Just talked with my father. He, my step mother, sister, niece and her husband are all at a hospital near here waiting for my nieces child to be born. So far it's still a waiting game.

JohnBoy .. It is a dynamometer car which railroads used for testing lcomotives. These were orginally in the steam era, but some continued to be in service in the diesel era. Most looked ugly, but Burlington repainted its dynamometer car from pullman green to red. Burlington was a classy railroad.

Well there has been a problem. My niece deliver the child naturally so they've taken her in for a C-section. Like mother like daughter it seems. Both my niece and nephew were delivered via C-section. More news as it comes in.
Well it's official. I have a new great nephew as of 6:52pm. Name: Lucas Myres, six pounds, fifteen ounces. Nineteen and three quarter inches. Mother and child are doing fine.
It's a warm night here. 81° with 83% humidity. Overnight low of 72°. 20% chance of rain.Been an eventful day here. I have a new great nephew to start working on. Gotta get him hooked on trains.Tomorrow morning I'll be going to see a cardiologist about getting a stress test done. Last one wasn't much fun, don't see why this one will be any different.time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
Evenin' folks!
Janie.... Can I get a refil on the decaf please?
Jeffrey, congratulations on the new Great Nephew. I'm sure you will "train" him up right!
I did the wash today and so got some time down in the train rooms. Got some grocery shopping done and got some speghetti sauce, riccotta cheese, and parmesan cheese. Had a nice large eggplant from the garden, so I made Eggplant Parmesan for supper tonight. I was supposed top bake some M&M cookies to take to the Troop picnic tomorrow night and had all the ingredients. Only one problem... The Brown Sugar is hard as a rock! So I have started to get it softened up again to use. Should be ok by tomorrow. Will get them done tomorrow morning or early afternoon. The fresher the better anyway! Tomorrow I have to get my last allergy shot (maybe next to the last allergy shot) as the Doc says I should be OK and not have a problem with the fungus I was allergic to. have to take in the SDHC card from the CPAP when I go so they can download it and report to medicare and my other insurance that I am indeed using it and that it is workimng the way it should. That will allow me to continue getting the supplies for it.
Oh this is a bit of progress on the scene with the bridge. I will be starting a much larger bridge soon. Right now you can see the "fill" and the stonework in progress for the next bridge abutment. This bridge will be a steel truss bridge carrying the tracks over the lower tracks in the cut. Ultimately there will be at least two large bridges built to complet the return loop, possibly three.,
I think I shall call it a day and head to bed... Prayers for all in need!

Jeffery Congrates on the Great Nephew!
Pleasent Surprise at work today. Opened my paycheck thinking it was going to be for $835.00. Nope, it was for $1238.85. Last two months have been the best months I have ever had with this company. If only it had kept going I would not need to worry about making the house payment. This month on the other hand! Not a chance in heck of beating draw and not a Dime in spiff so far!
Bank Of Stupid Had to make my self call them today. This month statement showed me owing $195.00 in late fee's? Finally got hold of my rep and he said the loan is not done yet, so the payments I have sent in have not been applied yet? I don't believe a word I am told by them any longer! But what can I do?
Workout Felt normal tonight and did lift when I got home. Was some what dissapoited with the results. Lost two reps in the last bench press max weight. But I had changed the routine, and I did stress the Pecks some what when I started. Main thing is I did workout! Hope to work my arms Thursday after I get home.
See you all later

Jeffrey: Congrats on being a Great Uncle! I have just become a "great Uncle " again too. Only a 9 1/2 pound bouncy baby boy! Complicated and non-relational, we have dear close friends, who have an adopted adult son, and he and his wife just had # 2 son. Both boys are our Heirs according to our Wills, since we have no children or nieces/nephews of our own. I have a childless brother, and MOH is only child. SO we chose them to be our heirs, when they reach the age of 30. Our estate ain't much nowadays, but could exponentially grow when our fathers pass away, so we DO need to have someone to leave it to. Charity seemed nice, but we'd rather someone who can use it. We hope by age 30 they are mature enough to decide how to properly use or invest it, and not blow it like mnay young people might. They cna pay off college, or buy a house or upgrade a house, or such, we hope. P.S. Up here, apparently, they PREFER to and SCHEDULE C-sections as ther are "less complications and risks to baby" doing it c-section! In other words, they want to obsolve themselves of "damaging the baby on natural child birth" if things like clamps or forcepts cause brain damage.
