Morning guys
We have a three day weekend here. Well, most of us do but I have to work. The great thing is I only work today for 4 hours so its basically a three day weekend for me. I work ealy too ( 10am-2pm ) so still have plenty of the day left. I have to cut some grass after work though, but thats is ok.
Jeff: Truck looks in great shape. Is there wany way you could have a small portable stool you can take in the truck to make it easier to get in and out? maybe mount some type of handle to it so you dont have to crouch over to pick it up once your in the truck?
Good evening. Temp is 72° but the humidity is a wet 100%. Rain chance is 50%.The nurse called this morning to let me know she was coming. I went out to start my van and absolutely nothing happened. No lights, no click, nothing. I cleaned the clamps and posts. Still nothing. Put the charger on it and it said check battery. Put a meter on the battery and it returned 0.01 volts. It was deader than three coffin nails! So I called the nurse back and asked her to pick me up at my trailer and take me down to my fathers place so she could do her job. She got the dressings changed quickly and went about her way. I then asked my father exactly what he was trying to tell me on the phone earlier about the truck. I have a weird hearing problem that scrambles up speech and sounds. I can work out what a person is saying fairly fast when I can see them. On the phone it's hit and miss many times, particularly with someone who doesn't talk above a loud mumble many times. So he explained it to me and showed me everything that had been replaced and the tune-up that had been done. I found it all to be agreeable. He wanted $500 for it so I wrote him a check for that amount and he signed the truck over to me. We'll be getting the bill of sale and title done next week then I can get the registration from my van transferred to the truck then I'll have it put on my insurance. He wasn't happy with me for tearing up part of the yard for some reason. Can't imagine why. Nothing but weeds grow in that particular area. But then one mans weeds is another mans grass. I told him it served him right for not telling me the truck had three times the power it had over a year ago. At least now I can go do my shopping and go to my doc appointments and not have to call for a ride home. That's it for today. See y'all tomorrow.

galaxyHave fun driving it to the mailbox! I know you have driven it before, but getting it as "your own" tends to have that effect on lots of people, who want any excuse to drive the new/newer vehicle. SO they will drive it to the mailbox {which you will to your fahter's unless you can walk there, but with the new truck you can drive!}, they will drive it out the end of the driveway to get the newspaper, they will repark it in the driveway, just to sit and drive.
OH, and Jeffrey,
Have fun driving it to the mailbox!

When we got the Kia, MOH wanted any excuse to drive it {it is my vehicle, but when we go any place together, we take my minivan. MOH really is the better driver {not that I am bad in any way{{only accident before this one? 1989 and it, too, wasn't my fault}} I just dont read signs as quickly and don't remember places {landmarks} as well, {and I get to look at the scenery}. I had to restrict calm and keep reminding MOH that "there will be plenty of places to go to soon enough"!!!
Have FUN!

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
PackerJeff, new truck looks pretty good. Can the step on the passenger's side be moved to the driver's side?
howmus Jeffrey, Your "new" wheels look great! I think that is a wonderful solution to your transportation problem. Hope it gives you long and dependable service! So.... Why couldn't people get there vehicles inspected on rainy days down there?
I wanted to apply back to Howmus, Cudaken, and Galaxy. I live in Tucson, Arizona and I model the wonderful world of N Scale.
I mostly model a lot of Amtrak, with a mix of BNSF, Conrail, Union Pacific and a freelance railroad called the Georgia, North Carolina, and Ohio Railway (a Class 2 railroad that works with Norfolk Southern and CSX or Southern Ry with Norfolk and Western).
My dad is driving me crazy about this DVD player we bought 3 years cuz half the time it doesn't work. We knew nothing about Blu Ray and internet connections on a VCR. I helped my neighbor pull out dead leaves and mud in a storm strainer.

