Gee, Have I miss Ray today? or has he not been in? Dunno without retracing the whole day's thread here.

It is a chiily rainy day here...34 misserable degrees F.

TOmorrow better! Spring is slow in coming but I really never look for it until Easter. Its been a LOOOOONG winter this year. They say it could be symbols of things to come! Oh NO!

Dinner was BBQ chicken, Mac salad, carrots and Key Line Cake for dessert! Delicious!

Have agreat night sleep, see you in the early A of M.

Evening guys

I had to work today, so no train club.  When I got home, I reassembled the drives of my new Athearn RTR (perhaps Ready to rebuild; the last ones were good out of the box. The new ones not so much) SD40-2s. Much better, and I eliminated the rocking one of them exhibited. I put some .01 styrene on the top of the bolsters where the worm cover sits. I had to sand it a bit to get the rocks to have some play. They run better now, just need to be broken in. Of course, I need to order some decoders for the 3. I'll do that when I order a DT402D thottle (I can't find a good used DT400) from MB Klien

Good to hear Jeff is doing better, sans toe and part of a foot.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, I could use a refill on the decaf please....

Been a long busy and fun day!  All the old equipment worked perfectly out at the museum.  The brakes all played good and did their thing for the brake test, the kerosine stoves in both cabeese lit and put out heat, the old 80 tonner hauled everything up and down the line with no problems and 20 Scouts and about 5 leaders had a great time!  About 5 or 6 of the younger Scouts want to do the merit badge so I left word with one of the leaders to get in touch with me and I can come to a couple troop meetings and we'll get it done.

I no sooner walked in the door, used the little room at the end of the hall, and started to change out of my Trainman uniform when  the phone rang...  Didn't get to it beofre the person, my son, hung up.  I called him back and he told me the family was going to the local Chinese Food place here in town.  So I went over and joined them for dinner, which was good because I didn't have anything here to eat.  Tomorrow I will go over to their house for turkey after I get home from the Batavia Train Show.

After I got back home from dinner, I headed down to the train room and finished the picnic table.  Also weathered the Switch Stands for the small yard at the quarry and installed them.  I have decided that the stumps will need to be replaced.  Quicker and easier to make new ones than to keep trying to get these to look right.  That will be done on Monday, most likely.

Hope you all had a great day. Prayers for all in need!

Galaxy,

Maybe should You speak with Jeff again, you can tell him that His friends at Pro-Boards are wishing him well and miss Him. I have been keeping them updated, by you and Barry's grasiously received up-dates.

Post by Kencutus on yesterday at 7:14am

Good Morning! Thanks for the update, Frank. Just give him my regards and will be praying for his speedy recovery. Hope to see him here soon. It's kinda quiet around here without him. If anybody calls him, please find out how long he will be there and let us know. As for me, I'm doing ok after chemo two days ago. Just eating in moderation and not getting sick so far. Anti-nausea meds seem to be working. Have a great day! ;)
Jeff will know who this is and others.
Respectfully,

Hi Frank with the Stripes!

I specifically mentioned YOU, and that YOU had notified another forum you two belong to, and he sounded pleased! {I did because Garry helped me to realize you had done so}

SO that job is done! Jeffrey is appreciative!

He is always appreciative of our "compassion and willingness" to "help out others". He learned that when I started the "Help Jeffrey Housing fund" a short time ago.

Much like his posts, He is  man of quiet, steady words and inflections.

Technically anyone could call him, but If YOU WOULD, leave it to me and Garry as he DOES have therapies and meals to go to, and doesn't need to be overwhelmed by calls just yet, OR lose phone priveleges.

It is about a 12 bed facility, so he does have some companions around to "therapize" with.

If you want to send something to him at home, PM me or Garry for an address. He is in for a long haul, but that can change too, and fast! I should know! many hospitalizations cut short whne they need beds!

We'll keep Jeffrey on the prayers list!

-thanks

I wish I was closer too. We recently faced getting rid of he old gr. caravan. I would have loved to given it to Jeffrey, had a very sound motor, and the body rust may have halted down there instead of the salted roads here.

But to ship it or to fly someone...that would be cost prohibitive!

At least your heart is in the right place!

A great guy he is!

Gidday All, Daylight Saving finished night, and I don’t know if it’s a sign of getting older but my body clock doesn’t seem to cope adjusting that well, though with trials and tribulations of Jeffery, Johnboy, and other forum members I really have nothing to complain about at all!!!Embarrassed
77 F today actually I find autumn here the best time of year, the weather more settled with warm days and cool nights. It’s just the lack of rain is a bit concerning.
JR, I was pleased to hear, at the time, that you had enjoyed your trip here, though one could say that it’s a long way to come not to enjoy yourself.Big Smile
Not a new photo, and not really my backyard, but this 2 foot locomotive was one that hauled the sugar cane trains between Nadi and Lautoka in Fiji, the track running at the bottom of the garden of the chief pilot of the company I was contracting to at the time.
Well away for another week.

