SOme will cheer, as Friday is here!
The headaache has eased for now. we did NOT go out for dinner last night. I didn't feel like nor did MOH. MOH left yesterday AM with the snuffles, came home with full on head cold and such that goes with it. I have to go pick up the daytime flu med we like, and some pseudafed.

Hi Guys,
I just called the cardiologist and I have to go back on Oct 20th to get a monitor that I wear for 14 days. Its called a loop monitor I think. I guess the other tests came back ok for now as they didnt say anything about them.
I work today at 10:30 so will be back sometime tonight, also have to do a short 6 hour shift tomorrow. The weather is suppose to be nice all weekend also.
talk to you guys later on
Jeremy - Hope the monitors are just precautions and that they find your okay
Jeff - No raise BUT when I started this project they gave me a raise. Unexpected too. I work for some good people. When my wife passed they shut the company down and everyone came to the funeral, including many of the venders. Have a question about hot sauce - up here they sell "Lousina hot sauce " I love the stuff, better than anything else I have tasted. Do they sell it there ? What is your favorite home grown hot sauce ?
Garry - a few pages bck I think you mentioned you were working on cars. Do you have any photos ?
Cuda - what happened on the Mopar and the garage/train layout
Ulrich - thanks for the layout. Man that thing can climb a steep grade. I wonder if a heisler can go up a model track layout that steep pulling a few cars ?
I thought today was going to be a slow day today because of yesterdays heavy rains. But it seems it is going to be busy. Site crew showed up they are digging some sanitary mains, site survey crew showed up to stke water lines, dry utilities etc..punch out company had a few guys freed up so we put them to work in the model sales office getting it ready, two site inspectors showed up requesting some stuff be fixed, dry utilities guys doing some prep work for Monday and my boss has a laundry list of stuff he needs so it looks like I will be earning my pay again. Thats a good thing. Slow days are the worst ! The day NEVER ends. minutes turn into hours. And to beat all its FRIDAY !!!

Good Evening!
I am back from my trip to the Fremo HOn3 group meeting. I am still overwhelmed by the hospitality those guys gave me. I even got to operate one of the trains - with all the works, train order, car cards and switch list. They also answered the million questions I had. The layout was set up in a large room in the Hannover Streetcar Museum. Seeing all those old streetcar was a bonus to a great day! I too quite a few pictures, which I will upload tomorrow. I am doggone tired now and my feet and back are killing me!
One of the members had acquired the modules the late Wolfgang Dudler built. It was sad to see them without him being around!
Today´s conclusion is that I will build one or two modules to take to the occasional meetings, not as my "permanent" layout though. I will also convert my T-12 to DCC to be able to run it during the meetings, but that will be about all I´ll be doing in HOn3. All of the group members have separate layouts of their own - one of which cam be sen in this video.
YGW - that incline is a little steep for a Shay to pull or push a string of cars uphill. It´s a 25% grade ...
I am going to grab some food ang get a rest now!
Have a happy one!
well,
I have done nohting but run all morning, and here it is now afternoon my time.
I picked up some pics developed by CVS on the old throw-away cameras. Interesting. SOme were from Strasburg Railroad, some form Steamtown form some time ago as I found those cameras "put away" and never developed. I think its been 3-4 years since we were last at Strasburg, not counting stopping by whilest in Lancaster this past summer, but they weren't doing much as it was too early. I asked for the CD and one print each. I got only the CDs. I had them print up the pics while i wiated, the manager took 10% off due to that and didn't charge me for one of the CDs. Still Over $50 for 3 CDS and 25 opics each disc.
The more important pics were of me, for example, kilt accessorisedly dressed and casually dressed. Those and the pic os our cat just to use up film, but he is SOOO CUTE, especially when "hop on Pop-Pop" {I am Pop-Pop to him}. Remember the olde Dr. Seuss book, "Hop on Pop"??? well, he likes to "hop on Pop-Pop"!! he lays on top of, I lay on my side, and he lays on the hip/outter calf that is the opposite and up. Funniest thing when he does it in bed or while I watch TV as I lay on the couch.
