Whistling

G'd Afternoon Gang,  My this Maine countryside is beautiful.

Chloe, I know I'm a little late for lunch, but if you can rustle up a double denver with home fries, I would be so pleased, Thanks.  RBF to chase.

Garry,  Not much news from this end --- I'm still playing the waiting game.  I have had an Ultra-sound, a Cat scan, a Biopsey, an EKG and two blood test, but now the plastic surgeon says that he wants a MRI before he starts to perform.  And that's what I am now waiting for.  The mass is growing and putting more pressure on my ear, jaw and throat. Thankfully it is not REAL painful  but what pain I have is just annoying at this time.   There Garry, that tells you where this long wait is at.    Sigh

Cape Jim,  You were asking about my Son,  He sold his mobile home and made some money on that, although that is a story in itself.  I helped him move from Springfield, Mo. to Billings, Mt.  where he got a position as a Human Resources Consultant, (there is two of them) for a large youth detention and training center.  He is enjoying being back in the mountain and prairie air, and he really likes his position and they have found great accommodation at a reasonable cost so they really feel blest.

Railroad wise, not alot, but, the little campground at the west end of the north section (mountains) is taking on a life of it's own and really looks like it belongs there.  It will improve again when I get the highway and trail into it in place.  It has a couple of travel trailers and two families that are tenting already in place, so it looks like business will be good there.    Smile, Wink & Grin

Yougottawanta,  I'm very sorry to hear of your wife's passing, a good friend of mine here just lost his wife as well (cancer). She fought it for about eight years, but it finally got the best of her.  But it sounds like you are in a good place now and I am happy for you in that regard.   Thumbs UpThumbs Up

I am at work today and will go and see the Sawbones again after work to get the update on the EKG and latest blood work then we will be going out for supper with my third son and his wife and my grandson as well as his wife's Mother who is visiting here this week. Todd,  this will be to our favorite Greek restaurant,  no egg fu young tonight.  and no nice oriental waitresses that have such beautiful complexions as you describe.  But the food is Great or is that Greek.    Dinner

Thanks for the kind thoughts and prayers, I hope the surgery comes soon.

Great modeling being shown here as of late,  you all are my mentors, heros, etc..  Thanks much.

Johnboy out and back to work..........................................for now.

Hello All

Been away a while. Took a sabbatical after my best half took that last train ride to the here after. Boy that one derailed me for a while. Well there have been some improvements of late. Our house of worship had their annual fund raiser for missions ( we raised almost 500k for the next year) and as part of that my daughters class theme was - you guessed it trains. So I built a little 4x8 layout with an MTH K4 complete with smoke and sound and let them run it during their display time . It was a big hit. I was surprised by how many women stopped by and would just stare. Invariably commenting "my dad used to have trains I loved them and him : ). I was not surprised by the children who would stop and watch for an incredibly long time. They loved it to.

On another front I have met a lady who may be worth getting to know better. She helped me set of the train table for the mission conference and went with me top the Greenberg train show Cool and best of all bought me a $500 smoking hot engine !! Yea. Sorry guys she is not available. I am saving for the ring now.

Glad to see many of you still here.

YGW out until later

Good afternoon from my neck of the woods.  Hmmm, no woods, just office parks and roads as far as the eye can see....

Jim, I have two good friends from college who met their wives through computer dating, so long ago that they didn't have "online" anything yet.  I'm not sure if they put the data on punchcards, but it might have been that long ago.  So, there are definitely some success stories there.

Paul, I need a pretty good reason to drive 50 miles.  We do have more stuff closer around here, though, but the tradeoff is that my 15-mile commute home takes 30-40 minutes most afternoons.  Our daughter is about an hour and a half away now.  If she were closer, SWMBO would be dropping in "for a visit," and I don't that that would work.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

  Morning All, or afternoon,

Currently it is 46 with an expected high of 66 under partly sunny skies.

