Whistling

Hi Gang,

Although there doesn't seem to be anybody around this afternoon.

Well I have been working on our Fifth wheel and it has just got too hot out there to stay at it any longer, so I think i'll head to the train room and cool off.

I needed a through truss bridge, I had a european looking one that was curved at the top and I had a double track truss bridge that I didn't have the width for, so I went and bought a single track one from Walthers and now I am in another quandry and that is I think I like the look of the curved top one the best. Decisions, decisions.

Sure hope Garry's BIL is doing OK, I am sure he will let us know later on tonight.

What are you all doing this afternoon that I am the only one in the Diner, I think all the girls are sitting out back in the shade and sipping mint julips.  Vinnie has probably gone fishing.

Whatever you are doing I hope you are having a great day.

Will try and stop back later.

Keep smiling.

Hi Guys,

I only work half a day today ( 3-7). I had a apoiuntment this morning and we found out the wifes grandmother passed earlier this morning. We knew it was coming but still sad. I have to get some stuff done but will check back in later on tonight.

Good morning model railroaders!

Zoe, I'll start off with a cup of the coffee Jeffrey is pouring, and a couple sour cream glazed doughnuts to dunk in it.  Thank you Ma'am!

Overcast day so far here in the Finger lakes.  Some showers may be showing up late this afternoon.  I'm taking a break from the numerous odds and ends I have already been attending to this morning to get some good breakfast here in the diner.

Had an agrevating day out at the Museum yesterday.  They were running the schedule wrong for the track cars.  We had the same problem early in the season and it was supposedly taken care of by the "powers that be" out there.  On Sundays the track cars are supposed to bring the first load of guests down to the RR Museum and then head right back to Midway Station to wait for the next load.  They bring them down to Industry Station, pick up the first group and head right back to Midway to wait for the trolley.  Yesterday they were using the "weekday" schedule which is to bring guests down to Industry, wait 15 minutes, then have them get back on the trackcars and go back North...  I got quite , ah, grouchy about the situation and made my feeling known as did some others working out there.  So this morning there has been several emails being exchanged trying to get whatever happened yesterday not to happen again.  We have a published TT for operations, and I guess the "Officer of the Day" just interpreted it wrong.  Stuff happens....

I'm also trying to get a meeting scheduled for all the Committee people for the upcoming Mortimer Junction Convention the NMRA Division is putting on next April.  Deadlines, dealines, deadlines!  I think this will go well and hopefully the division will have fun with it.

I best get going.  I have a bunch of phone calls to make, errands to run, and models to build!  Have a great day out there!

Morning all.  French toast would be good.  Well, I work today, and am off Tues, Thursday and Friday. It's gonna be a kinda lousy paycheck, but what can ya do?  Yesterday found me playing with my trains on the club's modules, and makes me what to build one designed as an outdoor railroad museum.  Not sure what this  day has in store for me besides work, so yeah we will see.  Have a good day everyone.

(My Model Railroad, My Rules)

These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway.  As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).

Good evening. It's 76° with 99% humidity. In so many words, 'WET'. Kind of peaceful without the phone today, then again it was Sunday. I ordered two replacements. A Magicjack Plus and a Google Voice GVMate Phone Adapter. I'll try them both and see which one works best. The GVMate evidently uses Google Voice's subscription free phone service with any regular phone to provide a featured landline style calling experience including optional E911 emergency calling and CNAM national LIDB database caller name lookup services. It should be here no later than the 14th so it'll be the first to be tested. Went to town today and filled the front tank on the truck. $45.05 then went down the street and got a Domino's medium thin crisp c rust Meatzza pizza which I munched on for the rest of the day.

Time for me to call it a day. See y'all tomorrow

 Evening Dinners

Flo, Beer for my self and Motely! Beer

Boy What A Day! We where busy, I have no idea how much we did. Just to busy to look. I was Nancy Go To Person which suckes. Most of the time she has no clue what the mattress real name is, what the SKU is and it's real is prices! Worst part, she does not remember what she told the customer the price was? Hmm She will start a ticket and just write Mattress then the customer has to show me what they want? Makes for a Fun Day! Bang Head

We close at 5:00 today yet the customers kept coming and coming. We turn off the front lights as a hint we are closed but that did not stop them. With Nancy being there she kept helping them. I was out side smoking at 5:35 PM and yet another customer pull up. I was nice and told them we closed at 5:00. Paul and his wife Ronda where in the Van heading home. Paul Gave Me The Death Glare and started to say something, then went ahead and left. We still had 2 coustomers in the store I will add.