Well, I see the Orthopedist today about the calcific tendonitis in my shoulders, I have grinding "sand paper" into the tendons long enough, and they Had an earlier opening today, so Maybe I get relief sooner! may still need an MRI if he deems it so, and will need the proceedure done done the road, be it simple "needling nad lavage" or fullon rotator cuff surgery. The sooner I get relief the better, I say!
Saw the cardiologist's nurse practicioner/physicians assistannt- whatever she is. SHe increased lasix to draw off more fluid from my legs and kept my BP med current.
Well, that is my day so far.

Never forget. We had our annual memorial service outside work this morning. The company lost 4 guys on the planes. I didn't know them personally, but some of my co-workers did.
It will be a bit humid today, with thunderstorms possible, but then we'll be back in nice weather. I'm lovin' it.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Morning guys
Just doing a little house cleaning before I go to work. There is a slight mist outside at the moment so I hope it stops before I walk to work ( wife has car today ) I am only a 10 minute walk so Im sure I will be ok, there are alot of trees to walk under too so thats good.
talk to you guys tonight sometime
September 11, 2001.My wife and I were in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We had flown to there on September 9 from Nashville, TN via American Airlines changing planes in Boston. We spent 9/11 watching the horrors on TV from our hotel room. About 50 trans-Atlantic flights were diverted to the Halifax airport because flights could not enter the USA. After watching what happened, we knew we would not want to fly home even if it was allowed. Thousands of people were trying to find ways back to the USA. Some formed groups and were charting buses. We considered that. We asked the car rental company if we could drive our rented car home, and were told it would be over $3,000. Forget that. The ferry boat from NS to Maine was another option, but we did not do that. We were able to obtain tickets on Via Rail several days later. We took VIA's Ocean to Montreal. Then we rode VIA to Toronto. In Toronto we spent 2 nights at a hotel before boarding an Amtrak's International which we rode to Flint, MI. There we rented a car which we drove one-way to Nashville. This photo is one I took in the dome-observation car on VIA's Ocean soon after departing from Halifax.
September 11th. I don't think I'll ever forget that day. I was busy running my paper route. Two hundred miles a day, five days a week. I was about halfway through it. Listening to NPR Morning Edition as was usual for me. They had special report come up which was unusual for NPR. It stated that a small plane had hit the World Trade Center. A little while later it was changed to state that the plane was an airliner. Not long after that a report came through that the second tower had been hit by another airliner and that the Pentagon had also been hit. I went on about my business until I got to Burr Ferry. Stopped at Peavy's store. He had his TV on CNN where by that time the reporter was getting hoarse. We both watched as the towers fell. Since that day I haven't logged even as much as an inch in the air in anything bigger than a single engine Cessna. It's 82° with 86% humidity. The high will be 95° with a small chance of thunderstorms. with Gotta go see the cardiologist this morning then call the hospital to reschedule my foot surgery. Other than that I have no plans.
WEll
That was short easy and quick.
Went to the Orthopedist and I was early, he was early so I got right in before even completing paperwork update. He naturally ordered an MRI for the calcific tendonitis, but strangely only for the rt shoulder. Don't know if they HAVE to do one at a time or what, but that is what he did. I got in to the MRI tonight at 8:15pm in the OPEN MRI machine, so that is just as quick. He would have given me a shot, but that woudl look like fluid around it in the MRI, so undesireable. I just want RELIEF! I DON'T like driving at dusk/night, but want the relief quickly enough {finally} to do so.
I will re-see the Dr. on the 30th for next deal on it. soon enough for me!
I thik computer has a virus, so I will have to call the support center and have them clean it up again. Favorite Places on AOL are disappearing and resetting to like years ago, and I have to keep resetting links like this one. It also IS S-L-O-W, and at busy times times out before it gets online.
I will havet o eaat something and the migaine I had yesterday is still pestering me, so I am not looking forward to a couple hours on the phone getting it fixed. I hope the Migraine eases more as I really really want the MRI tonight.
If I call during our daytime, I am apt to get an american worker who speaks English I can understand as opposed to some indian on the night shift whom I have to ask to spell out certain words so I can undestand him!
