Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have a short stack of buckwheat pancakes with real NYS Maple Syrup, some bacon, and lots of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast Coffee to start the day.
So good to have Jeffrey back in the diner! Now behave yourself and be nice to those linbacker nurses you have at the rehab.....
Thank you, folks, for the input on the photos. I think I now have a set I can take to a meeting with a gentleman helping me with my next project (one that was supposed to be done last September...). Here at home the next thing I have to do is clean the layout thoroughly and get trains running for the switch over to NCE. The owner of NCE is a member of my division in the NMRA, BTW. A friend of mine from the Museum will be helping me change over to NCE and will give me some tips on best operating procedures.
Currently 56°F outside here in the Finger Lakes with a high today in the upper 60's. Little by little the lawn is changing from gray/brown to green... Won't be long before I will be complaining that I have no time for the layout ads I will have to mow.
Good to see Brother Lion here this morning and several others who we don't see often enough around these parts!
Have a great day!

Bored out of my mind, and no model railroad projects.

A beautiful day here in Pittsburgh with temperatures in the mid 70's. Perfect for railfanning, and it turned out to be outstanding. We caught 14 trains in 2½ hours. 1 auto rack, 1 coal train, 1 roadrailer, 1 crude oil, 5 mixed freights and 5 intermodals. A really nice mix of engines throughout the day as well. The best part was when we arrived, the crude oil was stopped waiting for a signal. Leading was the Lehigh Valley Heritage unit with a Ferromex SD70ACe trailing. This was the first time I've caught a Ferromex. The roadrailer also had an interesting Triple Crown trailer.
Got kind of lazy this afternoon. Just didn't feel like doing some chores that I had on the schedule. So I just sat on the couch and finished a book I had been reading. Hope your Saturday was as enjoyable as mine was.

Well that's odd. After posting I was going to edit my post and say if you clicked on the first image a short video of the Lehigh Valley & Ferromex would play. But no edit button is showing up. Then I also noticed that the last paragraph has become a link somehow to the video. I wish they would stop improving this web site. It gets more weird each time they play with it.

Sure good to see you back on line Jeffery Missed ya not to mention being concerned about you.
I think I just discovered a really cool way of filling in between my rock castings with Sculptamold. Got tired of fiddling around using a stick and brush so I got to thinking there HAS to be a better way. Well, after a few days of mulling it around in my mind, I went and bought a pastery bag today. You know, one of those things that bakers use to decorate cakes.
Mixed up some sculptamold, put some in the pastery bag and VOILA, the small tip is perfect for filling the gaps between the rock castings. Quick too. LOVe it.... With the amount of rock work I have ahead of me, it's got to be one of the best ideas I've ever come up with. Try it, you'll be impressed.

Was feeling good today. Doc started me on matforman. Now feeling tired and jumpy. Almost attacked nurse when she startled me. Don't feel right.

jeffrey: be SURe to tell the nurses/doc about that! I have had that kind of reaction to a medication too. It could fall under "adverse reactions", because it may not exactly be an allergic reaction, but it is of similar nature!
So tell all!
have a great night, or at least try to.
Evenin' folks!
Janie just a cup of decaf, please.
I got a bunch of odds and ends done today. Went to the grocery store for a few items I was out of or running stort on (Milk, half n half. fruit, etc), got back home and found that I had several bills I hadn't paid yet and since the mail had already been delivered I decided since it was such a nice day with lots of sunshine I would waste some electricity and drive them down to the mailboxes outside the Post office... I started picking up and putting away in the train rooms. Also sent an email to the guy who will do the change over from Digitrax to NCE for me. I sure I could do it myself without any difficulty, but it will be good to have help from someone who does this all the time, even if it costs me a few more $$$. The solar panels kicked out about 25 kWH of electricity today in the sunshine!
Got all the way up to 65°F today and tomorrow Summer will arrive when the temp will be 80°F! Two days later it will be 50°F and then Wednesday 42°F for the high. Low on Tuesday will be 26°.... If you don't like the weather in the Finger Lakes, just wait a minute and it will change... We have 4 seasons here, BTW, Almost Winter, Winter, Still Winter, and Road Construction!
I understand that the snow has melted up North of the Border...
Jeffrey, I take Janumet, a combination of Januvia and Metformin for my diabetes. I am getting (I think) 50mg of the Januvia and 1000mg of Metformin twice a day. For me I have had no bad side effects... Do say something to the nurses if you are not feeling right after starting on Metformin. Especially of you are getting it along with the insulin!
Time for me to call it a day. Prayers for all in need!

