Howmus - thanks for the "absoluetly" and the following qoute.  It always gladdens my heart to hear verses qouted. It is like a cool drink of water on a hot and thristy day.  My Pastor has always said "there is a broken heart behind every door" the older I get the truer I find these words to be. Everyone has some burden that causes heartache or pain and suffering. For some it is family, others illness, loss of jobs, finances , wayward children, drug dependence.......... I am thankful that I an known by God and that he loves me so much he even knows as scripture states "the number of hairs on my head" I do not know how I could have survived past difficulties and life challenges with out my God and the support of my "new testament" church. There were 53 people who helped in some way while my wife was dying. Some gave money, time, food etc... but the ones who touched me the most were the ones who sat with me and shed tears and those that did something nice for my children to ease their pain for just a little while, while they suffered through the loss of their mother. Helping and loving on my children in the midst of their suffering touched my to my core. It has made more compassionate , giving and loving others as my God loves us.

Enjoy your day. Lunch time is over and must get back to w**k

Mornin' everyone...

Zoe, just another refill on my dark roast coffee, please.

"It's another rainy day, Just a rainy, rainy day....." Dark and gloomy here in the Finger lakes today.  We got 3/4" of rainyness over night and could get another half inch or so today complete with some thunderboomers and high wind at times and in places...  Currently 63°F with a high of 64°F later and under a Flash Flood Warning...

Speaking of "Dark and Gloomy", some heavy stuff here today...  That is one reason we are here for each other... YGW, absolutely!  Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart!  The real question is, "What are we doing for others?"  I am amazed that some in here who have the most weight of the world on their shoulders still find time to help others.  I might add that "Others" should include all people, everywhere. Wink

I have a few errands I need to run before the weather gets really bad this afternoon...  So I hope to catch up to you all later!

Jeff, Cuda - If I may I would like to suggest that you read something - It is Phillipians 4:8 ( you can google it ) but both of you arte going through a really rough patch right now. My prayers go out to you and up to the one (no not our current president ) who set the stars in the sky. In my darkest hours as my wife lay dyng from cancer and I had two young girls who despertely needed a mother that I now had to be both a mother and a father to I would become overwhemled and suffer panic attacks, severe depression, nightmares etc...I would read Phillipians 4:8 and it would restore me. I hope it helps you too.

I'll look that up. Depression, panic attacks, nightmares, I know about all three. Been there and done that. Anybody who knows about diabetes, meningitis and progressive nerve damage has some clue as to what I live with every day. I know there are others with much worse and I wish them well.

I have an understanding, Jeffrey. My mother had MS{Multiple Sclerosis}, and I grew up with it as she was diagnosed when I was a mere 2 years old. She successfully carried and had my only brother two years later, but at that time, there was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING they could do for MS. The Dr. ACTUALLY told her "go home, lay down and wait to die is about all you can do. AND DON'T TELL your insuracnce company {health and life} you have it. They will drop you if you do." That was mid 60s, now there is things they can do, but not all health insurances {well maybe now with obamacare} will help.

I slowly watched her lose the use of her legs-first the left, then ther right, then her left arm, her right arm, her speach and vision, over time. I had to, by the time we got the first wheelchair I had to run the household, taking her role, without a doubt. I had been doing it already for a few years form a learning experience, but there was no doubt now. SHe spent half her 59 years in a wheelchair, the last 5 years unable to speak coherently and was totatlly ephasic, unable to see much and a virtual prison to her body and disease.

I watched, sure , but didn't experience like you do, so I have an understanding, and an appreciation, but can't say I have experienced it. However, I have my own prison within my head in my mental illness {depression, mania, panic and anxiety disorders {{you should see me in an elevator and unfortunately I HAVE to use them}}, ocassiona psychotic episodes, etc} and a prisoner to my painful medical issues too. I had 20 listed medical conditions. and 28 listed prescriptions to control/help those conditions. None are as "deadly" as yours are becoming Jeffrey, but again I have an understanding.

