My nose does get clogged up a lot and I find my self breathing throught my mouth and not my nose. Dr sent me some nasel spray and it seemed to have helped last night.  Does adding warter to the CPAP help you breath? My manual says to use disttled warter, mine is soft water, so will that work? Did it take you awhile to get use to your CPAP?

Ken, yes if you haven't been using the humidifier, do it!  I'd use Water not warter though!  LOL  It will keep your nose passages moist which should cut down on the congestion.  You may have to play around with the humidity level to get it right.  Are you using a ResMed?  I have mine set to 4.5 for the humidity.  I think it comes set at 3.0.   My allergist says that while it is not recommended you can use tap water that has been boiled to make sure you aren't going to be breathing in bacteria.  If you use tap water you will want to wash and clean the hose every day and some other things.  For what little it costs use distilled water!  One gallon should last you close to a month.  It took me a while to find out exactly how to position myself so the pillows stay in place.  I also had to learn how to keep from opening my mouth which lets the air rush out through the mouth and then you get dry mouth (Like your tongue is cemented permanently to your lower teeth and you can't get it unstuck and can't swallow either.  I now seldom have any of those problems.  Don't hesitate to talk to your doctor and/or the company you get your supplies from either as they have dealt with all these issues many times...

I did what I was told not to do for much of the afternoon and evening....  I did fry up a Cube Steak for supper tonight, added a bagle and a large bowl of mixed fruit.  Finished the last doughnut for dessert!  I also went down and did some scenery wrok and painting today.  I did not play around with any of the exacto knives I have!  I did take a couple photos of what I have acdcdomplished for the WPF thread.  I will hope to process them and dump them on Photobucket before bedtime.

Later!

Bachmann GP 30 What decoder did you use Jeffery? Main thing I don't like about the Bachmann POS decoder (Besides bad speed control) is when it hits a grade the speed really drops! Do you think better decoder will help?

I use a Digitrax DH126.

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Please

Ray My CPAP Mask has the pillow and does not cover my mouth. Sometimes when I lay on my left side I feel like I cannot breath. Pretty sure the line is not in a bind. Last night it was fine when I was on my left side. My nose does get clogged up a lot and I find my self breathing throught my mouth and not my nose. Dr sent me some nasel spray and it seemed to have helped last night. But still all day today I felt sleepy, even while cutting the grass?

Does adding warter to the CPAP help you breath? My manual says to use disttled warter, mine is soft water, so will that work? Did it take you awhile to get use to your CPAP?

Train Front Sadly my PCM Y6 b has gone to the RIP Track. Makes a God Awfull screeching sound rather going straight or around a turn. With well over 1000 hours of run time I got my moneys worth! It is a metal to metal sound, so I am guessing broken motor mount.

Bachmann GP 30 What decoder did you use Jeffery? Main thing I don't like about the Bachmann POS decoder (Besides bad speed control) is when it hits a grade the speed really drops! Do you think better decoder will help?

Speaking of GP 30's I need to work on Shakey the N&W I got from Vinces. Light comes on, PR 7 can read the decoder. Of you shake it, sometimes it will run just fine.

 See you all later, Ken

Ray - Glad to hear the procedure went well.I've had a couple over the years, and like you, they have always found and removed some polyps. I've never been awake for one though. I forget what they call it, but one minute your awake & then your waking up & it's all over. No after effects either.

It was a busy day here. Did some laundry, 2 loads, put the sprinkler on the lawns, then mowed them later. Also washed the car & cleaned the inside some. Had to patch some concrete down by the sidewalk too. After getting a shower & shave we headed out to a restaurant we like for a fish sandwich. They have a really good one, with plenty of fish on it. Always get a box to bring some home. I promise it will be all gone by bedtime. Had to get a draft beer to wash everything down. It's the only time I drink beer. It just goes so good with a fish sandwich.

Some railfanning is on tomorrow morning's schedule according to the wife. And I'm not going to argue about that with her. Seems like a good plan & it should be a very nice to day to sit out on the lawn chairs. Hope traffic is heavy.