I will deal with the headache later if I feel better, I have a few business calls to make I dread making too, and should have yesterday, but with the migraine, couldn't. I HOPE it does not interfere with tonights MRI, maybe I can get MOH to drive me, doubt it as will be jsut getting home and want to relax and eat, so doubtfull.
Tomorrow is "big banking/CU-ing day" as MOH's good big check comes in. About time.
Right now I go take more excederine Migraine {extra strength same same} and hope headache relieves.
later.
Good Afternoon!
Who can forget where he/she was on that date! Sept. 11th, 2001 has changed the world, but I am afraid not to the better!
I spent the whole afternoon tinkering around with my D&RGW T-12. I dismantled it again, deburred the bearings of the gear box, took off the sides rods and valve gear and polished the backside, cleaned the tender wheels (which I had forgotten), as well as the truck bolsters on the tender. The result of this effort is amazing! It´s not the same loco anymore. Its ride is smooth and quiet, minimum speed has dropped down to about 1 scale mph - a joy to watch! There are still a few things left to do - install a LED in the headlight and a MV lens, and - not to forget check an maybe adjust the gauge. Unfortunately, I can´t get hold of a HOn3 NMRA gauge over here. The drivers are not quartered 100% perfect, but that is noticeable only at unprototypical speeds. The motor draws quite a few amps and will have to go, but only should I convert the loco to DCC.
I wish I had some more track to see the loco run properly!
Prayers for those who lost a loved one 13 years ago, but also to those, who suffered losses in the following and still ongoing conflicts.
Have a happy one!
Afternoon folks!
Chloe, just a refill for my dark roast..... Huh? yes I know this is the third pot, but I just can't wake up today...
Dull, as Barry used to say, just plain dull outside. Currently 71°F with a rain shower out there. Supposed to clear a bit this afternoon.
9-11.......... I was at my Father's house to be there when the rug installers came. My mom wouldn't have been able to handle that. My Dad had a major heart attack a couple days before and was still in the hospital. One of the installers got a phone call from his wife and turned white as a sheet! He asked if we could turn on the TV and said why. I helped bring the TV out and sit it on a built in cabinet next to the stairs. Had to hook up the antenna (remember those?). I can say that work on the carpet install pretty much stopped. They got a little over half done with what should have been a four hour job. They left with our blessing about 1PM. Came back and finished it the next day. My Mom couldn't figure out whay anyone would "drive" an airplane into a tall building... She was already not all there... Early mid stage dementia. Was a sad day in so many ways in my family. Man's inhumanity to Man on so many levels and still around.
Have to take a batch of cookies out of the oven! Later!
Hey all. 9-11-01. 13 years ago today, I was about 9 years old (almost 10) and in whatever grade that was. My teacher at the time turned on her portable TV (remember those?), about the time the second plane hit. So yeah, we all saw it happen. I also have a personal thing to flight 93-I saw it. It flew over my town, and was the only plane I saw all day. It was flying low, and it fit with the flight path. Someone else saw the same plane flying low over a spot about 3 miles away from the school, so yeah...I saw flight 93.
I am off until Saturday, so I am not sure what to do with my time. My one cat's feeling better-his ear had swollen up and looked reddish, but it's starting to go back down to a normal color and size. I Also got my driver license renewal thing-I get my first real license, since I got my first license when I was 18 or so-I still qualified for a Junior's license. Oh yeah, does anyone have any suggestions on how to body mount couplers?
(My Model Railroad, My Rules)
These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway. As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).
Lots of rain, lightning and thunder today and to top it off I got smacked by a train. No kidding! A close lightning strike knocked two Bachmann GP7's off the display rack. One hit my right arm and the other landed on my head. I don't care what anyone says, those babies are heavy!
Jeff ... Wow! ... Glad you were not hit by the lightning.
Below is a photo I took last Saturday from a boat on Lake St. Clair while we were in Michigan.
You can see two of the six Blue Angle jets that were in the air. ... They can fly close to the ground and are very loud.
Evening guys
Just stopping in. Had something to eat when I got home and got a couple games in on NHL 15. Still debating If I want to pick up the latest Madden game also. I like to play video games in free time when the weather turns cold out in addition to working on the railroad.
Flo, Beer Please
9-11-01 I was a manager for Midas at the time. We had the TV on in the lobby and I saw the second plane hit. I just don't understand all the hate the world has!
