Morning all, I am not sure what I want for breakfast so surprise me lol. Not sure what Iam going to do today since the grass is still wet,and it is supposed to rain today. I work later today so yeah I cannot get into anything serious. Then again, I may plan out a diorama to take photos of my equipment with. I'm glad the storms missed here, but we got the rain.
Bear: Thanksfor the link, that's some impressive work.

Good morning!
No, it's not. The Bruins lost, and are now out of the playoffs. I will say, though, that Montreal was the better team and deserved to win.
I picked up Penny at the airport yesterday. I decided to just stay at work late and then drive into Boston to pick her up. If I'd gone home, I would just have had to re-trace my steps, but going in the bad-traffic direction. My company is very strict about working your 40 hours, no more, no less, so I'll take off an hour early tomorrow to make up for it.
It looks like we've got about a week of wet weather on the horizon, so hopefully I'll get that depot finished soon.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
As it's been raining here all morning, and they are calling for severe thunderstorms later, I suppose any outside chores will be on hold. So it looks like the living room, dining room & foyer will get cleaned. I should try to get the kitchen floor scrubbed as well. I was hoping to wash the car & get a coat of wax on it this week, but that will depend on the weather as well. They say the weekend should be dry though. That's good, as the plans are for more railfanning Saturday & Sunday. Have a good one...

well
my FIL, in his infinite wisdom, has decided to take a trip by car {meaning DRIVING-not exactly his strong suit right now} to the mid-atlantic states and then on to FL to visit some relatives he "may not see again".
Now, this is the man, mind you, who needs a GPS directional to go anywhere and can get lost going to get the mail, and his mail is delivered through a slot in his front door!
He literally uses the GPS to get around our city/area and he's lived here for what, now, 47 years, half his life???
Now he called up yesterday and wnated "travel sites"...so I gave him the names of expedia.com and trivago.com, to name a few...that was one too many for him.
WHat he DID NOT say, was thst what he really wanted was MAPS for TRAVELLING SOUTH. I would have sent him to mapquest.com and google maps, then IF he had told me what he really wanted to know!
I don't think he has any idea what he is in for with travel on interstate high rise fly-overs around, say Baltimore or DC area. They were just starting them or working on them-we could see them- when MOH and I went to FL to Disney World in 2003. MAYBE they made it easier for him to drive the highways or not. "Dun't no" as Ricky Ricardo would say.
WE don't think it safe for him to do this, but he wants to go and so no talking him out of it. He also thinks he can get to FL in less than 2 days. MOH last did it in 2 days and we ourselves were younger then than we are now. and with 2 drivers!
My father, on the other hand is contemplating one last trip to the mid-west for the smae reason, only a trip made in a very long day many years ago now takes him at least 2 days, and in reality he knows he really needs 3 days to get there. and then of course 3 days to get back home. He is more realistic than the FIL. My father knows he is good for about 6 hours max of driving then needs a break. He doesn't yet know if he will do it or not. I will ask today whne I see him.
well, NO CALL yet from the installer. Now watch, while i am at Mental Health and MOH is at work, they will call! IF NOT, tomorrow morning, first thing, I have a few miscelany items to return to Lowes, and will give the store manager a strong piece of my mind! We bought it on Snday and 4 business days have gone by without even a single call from the installer??? and we PAID extra $119 for installation?? Maybe I am due to get a return break on the stove or the installation charge. Only the guy from Lowes has called for followups on the installation, but if they guy they have hired to work as an installer for them CAN'T do what..a 10 minute connection job? and an hour for driving here and delivery? then they need somone else! I don't know what Lowe's pays him out of that fee they charged me, but even at $50, for an hours worth of work ,ain't bad potatoes! Probably not as profitable as flipping houses and making $100's or even $1000's per hour!
I would be more happy if we had heard from him and he couldn't get to us until mid-next-week,than to not hear yet from him at all!!!
ah well, we will see what today will bring!
I must get ready as soon i will leave for MH.
havea grand day all you folks!
