After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

Tomorrow he's going to see if everything's tight then start it and see if he can get off the trailer without any major problems. That sounds good to me as I want to see it moving under it's own power. The sooner it's road ready the sooner the old RAM can be retired.

Jeffrey: good to hear he's at least doing SOMETHING to help, finally. Maybe that "give the truck to Jeffrey" thing worked!
Do you have anual inspections for "road worthiness" down there? You gonna drive it to the shop to do it or trailer it there?
Now, the Q will still remain, though, as to when daddy/granddaddy is gone, WHO gets the TRUCK? {beside step mother/step G-ma}?

howmus Got a large tooth repaired/filled today to the tune of $195. This is one that was pretty much all filling to start with and I got another cavity under the filling. Still have two extensive crowns to get done. Tomorrow I have an appointment with the hearing place to clean and reset the hearimng aids... Next week it is the Dermatologist... If it weren't for doctor's appointments I wouldn't have any social life at all!

Ray: I have FIVE Doctor's appts. THIS WEEK alone to attend to. ONly one is for MOH! Then the orthopedst wants me to start PT on my shoulder.That is of course, many visits. I say shoulder because, while they will want me to work both arms, I am sorry, I won't do the left until he does a shot in it like the right arm! WHile I was going in for PT with my back exacerbation after the car accident, I happened to mention to the therapist that I had pains in my shoulders. SHe had me for two days doing simple exercises {like lifitng my cane above my head} and then I SCREAMED foul! I was in such agony, and that was before we knew about the calcific tendonitis. I can greatly understand PT AFTER surgery, but "just because" as a cheap alternative to anything else, they throw PT at you! Like to have an MRI these days you havet o of course have xrays first. So PT is the "first thing we do"....
Problem is they are naturally finding arthritis everywhere. Including in the shoulder too, along with the calcium deposits.

What am I doing up so late? dunno. I went to bed at 8:30 and woke up wide awake at 10 and haven't slept a wink since. SO I got up to take a sleep med, waiting for it to kick in now. So I thought I'd pop in here! Back to a no sleep schedual I am and being sick is not helping. I took some nyquil at 10, and usually it knocks me out on the first 3 doses for awhile, but not tonight, but it is last years leftover preparation, maybe lost its *Umph*.

I was just sitting down to dinner tonight around 7PM. Bought a nice roast of Beef today and decided to have that. Knew dinner would be late... Also had mashed potatoes and gravy and a couple ears of fresh local sweet corn... Anyway, just as I sat down I saw a flash of lightning outside, so I decided to at least unplug the PiP before I ate. Sat down again and there was a much closer flash and a rumble, so I decided I better shut down the computer as well before dinner. Sat down at the computer and flash even closer! All the lights went out except for the one on the shelf plugged into the battery backup for the comuter system. House was pitch dark except for those. I got the computer shut down and grabbed the flashlight I keep on the shelf next to the computer and went to collect the lanterns and candles I have around the place. Finally had a nice roast beef dinner by candlelight. Delicious if I do say so. Electric was out for about an hour and 45 minutes.
I did find out after the lights came back on that the repair on the railroad lantern I did was good when I decided to fill it with lantern oil. One small lantern that I have was out of oil so I filled that one. lights go out again I now have 4 working oil lamps/lanterns and lots and lots of candles. I also have a couple propane lanterns down cellar in storage. Three propane stoves and the wood stove round out my emergency supplies. Oh I should add I can hook up my 1000 watt inverter to the PiP to run the refirgerator, sump pump, and a few electric lights also. I like to be prepared, so to speak. I am getting a new/used oil burner unit for another RR Lantern (NYC) I bought a few weeks back.
Jeffrey, good to hear progress is being made on the newer wheels! Hope your nephew continues to get it ready for you.

Work I had had a pretty long dry spell this month. That ended Monday Big Time! Had an older lady that seemed a little out of it come in with a guy that worked for her. She was going from Bed to Bed and was on her cell phone most of the time. At one point I told Paul Either this going to be a big sale or guys with a straight jacket are going to come get her. When I heard the guy that worked for her talking on his cell phone about filiming a TV commercial I thought this might not a lost cause. After 2 hours she bought 2 Inner Spring Mattress, 2 Memory Foam Mattress, 2 Power bases and a real Wood Bed! She spent $7,000.00 and paid with a debit card?
Turns out she owens OL Henry Resturant and a St Louis largest Nursing Home.

