of them in the desert.

It's been raining here for nearly two hours. Now it stopped with reports of traffic and flash floods. Luckily I watched rain flood the back yard in my house

Just relaxing on some reading and washing dishes. Talk to you later.

Jeremy - not sure which is worse. Wind or animals very frustrating either way.

Hey all. Been very busy of late, sorry havent been in, in a while. My site has kicked it up several knotches and I am busier than a one armed papaer hanger right now. Water lines going in, sanitary going in, two foundations, dry utilities, site work etc...Phew makes me tired thinking of it all.

Home front - Need prayers for my oldest daughter. She have found some medical issues. She has 50 % loss in her hearing in one ear and she also has constant back pain from an earlier fall on teh porch steps. They took an MRI last night. Waiting to hear teh results.

MRR - Front There is another modeler who is selling his stuff in teh NMRA - JRD Division (mostly N&W stuff ) and I have put a bid in on a Sunset Models 4-8-0 M-1, J 4-8-4 #600, J 4-8-4 # 610, Broadway limited 2-6-6-4 and an option a  Y-3 2-8-8-2 by Proto.

Well gotta get back to w**k

Mornin' ever.......  Opps....  Ahem!  Afternoon everyone!

Chloe, I'll have a Reubin Sandwich with curly fries and a large dill pickle for lunch today.  A refill of the dark roast coffee would be great too.

Slept in late again this morning.  Feeling a bit more rested now.  I somehow need to finish the mailing to the Division membership today.  When I don't know.  I just got home from Staples where I bought some expensive ink cartridges to finish up the printing.  I also have a bunch on order for the Ink Technologies as well, but they won't arrive until next week.  Also stopped at the local "High Falutin'" clothing store in town to buy a black tie to wear with my conductors outfit for the Fall Foliage Rare Milage trips on the 18th.  That set me back $40...  But they did have exactly what i needed in stock right in the display, so i can't complain.

Have a dermatologist appointment this afternoon in Canandaigua.  Due to a glitch in their new notification system I am about 4 months overdue.  She will write me Rxs for all the various cremes and salves I use for psoriasis.

And one thought/quote for the day...."The entire history of mankind is, in any case, nothing but a prolonged fight to the death for the conquest of universal prestige and absolute power."Albert Camus

Have a good day out there!

Hey Galaxy, don't be upset with me, I was just having some fun....  I just happened to find a bunch of those quotes and thought this might be a place to use them....

I wasn't upset, maybe "the more quotes the merrier"-galaxy{1963---}

I hope people at least READ them, and maybe digest what they say, and how they can be applicable in thier lives.

The political ones I tend to leave alone...such as something like "war around the world will be the undoing and end of mankind" -nobody & everybody.{0 BC-2014AD}

SO with tha I leave you for the rest of the night, or be back first thing to psot the morning greeting!

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a decaf for me right now....  Thank you Ma'am!

I have spent most fo the day getting a couple things ready to snail mail out to the NMRA Division membership.  Still have one page to write.  Started printing part of it, but ran out of ink for the Epson printer...  Have lots of ink for the Canon, but that one has the color completely messed up so I am using up ink in stock for Black and White printing.  It will then be recycled...

I did make a run out to the Mennonite farm store.  They still had sweet corn so I picked up a couple ears for supper.  I had to be over at the Methodist Church for a Den meeting of the Pack by 6PM.  We were supposed to have an outing to a local radio staion.  The District Executive is good friends with one of the people over there and made arrangements for the Cubs to come over to tour the station.  While they are there he records them and plays it back for the Cubs.  He also makes a copy they can take home with them.  Unfortunately they had to postpone it so we will be going to the Radio Station next week instead.

After I got home, I went back to work on the creating of documents to send to the NMRA membership.....  I did get down cellar to do about a half hour of roof work on the Dairy...  Whoopie!

Hey Galaxy, don't be upset with me, I was just having some fun....  I just happened to find a bunch of those quotes and thought this might be a place to use them....

Prayers to all in need!  Have a great night and be blessed.

Good Evening. Wasn't feeling good today. My nephew put a battery in the GL20, started it and drove it around the loop several times. I went over to look at it and found he was putting tranny fluid it it. It's supposed to take Dexron/Mercon. He was dumping in ATF+4 and power steering fluid, pretty much whatever he could find. Stupid! I fried a tranny doing that! I told him that was improper and would have to be drained out and replaced. I let my father known about it too. He said he'd told him to drain it and do it right. One of my nephews friends wanted to pair it up tail to tail with my RAM but I nixed that in the bud quick!

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

 Afternoon Dinners

 Flo, Beer Please

VA Visit, Seems my eyes are in perfect health for being farsighted! Yes So being diabetic has done no damage at this point. They dilated my eyes and last time it did not bother me at all, this time it did! I had to wait a hour and use the Cheap Sunglasses when I left and came home.

While I was in the waiting room I spoted a guy reading, want to guess? Yes Model Railroader Magazine! Stopped and chat for awhile and told him about K-10 Model Trains! He had never heard of it for some reason. Gave him my name and number (Like a idiot I forgot to get his) and invited him up.