Not much going on today except for w**k, and paying a few bills.

Lion, I know 50 miles is really not that much of a drive, but if I were closer I would not have to worry so much about them making the drive. And less wear and tear on vehicles.

   Prayers to all in need.

Jeffrey, at what point will you be back in your home?  I'm thinking it might be after you get the prosthetic?

Definitely after. First I have to be fitted for it then it has to be made then has to be custom fitted then  I have to learn how to use it. So it might be Christmas or later.

*

Good morning. It's 63° with 74% humidity. The high will be 78° and will feel like 83°.

Well today I'll be putting an end to and argument my father and I had this morning about my weight. He says I weigh more now than I did just after my surgery. I weighed 255 then. After he left to go do some things he needed to do in town I had my step mother get out her scale. She weighed herself first as we both know her weight and it was right on the money. Then I stood on it and it stopped at 240. I weigh LESS than I did after my surgery, not more. Fifteen pounds less. Then I double checked that by using HIS scale. It too stopped at 240. My step mother is a witness to both readings so now we both have something to beat him over the head with. It also gives me another chance to tell him that before he starts telling others how to manage their life he better make sure his room is clean too.

No plans for today except for that above.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a couple scrambled eggs, bacon, wheat toast and lots of dark roast coffee to get me going this morning.

Got up this morning, gave Blakie his pills, then took my blood sugar.  It was 155!!!  I went and took a shower and made my (Dark Roast) pot of coffee and then took it again. 125...  Better but still higher than I like it.  Had breakfast, and went to take my own meds...  I found out why it was high this morning.  never took my meds after dinner last night.  Wonderful!

Sun has made an appearance this morning.  Nice after the last couple days of gloom.  Manét threw up on the side of the bed in the middle of the night last night...  I had to get up and clean it up as best as I could at 3AM.  Went back to bed and slept on the other side from where he had his "accident".  I am washing the blanket at the moment and will be doing the sheets as soon as I put the blanket in the dryer...  Get my permanent crowns out in this afternoon.  Have to juggle some times around to make the trip to Canandaigua to feed the boys up there.

Jim, good to see you back in here.  I have missed your posts!

Jeffrey, at what point will you be back in your home?  I'm thinking it might be after you get the prosthetic?

Later!

Jeff, Hey, are you living at your father's, or back in your place now? You do have a working controller for that Disk ][ Drive, right? 'Cause if not, I think I have a spare one in my box of 'cards' for Apple II's. Let me know (email's best, even through the forum).

Still at my fathers place. I can't even get up the front steps to mine. I sent you an email regarding the control card.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and Eggs Benedict please. Thanks.

Sunny, with a high near 76.

Jim-  They eat other things as well. Girl I dated eons ago looooved  pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, steaks, seafood, schnitzels you name it. Beauty about her was, if she could get it in her mouth, she ate itYes. And no, they don’t require rice at every meal which, by the way could be 4 or 5 times a day so Indifferent….even though they may not really look it, a 98 pounder could probably eat her weight in food in a week. At least it seemed so.Laugh

Bear- HEY!!! That truck is proof there’s Hillbilly Rednecks the world over!!!! Looks like something you’d find in Jeff’s neck of the woods.Cool

No specific plans for today. Waste of timeHuh?. Like yesterday, through a series of unrelated events, I got nothing done I’d planned othern the Church stuff. I did go to Lincoln and got the oil changed in the truck though. 30 years as a mechanic and now I don’t even change my own oil. Before I wouldn’t think of having someone do it . Now, it really isn’t worth the time and hassle to do it myself for what it costs for the dealership to do it. Yes the dealership. IF something goes wrong and not saying it will, it’s easier to deal with a dealership than another company. Been there done that. Well not me, someone I knew though. By the time things are added up, I figure about 10 bucks. That’s what it costs me over and above what I would pay if I did it myself. Now considering it takes me 5 or 6 months to accumulate the mileage….for say 10 bucks, it isn’t worth it to me.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Galaxy, you gotta keep in mind that my car was used when I bought it, and was a 2007 (I think that's right, I don't keep up a lot on car model years - might need to talk with CudaKen for verification on that. How's he been, by the way?). How long have you been looking to replace your vehicle? Besides, I figure in mine in the next few months (or maybe another year?), I may need to get a newer car to replace it. I replaced two tires in the past month, and another one needs replacing as well (along with the right side ball and joint...). It has almost 70,000 on it, but if it keeps finding things to break, that may be a problem. We'll see (for either/both of our respective vehicles).