I have PT this afternoon and was in agony all weekened, Tooka  musce relaxer this mornign and will go back to bed soon to fisnish sleeping it off. Its a late PT appt.

Later all

HAVE A *BRILLIANT* day!

Ulrich - Read your post at teh bottom of teh page. We all feel regret. BUT one day when the kids are grown and they are doing well, you can thank God that you have done your job well. Ultimately their success is all that we have to pass on, on this earth. My friend if you have done that and it sound like you have ( I read your heart felt sentiments on your son ) then you have nothing to regret and you can hold your head up high ! Well done !

Been a very busy weekend. In preperation for the marriage day we have been moving GF stuff into my house only leaving her bed and TV at her house. Phew extremely tired ! Gotta get to w**k and march on. Prayers to all those in need.

Jeff,

Sad to see that you are considering tearing down the layout. Like you said it could be a while before you makes that choice so who knows, maybe you will re consider.

Short day at work today ( 12:30-7) which is okay as Im still not feeling 100%.Its pouring rain at the moment so any hopes I had of cutting the grass are gone and it will most likely have to wait now until Thursday when Im off again.

Talk to you guys tonight sometime.

Good morning.  It didn't start off well.  Mister Coffee has gone to the great Starbucks in the sky.  When I got down to the kitchen this morning, the light was on, but the pot was cold and the water was still in the reservoir.  It's not a very old machine, but it gets used every day so I figure it's done a thousand pots or so.  I may take lunch and go get another one, because the roads over there are a nightmare after work.

Jeff, I'm sorry to hear of your decision.  I'd suggesting keeping a basic core of trains - power and a few locomotives and cars.  Put them in a box for the future.  Another opportunity may arise for you, and you'll be glad to have them.

The Tour de France is over, so I'll have more time myself.  We've watched most of the stages.  Since they start in the morning in France, we record them and then watch over dinner, with the remote handy to skip the commercials.  I watched 3 hours worth in 2 hours.  Yes, it's that bad.  It was one of the most interesting Tours in years, with early crashes taking out two of the favorites, opening up the competition and bringing forward some new faces.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Good morning. It's 76° with 99% humidity. It'll be cloudy with a less than fair chance of showers and thunderstorms. The high will be 94°.
 with

Today I'll be waiting on the Home Health nurse to call. The wound vac is out of the picture until a doc does a reevaluation. Standard wet to dry dressings are being used now and those have to be changed every day. The nurse will change them on Monday and Friday. I'll change them Tuesday thru Thursday and Saturday and Sunday.

On tearing the layout down, that'll probably be done when I feel up to it. When that will be I don't know. Right now just moving causes pain and I'm not going to do anything that requires pushing, pulling or lifting if I can help it. It could be next month or next year but eventually it'll happen unless something changes that allows me to be able to work on it again. Right now I just can't see what that could be.

Outside of getting the dressings on my foot changed I have no plans. The site of the latest toe amputation appears to be healing very well. I don't know yet when the stitches will be taken out. They've been in for just over a week now.

GOOD MONDAY MORNING!

It's July 28th, 2014!

Positve energy towards

those in need

Quotable Quotes:

Read this one carefully:

No one means all he says, and yet very few say all they mean, for words are slippery and thought is viscous. -Henry Brooks Adams, historian (1838-1918)

If you're not making mistakes, then you're not doing anything. I'm positive that a doer makes mistakes.

We should all heed this one:

I do believe we're all connected. I do believe in positive energy. I do believe in the power of prayer. I do believe in putting good out into the world. And I believe in taking care of each other.

Good Morning!

Another damp and hot day and no improvement in sight! The moment you step out of the shower you are all sweaty again - yuck!

This place looks deserted! The list of long-term MIA´s is getting longer and longer each day. Ken made his way back, and I am glad he did. Some of the regular patrons seem to have changed habits and only drop by now and then. If this continues, Cousin Vinnie may have to close the place.