I did th pharmacy too, and dropped off card to pharm tech who is 2 days younger than I. Her birhtday, then, is tomorrow!
MOH is still with cold. I picked up 4 boxes of daytime cold medicine tthat you mix with hot water to make it work faster, MOH likes that kind. One pouch for day and one for night means going through A LOT of tehm soon!
I got my scripts awaiting the Drs office to call with the pain med scritps, then I have to go back out.
DID some CU/banking too.
well, I'd best eating something.
My headache is newly setting in or the old one coming back!

Good morning. It's 80° with 56% humidity. The high will be 85° and cloudy. The Home Health nurse called early today and has been here and gone already. She's somewhat favorably impressed with how the wound is healing. She took photos of it from several angles for my case file. It looks better after she cleaned it up this morning though it still looks like the result of a corn field meet between two high speed trains. Some parts of it are about half an inch deep while other parts look like the surface of Mars. Already had my lunch today. Two Chimichangas with mustard, ketchup and Tabasco. Looking forward to a rice dinner later.Mailed in the payment for another year on the warranty on my air conditioner. As my mother was fond of saying, if you can't afford to replace it, insure it.
Afternoon folks!
Chloe, I need another cup of dark roast coffee to wake me up and.... Ah.... Is there any of that marble cake left over from Galaxy's Birthday yesterday? All gone? Oh well. One of those Bavarian Creme donuts would do fine for now.
Got back home from the "procedure" about 12:45 this afternoon. They were running behind. Doc says for the most part everything looked to be in good shape. He did remove a few more polyps. I seem to grow them... Hopefully they will be the benign type again. I was awake and watched the whole thing on the TV sceen... Kinda fasinating actually. They docs in this practice do not out people under usually but give people just enough so you don't feel any pain. They tell us to let them know if you are in pain and they increase the dose. I am not to drive the car, play with #11 exacto blades, mow lawn, or cook dinner tonight. I will obey all the rules except I plan on cooking dinner tonight! Not eating Jello again!!! Have to call the Gastroenterology place soon to schedule my follow up on the procedure. He said in a few weeks, so I don't think he figures they will find anything seriously wrong with the polyps.
YGW, even if a shay could pull a car up that grade, it would be very, very unprototypical. A regular steam boiler at that angle would expose the crown sheet and it would all go BOOM!!![/size]!!!!!
Sun has been busy shining all day today. My son was happy to take me to the Colonoscopy today, but was lamenting using up a good fishing day to do it.... He stopped by Dunkin Dougnuts on his way to pick me up this morning so all we had to do to finally get breakfast was to turn on the coffee maker.
Catch you all later! (I have to go see where I left that #11 excato knife....)

We'll get there sooner or later!
Ray - Glad to hear the procedure went well.I've had a couple over the years, and like you, they have always found and removed some polyps. I've never been awake for one though. I forget what they call it, but one minute your awake & then your waking up & it's all over. No after effects either.
It was a busy day here. Did some laundry, 2 loads, put the sprinkler on the lawns, then mowed them later. Also washed the car & cleaned the inside some. Had to patch some concrete down by the sidewalk too. After getting a shower & shave we headed out to a restaurant we like for a fish sandwich. They have a really good one, with plenty of fish on it. Always get a box to bring some home. I promise it will be all gone by bedtime. Had to get a draft beer to wash everything down. It's the only time I drink beer. It just goes so good with a fish sandwich.
Some railfanning is on tomorrow morning's schedule according to the wife. And I'm not going to argue about that with her. Seems like a good plan & it should be a very nice to day to sit out on the lawn chairs. Hope traffic is heavy.
Have a good weekend & stay safe...

Evening Dinners
Flo, Please
Ray My CPAP Mask has the pillow and does not cover my mouth. Sometimes when I lay on my left side I feel like I cannot breath. Pretty sure the line is not in a bind. Last night it was fine when I was on my left side. My nose does get clogged up a lot and I find my self breathing throught my mouth and not my nose. Dr sent me some nasel spray and it seemed to have helped last night. But still all day today I felt sleepy, even while cutting the grass?