***Ray, that IS a nice pickup truck.
***Bear, interesting bit of history on that rail.
***Ulrich, beautiful and picturesque view you have there. Very nice!
***Jeffrey, try to avoid a wrestling match with those nurses, they sound kinda tough.
Take care all.
Cheers! Rob
Evening, Janie - I'll have a RBF, since it's been kinda warm here today in Cape G. Thanks!
GREAT to hear from you Jeffrey, and that you're getting better (with or without the nurses'/doctors' assistance). Depending on the tablet you have, I suspect there might be a Photobucket app for it, which you could use to upload photos or your beautiful/handsome nurses and doctors, or your elegantly decorated and furnished room. Knew that you'd be back, and glad it was fairly quick, too. Sending you a PM, also.
Also EXCELLENT to hear of your progress, Johnboy! Keep up the progress (which sounds very promising just this far already).
Sorry for my being absent so long from here. W**k has been suuuuuch fun! One of my co-workers in the walk-in clinic (with whom I w**ked until last October) is out due to some foot surgery (think of it as the foot equivalent of carpal tunnel), so they pulled me back upstairs three days in the week (the worst 3 days they could pick, of course). And this coming Monday afternoon, I'm supposed to ride about 3-4 hours for some training. And last Friday was no prize-winner (had me seriously considering how soon I could... make a change); pretty much what's called a 'toxic w**k environment'. I try telling myself that I'm fortunate to have a job, but that's not a lot of consolation this week.
Have been trying to do some troubleshooting an upgrade I installed on my laptop (swapped out the DVD drive to an external case, and put a solid-state drive in its place). It's functioning mostly good, except the fans are running full-out mostly (I think some connection isn't reading/transmitting a signal correctly. I will likely take it by the repair techs where I bought it either next weekend or the one after Easter to have them see about replacing a cable and some little mini-boards).
Good to see that several of our longer-time Diners have returned (besides me) - even Duke took a break from his to chime in!
Ulrich - the drawings look great on the wharf/pier and buildings! I'm sure you will do a great job on them (and good to hear about the translation w**k that is helping you with some funds for that).
Ray - not quite what you were asking on your photos, but the _photo_ that I like best is #2 - for a bit of the reasons someone (CB&Q Garry?) said, that the caboose helps the composition and the way the eye follows the picture's lines. I'd say the figures you used help things look like the right time period. Top notch job (as is your usual)!
And Galaxy, thank you for keeping up with your morning posts. I like them.
Barry, glad to hear you are doing some better, though we'd all prefer that the docs didn't have to do the double bypass. Keep taking care of yourself and staying healthy!
Hopefully, if I get some of those w**k tasks done, I hope to stop by tomorrow afternoon. Prayers for all those who are healing up (or in need of more healing), as well as the other needs mentioned in here.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape G.
morning coffee...
Good Morning!
Sunday again! Time for my big, high fat, high cholestorol greasy breakfast! Make that a stack of pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausages, buttered toast & jams, a tall glass of OJ (something needs to appear healthy in this breakfast) and gallons of coffee, please.
I did not catch much sleep last night. My heart went on a roller-coaster again. Got up at 3 am and have been up since! I made use of the time to prepare a drawing of the depot, which is loosely based on on the Strong, MA depot, just a tad smaller.
Sketching it went pretty fast, more of a copy & paste and mirror job. Not a big building, w*rk place for just 1 station agent, handling tickets and express freight. Not much going on in Keg Harbor, as times are bad in the era I model.
Jim - nice of you to drop by for a moment. Don´t let your w*rk take the fun out of life (i.e. MRRing).
Continuing prayers for Barry, Jeff, Johnboy and all others needing our support!
Have a great Sunday!