I miss Chris´s witty stories about THAT editor, DerJohn´s pictures of the miracles he performs in N scale, Todd´s Chinese epics, CapeJim´s friendship he shows in his posts, Rob´s struggle with his farm. I miss reading about the others whom I have not mentioned. It has become a very important part of my life to share the moments of joy, but also grief with you. Some of us are fighting illnesses, and I have a perfect understanding that this is more important than coming here to share the day, but it leaves me worried, because I care.

Please come back!

Jeff - this is a mighty hard decision to take. I know the Apple business will keep you busy, but you know - once a model railroader, always a model railroader! Take care, pal!

Good evening. At 86° and 71% humidity it's a warm but damp evening out there. The sky is very clear, hardly a cloud anywhere to be seen. The constellations are bright and more than ever I wish I had a telescope. I've been thinking about the future of my modeling today and I've come to a decision. It's very difficult for me to work on the layout anymore so when I feel up to it I'm going to tear it down. It's serving no purpose other than to remind me of things I can't do anymore.

 Evening Dinners!

 Flo, Beer pleases

Work Front, Some times life is like a Septic Tank! Hmm Yep that covers work today!

Work Out Front I am pushing my self to hard and getting pound crazy! Bang Head Form is getting bad and movments are a tad to fast. I am dropping weight on all movements and rasing reps to between 16 and 8 for 4 sets. I been watching this guy tips and as I said before I agree.

 http://scoobysworkshop.com/

One of the things I know he is right on is core strenght. Strong arms and weak back is not a good thing. One of the things he said for begainers to do is pretty much a Grass Drill. Man I hated them when I was in the Army, but if you hate doing them, more than likely you need to.

BoS Never listen to my wife on important stuff! When she brought out the letter from my Lawyer I had just got done working out. I was tired and did not want to read all the stuff till Sunday. So she read parts of the paper work that she thought was important! Whistling First was the part where the Lawyer was done helping us because we got the new loan, OK that I understood. Then they want me to pick up a check for $2024.00 from them from the escrow account I had been paying into. Again, I knew that!

Then she read me the letter that was sent to the Laywer that my payment was now $953.00 a Month! That just total deystored me mentaly! Sad I just did not want to deal with it any longer, I was done!

Today, I made my self look at the paper work. Whistling Yep, there it was, a $953.00 house payment! But, then I noticed it was dated before the New Loan Went Into Effect and the Princentpal (Spell Check) was higher than what the new loan states it is!

So bottom line, payment is still $843.00 dollars. Not that I am not still worried about being able to make it every month.

 Later, Ken

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have the #2 special, eggs over easy, bacon, home fries, and a double order of the sour dough toast please.  Oh, I will also need a cup of dark roast coffee to wake me up this morning.

Slept in late this morning....  Felt good.  Blackie even had to wait a bit for his morning meds. Right now the sun is shining outside and the current temp is 76°F with a high of 82°F this afternoon.  It will be alternating sun and clouds according to the forecast.

I shall spend the day getting some needed things done around here.  I am almost done putting the rivets in place on the bridge project, and need to get started writing an article that has been planned for a while.  The picnic yesterday went well and was a lot of fun even though there were only 7 of us from the division attending.  Several people who were not our members tried the Inglenook Timesaver and enjoyed it.  I got to ride on a 7" scale train around the p[ark a couple times.  One of our members (wife of a meber as well) got to learn how to operate the traion and drove once around the park...  Now my attention will be turning to the Fall meet and the Spring Convention!  We have a place for the Fall meet, but no program planned yet.

Guess I better get moving and get some stuff done...  later!

Good morning. It's 80° with 91% humidity. It'll be sunny with a high of 95°.

Nothing much going on today. Still recovering from yesterday. I don't have any plans so I'll probably watch a movie (got 'Earthquake in New York' on right now) then go through a mission or two on Star Fleet 1. I'd like to work on the layout but I know from bitter experience what will happen if I do. I have to get my physical and medical problems sorted out before I can do anything on it. I don't know. I may just end up having it torn down.