Paul Lives a whole 5 minutes from the store and he was leaving. I on the other hand live 45 minutes from the store. Paul all so knows I will stay late to get a deal. Last Sunday I started to work with a customer at 4:30 and did not get the deal till 5:30. A good sale, takes about a hour, but 30 minutes after we close is just to plain late to start! If we really want coustmers to come in after closing, why does Paul have us turning off lights 15 mintues before we close? Whistling

All the way home I have be wondering if I will get a Rash Monday about this. If he does bring it up, well I will try to not speak my mind. But if his happy Caboose was not sitting in his Van for the whole 5 mintue drive home, he would not have knowen I told a customer we closed at 5:00! Angry

By the way, I had plans. Did not get home till 6:30 and my friends had left by then.

I'm without phone service this morning. Started the computer and the Magicjack didn't come up. Tried bringing it up several more times without success. So it was off to eBay to find a new one. Found one for $34.95. It should be here on or before Aug 18.

No plans for today.

Hi Guys

Ken: 80 sounds a little high for a mountain bike. I keep mine around 35- 40 PSI because I sometimes go offroad. But with lower PSI you increase your chances for a pinch flat. If you are just going to stay on say the road or a paved bike path ( or loose gravel type ) Id wouldnt go higher then 45-50 PSI. It should also say on the sidewall of the tire. My max pressure on tires are 65 but never go that high.

All this bike talk makes me want to get back out, lol. I cant believe it has been a month since I was out. I went out alot back in May and June so did get alot in.

jeffrey-wimberly

Good evening.

JEFF,  how come the kids don't like your playground ?  I never see anyone playing there.

Oh, darn, sorry Terry and others,I shouldn't have been so negative about the playground.  Lol.

Well, I have had a good day here. I did have to w--k for 4.5 hours, but that went well,  saw some folks I had not seen in a while. The weather was good after a very strong storm last night, but was fortunate that we had no damage in our area. But 30 miles south and 11 miles east got tore up pretty bad.  No not a toronado, but a plow wind. Blew some roofs off houses and set them on the neighbor's acroos the street, lots of damaged trees and damaged caused by trees. So I consider us very lucky.

FLIP and I are Cancer free, even though there are some lingering side effects, that is GREAT NEWS. WE are survivors......... BTW, I see all the Doctors again this coming Thursday about how they will proceed from this point...  Fill you in then.

I did get my coal train put together.  I finally got the second set of six Walthers coal hoppers for the Western Pacific,  all different road numbers( 12) and I have three hoppers wearing DRG&W livery. It makes a nice unit train. ( 15 ) Now have to concentrate on getting loads for them.  The little campground is coming along and looking good, but I am not satisfied with the gravel road there. I used play sand from home depot, don't know whether I should sift it first or try to cover it with some fine ballast. Right now I feel it is too coarse.

We still have our two dogs and for the last couple of months have been looking after my youngest Son's dog (Freud) from Billings while they are looking for neww accomodation and he is changing jobs at the same time.  Freud and I just had a good 1/2 mile walk, does us both good. My wife had walked the two little mutts earlier.

I am still doing repairs as well to our fifth wheel that had a bad time over the winter and got water into the front bedroom.  I thought this was going to be pretty simple fix but it has become a real can of worms.  With my limited stamina I'll probably be at it until winter sets in again. Oh well lets me feel like I am camping without leaving the driveway.  Ha Ha.

Well it is time to hit the pillow as I have to work again tomorrow.
Prayers for Garry's in law with that surgery tomorrow, and anyone else in need.
Everybody keep smiling cuz it sure looks good on ya.    Big Smile
MIAs please stop by and post,  you guys and Sue. as well are sure missed here.

Evening guys

Went out to a local pizza joint/bar to try to catch the Packer's pre-season game. They only had the Browns/Lions game :(

Trainclub was about the same as tuesday. But I did notice the more I used the Superliners, the less they uncoupled. I though parking them on tight curve might be causing the couplers and swing-arms some kind of stress where they get stuck or something. So I found a straight and empty track in a passenger station and parked them there. Tuesday I'll find out if it helps. Another member suggested #4 couplers mounted to the swing arm with a double-ought 80 (00-80?) screw. I'll try that if it still acts up.

Ken, I know mountain bike's tires take more PSI than a car tire, but I think mine was around 50-60 psi.