Does adding warter to the CPAP help you breath? My manual says to use disttled warter, mine is soft water, so will that work? Did it take you awhile to get use to your CPAP?
Train Front Sadly my PCM Y6 b has gone to the RIP Track. Makes a God Awfull screeching sound rather going straight or around a turn. With well over 1000 hours of run time I got my moneys worth! It is a metal to metal sound, so I am guessing broken motor mount.
Bachmann GP 30 What decoder did you use Jeffery? Main thing I don't like about the Bachmann POS decoder (Besides bad speed control) is when it hits a grade the speed really drops! Do you think better decoder will help?
Speaking of GP 30's I need to work on Shakey the N&W I got from Vinces. Light comes on, PR 7 can read the decoder. Of you shake it, sometimes it will run just fine.
See you all later, Ken

Evening guys
Today was one of those days, lol kind of wish I told work I didnt want to come in tomorrow for six hours as its going to be beautiful outside. Oh well. Sunday is going to be nice also and I am off on Monday. I was planning on playing strat o matic tonight while watching the ball game but just feel like browsing the net and watching the game.
Talk to you guys in the morning
Evenin' folks!
Janie just a decaf and a slice of the apple pie over there with a couple slices of sharp chedder and some whipped cream on top. Thank you Ma'am!

Ken, yes if you haven't been using the humidifier, do it! I'd use Water not warter though! LOL It will keep your nose passages moist which should cut down on the congestion. You may have to play around with the humidity level to get it right. Are you using a ResMed? I have mine set to 4.5 for the humidity. I think it comes set at 3.0. My allergist says that while it is not recommended you can use tap water that has been boiled to make sure you aren't going to be breathing in bacteria. If you use tap water you will want to wash and clean the hose every day and some other things. For what little it costs use distilled water! One gallon should last you close to a month. It took me a while to find out exactly how to position myself so the pillows stay in place. I also had to learn how to keep from opening my mouth which lets the air rush out through the mouth and then you get dry mouth (Like your tongue is cemented permanently to your lower teeth and you can't get it unstuck and can't swallow either. I now seldom have any of those problems. Don't hesitate to talk to your doctor and/or the company you get your supplies from either as they have dealt with all these issues many times...
I did what I was told not to do for much of the afternoon and evening.... I did fry up a Cube Steak for supper tonight, added a bagle and a large bowl of mixed fruit. Finished the last doughnut for dessert! I also went down and did some scenery wrok and painting today. I did not play around with any of the exacto knives I have! I did take a couple photos of what I have acdcdomplished for the WPF thread. I will hope to process them and dump them on Photobucket before bedtime.
Later!
GOOD SATURDAY MORNING!
Today's agenda is a long one for mainly one thing. Pick up a floral arrangement, go the 2.25 hours to the Military cemetery to "visit" the MIL, then come back. MOH has a work meeting so we will not tarry as we go. MAYBE eat out on the way back. If there is time. Pick up floral arrangement at 8:30, then onour way to Bath, NY.
MY CPAP mask is one that covers my entire nose, and doesn't cover my mouth. It is also NOT the "two nasal pillows {one for each nostril} ONLY. It is the NOSE model Like this one:
http://1800cpap.com/images/products/detail/MirageFXforHer2_62128.jpg
There is a gel liner covered by very thin material of some sort that will "fill in the gaps" on the nose covering mask as it "seats itself" on my nose. I use a HEADBAND {a SWEAT HEAD BAND that one uses in working out} to cover my eyes and ears and HELP HOLD on the MASK RIGHT during the night, otherwise the harness behind my head slips off and the whole thing comes loose.