Morning all.  I had a long night last night, and difficulty sleeping as well. Oh well.  Waiting for my recalled car to get the recalled notice in the mail so I can get it it.  I've got that interview tomorrow, and nothing really going on today.  Prayers to Jeff, and every/anyone that needs them.

Good morning everybody.

Univ of Ky won last night. So they are in the final game vs U Conn. .... Looks like JR and I are rivals today.

Actually, I'll be gone most of the day. My 2 model railroad friends and I are going to the LHS 100 miles away. The shop is closed on Sundays, but he will meet us there in the afternoon.

Galaxy. Thanks again for helping with Jeffrey Running Bear. I won't be checking the computer all afternoon and early evening. I hope you don't mind if I let you answer questions about Jeff today.

Happy Model Railroading

Not a problem, But I, too, will be in and out all day.

It looks to be a nice day, so maybe we work on the porch again for Tuesday's garbage collection!

I was gonna say some other things, but htey have all now slipped my mind.

Senior moment.

Oh, I know one of the things, I did hear from....Ta Da! Johnboy. SO he is still alive and kicking for now, he says.

Well, we have a multitude of things to do around here, and today's high forecast is 53 balmy degrees, so we will be out in it taking advantage!

Like i siad, the porch needs another clean-off day!

The shed needs  a good cleanout and trashed stuff!

MOH is off today, so we will/MAY dive inot one or all of the "things to do" aroudn here.

So, Have a great afternoon yourselves!

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and the Sunday buffet please. Thanks.

Partly sunny, with a high near 60.

Welp, Brenda kept me out all day yesterday so nothing got done around here. BUT, the bikes for the Easter Egg Hunt are all bought and the errands are run so today is all yardw*rk. Already picked up a few trash bits and some leaves and (grrr) twigs. Lots more to do. Also put some Korean BBQ on for dinner tonight. Slow cooker kind. We’ll see how THAT turns out. I have yet to find anything store bought that tastes like the Korean food I had over there.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Strong coffee in a UNION PACIFIC mug.

***Bear, that is a really cool looking little loco, especially with that natural weathering.

My Sports Car (excavator) lost another tooth, so taking a break from playing in the mud until I can order a replacement. Besides, looks like 1-2" or rain tonight, with potentially over 2" tomorrow. Sure don't need it.

Have a great day all.

Good Afternoon!

I was so indulged in that translation job all day, that I even missed to take a lunch break. It´s now finished. All I need to do is to configure and format the print run - off it goes! One more of that and I´ll turn into an MRI specialist Smile, Wink & Grin

Good to hear that Jeff is in a good spirit!

I have been looking for a source for a bottle of acrylic paint in railroad tie brown, but I was not yet successful Crying I know Testors makes it, but I am not sure whether it is allowed in Germany. It should be, but who knows... I have also no idea how much of that stuff I need - I´ll use an airbrush to spray paint the ties and the sides of the rail. Anyone to give me a hint?

Supper time´s coming up, so i´ll just have some coffee, please.

Have a good one!

Hi Guys,

Nice day out today. We got our new washing machine earliuier in the week so have been doing alot of sheets and blankets. Not muchn planned today. Even though its a nice day the ground is still very much frozen and what is thawed is soft and muddy. I guess its a perfect day for a walk though but we are suppose to get alot of rain tomorrow.

Havent worked on the railroad at all in the last month and a half. I managed to get what I wanted to get done in the winter as far as building kits I wanted so If I do anything over the spring and summer it will be mostly just operating the layout. But for the most part I am in strictly a baseball and racing mood from now until the end of october. I have been playing strat o matic baseball alot and MLB the show on the PS3. I dont give up model railroading in the summer but I usually only run trains and leave building to the cold winter.

Just a quick, in and out of the diner, to leave a msg.

ULRICH,

Have you heard of Micro-lux Acrylic paint railroad colors? Supposed to be a perfect match for Pollyscale colors. Scroll down site and click on color chart and see if one of those Browns will work:

Well

I see the diner has been relatively empty today!

If like here, a beauteous day will do that to the diner!

We had a LOT of things "outside the home" to do, so we were gone most of the day.

Did NOT get to the porch. I have the pulmonologist tomrrow, then maybe after I work on the porch! i doubt it I need MOH's strong back to help and posta rain half the day.

I went to the Big & Tall store {in my case BIG} and got a few things. $225 of things. needed a few of those things though!

MOH and I are a "recognizable pair" apparently, where ever we go, we make an impression. The sales clerk who has only been in the store with us{working} and not waited on us remarked that "it was about time we had come" in, and they"missed us", That COULD be "sales talk" but in our case whether we are buying tissues or tires, we are well recognized. Dunno why, must be our "effervesance". That can be in our favor, but means we definitely cannot get away with anything in this town! Not only are we recognizable by face sighting, we are recognizable by name over the phone! Dunno.