Have a terrific day all.
Good morning. High today will be 78 with a 50+% chance of thunderstorms. I can hear some rumbling already. Blood sugar this morning was 258. New meds ain't working. Breakfast this morning was good with the exception of the grits. Not only could I stand a spoon up in it, I could spread butter on it like it was toast. It had to be cut with a knife and fork. Hopefully lunch will be better. If not I'll be raiding the bowl of homemade cookies my sister brought to me.
Jeff great to have you back, I'll pick up the tab for the TOP and maybe we can "rustle"up some decent "Grits" Hope they get those meds squared away.
Not much in trains lately, a heavy schedule w/ w**k lately. Have to finish jobs before leaving for my son's wedding @ St John's in 2 weeks. A week at a beautiful "Villa" and should be an awesome ceremony at the old sugar plantation.
Prayers for all those in need.

Lunch was turkey, dressing, green beans, a roll and cake. Problem was it was very salty. I had a grilled cheese sandwich afterward to help kill the aftertaste. Nothing happening otherwise. On or more of the new meds is making me very tired. I have no energy for anything. Gonna get some sleep now.
Jeffrey:
I sent you a PM.
Awaiting a response, unless you cna't do Pms on the tablet.
Thanks,

We attended a train show this morning. I ended up not buying anything, but I usually don't find anything I'm interested in. But I still like going there and it supports a model train club, so I pay admission and buy some raffle tickets. It's not a large show, and unfortunately, it seems the number of vendors is shrinking the last couple of shows. Seems to be the way these things are going lately.
On the way home, we stopped for a hamburger, and as we were right across the tracks from where we usually railfan (some surprise hey), we decided to stay awhile. In 1½ we saw 5 trains and a group of 5 engines running light. 3 intermodal, 2 mixed and 1 consisting of all empty gons. Also caught some nice foreign power that I haven't seen before. A BC Rail D8-40CM. I don't know much about BC Rail, so I'll have to look it up on the internet tonight. Maybe some of you folks from the far north will know something about it. I seem to be having a lot of luck lately catching different road names and heritage units.
Stay well and enjoy the coming week...
Afternoon folks!
Chloe, I'll have a piece of the Strawberry Rhubarb Pie with some cool whip on top, and a cup of decaf to tide me over to dinner. Did you know that all the cool whip out there is transported by rail from the factory in Avon, NY by the L A & L RR?
Actually very warm in the house even with a bunch of windows open... Feels good. I have been cleaning up and putting away tools, supplies, etc down in the layout room this afternoon. Of course I did make it to church this morning. Excellent Palm Sunday Service I might add! The President of the MLK Committee just stopped by to pick up the applications for the Scholarships. This gentleman has two full time jobs at the moment. He is a manager for Time Warner Cable here, and also a Pastor of one of the Black Churches in town. I think it is wearing him down a bit.... I don't know how he gets everything done!
Need to get back to the cleaning down cellar. I need to get it cleaned and up and running before we cut over to NCE on Wednesday. Tuesday is pretty much shot as I will be at church most of the day working with a sound company testing out all out equipment. Since we got a direct hit from lightning a couple years ago, we have encountered several problems with the system and we want to make sure there are no new items before we move ahead with plans to adjust the acoustics in the Sanctuary.
Later!
Good evening/afternoon...
Nice to see Jeff posting again!!!
We are sitting outside on our back deck watching the birds here...anyone noticing any leaves budding out yet in their various venues of occurences? None here yet...even the kitteh bits are missing....
Did a bit of walking around the neighbourhood here..took the camera and took some shots of the CN/CP lines here....
Welb, better get up and fiddle with some noises tonight...heeheehee....

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the kind words on my wifes grandfather. The funeral is tomorrow, he didnt want one but the family is gathering tomorrow at the cemetary for a small sevrice then to the funeral home to have a get togther. So that will be my morning. Have some running around to do later in the day. It has been a beautiful weather wise here in the last few. Its suppose to change big time tomorrow dropping almost 20 degrees and a chance of snow on Tuesday.
Tonights dinner was lousy. It was something like masshed potatoes with ground beef mixed in and very bland. It took two hits from Tony Cashries creole seasoning to wake it up.
Lots of thunderstorms rumbling through tonight with lots of rain. Be back later.