Work Over all a pleasent day. Had a couple of good sales and Paul wanted to talk HO trains at the end. He worked 4 years in a hobby shop and was telling me how much a engine was back then, $15.00 for a good one! Thinking about taking in the Bachmann EZ comand, the Y6b and some track so he can see DCC first hand.
Work Out Yep hit it again and it felt good. I still need some small plates and a two bare dumb bell handles and collar's. Found a sporting good store that sales second hand equment near the Fairview Heighs store. It is worth checking out, I need one 1.25 pound plate, one 2.5 pound plate, two 5 pound plates and two 10 pound plates and would like to have a second EZ Curle bar like the one I have now. I be in heaven if they have a cheap Preacher Curle Stand!
Have a lot to do Friday. So I better head in.
Just getting ready for work now. Cool day out today and looks like things are going to remain that way for the next week or so.
Played some NHL last night and may pick up the new madden football game tonight after work. I have to work tomorrow too but then am off Sunday. So that will be my day to cut grass and clean up the garden. I also have to cut a few others lawns that day too.
Well I should gte going, I will drop back in sometime tonight
Have a good day
Good morning. It's 76° with 96% humidity. The high will be 90° with a slightly better than fair chance of showers and thunderstorms. with Feel better today. My headache from yesterday's bonk on the head by a Bachamnn GP7 is gone. Now just waiting on my Home Health nurse to call. Other than that I have no plans.
Friday!
Our daughter will be dropping by this weekend. I legally own her car, so it has to be registered here, and that means it has to be inspected here. So, we swapped cars and I got that done for her. Ended up costing me a bundle, as it needed struts and a pair of tires. When I saw how bad one of the struts was, I wouldn't have let her drive it like that, anyway. Still keeping her safe from harm. Once a Daddy, always a Daddy, I suppose.
Mr. B .... I know what you mean in your last sentence. It never ends.
Last couple of days I have been installing tiny grab irons on Walthers passenger cars. This not the most fun model railroading chore.
I hope everybody is having a happy Friday!
Cheers!
It´s sunny, but quite cold outside - the way I like my weather! Fall is my favorite season. I like the colors of fall, the crisp air and the scent of winter...
I am up to nothing today. I even have not unpacked the tool I ordered. It´s a corner clamp which will help me making perfectly square corners when building the modular benchwork. I got a for just a handful of bucks in a sale. I don´t know how I did that in the past, somehow there was always a hand lacking.
The new meds have not yet kicked in, so I am not feeling too well.
Garry, I forgot to mention what a nice photo of the Blue Angels that is. I used to work in a building that was adjacent to the air base where they had air shows. One Thursday afternoon, the Blue Angels arrived for the Saturday show. They buzzed our building at treetop level, so close that I could read the numbers on the underside of the wings. On the next pass, the did it inverted and I could read the numbers on the top side of the wings.
Ulrich, I've got a corner clamp, too. It really makes it easier to assemble benchwork, and I'd recommend one to anyone doing that kind of work. Good move. Have you gotten together with any of the Fremo people yet?
Mr. B.- that´ll be another two weeks, before I will meet them. Eagerly waiting for that ...
Hey all
Sorry havent been around in a while. Not from lack of trying . Life has slipped into overdrive on w**k front and home front.
For me 9-11 was very real. In our church we had people who were in the pentagon at the time it was hit. One fellow was blasted and thrown against the opposite wall in his office. Our sister church in the area that we had a hand in helping to get off of the ground one of their members was killed. She was in the pentagon too. The husband took it VERY HARD. He went to the pentagon and sat for days on the curb , sobbing, as they tried to sort it all out.
A guy I work with was at the pentagon that day as the plane hit. He said that there were two or three men on the helicopter pad outside, as the plane approached they were pointing at the plane and seconds later when the plan hit they just "disappeared", blown into eternity.
I was at work and recieved a call from a coworker. At lunch time I went to a local dive and watched in horror as they replayed the planes hitting. I will NEVER FORGET a muslim man who was in that crowded resturant who when he saw the plane hit the tower he started to celebrate. I have never wanted to do physical harm to anyone but that day I wanted to hit that guy and pummel him into the ground. I am still angry at my self for not beating him up. I still want to hit him. But my God says vengence is his. I will have to settle for that.
It is odd all these years I still get tense and angry about what those fanatics did to my country and my friends.
Gotta get back to w**k will check in later.