Good Afternoon,
Well our week of summer in September is now over but it sure was nice. We had 80F for close to 10 days and so far no frost which is unusual.
Johnboy, nice to hear you had a good trip to Montana. I have only been there once and that was in 1955. We drove down there in Dad's 1951 Morris Oxford all the way to Milk River to visit a Great Aunt. It was a long trip in a Morris as Dad rarely pushed it more than 55 mph. I don't think they sold Oxfords in the U.S. at least not in the early '50s. They were larger than a VW but smaller than a Ford. For power it had a 1500 cc four with about 40 h.p. Not exactly a rocket. It had a 4 speed with a column shift and lots of leather inside including the door panels. That leather sure was hot but at least it was a light green. Whenever we stopped in a small town several men would ask Dad to lift the hood and some even got underneath to see the torsion bar suspension. It also liked to vapour lock and so Dad had one of those canvas water bags hanging off the front bumper. Turned out it was the electric fuel pump that caused the problem and dumping cold water on it solved it. After the Morris he had a 6 cylinder Chev for a couple of years and then he really went for power as he bought a '58 Meteor Rideau ( Canadian version of a Ford Fairlane) with the 300 hp Thunderbird engine unhampered by any power assists. That car was sold when I was 15 as I think Da was afraid of me driving it as it was quick for its day. It held first to 60 mph and second to 85 with the 3 speed Cruise-o-matic.
Well that was a lot of nostalgia for which I do apologize.
On the RR front I went to our local train show this past weekend and picked up a couple of PK2 box car kits for $4 each in CN livery of course. I also bought a couple of Red Caboose box car kits for $5 each. One CN and the other CP. An Athearn heavyweight coach turned out to not be a great deal. It was in a recent box for that car but turned out to be an old one with a round roof that someone had decorated themselves. They did a nice job though it would have been nice if they did both sides of the car. I guess I will have to run it only in one direction. Oh well it was only ten bucks.

1. The Train Yard in question is on the very top of the layout. Which means .. If I glue it down.. before I wire.. well lol.. I'd be working on top .. on my hands and knees.
2. So that leaves me with wiring it before I glue it down.. and see if its solid. Bullet proof and the track part.. solid in many ways.. electrical as well as good solid soldering... that is.. being able to pick it up and place it on the cork.. on the very top of the layout.
3. That is.. before or after I drill the holes for the wiring to go through the very top.
4. Just pick a spot and start to wire. Where to wire? How about 'Where to NOT wire?'
* I am more concerned about the Peco's (insulated) switches .. all lined up end to end.. times 2 .. (on both sides) .. of .. well do I even wire up those? And if I don't what then? Do I start with wiring the flexi track in the middle. And go from there. Testing the track on the kitchen table.. running some loco.
5. Re railers.. do I need them.. and the only location is in the middle.. where the flexi track lies.
* I've read before .. if you laid your track down correctly.. there is really no need for them.
So anyways.. thats about what is going on in my head.. concerning the wiring... of the Train yard.
I'd rather be working on mountains.. in which I have been.. while I think about the wiring.
Any suggestions.. warnings.. pitfalls you'd care to give.. I'd appreciate it.

The doctor said there was not as much calcium as he expected in the tendon, so he gave me the ol'e "shot in the arm" and said to call for PT. PT had better only be on the rihgt arm until 6 weeks form now when he does the ole "shot in the arm" on the left one, as I am NOT going to put up with injuring it further, as happened before while at PT when she suggested excersizes for the shoulders!
Made another rather large phone payment to reduce that bill so as to not acrue any more interest on that, and paid extra on the principle of a loan at the CU. Love seeing that balance go down!
I think I have to reset the cable modem again, computer getting slow, and I just made a phone call out on the computer phone to my father, who said I was breaking up, so the modem is messing up. Maybe it needs to be replaced? It's TWC's, so they have to replace it, not me! It seems to need a lot of resetting lately. Slowing down my internet connections!
That about it. MOH has the morning off as the client was sick again, seriously, apparently. I definitely have the cold going around, probably got it from MOH, who got it from a client or at second job, it is going around.
I will go lie down now for a nap now. That darn cat {remember that movie?} woke me this AM earlier than the alarm so he is not in our favor at the moment. he decides when he wants breakfast, and has learned the sooner he jumps all over uis and scratches the headboard or wall over our heads, the sooner he gets his canned food breakfast. Woke us boht up too early! we were NOT happy!