Good morning. It's 53° with 79% humidity. The high will be 75° and it'll be sunny.I had a doctors appointment this morning but had to call in and reschedule it for a week from now. Couldn't get the van to start. Seems like the coil is having some kind of a fit as I can hear it pop or crack once in a while and it gets hot quick. I'll put the spare coil on it later and see what happens. I bet it'll start then. Right now I'm not getting my hands anywhere near that hot thing. I did that once already and had some nasty blisters to show for it. That was one time that I was glad I couldn't feel anything.Being as my plan for the morning has been knocked into a cocked hat I now have no plans except to change the aforementioned coil later. Maybe I can watch some TV or a movie or I could tear down a loco and put it back together and see if I end up with any parts left over. A friend will be bringing me an Apple IIc to fix but that probably won't be until next week as he has a pretty ugly work schedule. Well(deep subject), I could pull an old Canadian made Apple II Plus compatible out of the closet and work on it for a while. That's all for now. Be back later.

Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have a short stack of buttermilk pancakes with real NYS Maple Syrup, a side of sausage links, and a pot of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast coffee to keep my R&GV RR mug filled for a while.
Galaxy, I think Fetridge's Law will likely come into play here... The law reads, "Nothing ever happens unless it is no longer favorable for it to happen." I bet you breakfast tomorrow morning in the diner that the installer calls while you are gone! I would certainly have a "Friendly Chat" with the dept manager at Lowes... I only buy major appliances at a store downtown. Locally owned and operated business (Discount Appliances). They are a bit more expensive than the "Big Box" places, but installation is included in the price and they show up within a couple days as agreed upon and hook up and haul away the old at no extra cost, making them the same as or less expensive in the long run as the "Big Box" ripoff stores. And... The profit they make stays here in town rather than going to the pockets of some Billionairs!
According to the weather guessers it is cloudy outside this morning which doesn't explain the definite shadows that the trees and stuff are making... I like shadowy days as it means the roof is paying for itself.... Currently74°F outside with a high of 80°F later this afternoon.
I have to get the photos resized to use in the slide show today, and at least get started putting the slide show together.
Catch all of you later!

Evening Gang!
I have been quite busy all day long. Petra´s back is still hurting quite a lot, so I had to take over all household chores today. Two full loads of laundry, shopping, cooking, cleaning the bathroom - you name it, I did it.
I still found the time to finish off the plaster w*rk on my layout. No more big mess, only little ones
Galaxy - I am with Ray on the issue of your new stove. I´d have a few choice words with the manager of this place. Tell him the restaurant bill will be on him if the stove is not delivered and installed by tomorrow 17.00 hrs. When we moved into our firts house, Petra being close to giving birth to Christian, the kitchen was delayed by two weeks, they told me. Believe me, it was delayed by only one day and even that day cost them a fortune! Report them to the BBB!
Y´all have a great time!
Edit: I just saw, this is post # 6,500! Whatever you chowhounds are going to have - all the food and the drinks are on me!
Well I was right! Changed out the coil on the van, cranked the engine, it turned over twice and fired right up.Nothing else going on.
jeffrey accurately stated: If he/she is like the dept manager at the Lowe's here any and all complaints go on a fast track to the other ear and bypass the brain completely.

My Mom bought herself a set of earrings. The left one said "IN" and the right one said "OUT." She had a great sense of humor.
Galaxy, does your FIL have AAA? If you know anyone who's got it, they will give you a great set of marked-up maps for any driving route you'd like, absolutely free. It's also good security for someone who is not mechanically-inclined when they're out of town. I wouldn't buy it myself, but we have it for my wife and daughter, neither of whom could tell a carburetor from a pretzle-bending machine.
well,
RAY and Jeffrey {and ME}: we were a hair's breadth of being sooooooo right. I had literally walked in the door, greeted the anxious cat with one hand, and picked up the phone in the other to read the Caller ID to see who might be the flashing message on the machine when the phone lit up and came alive in my hand! It was the installer! Had I been 30 seconds later in arriving home, I would have missed his call! He will be here about 2PM tomorrow to install the stove, FINALLY. I asked if he needed directions, he siad no, he knew where it was. Yeah, we'll see!