And G, you're right - the matchmaking sites are not perfect, but I figure a big part of that has to do with 1) My living in an outstate (not quite rural) area, as opposed to a more urbanized area. And with the websites, I get some starting information about a woman, whereas at one of those 'singles mixers', I'd know a lot less to start out checking. In the past, I did have two eHarmony matches, who turned out to be women I knew from church already (one had some weirdness in her taste on movies, and the other was interesting, but not-so-interested in me, which is a hazard of dating in general). Besides, I figure that there is One wiser than me, who's over the whole process anyway, and I trust that He can bring her from around the world if she is "the one" for me... It's a process (and not a Polaroid one, either - for those who recall Polaroids). Wink

On the find my match thing, it seems strange - I hear about how men in my age range are in shorter supply than the ladies, but the ladies seem pretty picky at times, like they didn't get that report...OopsSmile, Wink & Grin

[Edit]: And while I've been long winded, I see that I've wound up with TOP, so Chloe, start the tab, and I'll settle up tomorrow when I get in. Oops

Jim in Cape G.

Jim: my minivan is a 2006 with 67K on the clock, and will be paid off in 15 payments{5 years total}. MOH's is my OLD minivan {to put the high mileage on the older vehicle} and is a 1998 with 175K miles on it, and is the typical "caravan rust bucket" for that particular model style. {Our neighbors have an 02 and hers is actually more rusty than ours}. . By the time we get a 3 year loan paid off for the new one to replace the 98,, the 06 will be 12 years old too, so it will need to be replaced, or at least think about it, I am sure.

i tried some early versions of online dating before MOH, and found 1] the people were NOT as they represented themselves 2} that they would often NOT show up as appointed time 3} LIED through their eye teeth about things and stuff 4} OFTEN, the only ones suitable to me WERE outside my general city area or in other ciities. I had to think: am I willing to move THERE if we hit it off and I am asked to do so? Just in case they won't move here. Well, What I was saying in general is that don't place faith in the online dating ONLY.you may get a blurb about them, but it could all be LIES. Keep looking, I know lonliness is NOT good companyh, but I'd rather wait {like I did} than settle!

EDIT HERE TOO: Don't you hate when a long post gets you tippy-top?

Sir Madog

Just picture me explaining some weathering techniques with my German accent - like Herr Otto Flick in the British comedy series ´Allo, ´Allo. "Ve have different vays of making that loco look as old as a German Panzer in the Battle of the Bulge" That video would certainly make it into the comedy charts...

Don´t get me wrong - I´d love to team up with Neil, David, Dana, Cody and the rest of the Kalmbach staff, contributing to my favorite mag, but my chances on that are close to nil.

We ALL are in need of a spell checker! and My fingers don't work well!  "Ve Vould Haf to get uzed to yew uzing our language! you Haf good command of it in zat yew do well here wit yer grammar."

you would be "Herr Model Master Flick" and would do well if given half a chance...You could be the "mini RR man" wiht your min modules!

try this: submitting videos of you making models as a feature much like the Pele  features of some time ago {maybe even current} It would make them aware of your talents! Yo did well as a Moderator here!

just a suggestion.

GOOD TUESDAY MORNING!!!

Today is Tuesday, October 8th, 2013

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!!!