Good evening. It's a cool 72° with 95% humidity. Went down to my fathers place today to do some computer work for him. Got that done then he, my step mother and myself all went to Wagon Master for dinner. I had a garden salad with French dressing, fried catfish and sweet potato fries. I still have some of the catfish left for lunch tomorrow. Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Last July 5th we had to put down the black lab. 14 yrs. old and full of cancer. first time in 16 years with no dog. The border collie died last fall. Anyway, the deal was to go six months dogless. That changed last week when I found out we'll be babysitting( read, it's gonna be ours. that's how we got the lab!!) a golden retriever for a friend of MOH's. She says just for three weeks(!!!!!!!!) or so. Uh-huh. Suuuuure.
Ordered the new Polaroid Cube from that site with the same name as the river in South America. Inch and a quarter cube, size of an ice cube for video taping the layout. figure I'll put it on a flat car and see what we see.

Im in the same boat as your wife, I also have a crappy cold. I strated to feel it come on yesterday morning when out cutting grass and just thought it was allergies. All stuffed up today. I go to work tomorrow and for me when I have a cold the qucikest way to get rid of it is to work and sweat it out. SO with any luck it will only last a few.
Weather was wamr today too ( having a cold with hot humid weather is no fun,lol ) but things are really going to drop by Sunday. Todays high was 27c and Sunday it will be only a high of 11c. Funny, thats when I usually get a cold is when the temps swing so much in either direction. Usually just drink alot of water and gatorade and just try to flush it out.
Think I may just lay around tonight and watch football or play a video game.

The past days have been kind of slow on my end. Lots of kin folks to worry about. My MIL was sent to the hospital with heart issues, Petra´s aunt in the US is having a bad time in terms of health as well, and the one close to us suffering from MS is slowly succumbing to her illness. My own heart issues show only little improvement. As there is no bottom to worse, my thoughts about future MRRing activities are leading nowhere. I still want too much, without having the necessary foundation in skills, money and space.
IIt´s not 8pm and aleady pitch-black for over an hour. I have to get used to the darkness in my neck of the woods again. In 4 week´s time, it´ll be dark at 4pm

got a phone call and one form out of the way. I called the company representing to company {hospital and ancillaries} that took care of me after the accident. They want me to fill out form DV-whatever again. I said "My insurance company has it. It is in the hands of XYZ ABC, who, according to her voice message, is out of the offce until OCt. 6th".There was some conversation back and forth and I said again" it was faxed to her by my agent week before last...she has it all filled out". I never got the form from them in the mail..twice. SO I said "fax it to my agent, and I'll have him fax it back to you". Did. Over. DOne. MY PART is done. FINI. NOW let the insurance company earn the $1200 I am paying them a year to cover the brandy new car and my 8.5 yr old minivan with collision still intact..just in case or until it turns 10 or 12, whichever comes first.
MOH got a surprise morning off. The AM client called sick. SO MOH has spent most of the Morning in bed. I will soon join. As my scratchy throat is turning sore by the minute. Unfortunately the "no client thing" means shorter hours than 30 for this week, and short paycheck.. Bummer. Evening client has been sick and has yet to cancel, but may cancel too, who knows. MOH is planning on taking sick day Wednesday and Friday.with 56 hours of sick time, won't hurt to take 12 hours out, leaving 44 hours of "use it or lose it" time.
Made a rather large phone payment this AM instead of waiting for the monthly bill to arrive in Oct., and accruing more interest. Paying down 30% of all owed debts within 2 months is nice. GIve me six more months and if we keep on track, will have paid down about a whole 65%. Closer to being debt free. Now if nothing breaks, lost or stolen, and we keep on track and don't have sick clients and MOH still keeps the horrible second job and they give "full allowed hours" right up til the end of the year, we should be able to do that, come next March. That will leave one credit account outstanding, but lowered balance and all funds go to it and by this time next year toatlly debt free, if not sooner. Here's hoping. THEN MOH can quit "horrible second job" or can stay or cut available hours or what not. That took care of that 'errand'.
Well, I have laundry stalled as MOH turned dryer to "hold" while napping. SO, It is not getting anywhere. I can finish when MOH gets up for evening client. Dishes are all done, and stove scrubbed, so that chore is done, too.
So busy morning so far.