{the message caller was FIL}
Now, Not 20 minutes later Lowes called to verify we were having delivery...see Lowes itself was not the problem, the subcontracted installer is! ANyway I verified it was set up for 2 pm tomorrow, and then Lowes said they would call Saturday to make sure it is working all right. I said... yeah, IF we don't have flooding that knocks out the power! {the gas stvoe has electric 110 for the elcetronic oven controls and electronic igniters}. The Lowes guy said "yeah i guess we are getting about 3 "? I said yeah, and if it floods out our substation again, it will be 5 days before I can tell them it works!.
Saw the psychiatrist and agreed the old clinic is only treating half my issues, but he wants full blood work and to consult my GP before a med. It will finally treat the manic part of my bipolar issues. currently and for years they have concentrated on the depression part, ignoring the mania. They have to now catch up because the mania is getting out of hand now. Maybe yo'all have noticed me almost blog-positng here several times a day..IF you even read them. That woudl be a current Mania issue!
It also seems the old clinic is apparently going to be de-funded so that is why they tried pawning me off on my GP, but he only knows a little about everything, and not a lot of specifics. The Psychiatrist went over some meds, past and present and allergies, and I told him that is WHY I want a psychiatrist on my case.
Jeffrey: he {the psych.} also said something disturbing that may directly affect you too, but won't directly affect me. YET. Give me till tomorrow to PM you about it!
well, MOH is now home too and we are both beat, so bed will come early.
later, or rather til tomorrow morning!
Evenin' folks!
Janioe, just a quick cup of decaf...
Will be shutting down the computers very soon. Looks like tonight will be another gully washer for the Finger Lakes area. Thubnderboomers are starting up soon and will continue all night. The strom is moving in from the South and will just keep moving up through this area. Just what Penn Yan needs after yesterday's flooding! A local news blog from the Yates County area did a photo shoot on the damage there.
Galaxy, even without eklectricity you should be able to light the burners of the stove using a match or other such thing. At least mine will. One nice thing about a gas stove. The oven won't work but you should be able to use the burners. Gald you finally heard from the installer!
I'll check in , hopefully tomorrow morning!
Stay safe and dry out there.
Howdy everybody.
We've been busy with out of town guests. Catch up with you later.

RAY: The new ones have safety systems that won't allow it to burn if the electronic ignition hasn't been tripped. SO using it while the power is out is moot point now.
We have an old piloted water heater, so we have hot water when the power is out as long as the town's generator keeps the well pump pumping.
Our neighbor has a new{er} gas stove and I said the same thing you did "well at least you can cook"...she showed/told me NOPE. It WILL light with a match, but it shuts it off very quickly if the electronic ignition didn't start that flame.
{they have an electric H2O heatrer, so they have NO hot water and NO stove to cook with either...at least we have HOT water!}
{of course after 24 hours we have to BOIL said water because the well may be contaminated by flood waters, and/or the treatment system does not running on the generator too.}We will find out soon enough!!!
Hopefully WE DON't get what others have gotten out of these storms!
well, all, I am going to bed here in 10 minutes.
FOr those of you into the "saga of the gas stove"...part nine will commence tomorrow when I will hopefully have something good to report!
It will be interesting to see how it will change the NYSEG bill {New York State Electric and Gas}, The gas stove should save us money on usage over the {supposed} higher cost of electric cooking, but gas can get expensive too. We will now have Nat gas for:heat, hot water, coooking, and ELectric for Lights and A/C only.
Now we could do what RAY did, and get SOLAR to offset/eliminate the A/C nad lihgting costs, we might be sitting pretty, though I MIGHT be tempted then to go ALL ELECTRIC!
have a good nihgt...
Weather tonight is cool and clear. Temp is 48° with a 5mph southwest breeze. Changed the coil out on the van. Watched some TV. Did some minor work on a few computers, took all of thirty minutes. Cleaned up a couple of locos whether they needed it or not. That's all I did today.Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
Good Evening Folks
Why Thank You Flo for the
Some how I eeked out a good day at work, did not have my first customer till 2:00 PM. The bought and I made a extra $21.00. Next customer came in around 5:18 and was looking for a Memory Foam Mattress which the wife (Kathy) will be sleeping on? See was a little confused, thought a Memory Foam Mattress Coils where made with Memory Foam? Got that straighten out and she started trying mattress.