Garry, IDK if you have tried using the F0 or F8 functions for that locomotive. I've done that with 1 engine I installed sound in, tried to figure out if I did anything wrong, then realize the sound and lights were off.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, I could really use a cup of deacf to finish off the evening.  Thank you Ma'am!

What?  Hey, I try to be cheerful most of time in here!  After all, I'm a Scout Leader.  "A Scout is Cheerfull".  I also try to be a good ear for folks when they are having a bad day.....

Tonight I did the 3rd. first final draft of the article I am trying to write.  Also trying to get a final date for a NMRA Officers meeting we need to have soon as we are very behind schedule for next years Region Convention we are putting on.

Oh, My son and I got the new horns installed in the Prius Plug In I own today.  Once I figured a couple things out the install went smootly.  Now it goes HONK! HONK! instead of meep, meep....  Not nearly as good as the air horns I had on my old 1960 VW bug way back when, but definately an improvement.

Not sure whether I will be going out to the Museum tomorrow or not.  I may jasut go out and see if they need help with the Museum Guides and if not, just hang around for a while.  My DIL's Aunt has a birthday tomorrow so I will be going out to my son's house for dinner tomorrow.

Have a great night and prayers for all in need!

Terry ... Good to see you. I sent you a PM.

In my first post of the month I asked people to try to have a cheerful month. Nobody asked me why I said that. Suffice it to say we don't want this to be Elliot's Downer.

I think it is good to be friends and encourage each other when needed, However, there should at least be some balance where good news offsets bad news. We don't need to re-hash old personal problems over and over. Also, we should include model railroad subjects in our posts.

Again, I am thankful for kind words because my BIL is in the hospital. Doctors have decided not to wait until Monday. Now we are told four arteries have blockage of at least 96%. Surgery will start very, very early in the morning. I have faith prayers will be answerred, and he will be fine.

I have good news too. In a couple of weeks my family will be with my mother to celebrate her 95th birthday. Yay!

More good news, one of our 3 daughters is about to be married in September. This is her second marraige, and we like the guy. Good things are happening with them.

Regarding model railroads. .... I'm frustrated with 2 engines in which I just installed decoders. They do not work right.  It will take time to de-bug. I also did a small amount of tracklaying today.

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Pleases.

Terry You are right to a degree. Most of us are friends that will never meet faces to faces. When we have things not right in are lives, we talk to our freinds about it. So there is some belley aching here at the dinner. There are some good things as well! Take my self, I am working out and feeling a little better. I have a job I like and good at. I all so talk about some bad, like when I have a bad day or week at work. Then there was the 3 year battle with Bank Of Stupid!  Lot of us here have health problems. So there is a lot of neagtive stuff said about that.

My Day Well work went pretty good, we had 3 people working the sales floor and I was highest in sales. If I did the math right, I made $155.00 in spiff's. Nancy, one of the owners paid me a good complament. She said " You are very good with the customers and they seem to really like you". Hum, glad she has not seen the ones I piss off! Whistling I have PO my fair share, mainly because I tell them the truth, not what they want to hear. No Mam, that $300.00 Queen set will not help your back pain! You be better off to buy a used one off Craigs list.

Health Front Not so good today! Started feeling a little Lite Headed when I got to work. I tried the trick of drinking a little salt water. (Was to busy running to pick up the Sodium Supplment yesterday) My left arm that I had the hand surgery on and got in the posion plant in the backyard swelled up like a Blow Fish! Sure not drinking salt water again! Felt better latter in the day. On the drive home, I started feeling lite headed again. So now work out tonight and I was dissapointed! Did take Sparkie The Rocket Dog on a brisk 1/4 mile walk to make up for it.

Jemery Thanks for the tip on the Moutain Bike intertube. Going to try airing them up first. Does 80 PSI sound right to you?

Running the trains right now, have 4 trains running at the same time on 2 main lines. When it is in a good mood, I love trains!

 See you all Sunday.

Ken and Sparkie the Rocket Dog!

Hi, Garry.

Cuda Ken was asking for the spelling of the great big knife used to cut through the jungle. Hence my reply.

I miss Bill T's coffee cup, Cape Jim and MANY others. Occasionally, it is asked where are the mia's. It is no longer Elliot's Track side Diner. It is someone else's. My two cents.

Get over it.

When I went for the third time application for SSD, going before an Administrative Law Judge for my case, he sat there with a 5 inch thick folder of medical records for me! He told my {free, non-lawyer representative} he had no problems with my case and approved my disability based on my medical records, and a few questions/answers from me. This should have beeen approved 4 years earlier, but they usually automatically disapprove all first time applicants as a matter of course. Appeals got me to the Judge.