Have a good weekend & stay safe...

Afternoon folks!

Chloe, I need another cup of dark roast coffee to wake me up and.... Ah.... Is there any of that marble cake left over from Galaxy's Birthday yesterday?  All gone?  Oh well.  One of those Bavarian Creme donuts would do fine for now.

Got back home from the "procedure" about 12:45 this afternoon.  They were running behind.  Doc says for the most part everything looked to be in good shape.  He did remove a few more polyps.  I seem to grow them...  Hopefully they will be the benign type again.  I was awake and watched the whole thing on the TV sceen...  Kinda fasinating actually.  They docs in this practice do not out people under usually but give people just enough so you don't feel any pain.  They tell us to let them know if you are in pain and they increase the dose.  I am not to drive the car, play with #11 exacto blades, mow lawn, or cook dinner tonight.  I will obey all the rules except I plan on cooking dinner tonight!  Not eating Jello again!!!  Have to call the Gastroenterology place soon to schedule my follow up on the procedure.  He said in a few weeks, so I don't think he figures they will find anything seriously wrong with the polyps.

YGW, even if a shay could pull a car up that grade, it would be very, very unprototypical.  A regular steam boiler at that angle would expose the crown sheet and it would all go BOOM!!![/size]!!!!!

Sun has been busy shining all day today.  My son was happy to take me to the Colonoscopy today, but was lamenting using up a good fishing day to do it....  He stopped by Dunkin Dougnuts on his way to pick me up this morning so all we had to do to finally get breakfast was to turn on the coffee maker.

Catch you all later!  (I have to go see where I left that #11 excato knife....)

Phil: Good luck at the dentist.

*

Good morning. It's 80° with 56% humidity. The high will be 85° and cloudy.

The Home Health nurse called early today and has been here and gone already. She's somewhat favorably impressed with how the wound is healing. She took photos of it from several angles for my case file. It looks better after she cleaned it up this morning though it still looks like the result of a corn field meet between two high speed trains. Some parts of it are about half an inch deep while other parts look like the surface of Mars. Already had my lunch today. Two Chimichangas with mustard, ketchup and Tabasco. Looking forward to a rice dinner later.

Mailed in the payment for another year on the warranty on my air conditioner. As my mother was fond of saying, if you can't afford to replace it, insure it.

well,

I have done nohting but run all morning, and here it is now afternoon my time.

I picked up some pics developed by CVS on the old throw-away cameras. Interesting. SOme were from Strasburg Railroad, some form Steamtown form some time ago as I found those cameras "put away" and never developed. I think its been 3-4 years since we were last at Strasburg, not counting stopping by whilest in Lancaster this past summer, but they weren't doing much as it was too early. I asked for the CD and one print each. I got only the CDs. I had them print up the pics while i wiated, the manager took 10% off due to that and didn't charge me for one of the CDs. Still Over $50 for 3 CDS and 25 opics each disc.

The more important pics were of me, for example, kilt accessorisedly dressed and casually dressed. Those and the pic os our cat just to use up film, but he is SOOO CUTE, especially when "hop on Pop-Pop" {I am Pop-Pop to him}. Remember the olde Dr. Seuss book, "Hop on Pop"??? well, he likes to "hop on Pop-Pop"!! he lays on top of, I lay on my side, and he lays on the hip/outter calf that is the opposite and up. Funniest thing when he does it in bed or while I watch TV as I lay on the couch.

I did th pharmacy too, and dropped off card to pharm tech who is 2 days younger than I. Her birhtday, then, is tomorrow!

MOH is still with cold. I picked up 4 boxes of daytime cold medicine tthat you mix with hot water to make it work faster, MOH likes that kind. One pouch for day and one for night means going through A LOT of tehm soon!

I got my scripts awaiting the Drs office to call with the pain med scritps, then I have to go back out.

DID some CU/banking too.

well, I'd best eating something.

My headache is newly setting in or the old one coming back!

Good Evening!

