ULRICH, Our Man,

So glad you are back home. I think we had all speculated that you were in the "Horsepital"

Glad you didn't have to go under the knife.

Be patient with each other, life is too short to be annoyed and fedup with your situation.  Appreciate what you have and make the most of it. And remember LOVE conquers all.

This last year has been very unpleasant and still is for some things, but I can't imagine going through it with out my "Angel" Wife.  It would have been Hell.

Looking forward to your regular postings, they are always interesting and informative.

I consider you a Buddy, in deed.

Welcome back, Ulrich!  Freut mich sehr!  Being hospitalized is never enjoyable, but I'm glad to hear that they found the problem and can treat it.  I had shoulder surgery about 20 years ago, and do you know what I remember most about the whole thing?  The bad hospital food!  How can they mess up macaroni and cheese?

Sir Madog

Thanks to Glaxy for conveying my message to you. It was the wrong one, but that does not matter. I wanted him to say that I am missing you all very much and also a thank you for your thoughts and wishes.

But I DID include that line! I just wasn't sure which "sentence" you wanted passed along so i sent both!

Glad you are home safe and now all is better! Or at least some better!

And I knew you'd work out the layout problems!

Like I said before, if she doesn't like THAT hobby, tell her you'll take up "drinking and cavorting with quesitonable women"!

good to see healing enegies worked!

You will still be on the "list".

Going to the Lawyer Tuesday to sign the BoS Stuff. Sigh While I hate to do it, I really don't feel I have a choices. (Boy I miss Spell Check) As pointed out by a few folks here and my daughter there is not much out there to rent for $600.00 a month which is what I would fell comatable with. Plus the kicker I only have made a extra $150.00 this month in spiffs but had $451.00 in car repairs, Vet bills, and Sue's dental bill's.

Ken, Welcome to the club! And we don't get no "spiffs"!!!

You got off EASY! My last repair bill was $735 and I am STILL paying on it 5months later {no interest on their brand credit card if paid in 6 months!} {But interest accures each month and all comes DUE at the end of the 6 months if you don't pay it off at 28.99%!!}

Today I was informed at a simple oilchange that the boot on the right transaxle is leaking so a new 1/2 shaft transaxle is in order SOON, but not immeditately! Yeah right! the sooner the better to replace that and I need a radiator flush...that bill will be $678!

SO as soon as the first repair bill is paid off, I'd best recharge the card up to the next repair, don't need a 1/2 shaft ungreased on me!

Second, Ken, WE PAy $350 a month for LOT RENT. About 1/2 what you'll pay for a MORTGAGE...GUESS which I'd rather have? A Mortgage cause at least we'd OWN a HOUSE ON LAND, not a trailer on someone else's land! If we didn't Own the trailer paid for already, we'd pay about as much as you!!! {one bill for mortgage on the trailer and one rent bill together} And STILL not own any land!

Third, KEn,The last vet bill was $230 {the previous vet bill was $530 and included the cremation} , the last dental bill was $750 {we are responsible for 40% of that or $300!!!} AND I see the dentist again tomorrow!,  AND it cost us out of pocket $1000 so far to find out MOH has a bone disease, in the last month,  and we will Have NEW bills acruing on that front as  MOH sees a speciailist soon!!! Oh, and the Cat needs to go BACK to the Vet for shots and  be shaved to get rid of Knots we cannot get out!

MOH works TWO jobs, are you working two jobs?

Seems your expenses are cheaper than ours!

SO, Join the club!

and we don't get no extra money "Spiffs"!!!!

On other notes:

Well, went and spent about $75 at the Aldi grocery store, cheaper than the other one, but you don't get gas points at Aldi, so its a trade off. Have $0.70 off next per gallon fillup meaning I'll pay about $3 a gallon for up to 20 gallons so I am waiting til tank is empty naturally!

Spent more than I bargained for naturally. But had to get some extra stuff for our trip on Friday! taking extra as our friend who is going with us is short on funds, so he will have ham sandwhichs{take in parts, ham, cheese, mayo, mustard, bread, don't forget knife!} and fruit bars to supplement his food money, and we will have "just in case". We have an electric cooler we take. Also got a couple of cases of spring water extra to take on the trip. Yes I said electric cooler! It plugs in to cig lihgter or wall adaptor, uses NO ice and keeps things nicely cold. Need to plug in the night before and run all night to bring down temp, but works very well, and use only cold things in it. Can't use in the car if needs to sit in the car as it will drain the battery! And it takes forever to cool down a warm item! costs little apparently to run too. wil transfer to hotel room outlet when we get there.

Well, need to go over the extra stuff in the suit cases for the trip!

Mornin' everyone!

Ulrich!  So good to have you back here.  I have been praying for you.  Started even before we got your message from Galaxy.  Glad the Docs were able to help you quickly and prevent any lasting injury.  Stay on the mend, my friend!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of granola cereal with blueberries and a pot of dark roast coffee to keep my R&GV RR mug filled for a while.

Today is the MLK Committee end of season picnic out at the local Yacht Club.  The forecast for today is: "Variable clouds with scattered thunderstorms. A few storms may be severe. High 86F. Winds SSW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 60%."  I have already sent an email to a couple of the principal players in the Picnic plans to see what contingency plans we might have in place.... Just in case!  Right now it is 72°F and overcast.  May get a couple hours of sunshine early this afternoon before conditions deteriorate.  I have all knids of stuff to keep me busy today anyway...