We are back from southern Montana. Had a great visit with #4 Son, and gave him some assistance with his reno of the house he bought in Laurel.
I had a good shopping trip to Jim's Junction in Billings and got some great deals on some Accurail and Bowser kits also 18 CMW Vehicles and some assorted parts and pieces required for some unfinished projects. ( I have a lot of them). Always a great place to stop and shop. John Olson, the Proprietor is a swell fellow to deal and talk with. ( not all 18 of those vehicles were from J.J. some had come to my son's from Walthers and F.D.Trains. Saves on postage ) )
There is a great old NP caboose that welcomes you to Laurel. It sits just before the underpass, under the rail yards on the main road into town. I got a good pix of it will try to post sometime especially for Brunton.
Must go for now as I am helping #3 Son do some insulating and vapor barrier work on a rental house he has.

Busy weekend , finished priming the kitchen, there must have been a million stink bugs on and some in teh house ! Does ANYONE have a good stink bug trap ? Geez I hate those things. Must have killed 100 of them this weekend.
So busy this weekend the only MRR I got done was reading the MRR mag and my NMRA mag. And some straightening of the work shop. That wasnt so bad I bought several bins and got some of teh misc filed away and labeled in the bins.
W**K front has been great - My boss teh VP has been gone for several days and I have gotten caught up on some back projects.
One very aggravting thing. The stupid google phone cleared and reset itself for some reason. Lost 100s of contacts and about 300 piuctures. Going to Verizon today. Really mad about this.

I only buy insurance from a local group! They have a real live Human Being available at all times they are open, and a short drive (about 3 blocks) will let me walk in, sit down, and have them straighten out any and all issues. cost? usually the same or less than the "We sell it much cheaper" places including the one with the obnoxius little reptile crawling around...
Ah... Yes I go back for the follow up appointment. I have never had a co-pay for this and don't expect one this time. They give me a ddetailed account of what was found, what that means, and all sorts of pretty photos of the situation and advise on what to eat and what not to eat. When i have the twice yearly blood work, I still go to the doctors appointment for a physical check up too. National Coffee Day!
For me, pretty much every day is National Coffee Day, so what's the big deal?
Anyway, I had a pretty good weekend. My wife Penny is still down with her cold, which she's had for a week and a half. It's just a hacking cough now, but she's still tired, probably from sleeping badly from the cough. With my Metformin dose reduced by 50%, I'm feeling good again, not dragging and sluggish. I worked on that liftoff bridge most of the weekend, and also got out for a bicycle ride, something I've been missing. Now I know I've got enough energy to ski this winter, something I've been concernced about.
Ray, do you really need a follow-up appointment after a colonoscopy? I've had a few of them, and I've never gone in for a follow up. Either they're going to say you're fine, or they're going to say you need some repairs on the plumbing, but that information can be conveyed over the phone. Maybe you'll get hit with a co-pay, too, and I'm sure your insurance will get a bill. To me, these "healthy patient" follow-ups are a waste of my time.
WEll, you probably won't see much of me this week, as I have a TON of stuff to do. I have fofrms to fill out, 5 Drs appts to go to {one for MOH}, have to see my father, and, of course whatever else comes up and to keep up with the never ending household chores!
Well, Its official! I have the cold MOH has had for a week now. I have bad sinuses, and a scratchy throat, and that 'headachy/feverish' head feeling! It was only a matter of time. MOH will take off two days this week for sick days, and has like 50 hours of sick time available to be used by year end. MOH has a big break today between clients, so can rest then, but will take wednesday adn friday off for sick days, one for the doctors appt on Firday. MOH wanted a flu shot then too, but will have to wait, they won't give it to you if you are already sick. I usually wait till mid-oct or end of Oct for flu shot. I want it to be good and ready for the long winter ahead! I myself am good on the pneumonia shot, and had the shingles shot last year, so i am set there.