Blood Lab Was Busy So I had a wait which was fine with me. I was waiting for my vision to come back. Hoping my number come bask better than the last time, I am trying. Last A1C was 7.1 which the VA thinks is fine from what they have told me in the past? I am still hoping for a 6.5 or lower.

Weight Loss My waist is small! I gained around 20 pounds when I quite NTB. I am now just one belt notch away from the last belt notch I made while I was at NTB. ( I have had the same belt for 15 years now ) I am cheap! I am guessing I have lost around 15 pounds from when I started working out. I only started the Diet last week. I will weight my self again this coming Friday.

Ulrich Have you given up on the Japanese Layout? If you are done with it, I sure would not mind having it. Could easly be made US based with a few new bulidings.

 See you all later, Ken

PS, Could not leave the MR Mag at the VA wainting room, there Pauls not mine.

Sir Madog

Frank - I did exactly what you wrote, but it did not solve the issue, although all buttons are green now.

Ulrich,

Thanks for the comeback, didn't see an answer....so I didn't know. Has to be something with Your browser then. I was using Mozilla Firefox and although  I had all green...quote did not work, showed a Javascript error. I switched back to Chrome and everything works like it should and faster.

Sorry it did not work. I am assuming MRR is up to date on their updates....couple months ago, they were not and I was told that by a TECH for Java.

I checked all my computer settings and found out, that Quicktime was missing. I installed it, but the quote button is still not working - strange!

Ulrich,

I guess either You didn't read it or ignored it. I replied to Your post for help, about a page ago. With a fix that usually works. Hopefully You are a subscriber. I don't know for sure if it will work for a non-subscriber, never tried, or heard someone that did. Quick Time player is not relevant in this issue...Javascript is.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of buttermilk pancakes with Real NYS Maple syrup....  Huh?  Oh, well, the Vermont stuff would be OK I guess.  Oh and a pot of the Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast Coffee please.

The sun is trying to shine today here in the Finger Lakes. Between the patchy cloudiness at least.  It is shining on my lawn at the moment but none of it is coming in the picture window in my dining room....  Why, the neighbors tree is shading my roof.  I wish those two trees in his front lawn were reversed.  The other one is almost bare now while the Maple hasn't even begun to change color....  About Halloween it will suddenly dump every leaf in one morning....  This was the day several years ago:

Thought I would once again add to (or answer) today's quotes....

Tuesday already?  Time flies when you're modeling, I guess.  I got the Tortoises wired up for the 3-way turnout in the staging yard.  The green wires to the frogs still need to be soldered.  I couldn't do those on the bench.  2 trains slept on the other side of the river last night.

Ken remarked:

I will be taking them to the VA Hospital Tuesday in case there is a lot of waiting time.

Waiting rooms are dreadful.  I don't want to sacrifice my MRs, but I take expired Walthers catalogs (the thin monthly flyers) to waiting rooms and leave them in the magazine racks.  I hate it when the only magazines are Parenting, Psoriasis Monthly and "Sawdust - the Magazine of High-Fiber Health Food."  I remember being in an auto repair waiting room, reading "Potato Chipper - the Magazine of the Snack Food Industry."

Thats not a bad idea what if we all took a couple of back issues of MR and left them in Doctors waiting rooms will it grow the hobby?

Good Afternoon!

Petra and I had our bi-annual meeting with the labor authorities this morning. Walking from the car park to the office was a tremendous torture for me. I still can´t walk without shots of pain going through my leg. When we were home my ankle looked like a balloon - swollen and red-hot. I put an ice-pack on it and now it looks much better.

The meeting itself went the usual way - we discussed possible job opportunities and mutually agreed there are none. What a waste of time!

Took a nap after lunch and just woke up. I still feel exhausted and drowsy.

I checked all my computer settings and found out, that Quicktime was missing. I installed it, but the quote button is still not working - strange!

Coming Saturday, my "old" layout will be picked up. It was my aim to have a precise idea about it´s successor, but I think I am going to fail on that. Still no idea (or, in fact, too many ideas)!

Make it a happy day!

Morning guys

Just dropping in before heading to work today. Looks like it rained out last night, the sun has been peeking out every now and then for a hour or so. Still cool out so hopefully it stays out and keeps things a bit warmer then it is right now. Well off to grab some breakfast.

See you guys tonight sometime

Work Was Plasant Today. Paul (GM) brought in around 20 Model Railroader Magazens today for me to read. He has let me bring them home. I will be taking them to the VA Hospital Tuesday in case there is a lot of waiting time. Paul and I talked alot about HO Scale trains today. Had a few sales and made a little extra $ wise.

VA Visit Getting my eye checked and will have my blood test done Tuesday. I am hoping my A1C test has came down some more. In Janury, it was 8.15, then Feburay 8.0, next time around May it was 6.9. I am hoping for a 6.5 or lower.

  See you all Tuesday, Ken

Post office just dropped off book now. I think that is the first time I have heard them come so late, usually they are never later then around 5. I might browse over it quick tonight before bed. I also orderd some of my favorite pens ( Pilot retractable ) Amazon usually has them cheaper then in stores. I might go back and order a pack of red and black ones. I usually use good ones at home and cheap dollar store ones at work ( I lose too many to use good ones, lol )