Today's fun limmericks:

There was an old hairy brown toad

of wood, he carried a heavy load,

he was building a house

but, oh what a louse

It just wasn't built  to CODE!

There was an old man who was weird
And said, "It's just as I feared!

Two owls and a hen,
Four larks and a wren

Are making a nest in my beard!"

Weird words:

Parergon: Work secondary to the main work; a secondary work, as in a second job

Bloviate - To speak in a pompous or overbearing way

Ombrifuge - A shelter from rain

Have agreat day!

Good Morning Folks!

What a night! I hardly caught any sleep - there are just too many thoughts on my mind. Yes, I have read Steven´s post on the job opening, but I am not sure, whether I´d come anywhere near the top 10 applicants for that job. Let me explain why.

  • I am not sure whether you could describe my model railroading skills as "strong".
  • English is not my native language - without a spelling checker I´d be lost.
  • I don´t have a background in journalism or teaching. My journalistic skills are at best "underdeveloped". I took a basic journalism class back in high school. A few comments of mine were recently published in various newspapers - in my native German. The only "publication" you´ll find in English is my little report on the homepage of the Japan Rail Modelers of Washington, DC.
  • I am not a US citizen. Why would the folks at Kalmbach want  to go through all the red tape and hassle necessary to get permission to employ an "alien", when there are lots of "natives" around, better qualified for the job?
  • I don´t have the funds to pay for the airfare to go to the interview, let alone the cost of relocation.

A big Sigh

Good Evening, Chloe - I'll have a hot fudge sundae and a cup of decaf in a Santa Fe mug, please. Thanks!

And thank you for all the Diners who recalled me (you must be taking your ginko...!)Smile, Wink & Grin LOL Now, if I could only figure a way to get my posts written without taking hours and hours. Huh?

Galaxy, you gotta keep in mind that my car was used when I bought it, and was a 2007 (I think that's right, I don't keep up a lot on car model years - might need to talk with CudaKen for verification on that. How's he been, by the way?). How long have you been looking to replace your vehicle? Oh, any of you with iDevices (the Cupertino kinds), you may want to take your time before upgrading to iOS 7(.0.2). I upgraded my iPod Touch, and am not sold on it - but I found out that you can't "downgrade" to iOS 6 anymore once you go to 7... Luckily, I did not upgrade the old iPad 2 (and I'm keeping it full, since so long as it doesn't have space to download the 7.x update, I can stay with 6.1.3 on it). I suspect that it, being older, may not run 7 as well as the iPTouch does (and I'd really like a mix of the features, somewhere without the spareseness and way-too-skinny typeface on 7 (I like 6's typefaces better), but with some of the features of 7 (I like switching apps in 7 - a bit fewer steps)). I may eventually give in on the iPad2, but I'll hold out as long as possible - hopefully, until Apple will get a better blend of features vs. spartan-ness in a later edition of 7... (Yeah, right!)

It's a process (and not a Polaroid one, either - for those who recall Polaroids). Wink

Todd, there are some Chinese buffets in our area, but I'm not that wild about Oriental cuisine. Besides, I hear tell that sometimes they change ownership/move/close up... Smile, Wink & Grin

Saw that my St. Louis Cardinals won today - woo, woo!! Go, Wainwright! Big Smile

Garry, I've noticed - from others' reports - that cats can be a bit 'territorial' or stand-offish about newcomers. Have you told Shelley about Sassy's suggestion yet? Seems I recall BridgeTom's cats took a while to warm up to the newcomer (trying to think - was that Oof-Dah the Norse Warrior?). Anyone heard from our California Tom lately? I think it had been a while, the last time I had been in the Diner.

Maybe Ray can give you some tips, as he has had multiple cats in the house, so I'm sure at some point he dealt with some of that, Garry.  And speaking of you, Ray, did the storms miss you and your son's place(s)?