Good Afternoon!

The hot and humid weather continues, making me really feel awkaward. I don´t get much done on the layout these days - Sigh

We opened all windows early this morning and were able to cool down the place. Unfortunately, it does not last very long until it heats up again. A kingdom for air conditioning!

I built a quick & dirty mock-up of the freight house, just to check on the dimensions and the fit into the scene. I used a print of the drawing, glued to 1mm cardboard stock, assembled it and added a dab of paint. Took me about two hours, before it got too hot again.

I think I will extend the loading deck a liitle to form a platform  in front of the building. If you folks like it that way, I´ll go for it and build it.

Janie, I need a ton of ice cream to coold me down, please.

Have a great Sunday!

Good evening. It's a warm but comfortable night. 83° and 79% humidity. Looks like tomorrow will be in the mid 90's and very humid and sunny.

Worked on Zelda (Apple IIc) this morning. Put her through a tough battery of tests that pushes the chips to their limits. She passed with flying colors. She's now an official addition to my collection. Diana (Apple //e) didn't do quite as well. The tests turned up a weakness in the video ROM. Replacing the chip fixed that. She scored full marks on the next test. Bravo. She's a keeper as well. Not bad for a rebuilt school computer from a private school in Wauconda Illinois. A computer has to be top notch to be in my collection and not just a parts source.

Went to my nieces baby shower this afternoon. Between the chicken, finger sandwiches, salad and snacks I think I overdid it a bit. But I did have fun. That's something I haven't had much of lately.

My father and I haven't chosen a date yet to take the van in to have the engine changed out. Things have been a bit busy around here. I have the money for the engine. He'll be paying for the swap out of the old with the new. Those who contributed have my thanks and the thanks of my family. These individuals know who they are. Thanks to all of you.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

 Evening Dinners

Flo Beer pleases and a oder of Onoins and Liver please.

Steam Engine Grave Yard Came a cross the Video after the Crossing Gate Video. I wounder if Ulrich knows about this?

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=823WA3cgq1I

Work Front Well, the store did not have a good day, only $1950.00 in sales. I on the other hand Yes had a real good day! Made a extra $215.00 in spiffs! Next week I work all week in St Charles, not happy about that part! Drive wears the car and my self out fast. The store has a ad in the paper this coming week so Marv (Owner) wants me there. Guess that is what I get for having the highest profit margain of all the sales people and number 3 in gross sales.

Work Out Front Tonight's work out was a tad of a disapointment. After the last arm work where I really beat on the Biecepts toninght I only gain 1 rep in the arm curles. But a gain is a gain and I know this is going to be a long road! I can feel the diffrences, I feel like I am standing a little more Erect than before and chest feels a little fuller

Sleep Study I am really looking forward to it! My wife on the other hand? Bang Head Not so much! Reason? I am going to sleep in the bedroom on a real Mattress and not the Pice's of Caboosee Couch!

 See you all later, Ken

Down here we just grab a water heater and put it in. Doesn't matter if it's made for a house or mobile home. We don't have all those weird regulations here.

well

we went to order/pay for/get done the water heatrer. Turns out there is a "pre-inspeciton law" because it IS a mobile home before it can be done. The salesman {what does he know?} siad they rarely say NO to an installation. I am sure they will find something or other though, they always do on a MH. That cost $35. The h2o heater is the 30 gallon natural gas $416.00 model. That is $200 cheaper than the one the salesman was tellibg us about 2 months ago when we bought the stove! They DO have a $618, and change model, but they don't in-stock it. I saw ones for a mere $150 or less I'd like to have paid, but not so for MHs.

SO, Now I sit and wait for a phone call from either Lowes of the plumbing company that does the installation to set up dates for inspection.

That is fine as I have a busy 2 weeks coming ahead and would have had to wiat till after the 11th for installation, anyway.

well

I d best see see what ohter trouble I can get into wiht the net.

