I am definitely 'Delassation' - Tired, pooped, fatigued!
Why? I did the grocery store this early AM as usual.
Then I put away the groceries.
THen I did the Pharmacy.
Then I did the bank.
Then I did the Credit Union.
Then I did free bread day.
Then I went for a hairs-cut {all 4 of them}
Then I marianated the Beef for Terry-Yucky!
You know usually hte injections for my back pain are helpful, Not this time, there are times like now I can hardly move, let alone walk. Betwixt my back and hip, I cannot walk much, at least I don't trip over my own...AGLETs...'course my shoes are velcro!
Now for a well deserved nap, though lately I cannot sleep well due ot the pain.
Chew on two willow barks scraps and call me in the morning!

Afternoon Folks!
Chloe, just a tall glass of lemonade right now...
Looks Like G has already had a busy day. All I did done so far is 2 loads of wash (one more to go), vacuumed the living room, and did the grocery shopping. My DIL ran into me while grocery shopping... Literally with her shopping cart.... She cried on my shoulder about some confrontations she has been having with the live in Mom who has been making some family decisions that she should not be doing... On this one I agree with DIL. her Mom is a nice lady but likes to take over and tell DIL how she is supposed to be doing things. I try my best to be a good FIL and keep out of their business . I figure they are adults and should be able to make their own decisions. When I am asked for advise, I give it and then shut up! That may be why I am always welcome over there....
Oh, John Boy, I wanted to mention earlier how glad I am that there no cancer involved! Hope the surgeon gets the ifection unfer control ASAP. Know you are in my prayers.

Well fellas, I applied to micro train lines. N scale trains are just as good as real trains if not better! I sent a resume and a cover letter to them. I hope to get a response, maybe even a job there!

I was looking around on Ebay today and came across a metal Varney F3 dummy A unit for $15 and snapped it up. I have a dummy Athearn frame coming for it. The frame is just to have an Athearn frame to set the shell on and to make sure I cut away the proper places on the shell so it fits on the frame. At some point in the future I'll be putting the shell on one of my Athearn clone F unit Frankenstein chassis. I've also been looking around for more cheap Athearn and Athearn clone F7's to use as future parts sources.
Good evening ..
Paul ... Best wishes for your cataract surgery next week. Prayers for you.
Gary BN24..... I hope the job idea proves to be successful.
Ray ..... It's wise of you to stay out of the younger generations decision making. There are times I know when that can be very hard to do especially if they are choosing a path leading to a potential disaster. I hope your DIL works things out with the busy body mother.
Jeff ..... I liked the old Varney metal F3's. There were some neat model trains in that era. I still have Varney freight cars, but no longer have the F3's.
Todd ... I went to lunch with the local model railroaders here. We behaved with the waitress.
Galaxy .... That was a busy day!
Happy Model Railroading !

Flo, can I get 2 jumbo Sundaes, skip the banana and the nuts, just ice cream, whipped cream and a cherry on top X2........I'll sit right there, next to the A/C vent.....no I'm not overheated....I'm always this red Yes, I know, the A/C guy comes tomorrow,,,,,but I;m hot now! So is SWMBO!! Its even worse for her when the hot flashes hit!!!
I got her car fixed this morning. I got the strut assemblies last night. Monroe now makes them as a strut, spring, seats and mounts all pre-assembled. Got the right side replaced while she was blow drying her hair, knocked out the second on after I dropped her off at work. Later picked up the rim & new tire and put it on. She took me out to dinner tonight. Car drives straight and smooth as it did when new. Not bad for 201,000 miles! On the Mole front.......baffled.....physical hunting didn't turn any up, they just made open tunnels in the yard. Setting poison peanuts in tunnels only seems to make them dig new tunnels elsewhere......spent 20 bucks for a trap,,,,,,,been in the yard 3 days, no new tunnels after flattening all the rest of them and setting the trap over the newest tunnel.... Hopefully they are having a party over at the neighbors house!Or, it might have something to do with recent sightings of a red-tailed Hawk in the neighborhood too. He's been sighted snatching chipmunks, who knows what else.......BTW...where's Kitty??
Paul, Yes, good luck with the cataract surgery, we're all praying for a successful outcomes.
Gotta go (if I can) A/C man could be here anywhere for 7:30 til noon tomorrow! (I think he used to be our cable guy! )