I am back from my trip to the Fremo HOn3 group meeting. I am still overwhelmed by the hospitality those guys gave me. I even got to operate one of the trains - with all the works, train order, car cards and switch list. They also answered the million questions I had. The layout was set up in a large room in the Hannover Streetcar Museum. Seeing all those old streetcar was a bonus to a great day! I too quite a few pictures, which I will upload tomorrow. I am doggone tired now and my feet  and back are killing me!

One of the members had acquired the modules the late Wolfgang Dudler built. It was sad to see them without him being around!

Today´s conclusion is that I will build one or two modules to take to the occasional meetings, not as my "permanent" layout though. I will also convert my T-12 to DCC to be able to run it during the meetings, but that will be about all I´ll be doing in HOn3. All of the group members have separate layouts of their own - one of which cam be sen in this video.

YGW - that incline is a little steep for a Shay to pull or push a string of cars uphill. It´s a 25% grade ...

I am going to grab some food ang get a rest now!

Have a happy one!

Jeff - No raise BUT when I started this project they gave me a raise. Unexpected too. I work for some good people. When my wife passed they shut the company down and everyone came to the funeral, including many of the venders. Have a question about hot sauce - up here they sell "Lousina hot sauce " I love the stuff, better than anything else I have tasted. Do they sell it there ? What is your favorite home grown hot sauce ?

Yes, Louisiana Hot Sauce is sold here along with many others. My favorite is Tabasco brand hot sauce made right here in Louisiana.

Garry - a few pages bck I think you mentioned you were working on cars. Do you have any photos ?

Cuda - what happened on the Mopar and the garage/train layout

Ulrich - thanks for the layout. Man that thing can climb a steep grade. I wonder if a heisler can go up a model track layout that steep pulling a few cars ?

I thought today was going to be a slow day today because of yesterdays heavy rains. But it seems it is going to be busy. Site crew showed up they are digging some sanitary mains, site survey crew showed up to stke water lines, dry utilities etc..punch out company had a few guys freed up so we put them to work in the model sales office getting it ready, two site inspectors showed up requesting some stuff be fixed, dry utilities guys doing some prep work for Monday and my boss has a laundry list of stuff he needs Hmm so it looks like I will be earning my pay again. Thats a good thing. Slow days are the worst ! The day NEVER ends. minutes turn into hours. And to beat all its FRIDAY !!!

GOOD FRIDAY MORNING!

Either you run the day or the day runs you.

SOme will cheer, as Friday is here!

The headaache has eased for now. we did NOT go out for dinner last night. I didn't feel like nor did MOH. MOH left yesterday AM with the snuffles, came home with full on head cold and such that goes with it. I have to go pick up the  daytime flu med we like, and some pseudafed.

Quotable Quotes:

Confucius say:

The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential... these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.

I don't believe you have to be better than everybody else. I believe you have to be better than you ever thought you could be.

Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.

MAKE it a GREAT day!

Evenin' folks!

Well.....  Today is finally over.  I have had my fill of Jello and managed to chug down the stuff that does not nice things to the digestive tract, and am not staying close to the little room down the hall....  Have to get up at 6AM tomorrow and do the routine once again.  My son will be over as soon as he puts the girls on the School Bus to provide me with transportation to the "procedure".

Have a good night, and prayers for all of you....  I could use a few myself maybe.

Good evening. It's 75° with 79% humidity. Partly cloudy, low 65°.

My dinner consisted of two beef and bean Chimichangas with mustard, spicy ketchup and Tabasco sauce.

Today I was recollecting on how to build a powered HO Scale slug and decided I don't want to start on another one anytime soon.

Same goes for repowering an Atlas/Roco FP7 with an Athearn blue box motor. Way too much work for the average project.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Galaxy - Happy birthday. Today is also my sons birthday. Cake Happy B-Day

It also happens to be my uncle's Birthday too {my mother's sister's husband}. I was born on his birthday. Only my uncle is in his 80s. Unfortunenately he doesn't think much of me or our sharing birthdays. I was also the first boy in the line of the grandchildren, on both my parents sides.