Jeff, I'm not sure if I read through the whole HHGTTG book - it's been a while, but I still have the book. I did play the (Infocom) Apple II game of it, which I recall hearing wasn't completely like the book (but their games always had some quirky humor to them). Hey, are you living at your father's, or back in your place now? You do have a working controller for that Disk ][ Drive, right? 'Cause if not, I think I have a spare one in my box of 'cards' for Apple II's. Let me know (email's best, even through the forum).

Lion - do you have long enough of a season for oranges up there in ND? I saw yesterday (I think it was) on a radar map, that near Grand Forks (I think) they looked to be getting a bit of the white stuff (sn*w...). Best wishes on the signals - I have some Oregon Rail Models (got the name right?) kits that need to be put together (2 and 3 aspect single signals - my layout's RR is a smaller one). Hey, I thought just about everything in North Dakota was a couple of hundred miles away from you! Whistling

Paul, I'd love to see pics of your Con-Cor theatre - that one's likely made from (well-worn) old Revell dies, since Revell originally made the kit. I'm not sure if I have that kit; I do know I have the Barn and other structures kit from Revell (bought off deBay). Besides, I have the W-S Jug Band figures, too. Smile

V8 Dennis - We had about mid-70's today, after mid-40's last night. It felt warmer than that, but hard to tell, after the rainfront that moved through here couple of days ago (and bothered Ray & G's areas yesterday/today). Supposed to be in the mid-70's for the next couple of days (with the evening lows starting to creep up into upper 50's by Thursday night). Around here, I could use your push broom to sweep the acorns off the front walk in front of my apartment building - I'm sure the local squirrels (the 4-legged furry ones, that is) have been happy!

Ulrich - Take up Johnboy's recommendation and toss your hat in the MR ring! Thumbs Up I probably missed it, how'd your party do in the election(s)? On the find my match thing, it seems strange - I hear about how men in my age range are in shorter supply than the ladies, but the ladies seem pretty picky at times, like they didn't get that report...OopsSmile, Wink & Grin

Johnboy - I think you said, but I forgot (need to take my ginko...) - where's your son, now that he finished his degree in Springfield?

Barry, I'm guessing that mixing panel of yours may be a little expensive to replace (knowing your - approx. - musical skill level); the flat screen definitely will(!). [ouch] You got me thinking some, as my (tube-type) TV has been a bit flaky and showing its age over the past several weeks, so I've been debating what size I can afford to replace it with in a flat-panel. May need to calculate in a new surge protector. Is your power coming in on above-ground lines? Ours comes in underground, which I'm hoping diverts some possible surges into the surrounding ground/boxes rather than coming inside (or is that wishful thinking...?).

I didn't get to w**k today - had a combination of lower-right back (muscle, I think) pain, and (moreso) a killer headache this a.m. I called in sick, as I couldn't see me focusing very well at all in the office, and slept (couple of times) lasting until about noon. I had to go get something to eat, because (it was payday) I didn't have much at all for lunch, and also was out of something to fix for dinner (unless I thawed out some frozen chicken, uh, white meat...). My headache was pretty much gone, but my back pain wouldn't have been good to deal with at the office. I got money orders for a couple of bills and some cash at the credit union, then got lunch and groceries (always want to do those in *that* order...), paid rent, tithes, and took the money orders (to the mailbox for two, and one to the storage place), and came back home. My back was not feeling good, with all the moving around (getting into, out of, back into the car...). My back is feeling better tonight (I also picked up some Naproxen/Aleve when I got the groceries - toughest pain med in my house now). Hate to think of the pain I know that some of you Diners deal with daily.

Over last weekend, I also "downgraded" my laptop (had moved it to OS X 10.8.5, but found that for my MBP, it messes up the WiFi connections) - went to my last Time Machine backup (which turned out to be 10.8.3), then re-installed the 10.8.4 Combo update. Fun times - when I do that, the system thinks all of my apps I've downloaded (other than from the Mac App Store) are new, and the first time I go to open the app asks me if I want to authorize it to run - Duh-yeah!). But I think I have most of them 'authorized'. Still trying to finish moving all my remaining AppleWorks documents into something (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) that will open under 10.8. THEN, I can proceed to write my rules for automating labels and folders in Mail under the new system (which is different from on the older partition.