Here is the problem with Working With A Idiot Even When They Are Not Even There! When we order Sheet Sets and Futon Covers we can not order colors, the manafactour picks what colors they have to send. Now Idiot Dave has been told this and he has been there 5 years! Yet, I heard him this last weekend tell a customer he would order a ceritian futon cover color for her? So she comes into pick up her Futon Frame, Mattress and Cover while I was with the above people! Wel you can take it from there, she was and I was catching the blunt of it!
While this was going on I had yet another coustmer come in that wanted a cheap twin. By now I had total lost control of the first set of customer where I could make some commission! Guy bought his cheap twin, mad Lady will be back Saturday to give a some of her mind and the couple looking for the Memory Foam Mattress say thanks and where heading toward the door while I was loading the twin mattress. As luck would have it, they tried one last bed as I was getting done with the twin.
Got them talking again and got control back! Had to discout a little more than I wanted to, but got the sale and made a extra $80.00! With the first sell, this one and the one from Wednesday I have around $251.00 in comission this coming check. Thank goodness I need the funds so I can get Sue back to the denist next week!
Ulrich my friend, I made it to K-10 tonight after work. Hard to believe there is 1000 rail spikes in this small of a bag. Did you see my question about if you like to have my old Bachmann E Z Command?
See you all Friday, Ken

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY
Ken: I hate to tell you this, while you may not carry it, but there IS a memory foam mattress made that DOES have memory foam made into support coils for the upper layers of memory foam mattress topping.
They call it something-or-other{the name elludes me now}, but the theme is that it is the only memory foam mattress that stays cool, while other regular mattresses heat up by absobing and reflecting body heat.
Each coil is made of strong cooling "gel-like" cooling memory foam coiled lattice affair "to support and cushion you while you sleep". The top {and bottom} layer is about 2" thick of the new "cooling memory foam".
It has an "open cell construction to dissipate heat".
I am SURE they are VERy expensive.
WE won't do a memory foam again. We have a memory foam pilllow topped mattress, the first thing to break down was the memory foam topper! Then we DO buy slipppers lined wih memory foam, it too, breaks down within a week or so. ANYthing "memory foam" we have had, breaks down sooner or later. The memory foam MAY have been made for the astronauts to sleep on in space, and it may "maintain its shape" out there in space, but here,on Earth, gravity does a number on it! Oh, nad BTW, the mattress is now just 10 years old adn out of lifetime warantee, so we are in search of a new one, but the memory foam pillow top had degraded so much by the 5 year mark it is terrible!! and naturally, the company we bought it from went out of business!!!! Gee, I wonder why???
Lunchtime!
Zoe, a submarine sandwich and an RBF, please!
Afternoon Folks,
no MRRing this morning. We went to see Petra´s aunt in the nursing home and are right back from that trip. We are the only close-by relatives and also the only ones who go frequently to see after her. This time, we brought her some clothing. Seeing her eyes smile makes us happy.
Ken - you got me there! Your offer is really tempting and I had to give it more than one thought. Basically, the layout is a 1 loco affair, it has been designed for that and DC operation. DCC would be fine, but I would have to redo the basic wiring of my Peco Electrofrogs switches to cope with DCC. That would be some job! If I were to go the DCC route, I´d have to equip my locos with a sound decoder, which I cannot afford. I am planning on getting Kato´s analog sound sytem once it´s in the market, providing it does not exceed, say, $ 80, street price. If you are not mad at me, I´d say no to DCC.
Petra is calling for lunch - CUL!
Have a good one!
Good morning. It's 57° with 91% humidity. The high will be 82°. A few clouds, lots of sun.Not much planned today. I'm waiting on the call from the Home Health nurse. Other than that my day is open.Video of my Athearn SW1500 undergoing testing.
Good morning. .... Sunny and cool this morning.
Meanwhile, back at the 2-10-2. I've been running it with a non-sound decoder to work the bugs out. I think the electrical problems are solved, and it will not have short circuits again. Oddly, the tender is now derailing for no apparent reason, and I am working to solve that. Eventually I will re-install the Tsusami decoder which has been returned from its third trip to the factory. Sountraxx has been good about fixing it each time I sent it to them.
Happy model railroading
I had to run to the bank and CU.
I was raining not cats and dogs, but cows and horses! there was a lot of ponding going on.