WEll, I will call Jeffrey in teh middle of the week and see how he is doing! DOn't want to pester him too much!

If you want me to relay messages, please PM {start conversation} me and I keep a running list!

So have a great night's sleep and see you in Early A of M.

Tomorow 53F 'with a little light rain" what ever that means! It could be a misting to a downpour!

Evenin' folks!

Janie...  I could sure use a cup of decaf right now!  been a long but enjoyable day.

I got up before 6AM this morning to get showered and dressed to go the Batavia, NY (an hour and a quarter drive) for the Spring Great Batavia Train Show.  Great show as always.  The Genesee Society ofr Model Engineers in Oakfiled. NY puts on the show twice a year.  There were three of us working the Division Table. doing some modeling and talking with poeople.  i did the "out front" work rather than doing any modeling.  Had a lot of people stop at ask questions about the NMRA and quite a few took Railpass Applications with them.  That should be good news for our membership roster!

I got home, started the siphon down cellar (water is still pouring in the basement), did a couple other needed items and headed over to my son's house for dinner.  By the time I got there the rest have just finioshed dinner so I ate and chatted with my son for a while.  Watched a home video of my granddaughters accomaning the loittle kids choir at church this morning with Orff Xylophones....  cute!

Should have the scene I have been working on completely finished in a couple more days!  i post some more photos as I get things done.

I guess I will sit back and check oput the main forum for a bit...

Later!

Hey Folks, been a fair while since I've stopped by... sorry about that!

Sorry to read about Jeffrey's medical problems, I've not had a chance to read through it all, so if any one else is under the weather, thoughts with you too.

I've been way to busy with work and other commitments to stop by, although I did squeeze in another holiday. I haven't touched the layout for a month!

Hey Bear, It seems from your postings you are/were working in the aviation field? How is it over the dutch? Big Smile

Will try stop by again later in the week with a more detailed update.

Good morning!

Ski season is over for me.  They've made the "executive decision" to shut down the lifts serving the interesting territory.  It's one of those self-fulfilling prophecies.  They say people don't come up skiing this late in the season, but, with half the lifts shut down, why should they?  I've called it quits, and I'd imagine many other will, too.  For me, it's the start of .....  Train Season!

I was almost among the wounded.  While coming down a pleasant intermediate slope, I was blindsided and knocked over by a teenager.  Neither of us was hurt, but my shoulder got progressively more sore as the day went on.  Ibuprofen seems to be all I need, and I plan to be back on the ice tomorrow night for my weekly hockey game.

Good wishes to you all!

Good Morning All,

34F this morning but the suns out. We have a woodpecker going at it in one of the trees off our parking lot. First one I've seen in soome time. Not much going on with the layout as I ended up in the shop all Saturday and some of Sunday. I did finish putting  trees bush and weeds into the big ditch that represents the Still River. No pics yet.

One of the things I have to figure out is whether I can havee a reversing section on a two track loop. I think the answer is no and I'll have to isolate one track from the other. The alternative is to have a very short (about 3') reversing section. And yes all this is DCC (I use the PSX AR-1).

Usual Monday morning where I have a thousand things going all at once Truck to the repair shop cars to pickl up bodywork to drop off, etc.  Gota cut this short and run.   Cheers, J.R.

Good Morning All!

Lately I've been working in the backyard, prepping it to try to grow some veggies and things.  With all the rain and snow we've had, the area I wanted to use became swampy. I dug a small trench around the perimeter of the planned planting area and hopefully, that will divert the water. More heavy rain is expected later today.  On the layout front, the wiring is finally done and I've been working on some structure kits. I also have to mount 4 on/off toggle switches to the control panel on one side of the layout. These toggles isolate different yard tracks, to allow me to keep several dcc locos on the table without having them powered up until I need them.

Good Luck to Jimmy today on his job interview and positive energy to those in need.  Take care.

Good Afternoon Gang!

Good news - I am finished withn that translation and have duly turned it in! Bad news - there will be more coming, a tremendous cut on my MRRing time. It will, howver, enable me to buy a few items a lot earlier than I had planned. I´ll be ordering Caboose Industries high level HO switch stands, which should be perfect for On30, plus a couple of ground throws I will nedd for my fiddle yard, err - staging. the Y-switch will get a Blue Point "motor", as it has a DPDT switch built into it, so every time I turn the switch, the polarity change in the wye is made.

My friend will be back on Thursday, so coming weekend we may be able to put the benchwork up on the wall.

Jimmy - keeping my fingers crosswed for the job interview!

J.R. -

we have one of those in our neighborhood - a really noisy one. He is a´peckin´ all days long, sure is!

Have a good one!