Evenin' folks!
Janie, I'll have a white hot with sharp mustard and relish, and nice fresh garden salad, and a couple ears of fresh local sweet corn. Prbably a glass of lemonade would go nicely with all tha.
Jeffrey, Your "new" wheels look great! I think that is a wonderful solution to your transportation problem. Hope it gives you long and dependable service! So.... Why couldn't people get there vehicles inspected on rainy days down there? Up here we can get the inspections done in a blizzard if the place is still open... I would think your insurance shouldn't go up and might even go down a bit. The vehicle is paid for and doesn't have a loan or anything that would require anything more than justy your basic policy. I'm sure the truck is a lot safer than the rattletrap you were driving. BTW tell your good for nothing nephew you want twice what you paid for the Van! See what he says... You're highway milage on the truck should be a couple MPG higher than the in town MPG. Lots of good things about this deal! Congratulations! I was hoping something like this would happen for you!
I went down to the Credit Union early this afternoon and took out some pictures of dead presidents to give to my sister. One dollar for each of her 75 years. Figure she may not be around too many more... Signed and sealed the card and put it in the mailbox by the post office downtown. Have just about finished the article I am writing. Also put another wash of dilute stone gray on the bridge abutments. That should just about finish that part of the project. Didn't get to the lawn today, but did wash two loads of laundry between the other things.
Later!

afternoons guys
T'was pretty busy at work today. Guess that's what happens when payday rolls around...
Garry, from my standpoint there wasn't really much of a choice in getting this current Mustang. When I had my old 1990 mustang LX with a 4-cylinder, I wanted more power (The thing was rated at 98 hp from the factory). I wanted the older 5.0L V8 instead of the newer 4.6L V8, and I like the 94+ bodies. So that limited me to 1994-1995... I'm happy with the car, but I'm building a new motor for even more power (over double the factory rating). As far as these Kato superliners are concerned, the only thing missing is diaphragms. But they have a special close-coupling mechanism that draws them in closer than walthers cars.
Jeff, new truck looks pretty good. Can the step on the passenger's side be moved to the driver's side?

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
galaxyJeffrey! I don't know whether to say congrats on teh truck or not,,,, I'll explain: CIngrats, yes, but the associated costs: 1} Up here if you have time left on your registration/tags you trasnfer to the new vehicle, it's time remaining transfers too. I am not sure what, if any fee there is, as last I did was that years ago, the dealers did it on my Kia and MOH's Elantra, so all's I know is the remaining passing time left passes. But, you could be right, you could be in for a bite.
galaxyYou MIGHT save a little gas money on it, that remains to be seen, both are big nad the 92 wasn't exactly noted for sipping gas to 45 MPG. But it now means you will use it more as it won;t "leave you stranded" or getting rides around town.
galaxySee if you can't talk your father into putting a step on it for you!
galaxyOverall, I guess I SHOULD congrat you as I think it a better deal, and I hope your nephew buys your van. That should give you the extra bucks you may need. The truck looks super nice. USed to be, If I remember corrrectly, the XLT Lariat models came with al the bells and whistles. DOes It? Maybe you have some A/C and Heat to defrost on those frosty mornings? Looks GREAT. Up here to look like that, it would have had to have NOT seen winters!
galaxyIts always exciting to get a new-to-you vehicle. I know the feeling. Id like to kinda know it again, now that mine is paid for, is the best time to get the best {not much } out of it now.
There's a new law going into effect down here that deals with vehicle inspections (or what passes for a vehicle inspection here). People can now get their vehicle(s) legally inspected on rainy days. I don't agree with it but there it is.
HI all
FIrst: ANGELO! Here we talk about LIFE as it happens, good or bad and if a little MRRing gets mixed in great! Hope you stop in often, and tell us your troubles and triumphs!

At the rate MOH puts mileage on the new car for work, although paid for mileage {barely covers gas costs, really} We will be replacing IT before replacing MY KIA which is already 8.5 years old. I will keeep the kia to at least 12-15 years I think, and don't think I will have a choice with MOH's mileage on the Elantra! SInce we bought it and picked it up April 4th, put 7,500 miles on it alread! It didn't seem to matter so munh on teh old caravan, as hat engine was STRONG adn ran good and gave little trouble. Always something on it, but the inner/outer tie rod ends, mufflers, tires, alternator, sterring rack, struts, shocks, battery, all nto the engine's troubles, engine ran fine! We had it all REBUILT basically and was reliable and could have gotten probaly $1500 out of it as everything worked except a finikcky pass. power window. Instead FIL insisted we trade it in for a mere $500 junk fee. But he bought the new car so can't complain.
Nice to have a good vehicle {KIa} and a Brand New vehicle {Hyundai} ALL PAID FOR in the driveway!
SO, CONGRATS JEFFREy!