I hear it on the appeals! My SSI case was thrown out when it initially went up for approval. The judge was saying he needed some questions answered. I'd already fielded those questons and supplied answers to same. My physical and mental problems are very well documented. For those who were asleep at the switch any of the half dozen times I've covered it I have aphasia. It's complete and total. Both my hearing and speech are effected. I spent nine years in speceal schools because of it.

YGW: In addittion to the info there, if you don't find it in there, I have SSDI and Medicare, Jeffrey has SSI, and Medicaid.

My SSDI is based on my work history when I could work {salaries/earnings total or top 30 years earnings which I did not quite reach} up to the point of my disability, much like regular SS would be calculated for those who can take it at 62, 67 or 70, depending on their age group/desire. In addition I get Medicare as primary medical insurance, though they only pay 80% of "approved Medicare proceedures". I pay out a {rather high monthly} premium to have secondary supplemental insurance to cover what "approved Medicare Proceedures" Medicare payments do not cover.

IF, they continue the program when the trust fund runs out, I will get SSDI until I turn 62, at which time it becomes standard SS for me,and my medicare 80% coverage will continue. Unless they change the rules by the time I get there.

The SSDI trust fund is due to supposedly run out sometime soon.

There are those able-bodied individuals who play the system aand are draining the fund.

FOR people like me, who can hardly even move in the morning and have to wait 1/2-1 hour for pain meds/muscle relaxers to kick in to even use the facilities or get breakfast, or people like Jeffrey, who is now having body parts amputated, we NEED it, but I may luck out if the trust fund depletes, and Jeffrey may still win out with his SSI. By day's end I am back in about the same condition just from living life. I have trouble with physical things as well as documented mental issues. The physicals are winning out now. It is a 3/10ths mile walk on the flat road to the mailbox, some days it is a struggle to walk thre to get the mail and I have been known to DRIVE to the mailbox!  I am lucky to get household chores done {my "job" as MOH works}. I am in pain sitting here now typing this. Of course, then again it is now time for another strong pain med. So I'd best go take it.

I can't say much mroe as it could turn political!

Now to got atke that med and MOH will be home shortly...

Saturday morning.  Nice day, too, and it will be for a few days.

Jeremy, we've lost a number of fish for various reasons.  Actually, we've lost all of the fish, since we have no more of them.  One just got very old and he was probably overfed as well.  One died the day after we found a fly floating in his bowl.  We had a group of 3 that I think died because it was very hot and we don't have a temperature-controlled tank.

I did something very stupid yesterday.  My car came up for it's 10,000 mile checkup, so I made an appointment for Saturday morning and loaded my bike in the car Friday afternoon, planning to drive over and drop off the car so it would be there first thing.  As I backed out of the garage....I had left the rear passenger side door open, and I hit the garage door frame.  Now, I've got the car door bungeed sort-of closed, and it will have to go to the body shop first thing Monday morning.  The night before, oddly, I'd had a dream about a truck hitting my right-side car door.

Garry, after a while your BIL will feel great.  If it's like my rotator cuff surgery, his worst memory will be of the hospital food.

Morning all.  Work today at 9AM so I can;t stay long. My "check engine light" came on yesterday after work, but it was extremely humid all day, and the humidity has been fluxuating all week (rainy and humid one day, dry and cold, cold and rainy, etc).  I asked a car mechanic about it and she said "As long as the light is not flashing and the car is driving fine, you can drive on it".  But I did get it scheduled for next week-need the oil changed as well.  I drive maybe 4 miles a day, possibly up to 20 on sunday so yeah.

Well tomorrow will make up for it-12 hours or so with my model railroad club taking the modules out to a fair called the "Ceder Creek Funfest", plus I get to run my entire Wheeling train, Possibly my Pennsy Passenger train with the T1 on it, and who know what else.  Plus I get to meet a guy who is building a FULL SCALE caboose to put on his property.  He may also POSSIBLY let me get into the former Crown metal shops (the one who built all the amusement park actual steam locomotives).  Have a great day all

Your attitude is like a box of crayons that color your world. Constantly color your picture gray, and your picture will always be bleak. Try adding some bright colors to the picture by including humor, and your picture begins to lighten up.

Who had a profound intuition;
A smart operation
Called multiplication
Would speed up the task of addition.