Now, I only use the humidifier during the winter when the air in the house is dry. Summer I don't as It just clogs my sinuses already "able to fill up" due to allergies. BUT, KEN: USE the DISTILLED water!!!! It has had "everything" distilled out of it... I once made the mistake of using tap water; in our case municipal derived from a well and chlorinated; and besides inhaling all that chlorine, I also INHALED WHAT SMELLED LIKE A SWAMP!! YOU DON'T know what "critters" could be in the water you could be inhaling, and it definitely has a stinky smell to it! SO DOES SPRING WATER {I erroneously did THAT once too in despiration for water.}. DISTILLED water will have NO SMELL OR "CRITTER" to it! The ONLY Reason I tried tap water and spring water was cuz I was at a hotel and had forgotten to pack distilled with me! BAD on boht of them. Distilled water is really cheap, and I have found different brands have diffferent levels of "Distilled-ness" and smell different.
KEN: Like RAY said:I go through about a gallon bottle a month or so during the winter. I set it on the lowest setting as otherwise I get clogged with too much water, and my asthmatic lungs can't handle the extra moisture either. It KEEPS YOU FROM GETTING DRIED out nose and lungs, so YES, use it, BUT USE DISTILLED H2O. The soft water will STILL smell like a swamp!
KEN: It will take about a month to 3 months to get "used to it". You siad you were "tired" after using it. I kept waiting for the "magic day" when I woke up "refreshed, feeling like a daisy" and "not tired at all". THAT never DID happen, so don't look for it! Just know that you WILL be getting a more deeper, less interrupted sleep when you use it! In time, you will adjust to it and WON'T BE ABLE TO SLEEP WITHOUT IT!
Well, all have a GREAT day,
I need to get going to get ready to go to the cemetery.
Hi Guys
Thought I would drop in before I go to work for only 6 hours today, mostly to help out. If I knew it was going to be this nice out today I would have said No,lol
See you guys later on tonight
Good morning. It's 67° with 97% humidity. It will be cloudy with a high of 85°.Unwrapped my foot this morning and inspected it closely. It's starting to heal. The exposed tissue (lots of that)is starting to scab over. Looking at it is somewhat like looking at a canyon. I packed it with gauze and wrapped it up. Maybe this one can heal quickly if I can keep the docs from playing in it.No plans for today.
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, Another cup of dark roast please and a couple of those glazed sour cream donuts over there please...
Sun is busy spilling all kinds of solar energy here in the Finger Lakes today. In other words it is a nice day outside. I feel a lot less stressed today for some reason. Plan on cleaning up the house a bit and working on the railroad. May bring the rest of the onions from the garden, do a bit of weeding, and drive over to the Mennonite farm stand to buy some sweet corn (which is on the list of things I shouldn't be eating with diverticulosis... Don't really care! My favorite vegetable).
Have the windows open to air out the house this morning. Outside temperature is 69°F at the moment. Will probably have to close up the house in an hour or so, maybe even turn on the air conditioner for a while as the temperature is supposed to hit 78°F this afternoon.
Hope you all have a great day!
WEll,
its just after noon here, and we just got back. MOH didn't spend much time graveside, I know MOh was close to my MIL, but...really? we drove 1 & 1/2 hours up here for less than five minutes time of putting flowers on the grave? BUT: MOH has to go into job#2 to work for an hour paid meeting at 4 pm and was worried about missing it and wanting to get back. I explained 3 days ago and again this morning that we'd have PLENTY of time.
Flowers were nice.
Ray, its making as much solar down here as it is up here and we WILL turn ont he A/c here sooner thna later too!. SInce it's not central adn tis built in thermostat doesn't work well, we will be turing it on and off all day, depending on too cool or to hot in here! Only we won't be "walking on sunshine" like you do!
Man sittting still for 1-1/2 hours in the minivan sure took its toll on my shoulders..not enough range and motion, just sitting there! cannot Wait to get something done about them! Only NOT hoping for full open rotator cuff surgery as no one we know who had it was happy with the results! Here's to hoping only for "needling and lavage" type surgery!
well time for a nap...
It´s been a surprisingly pleasant day in my neck of the woods - both in terms of our weather and what I did during the day. We had some fog this morning, but it cleared up pretty quickly, followed by a lot of sunshine and temperatures up to 19°C. Nice and calm autumn weather! I spent the morning sorting out my thoughts on my future layout. Whatever thought I have, I end up in a dead end street. It´s either the space or the money, or even both, which set strict limitations to what I can do. Maybe I want too much at a time, so I decided to step back for a while, find a new (mental) approach to the issue and see how things develop. I definitively go for continuous running! No compromise on that! Basta! Meanwhile, I will review those many plans I have made in the past - maybe there is one I can use as a basis for future plans!