Catch you all later!

Good Afternoon!

I am home again. Petra took me home from the hospital and served a nice lunch to me! How I hate hospital food! Feels good to be back!

I had a miniature bleeding in my brain, which fortunately did not do much harm and could be resoved with meds instead of surgery. Those meds still make me feel drowsy and weak and I am not up to much.

The layout is still up and will remain so until we have found a way not only to improve our housing situation, but also our life. This will take a few years, but at least we have now a common goal. I will continue to work on the layout, mainly building structures. I hope to get back to that engine house soon. There are lots of pre-fabricated parts awaiting assembly !

Thanks to Glaxy for conveying my message to you. It was the wrong one, but that does not matter. I wanted him to say that I am missing you all very much and also a thank you for your thoughts and wishes.

Hope to see you soon - I am heading for bed to get some rest.

Good morning. It's 76° with 96% humidity. The high will be 92°. Cloudy with a fair chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Looks like we'll be having thunderboomers all week. Hope I don't have to morph into a duck.

Nothing in particular planned for today. I'll be watching some movies and playing some computer games as usual. Something else will likely present itself.

OK, it's Tuesday.  It's going to be hotter today, and unfortunately, tonight as well.  I've got to get that old AC replaced.  I've had the new one in the garage for almost a year now, but it doesn't fit the same opening, so some carpentry will be involved.  We've got a guy who does stuff like that, but he's not returning our calls.  I'll have to find someone else.  Or maybe I'll just try it myself.

Evenin' folks!

Ahhhhhh......  Oh!  Janie, I need a cup of decaf to relax me, please!

Been a busy day here...  Went shopping.  Bought some foam board to make a couple of signs for the Pack, bought a small American Flag to use for the opening ceremony for the Pack/den meeting, then went grocery shopping and over to the Mennonite farm stand.  They are now in business for the season, so I bought a berry pie and a dozen farm fresh eggs.  Got one load of clothes done (washed and dried) and started another load.  Made one of my famous potato salads for the MLK Committee picnic tomorrow night.  Finally, printed out a bunch of materials to use at the Den Meeting for the Pack on Wednesday.

I am bushed!  Back hurts and I can barely keep my eyes open so I will be heading out to bed as soon as I clean the Kitty Litter Box and shut lights down cellar.

See in the morning!  Prayers for all of you that are in need of them!

Good evening. 80 here with humidity almost that high. There's a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow.

Aside from my other activities today I had to repair a disk drive. It was going fine then it went pop and some smoke came out of it. A quick inspection revealed a capacitor that had some grayish black goo leaking out of it. No problem to replace. Clip the leads at each end and straighten then so they're vertical. Get a junk analog board from the closet, cut it's leads at the board and straighten them so they're horizontal, lay it in place and solder the horizontal leads to the vertical leads and the repair was made. I put the drive back together, tested it with favorable results and put it back in service.

Everything else worthy of note was reported earlier.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

kbchooch inquired:

Mr B, how did the pearl drops work??

I don't think they did much good at all, but I haven't run the engine in enough yet.  This engine, perhaps, is more "whiney" than "growly," so the gears aren't the primary problem.  Maybe it's a bit better.  When running at "space normal" or "switcher speed," it's not bad, but then again it never was.  I think I over-oiled the engine bearings and that's having an effect on its slow-speed performance, or maybe I need to give the track and wheels another cleaning.  Just like me.  Is it the meds?  Is it the pollen?  Is it the heat?  Is it the wheels?  Is it pollen on the track?  Too many variables to make the call.  If I can get it to run well at switcher speed, then I can put in a sound decoder.

My other project is those streamliner passenger cars.  They seem fine, but I sometimes get a short when running the bunch around one curve.  I think I've isolated it to the coach named C. Montgomery Burns, which is "excellent," but I don't see what's wrong with it.  In the process of this, Gigi the GG-1 has shown me that crummy OEM couplers on her are in need of an upgrade.  Ah, women.  Always needing another bauble...

On other matters, just finished mowing the lawn before it gets all wet from the thunder boomers that are forming up to the SW of us.. Got pretty warm today which is really nice. Of course it would be even nicer if I had the convertable to drive. Short topless season up here so you have to take advantage of every good day you can.

Just about time to have supper so best run.

Cheers

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of the Organic All-Bran Cereal with a bunch of blueberries on top along with a cup of Dark Roast coffee in my R&GV RR mug please...

I will be playing catch up today.  Have to go grocery shopping, start to get the mulch I bought 3 weeks ago put out along the fence, bring in the batteries from the back of the PiP and get them charging (the ones for the string trimmer and my little chain saw), format and print several things for the new Cub Pack, and do the laundry.....

Jeffrey, you are making me very glad I stayed using the Mac.  For the most part it just works!!!  About the only program I used that is no longer runable on the newish iMac is Appleworks.  I can still open it on my old laptop if I need to get at any old that old info (that I didn't convert way back when to Excel/Word/etc.).

I am finding my old body is responding well to the change in the amount of excerise I am getting now that Sprig/Summer is here.  I was very, very out of shape from last Winter I guess.  Need to not let that happen this year!  probably should renew my old walking pass over at the colleges.....

Catch you all later!