Wow! ... Jeff I like that truck. It certainly has been well caed for. 211,315 miles is just beggining to be broken in. Your father is a good guy.

Day Off Did some running, bought Sue a Track Phone card to add time to her phone. For some reason I cannot get it to take the extra time I bought for it? Bought our med's, trash run and went to the Super Market. All so bought some propane so I could BBQ. All so got the rear grass cut.
Called Bank Of Stupid! At this point I just wished they had Forclosed! I will not go into all of the details but again no one there seems to know what is going on! They should all so be renamed Bank Of India! Sure be nice to understand what the idiot on the other end of the phone was saying!
Spoke with Caitlin today (My Lawyer) She is going to keep helping till this mess is cleared up. Woman from Inda said the $1047.00 payment from ILL Hardest Hit is being held in a Patrial Payment Account, but my payment is only $843.00? But, I all so have a extra $850.00 in my Escrow account that could be used for my Aguast payment, but she could not do that? When I asked where the extra $850.00 came from she had no clue? She all said I was way behind in my Escrow account! So how was there a extra $850.00 in the account?
See you all later, BBQ is done!

I now have a 1992 Ford F150 XLT Lariat. Cost me $500 plus whatever registration fees will be due. I'll have firefighter plate/registration transferred from my van to the truck. My father recently had all the electronics replaced. It runs MUCH better than it did a year ago and has a lot more power than it did then. He might have warned me. I gave it the gas like I had to before just to get it moving. I tore up about thirty feet of his yard and almost ran over a little Mercury Tracer he has parked out there. That old truck has lots of power now and everything appears to be working right. I hope I'm there when my nephew asks my father if he can use it again. I've just got to see the look on his face when he hears 'Sorry. I don't have it anymore. I sold it to your uncle'. The look on his face should be worth a million bucks! He won't be using it as long as I have it. I picked up a bill of sale today. Next week we'll take it to a notary and have the title transferred to me.The telescope arrived this morning. I looked it over. The telescope itself is fine. The tripod however leaves a lot to be desired. It's very light and spindly. It looks like it'll fall over if I sneezed on it. That's OK. I have a big heavy Velbon tripod that was made to support a rather heavy video camera. The mount on it is identical to that on the flimsy plastic tripod.I drove the truck into town this afternoon. I paid on my loan then when to Wal-Mart to do some shopping. Felt good to do that and not have to call for a ride home.
yougottawantaJeff - Can you drive the truck easier than the van ?
Well, I am well into building baseboards for my new railroad - The Sunset and North Eastern but plans went awry today as I had a steroid injection in my knee so resting up. Weather here in Ipswich UK is phenominal - hot as ****. Our apartment faces west and is on the 4th floor (5th to you lot over there) and the sun is making the living room unbearable. But should i complain?
No!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of organice granola with skim milk and stevia to go along with a cup of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Rost coffee in my R&GV RR Mug please.
I like the new digs! So.... Where are we? Did we relocate North of the Border?
Angelo welcome to the diner! Always good to see a new face in here. Sit and tell us a bit about yourself. Where you are located on the planet, what scale and period you model, and other stuff like that. This is a nice friendly place to hang out in!
Sun is trying to shine here in the Finger Lakes. Currently 77°F going up to 81°F this afternoon. I have to run a couple errands this morning, then will mow some lawn. Also hope to finish the article I have been writing and put one more wash of stain on the stone bridge abutments. Aftger that is dry, probably tomorrow, I can assemble the parts together and finsh fabricating some odds and ends needed for it. Early next week it should be glued in place on the layout and I can finish the "Fill" leading up to it.
Oh! here is what the abutments look like at the moment...
Hi Guys
About to head out to work soon. If I get out tonight on time ( 7pm ) I may try to make it over to the hobby shop to pick up my walthers order before he closes for the night. If I cant make it tonight I will have to go sunday.