GOOD THURSDAY MORNING !!
Today is Thursday, August 29th, 2013!!!
MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!!
Today's fun clean limerick:
A tutor who tooted a flute
Tried to teach two young tooters to toot.
Said the two to the tutor,
"Is it harder to toot, or..."
"...To tutor two tutors to toot?"
A palindromic poem:
An owl conversation that's silly and fun, by George Marvill.
"Too hot to hoot!"
"Too hot to woo!"
"Too wot?"
"Too woo!"
"Too hoot! Too hot to hoot!"
(Note this palindrome isn't 100% back and forth. It's the 1st 4 lines and then those are done backwards by the last 4 lines. "Too Hot To Hoot" in the middle is the division sentence.)
Every one of us here Deliciates- I guarantee you do too!!!-Don't you think you don't!!! {To make yourself happy or indulge in something you enjoy}.
Do you have a' Delitescent' spot on your layout?? I'll bet you might!- {something Hidden or concealed}
Of course, because of our layouts, many of us have experienced a 'Mycterism' - {A sneer; a taunting}
Now, go play with your 'Octothorpe' - {On the telephone keypad or keyboard it is the # symbol; also called the pound symbol, number sign, hash or crosshatch}
Another useless day on a another useless front!!
MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!!!
Knowing my luck., I'm top o the page.
Well. Vinnie had a word with me out back. Yikes. What a grump.
good to see you all . Got 2 sets of n scale a.b f7s today U.P & SF..
If this bills on me, why not try some porridge, it's supposed to be good for you.
keep on trucking
Good Morning!!!
Coffee and an order of biscuits and gravy with 3 scrambled eggs on top please. Thanks.
Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 88. Hm….odd. Weather channel says 91°. Locally, at least yesterday, they were saying around 95°. Morning weather I normally post is cut and paste from the NWS. I guess we’ll see.
I gotta watch what I say about the waitresses. I may be giving Garry ideas! No Seriously Garry, I behave myself as well. Most people who refer to customers as honey around here work in a gas station/convenience store or the checkout at walmarts. Ever once in a while we’ll have a waitress who says “Honey”, but it usually goes unnoticed by me, but not usually Brenda.
The Chinese girls call me sir if they call me anything as they do everyone. One has called me by my name a couple times throughout her time there, and thank goodness never when Brenda was there, but she mostly called me sir or nothing. WHICH is why I really doubt the one called me baby as Brenda contends. I say she said something to the effect of “here, you can pay me” as opposed to her version of “here you go baby”.
Karl- You have the same issues we have? SWMBO kicks the covers/sheets off at night do to some personal heat wave, then wakes up when the cool front comes through and accuses you of stealing the covers?
Dennis- don’t stock up on the AA’s. Soon as you do, something will come up wrong with the box, you’ll have to get another and it’s remote will have AAA’s. Thought I finally got rid of all things using AA’s except for two clocks. One in the dining room and one in the trainroom. Only have one size battery to buy except the D's for the flashlights. Ok, two. Anyway, Bought a new DVD player last fall…..remote takes AA’s.
Now I DID have trouble reading, let alone saying today’s tongue twisting tutor tooting limerick!
Well what to do today… Oh who knows. Yesterday I did go into town and to Sam’s Club but I walked out with nothing. Basically I went there for their Ribeye steak. They sell the best cut ribeye in town. But I started to think…”when?” Can’t put my finger on it but there’s something this weekend and next weekend is the Fall Festival so that’s out as well as any waking moment next week. So I figured might as well skip it and since we don’t need the volume of some of the things we did need, I just went to Walmart and bought the few things for $80. I still don’t see what I bought that added to so much, but it still was cheaper than if I’d a bought it at Sam’s.
Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Morning guys,
Going to be a warm one today. I have to vacuum the house in a few minutes and head out to cut the grass before it gets too hot out there and also do some laundry this afternoon. I should be good and tuckered out later
libaWell. Vinnie had a word with me out back. Yikes. What a grump.
Good morning. It's 75° with 94% humidity. The high will be 98° but will feel like 107°.Got conformation this morning that the Varney loco has been shipped and is on it's way. Estimated delivery is Saturday. No plans for anything in particular today but something may come up.
Good morning. .... I'll have coffee and a donut please.
Liba .... I'll not have porridge this time. Thanks. Have fun with the new F's.
Todd .... You were talking about AA's and AAA's. It sounded like a stuttering Canadian. .... Eh, Eh. ..... Eh, Eh, Eh ..... .......... (Ooops. I must watch what I say or I'll get cut off from Tim Hortons coffee and donuts.)
Happy Model Railroading!
Morning All,
Currently it is 61 with an expected high of 91, with very smokey skies. They say they have this fire 30% contained, so we will probably have smokey skies till the middle of next week.
Just returned form getting my 6 month lab work done, should hear from the doc next week what the results are. They have been good for a few years now, so no change in meds.
Prayers to all in need.