In the afternoon, I went to see my friend Lothar. He has finished his tug boat (pictures will follow soon) and has spent some time completing his Z scale briefcase layout he built from leftovers I had from the big Z layout which was given to me some time ago. He fabricated a 31" by 20" "briefcase, in which he built a folded figure 8 layout, using mainly Styrofoam as a basis. It´s a toy, but so what! It looks nice and we played with it for some time while enjoying the sunshine on his patio. Next time I´ll take some pictures - I bet Galaxy is keen to see what he made out of very little! Just a hint - the layout sports a tiny engines house with the doors being opened by a little servo drive my friend built!
Well, that´s all from me today - have a happy one!
Alaska Railroad f7B with AAR trucksBachmann F7A shell on modified Proto chassis with AAR trucks.Rare, extremely hard to find all-metal Bachmann 0-6-0. Only one I've seen.
Got home showered and ordered a pizza and after that played a little PS3 for a while. I cant belive that tomorrow is the last day of the regular season in baseball. My team is the Jays and its another year of no postseason baseball. Its a little sad too because wont get to see them now until April. I guess though I can still play MLB the show on the PS3 and play strat o matic baseball where its always warm sunny and the smell of fresh cut grass.
Tomorrow I have to cut my parents lawn and then am coming home to watch the Jays game and football before going back over around 6 for dinner and a party for my 2 year old niece. The wife has to work until 5 tomorrow.
Talk to you guys sometime tomorrow
Flo, Beer please.
Galaxy ad Ray Thanks for answeing some of the questions I have about the CPAP machine. I was hoping for the Fouatin Of Youth so I am dissapointed. There is a card in the CPAP that reads what is happing at night. So maybe when (Or if) the VA has me bring it in they can tweak the thing. I will have the wife pick up some distalled water for it and give it a try that way. What has be more worried is the fact I feel sleeper now during the day than before I started using the CPAP machine.
Workout It had been 5 days with no workout. Between depression and poor sleep I was just not up to it! Tonight when I got home I would just rather gone to sleep than workout, but I did workout. It was a Killer Workout, I was pretty sure it was going to kill me! I had added weight to a couple of exercises. While I will be feeling it Sunday, it was still a good one.
Jeffery Yep the DH 163 as the BIFM what ever it is called. I never had the Bachmann GP 30 shell off so I had no clue what would fit in there. For a cheap engine, I do enjoy it. By chance, does it use a 9 pin harnnes or does it have to be hard wired?
See you all Sunday!
Janie, a cup of decaf would sure be good right now... Hmmm. Gimme one of those frosted cinnamon rolls the Mennonite lady brought in today.... Why save them just for breakfast?
Pretty much a relaxing day around here today. Other than going over to the Mennonite Farm Stand for some sweet corn (and those cinnamon rolls) I mostly worked on the layout. I have been looking for a kit of a dairy of the type that would be found with railroad connections back in 1925 or there abouts. Nothing I can find will fit the space I have for it. I then remembered a plastic kit i put together back cl;ose to 30 years ago that I hyad saved all this time. I never completely finished the kit. I was working on it about the time my wife got leukemia and died. A little rumaging around down cellar and I foud the kit. Perfect size for the place I need it but... Some parts are really yucky! I made a number a mistakes assembling it and the old kit is in need of some major work. i removed the roofs and will build new ones for it and need to bring the doors height up to the level of the rail cars. I just got more "stone" in from New England Brownstone, and the 1/8th inch pieces will do nicely for a foundation under the building. I'll get some photos as the project progresses. I am also srting to plan the next bridge project. This will be a curved bridge over the other tracks in the area I have been constructing.
Tomorrow I will be once again volunteering at the Museum. Most likely will be found being car host on Erie C-254.
About time I headed out to bed for the night! Prayers for all in need...