[Okay, it's safe for the non-geeks to come back now...]

Will add your prayer requests to my list. I need to update my list for the Diner, I think. But prayers for peaceful passing on, for plans on moves to go well (and smoothly as possible), for new jobs (or improvements to existing ones), and for healing and good night's rests. AngelAngel will continue.

[Edit]: And while I've been long winded, I see that I've wound up with TOP, so Chloe, start the tab, and I'll settle up tomorrow when I get in. Oops

Blessings,

Jim in Cape G.

Found out our DVD player and connected 60" flat screen took a hit as well.

Those connected to a surge protector as well? I'd be tallying up the cost to bill the company that made that/those protector(s).

*

Well today I put a couple of small details on one of the F3's. One of those is a step between the pilot and the engineers side cab ladder.

The Apple disk drive I worked on earlier had just a very small problem. One of the wires that goes from the write protect switch to the board had come loose, shaken loose in shipping probably. While reattaching it I added a toggle switch that allows me to turn the write protection on and off. When on the drive can write to the disk only when the write protect notch on the disk is open. When that notch is covered the disk can't be written to. When the switch is turned on the write protection is turned off no matter what, even if the disk has no notch, allowing the drive to write to the disk no matter what.

Time for me to call it a night. see y'all tomorrow.

I got my Apple disk drive today. It worked right out of the box but the write protect function didn't work. I opened it up, located the trouble and fixed it. Now it works properly.

Ulrich..read the second thread line "Job opening at Model Railroader Magazine.." Steven Otte has posted a job opening you'd be great for...

GO FOR IT!!!! Hear??? DO it NOW!!!

Well, we had a lot of rain move through here. but no lightning, or thunder amazingly enough. we got caught in it coming back from the Pulmonologist adn the hospital.

MIL- SHe went home yesterday with hospice BUT had to be readmitted this early morning...COntinued PRAYERS would be appreciated..even if they are only for her safe, pleasant passing at this point... MOH says has resigned self to her passing, we will see...

Well, we are looking into  a modular to be put over a MRRing space!!!!!!!, if we can get the lot we like for the price we want and the modular and taxes is a reasonable mortgage abouts to what our lot rent is...may get that accomplished! It will take a year or two though.Prayers for THAT too, please, not that we are greedy...you know...

Dennis, I feel a need to clarify and put a bit of balance/perspective on your comment about wind farms...

Among the big lies that windbaggers like to spread about wind energy, there are 2 that come up a lot.  One is that wind turbines kill a lot of birds, relative to other human activities.  The other is that windbaggers give a d@mn about birds.  Now 1.4 million seems like a lot, and probably is taken from a "study" that is using the worst case scenario, but still a lot of birds are killed by wind turbines every year.  That is why the wind companies are constantly doing research to lower the number of bird deaths from it.

To put this in perspective though, here is an excerpt from a paper published by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority Back in 2009:

"There are many ways to classify the impacts of electricity generation on wildlife. Effects can be direct and/or indirect; acute or chronic; individual or cumulative; and local, regional, or global. Each type of effect was explored in this study. Acidic deposition, climate change, and mercury bioaccumulation are identified as the three most significant and widespread stressors to wildlife from electricity generation from fossil fuels combustion in the NY/NE region.

Risks to wildlife vary substantially by life cycle stage. Higher risks are generally associated with the resource extraction and power generation stages, as compared to other life cycle stages. Overall, non-renewable electricity generation sources, such as coal and oil, pose higher risks to wildlife than renewable electricity generation sources, such as hydro and wind. Based on the comparative amounts of SO2, NOx, CO2, and mercury emissions generated from coal, oil, natural gas, and hydro and the associated effects of acidic deposition, climate change, and mercury bioaccumulation, coal as an electricity generation source is by far the largest contributor to risks to wildlife found in the NY/NE region."