Mornin' folks!
Zoe, just a refill for the dark roast coffee. Had an early breakfast before I even turned on the computer today.
Had my two favorite little girls over this morning while their mom went to a doctors appointment. They were here for about 2 hours and were good as gold. I think this is the first time I have ever watched them were they actually played together with no arguments. Little one went directly for Thomas the Train, and the two of them played that for about 45 minutes. I also put on an old music video (Professor Iris) I used to show in my 2nd. grade classes. They watched some of it but it was mostly background for them playing with the Thomas collection here. Then we gleaned some vegetables from the garden for them to take home. They ended up with some zucchini, peppers, and a bunch of broccoli to take home. Both granddaughters love the broccoli!
Paul, sure hope they can get the fire contained soon! Terrible situation out there...
I have a few "must do" items to take care of, then I may head to the train room for a change!
Later!
Well
The sporran straps have been sent and should be here like tomorrow or Saturday. In time for the Scottish festival next weekend {if I can walk it}. MAke s the kilt outfit more complete. Also ordered a Clan kilt pin weight but doesn't show as shipping yet, may not as could be sold out just not telling me. Havet wiat. I wil wiat a week tehn call. SInce name {clan} specific, may nto have ti as we haven;t found at the festvals. I have a great Irish first name and a great Sottsh last name, and they may be very popular!
Laundry day today, woulda done some yesterday, but to sore after all the running around.
Looks like the parties to go with us to The festival are all backing out. Other things complicating things. Dunno so we go ourselves...
Well,
Later...
Some of you have undoubtedly noticed that your post count has gone to zip, zero, bopkiss even if yhe number of complaints I've received is any indication. The admins are aware of it and I hope the problem should be addressed soon.
Hi MR's,
I have been away for a while. I thought I would drop in to see who is here.
Chloe, I will buy RBF for everyone.

Hello Sue: Welcome back.
WOW! .... Sue's back! ..
Diners have been asking where you were! .... How's Larry?. .... ..... Any recent layout photos for us? ... . Have you had a chance to look in the DIner to see what people are up to? ... There is much to tell.
Everybody: ... Let's ride on the Northern Pacific North Coast Limited to celebrate. We can eat the famous NP giant Idaho baked potato with the RBF's..
V8 Dennis ... I looked at the L A news about the incident this morning. What a terrible story! I'm wondering how it went later in the day. Did the police catch the suspect?
Hi everboddy!
Thanks for the RBF Sue!
Well after waiting most of the morning, cable guy A/C repairman showed up at 11:30! Well, in all fairness, they DID say between 7:30 and 12:00 noon. But the A/c is now fixed!! Yeah!!
Finally I can get back to basement projects without sweating all over them,,,,,,,,,,Monday! See, tomorrow I've got a fella coming over who wants to learn all he can about sound installations. He wants me to teach him, pay me for doing that, then go home to convert his fleet by himself, rather than paying someone else to convert them for him. He'll be here all day I'm sure. Then Saturday a holiday party with our future DIL's family on the Patapsco river , Sunday is a 50th birthday party for my cousin on the shore of the Chesapeake Bay! Bizzy weekend!! LOL!
Keeping my fingers crossed too. Applied for a job at a local dealership to be the parts departments internet sales manager, handling all the Amazon, Craig's list, and ebay sales. Sounds like something I can handle easily!
Gotta roll out, SWMBO is wanting to clean out the fridge, which means I have to wash the glass shelves in the sink, and toss the garbage immediately after we are done. Yeah, when she says were cleaning the fridge,,we are breaking it down to its smallest serviceable parts. Might not be back til the morning!!
Edit: While the RBF might be on Sue, everything else is on me!!! Eat hearty gang!!
Nothing much happened today. I looked online for some Athearn F7 chassis to use as future parts sources. I found a few that I may get. Progress on the Varney F3A shows it has departed Easton Maryland. I have a doctor appointment in town tomorrow morning. Problem is there'll be no one here to assist me in getting there except my eighty year old step mother. I'll call the docs office in the morning and see if they can get by with a faxed report of the examination done by Home Health today. I doubt they'll agree but it's worth a shot. That's it for today. See y'all tomorrow.
Goooooooooooooood Evening, a bucket-sized RBF please 'n thank-you.
Well (way down, toads have again exited stage left for cooler parts unknown), Uncle Pete's full-size CNW foobie, the UP 1995 (CNW "heritage unit") rolled eastbound through town this morning ahead of the posted schedule (Yahoo group Ames Railfans). I thought I'd get to see it as I had an early interview in North Liberty, but alas, 'twas not to be.
Later in the afternoon, UP 6936, one of the DD40AX "Centennials" rolled through, also eastbound, on its way to THAT big RR museum in Illinois for some Labor Day event. Missed THAT one too.
Other 'n THAT, just another hot and humid day in Iowa. The high school football season officially starts tomorrow night (Week One of nine for the regular season). Many games have been moved to a later start time due to the high heat/humidity. The game I'm covering is in Das Peoples' Demokratik Republik of Iowa City. Fortunately they put multiple "misters" on the home sidelines, THAT'll help keep me cool, but I might have to pack some protection for the mighty Nikon to keep it dry. The mist also helps with the lighting, a bazillion water droplets makes an excellent diffuser over the field and buys me up to a full F-stop worth of light.
Continued thoughts and prayers for all in need, have a good and safe Friday and a better weekend.