I think {there I go again} that we will escape major flooding, though.
Penn Yan, Yates County, that Ray posted links to is really getting hammered though again!
It seems to be moving off to the north and east, WHICH STILL could leave us with flooding IF the waters that flow down our way don't behave!
It had all but stopped by the tiem I got back home, W of wherre I had to go today.
All to do now is to wait for the STOVE!!!
ANd we'll be dog gone if we didn't find a covered over outlet behind the stove! I will see it teh guy can install an outlet for the 110 use IF it is 110. It is a 2 gang box with what looks like one set going IN and one set going out. I can't imagine it to be more than a pass-through plug, BUT since it is a 2 gang box, I wonder if it might be a 220 outlet with 2 110's feeding into it?
"Dun't no" as Ricky Ricardo would say.
Mornin'.....
Zoe, just a bowl of Maple Pecan organic cereal to go along with a cup of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast Coffee for me this morning.
Gee, bet you'll never guess what today holds for us here in the Finger Lakes? Oh, Galaxy already gave it away.... We got over an inch of rain over night and still have a light rain going at the moment. Just restarted the siphon down cellar. Water is all over the floor down there and it is just pouring in by the back steps. It is all of 49°F at the moment with a high today of 52 this afternoon. Overnight tonight will go to 39°F. A cold front is moving in with this band of storms. Just turned the heat back on and the air conditioner off here at home.
I have a meeting with the Chartered Partner Representative from a unit we are trying to get back up and running later this morning. I also have a check for them to fund the startup of the Pack. That is from the now closed account that was for the old pack. We will be meeting at a new Gift and Lounge place here in town. I haven't been in there so I will enjoy seeing and patronizing a new local business.
I have to do laundry today and start printing all the needed materials for the Scholarship dinner as well.
Catch you all later (if I don't float away).
Good afternoon. I received the contract the other day for some window replacements. They are also going to change out 6 interior door as well. I decided to take the signed contract and the deposit back to their office this morning, as I had made 2 minor changes to the contract and wanted to be sure to point them out. We decided to stop for breakfast as it was on the way. As luck would have it, I got an e-mail with a coupon last night. Buy one breakfast & get the second free. Had another coupon last Monday too. Hope they keep sending them.
It's been very cloudy all day, nasty looking really, but no rain. Now I cut the grass on Monday, but I swear it grew 3 inches since then. So I just finished cutting it again. Had to use the bag on the mower as it was too tall to mulch cut.
So far our plans are to get a little railfanning in on Saturday & Sunday. In fact, the wife is making chicken & stuffing for our lunch tomorrow. Will stop & get a couple of burgers Sunday. Hope everyone has a good wekend and stays safe.
Guess what? The STOVE is HERE! And installed and now buring off!
Oh, the Joy! the rapture! almost like getting a new loco!
The guy arrived with it in his SUV of all things about 2:38 pm. SO not too far from the 2:00 timeline, so we didn't complain. Much. Not really. But had 3 bells come we were gonna call Lowes and complain.
Tom: we need to have some replacement windows done in the back MBR. There is a 5'x7'3 window bay window that is unsupported and is sagging right off the trailer. SO MOH wants a whole new bay, but I think just 3 or 4 double hungs mullioned together will be fine. No need for the "shelf" really. The AC is very crooked to the window frame and next year the budget MUST include fixing that. BUt our windows...are/have to be special double hungs surface mounted to the outside wall of the trailer. They make them special for trailers.
this year We have : bought a new dryer, new stove, will be replacing the water heater, sealcoating the roof, replacing the heat tape. Then we have to get a few new pannels of the clear corrugated plastic for the poorch. So, that is about all our finances can bear, so NEXT year -assuming the bay holds together that long- that will be done, and the skirting too, and finish the porch. the trailer is 31 yesrs old so have to expect some maintenace!
well, I have boiled a pot'o'water for a spot'o'tea, now to bake a meatloaf for dinner!

Hi Guys
Calling for frost here tonight so will have to go cover the newly planted flowers with newpaper to keep any frost off them. Figures too as we havent had frost for about three weeks now. hopefully the newpaper works, or it stays a little windy so we dont get any at all.