Good Afternoon!

It´s been a quiet day today. Time to relax and let the good old times pass by. Petra and I had a nice dinner (lunch - we have the main meal at noon here). We did not go to our favorite Greek restaurant, as it has changed ownership and they are not open during the day. Well, today they missed good business.

As promised, I did not do any MRRing today, but I will make up tomorrow. I´ll be starting on the freight house, I think the supplies of stripwood and plywood s are sufficient to complete this building as well. I might make a cardboard mock-up first, as this building hits the backdrop at an angle, so that can be quite tricky.

Last thunderboomer dislodged a large branch off a tree right above where my car is parked. It can come down any minute. Guess who´s car is not parked there anymore?

Nice pics, Jeff!

CUL, Folks!

Good morning. It's 80° with 88% humidity. The high will be 95° and sunny.

Only one item of note today. My niece will be having her baby shower this afternoon. Other than that there's nothing special on my schedule. Sometime this morning I'll be putting Zelda (Apple IIc) through a battery of tests to check proper functioning of all components. I've already performed such a check on Diana (Apple //e) (first since ROM chip replacement) and found all functions to be within normal parameters.

Be back later.

Hi Guys

Have to work today ( 10-6:30 ) but have tomorrow off. Not feeling 100% today either so hopefully It goes away at some point today.

talk to you guys later on tonight

Jeremy B, : If you are still having "headache problems", you should now definitely make a trip to the ER where they cna take a CAT scan of your head, or an MRI.

Even my worst of Migraines never last so long as long as your is now.

I've had about every migraine med known to mankind and have found success with RELPAX. BUT hat is ME< not you. IF I have a migraine lasting as long as yours, even with the med, I go to ER for tests. And when I take it, It will make me so sleepy that there will be NO;  working, driving or etc. as it would mean a "driving under the influence" charge, so you HAVE TO take it with about 10 hours of "down time". I get to take one pill, if not working in 2 hours, thake a second. Usually does the trick!

Never can be to safe of, or fear of being to sorry later!

****~~~~

Well we are biting a bullet and going to Lowes to buy a water heater today. DOn't know which model, but we will see, they have a couple that are certified for MH {Mobile Home installations}, so should be fine.should coat us about $850 and taxes of $68 so $918. We have a couple rebate cards, one from LOwes, two from Verizon and of course balance to be paid with my other 2% back card. we should knock off aobut $125 with the rebate cards. SO leaving me with about $793 on my card to pay for. Technically I already paid for the rebate cards too. but it takes some sting out of it now. ANd I will get a whopping $15.86 back on the card..is that right? yeah 2% of $1000 is $20, so yeah! That brings my net cost down to about $777. Not really, as I am sure there is some kit or other I will have to buy with teh heater for insatallation! It will take til Xmas-no, wait-Jan.  to pay of f the h2o heater at least.

I have to find the money for the exterminator agian for mice,a nd for the plumber to snake the pipe which they wnat to rplace to teh tune of a mere $1400 plus taxe and any extras along the way. for a 40' pipe if that. they will have to cut below the trielre to get to it, but their worries nt mmine, for now the $129 to snake teh drain 2xs a years looks like a bargain.

The ffood panty sent me a new "summer starving kids" donation card adn I do almost eery time send money, but I just don't have it in the budget for it this time. I HAVe in the past used the mobile pantry they are asking for $$$ for so I believe in: paying back and paying forward. But we are financially strapped until next years income tax refund! {MAybe I can find like $3-5 bucks to send}

I hae been thinking of selling *GASP* {NOTE: NOT HERE} some/most/all of My HO stuff to get money to pay some bills. I could, I think at $25 a pop for 13 locos, and $75 for the special loco, and about $6-8-10/rr car of all types get about $500-$550, IF i can get them sold. That is on hte CHEAP side, as I a m sure I can  get "cheap" sales...more realistic may be antother matter.

well, in other news, NOTHING going on

later