Some numbers on bird deaths from a study done in 2009 (actually extracted from a number of studies).  Please note that when a range of estimates was given the number shown is the lowest estimate. Wind energy: 46,113; Nuclear Power: 458,331; Communications Towers: 4,000,000; Fossil Fuel Powered Plants: 23,960,000; Pesticide Poisoning: 72,000,000; Building Windows: 97,000,000; Ferral Cats: 110,000,000.

Also from the Journal of Integrative Environmental Studies: "...wind farms are responsible for roughly 0.27 avian fatalities per gigawatt-hour (GWh) of electricity while nuclear power plants involve 0.6 fatalities per GWh and fossil-fueled power stations are responsible for about 9.4 fatalities per GWh. Within the uncertainties of the data used, the estimate means that wind farm-related avian fatalities equated to approximately 46,000 birds in the United States in 2009, but nuclear power plants killed about 460,000 and fossil-fueled power plants 24 million."

At least eight birds have died on my little quarter acre lot in the last year.  Five fell down my wood stove chimney last fall and early winter (I had the chimney sweep come and put hardware cloth around the opening to avoid more deaths), and 3 died after getting drunk on fermented berries and trying to fly through the picture windows of my house.  There may have been more but the neighbors cat can no longer jump 8 feet in the air and take them down for her lunch!  Everything we do has an impact.  The trick is try to have the smallest negative impact whenever possible!

Good Afternoon.

Well. We had two good ol' thunderbangers go through here last might. And now my laptop AC adapter and mixing board are both out. Our surge protector, as per Mr. Murphy, has protected itself rather well..

Sigh.

Sir Madog

Good Afternoon Gang!

It´s been a lazy, do nothing day today. I could not persuade myself to do anything meaningful, other than watching a triple feature of my favorite TV program "Railroad Romance". That took care of about 3 hours of my afternoon.

Have a good one!

Ulrich my friend,

Take a look at the offering by Steven Otte , the first thread on the forum.

He is offering you a job to get you out of that wilderness over there and get you working for Model Railroader.. Does it get any better than this ???   I think not.

Go for it my friend, don't waste any time.

Good afternoon. It's 72° with 45% humidity. The high will be 78° and will feel like like 80°.

I'm not feeling good today. Woke up around 2:45 this morning due to an asthma attack. A bad one. I used my mothers old cure-all, Tabasco to get through it. It was cleared up nicely. However I was unable to get back to sleep so now I'm very tired. I've already had several naps and all before noon.

I'm expecting  a package to arrive today. Nothing important. Just an A2M0003 Disk II disk drive. I don't see anything train related getting done today.

Good Afternoon Gang!

Janie, just coffee for me this time, if you please...

It´s been a lazy, do nothing day today. I could not persuade myself to do anything meaningful, other than watching a triple feature of my favorite TV program "Railroad Romance". That took care of about 3 hours of my afternoon. Supper time is ahead of us - it´ll be Petra´s prize winning chili Dinner

Jim - glad to see you back. I am sorry to hear about your lack of finding a partner. These things are dang difficult in our age. I am just happy I don´t have to be on the road for that matter. Petra and I are in our 30th year now, which is a blessing.

Flip - does DerJohn still has his old email address?

Have a good one!

Speaking of daughters, Mine came over yesterday for enchilada's and rice. They want me to move into Carson City, so we can be closer, and visit more often. Right now it is a 50 mile drive one way. My plan is to make that move after I retire in 1187 days, but who is counting. By that time my credit should be a little better, and this house should gain a little more value.

50 miles! That is like next door. You don't want to be too close, but 50 miles? It is a 50 mile round trip if we want to go to Walmart. It is 160 mile round trip to go to Hobby Lobby or to Menards.