Good evening guys
I fiddled with the rapido cars diaphragms some more and I came up with a winning solution I think. I filed where they snap into the body, removed the flash from them, and sanded the surface with a really fine sanding block. I tested them around the club layout and it worked great.
Garry, yeah his little Chihuahua mix got the middle of it. One of the guy's friends has one just like it and is sending it as a base to make another car as I have most of the details on mine.
Sue, Welcome back
Chris, nice picks of the UP's CNW foob. Up wouldn't send any of them this way, neither would Norfolk Southern. Just curious, what do you think about the NS heritage units?
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Evenin' folks!
Janie I'll have one of those RBFs I heard about. Thanks!
Could not get myself going today... After granddaughters left, I just chilled out for the rest of the morning. Had to go downtown to get my allergy shot, then bought a couple ears of corn for supper tonight. Decided to go vegetarian tonight so I made an nice summer squash casserole and the corn. Then I headed out for a Troop 1 activity just to see how they were doing. they went to a local miniature golf place. Turns out one Scout didn't show up so I got to play... We then went over to where the troop meets and had ice cream sundaes! Finished up the Railroading Merit Badge with one Scout in troop who got the final requirement done at the museum a couple weeks back. Since my sugar was once again higher than I like it this morning (141) I debated whether to take a reading tonight thinking it would be out of sight. Turns out it was only 121. Not a bad evening level.
I did get out and do a bit of weeding of a flower bed (the rock place) this afternoon and even spent a bit of time doing some painting of a HO Packard Stake Bed truck I have been doing.
Good to see Sue back in here! Sue, you have been missed!!!
Prayers for all in need!
VINCENT: Thanks! UP may not send their "heritage" units off-system, but the NS has... Ames Railfans has reported sightings of some of them in the Des Moines area on unit grain trains. I think NS did it right: took the actual paint schemes and fit it to the EMD or GE locomotive. UP had a nice idea, but the execution didn't always w**k so well. In other words, some of UP's "heritage fleet" just look better than others. The SP unit is eye-catching, the Katy, not so much. I think the Katy foobie looks like a Tyco circus train coming down the track with it's red with big white star on the nose.
I would rather they had done like NS and used the original paint jobs. In the case of 1995, I think the freight paint scheme on CNW F-units would actually fit the SD-70 just fine. If you look at them in profile, not a lot of difference in the basic shape. But, some designer decided to "push the envelope" and re-invent stuff. The only thing I like about the 1995 is the large "ball and bar" on the side and the nod to CNW's history with the "Employee Owned" herald on the nose. As for the rest of it? 'Eh, not so much.
I should add, the Iowa Interstate (IAIS) did one of their GE EVO-whatevers, in a classic Rock Island scheme. They didn't re-invent it, just adapted it to fit the modern beast. I've seen it a few times, never gotten a really good shot of it though. Also, the Iowa Northern (IANR) has a F-40PH they use on "The Hawkeye Express," a bi-level commuter train THAT takes Iowa Hawkeye football fans from a distant parking lot practically to the front gate of the stadium. Anyhow, they painted it up in a silver/maroon Rock Island scheme, even had an old RI shield made and put on the nose. Some knucklehead went and stole THAT some years ago when the train was parked, on a siding, along US Highway 6 in Iowa City.
Chris (in Iowa)
Alright guys, clean up your language{cleaner than already}, tuck in your shirt tails and sit up straight, and PAY ATTENTION! ...SUE's in the house!
Thanks, SUE for the RBF...
Speaking of which , maybe I make one to go with my SMOREs.....

GOOD FRIDAY MORNING!!
Today is Friday, August 30th, 2013!
Today's fun limerick:
A major, with wonderful force,
Called out in Hyde Park for a horse.
All the flowers looked round,
But no horse could be found;
So he just rhododendron, of course
Today's useless words {or Are they?}:
Boy, maybe there is still some 'Agiotage' going on: - A stock term that means the manipulating by speculations the raising and lowering of stock prices
How many of you want 'Batta' when you work extra hours???- Extra pay; overtime wages
How many have ever told, or had children tell a 'Capilotade' - A story that's hashed together
I am SURE we here all have 'Ziraleet' faces!! - Any expression of joy
Palindromic {words} poem:
Love is This and This is Love by J.A. Linden
Darling, my love
Is great, so great;
Recalling Heaven's calm above.
Fate is sweet this---
All after Fall!
Fall? After all,
This, sweet, is fate---
Above calm Heaven's recalling.
Great, so great is
Love, my darling!
MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!