Talk to you guys tonight sometime
Good morning. It's 74° with 100% humidity. The high will be 82°, cloudy with a fair chance of showers and thunderstorms. with Got a call from my father this morning. He has an idea of how to save some money on my transportation problem. Instead of me paying $500 for an engine for my van and him paying to have it installed he's come up with something to save (him) money. For $500 he'll 'give' me his truck. He just had the electronics on the engine replaced and it's running good now he says. I haven't driven it since last year. Back then the throttle had an electrical problem and acted like it had a mind of it's own. This deal of his has me giving him $500 which I have, I get it transferred to my insurance, I pay the registration fees and he pays to have the tanks filled. I get a vehicle and he pays as little as possible. That's my father for you. Guess I can't complain. Where else could I get a 1992 full-size pickup in running condition for $500 with no transport fees? My nephew has said many times he wants my van. Maybe I should sell it to him for what I paid for it.Plans for today. I have none. Right now I'm waiting on the Home Health nurse to call.Looks like my telescope will arrive today. It was in Alexandria this morning and is now on a FedEx vehicle for delivery. In many places that would be great news. Here FedEx is almost like a bad joke. I much prefer UPS or USPS but I didn't have the choice this time.Weather today looks wet. It's been raining off and on this morning since around 2am.
Looks like Ulrich's link to the July Diner didn't work. Let's see if I can get one to work. The July Diner can be found HERE.
Angellob6660 .... Welcome to the Diner.
Ulrich ... Thanks for moving the Diner. Enjoy the weekend.
YGW ... I saw your post a couple of days ago in July Diner. .... Glad your life is positive now.
Vincent ... Glad the passenger cars run well. Also, I think you are wise to keep your older car running as long as you can. That's a lot of miles, but it shows you take good care of the car.
Let's try to have a cheerful month of August in the Diner.
Happy Model Railroading.
First time in the diner and hope to continue.
Wake up at 5 this morning to walk the dog, but it's raining gotta wait and get my mom ready for her medical/CPR class today.
TGIF and good morning guys
Sorry I haven't been in here lately. Just busy with other things.
I'm glad it's friday, I get paid, I'm off tomorrow, and work shouldn't be as slow as it has been.
I tested those Kato superliners at the local MRR club, they preformed flawlessly being pulled. I can even push them backwards around the layout with few issues (although I doubt commuter trains are 7 cars long. The Con-Cor MHC does give me some fits. Luckily 1 person at the train club is buying the sound-equipped Gp20 I'm selling, and the money I'll use to buy another member's brass MHC. I've also snagged 3 more kato superlined for cheap. I got two in the low 30 dollar range, and another for $14. All brand new.
in other news my car hit 242k miles. Still runs strong. I'm going to get the AC system charged in a few days (I zip-tied the new line away from the header), and as soon as my father picks up the cobra spare from a friend of his in Pensacola, I'll upgrade my brakes (my existing spare won't clear the new brakes I'm gonna use).
Well, it's Friday. The weather is pleasant, but it might get warmer and we might get some rain sometime. Pardon my lack of specificity, but this is New England, after all.
A less-than-perfect weekend is on tap, so I hope to get some time to work on that truss bridge again. I have to deal with some of life's "procedural" things that take time but produce no value, too.
Somebody was asking about MR. My issue arrived in the mail yesterday.

I am in much pain again, and have PT EARLY this Morning!
so off for more hurting.
Then off to meet MOH at the hospital to find out more about MoH's bone disease! That in itself is a long walk to get there!
Want to know what we cnan do for MOH.

Good Morning and welcome to this month´s Diner at its new location for the month of August!
Let´s share another month of MRRing fun, friendship and good food- served by Cuz´Vinnie and the girls!
A trail of bread crumbs to the July Diner is here!
I´ll be gone for a couple days - friends of ours have invited us to spend the weekend at the beach with them. This will hopefully bring back my spirit, as it is still way too hot here.
Have a good time and make it a great weekend!