I have been fighting a migraine all day so spent most back and forth to bed. Probably wind up there again shortly again. as the Nor'easter {as they are calling it} sneaks its way up the coast, we are supposed to get the outter rings of it, maybe that pressure system is why I fight the headache.

GOtta go call in some scripts!

Rained out at w**k, so no site stuff happening but lot of paper work, emails, calls etc to make. Sad This is the bad part about being the boss. When everyone else gets to go home and have a free day I have to stay and do paperwork ! Oh well. Lets see which stack to w**k on next?

Any that have to do with a raise for the boss? I know what that job is like. Been there.

Thanks for sharing the video.Just finished watching it. Nice little machine. That could be both fun and interesting on several levels. From the scenic aspect, non standard track, kit building etc...

Mornin'........

Zoe, Black Coffee and a bowl of Jello,  Lime Jello, please.  What?  birthday cake?  Now you know I love good birthday cake, bugt not today.  No, Ma'am, just that the doctor says I can only have Jello and clear liquids all day today....  Yep, that's right, so be nice to me.

Well, well, I see Galaxy has reached 39 (again).  All together now!  1...2...3....4,

Looks like a fairly nice day here in the Finger Lakes with something called "Partly" forecast all day.  Currently 59°F with a high this afternoon of 71°F.  Sun is out for the moment.

Couple days ago my sister from Canandaigua stopped by on her way home from getting acupuncture here in town for some back and leg pain she is having.  She says it works great so far and highly recomends it...  She has only seen "The Boys", my cats, a few times since they were little kittens.  As soon as she walked in both cats went nuts.  Snuggled up to her and started meowing and were quite obviously glad to she her.  You could see the surprise and the excitedness in their eyes.  Took for a tour of the SLOW.  She was suitably impressed at the artistic achievement of her non-artist brother!

Had a long Skype call of the Region Board last night.  Took close to 45 minutes just to figure out how to get everyone on line for it.  The call kept hanging up.  They finally got it fixed and then we had a 2 hour meeting about region stuff.  The CVonvention we are putting on next Spring was a major discussion.  I have to get seriously moving getting information out that we don't have yet.  They needed this information a month or two ago, and it will take a few more weeks to get it all done.  How do I manage to get Railroaded ionto these things???

So, Ken, what went wrong with the CPAP?  There are several of us here that use them.  I might be able to help you if you let me know what the problem was/is.  What kind of "mask" are you using? Full face? Nasal pillows?  Something else?  You are using distilled water in the humidifier I hope!  I have been using mine for about 10 months now and wouldn't be without it at this point.  They are at times a pain to get just right, but well worth it.  Lots of ways the company you got the CPAP from can help you too.  Lots of diffent things to try, so don't just live with it if it is not working right for you.  Get in touch with them to help get it right.  After the first month, your doctor will make adjustments of the pressure and ramp speed based on the data from your machine as well.

Have a great day out there, folks!

Well,

Thanks for the b-day wishes!

What did I do for my Birthday so far?

Went grocery shopping! I was swore off of buying a Cake as MOH claims to make one on sunday with fondant recipe recently acquired.

Then I went to one pharmacy by the grocery store that still has the dispoable camera-picture-making equipment. Soon to be no more. I had 3 disposable cameras to get developed. One has trains on it, and one I don't know what, and one recent with a pic of me in my kilt and stuff like the cat. Will find out what all is there tomorrow!

Then went to my regular pharmacy to pick up scripts...they ask for your name {if they don't know it} and your b-day to track down on the computer your scripts...she asked my b-day, I said "today" and gave the year. She had trouble remembering what the date today is. NAd of course I got a "happy B-day" out of her. Now had it been the regular pharmacy tech, she would have completely known my info as I am only 2 days older than she is! I have a card for her that says on the front "It took some time, but I finally found a man who can change your age... {inside shows a caveman with chisel and hammer pounding at a rock that says "Birth certificate" on it!}. I may pay for that one. As last year's b-day was one she had trouble with, besides meaning older it meant "old" to her!

well, I go back and finish sleeping as I did not sleep well last night.

EDIT: I got tippy-top, so the Cake is on me!

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
