Lehigh Valley 2089
Well, officially done with the finals. You can kinda guess how that makes me feel. Big Smile

Lighter by the weight of a ball and chain?

*

Put the window glass into the F7 shell and put in the headlight lens from the old shell (old shell had no window glass so I had to scrounge around in the junk box). I still don't have the lower headlight lens. I got the shell mounted on the chassis a little after noon. So let's see, that's an Athearn shell, shafts, worms. Proto trucks. PPW can motor (or could be Mashima). Athearn weight. Stewart frame. Digitrax decoder. There may be some other manufacturers parts in there but I'm not taking it apart to find out.

Good afternoon.

Ready to take last part of Trig final. Feeling good about it.

However, I've just had some pain come from lower right abdomen. It scared me a bit, but it went away not long ago, so I'm not letting it worry me. Just want to finish the final for now.

  Morning All,

Currently it is 42 with an expected high of 74 under sunny skies.

Not having the greatest day today. Today would have been our 43 wedding anniversary. Many days the first year after losing a spouse are difficult. We have been through, one daughters birthday, that was the day after my wife passed away and was really tough on said daughter,Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, spouses birthday, Valentines day, other daughters birthday, Mothers day, and now our anniversary. Still have another six months to go, so we have sons birthday, and my birthday, until the first year is over. I hope it gets easier.

Daughters are taking me out for dinner tonight, so that should help.

Gary  - Happy birthday and many more to come.CakeGift.

Will lay some more track this morning before heading out to do some chores and an eye doctor appointment.

  Prayers to all in need.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of hot oatmeal with brown sugar, and lots of hot dark raost coffee to try to get warm....

I forgot to change the thermostat over to heat last night fully knowing it was going to go down to about 40°F here last night.  When I got up tyhis morning the house was in the low 60s so first item for the day was to turn on the central heat.  The through the wall heater in the living room has been off for a few weeks now.  Currently 40°F outside with a high of 51°F later this afternoon.  Dark gloomy, rainy, and windy out there.

Have to get my Shingles Vaccination early this afternoon and then decide what else I can get done.  I was planning on going to a Mennonite Landscape Supply place near here and buying a large rock to go in the hole where the pine tree used to be and get 3 cubic yards of topsoil for the raised bed gardens.  May wait until next week unless the rain stops this afternoon.  This morning I need to write my small article for the Regional Publication (NMRA) about division activities.  Shouldn't take long.

Happy Birthday Gary!

Read about the bridge colapse out in Washington State....  Some pretty lucky folks to survive the fall....  They would have much luckier to not have been on the bridge at the time, I think!

Best get myself moving...  maybe I will spend some time with the trains today...???  Hmmmmm?

we have a bit of an odd situation here, most likely different from yours.

It is a 930 sq foot trailer, which heats up like a tin can on a camp fire at the summer picnic in July. Front to back it is organized thusly:

KIT, LR, BR{computer room}, BR {train room}, BA, MBR.

There is a large unit 13,500 BTU in the LR that takes care of the LR and KIT nicely.  There is a 6,500 BTU unit in the MBR that works very nicley for there, the bath and most of the hall. The computer room and the hall outside it seems to stagnate. no air flow directly to it. being mofre or less center of the home. A fan helps, but not cools enough to compare to the other areas of the house.

Those two units pretty much cover the whole house, and often the MBR unit is not on, only when extrememly warm in here. {it IS on at night though from about April to November 30th.}

If not too expensive, we have thought of the Mitsubishi air flow ductless A/C units for the computer room and to replace these units when they go. That way it is similar to Central a/c but still controlable per area.

It will cost another $3k to have Central A/C installed to control the whole home.

So there you go.

Well, erm other things:

I go to  see the cardiologist shortly. Storm is coming in and a migraine is developiing so I'd best get off the computer!

Geeked

I know what you mean about trailers heating up like a tin can, lol.  We have a park model similar in size to yours in a town called Bancroft.  Its our weekend get away place that we don't use much any more.  We may sell it in the fall.

I got to go for a ride in a Porsche 911 GT3 yesterday.   A friend of mine come over with it and all I have to say is what a car.  I'm not a car guy but this thing is just a monster.   He is taking it to Mosport Race Track in a few weeks to see just how quick it really is.

We are officially running trains on my layout.  The 2 main lines are done and I don't have any issues with derailments.  I was told to let it sit for 6 months before I start the scenery so that is what I'm going to do.   I've got lots of building I want to order and get built so that is going to keep me busy.

G´Afternoon Folks!

Just read about that bridge collapsing near Seattle - yikes! Thank goodness no one was hurt badly!

I tried to build the baseboard using foam board - it wasn´t really a good idea. I´ll better use regular plywood Sad

But before I can start, I will have to sell a few rail road items I don´t need any longer. I hope I can raise enough cash to buy that Busch train set. It is battery operated, with a simple box housing two AA batteries. Now that will have to go in favor of a regular pmw (pulse-width-modulation) cab control...

Good Morning,

I'm in early as I'm just waiting to take my wife to a doctors appoitment so a nice strong cup of coffee please and toast with marmalade would be nice.

Mr.B, well I do know that Potion No.9 smells like turpentine and looks like India Ink. Thanks, now I have that song swirlling around in my head. 'I kissed a cop on 34th and Vine". Oh no.

Supposed to be a cloudy day and cool tomorrow so I might get some time on the layout. I have weathered and now just have to assemble a box car kit I bought a while ago. It's  a Walthers kit that's about 25 years old I bought for $5 at my LHS. It was on consignment. It is a wood sheathed 40' car. The kit is very basic but I wanted a TH&B car and the price was right. I also bought a CN version.

Well time to go so see you later,

CN Charlie

Happy B'day to Gary!.... When I was 19, trains looked much different than they do now.

I heard about the major highway bridge collapse near Seattle last evening. It reminded me of the US 68 bridge near here that was knocked into the water by a large river freighter in January 2012.. A new span was completed and installed by May 2012. The entire bridge is outdated and too narrow. It will be replaced by a new one. Workers are jus tbeginning construction of it.

Here is the bridge in January 2012. Our neighbors on our road were on the bridge on the second span away from the one that fell, and they were headed toward it. They and other drivers were able to stop without going in the water.

Here is the brdge in May 2012 being repaired with a new span.

TGIF I guess. Just another day to me. I don't know why but I'm very tired this morning. I think I may just go back to bed. No plans for today.

How about Love Potion Number 9?  It's not a song that's heard much anymore, but I put on real oldies from the 50s and 60s in my train room, to go with my Late Transition Era railroad, and that's one that comes on now and then.  And "cloud number 9" is in the lyrics of Neil Sedaka's "Right Next Door to an Angel."

Happy Birthday to all that have them and are willing to admit it.  I'm already enjoying senior discounts at movie theaters, ski resorts and yes, train shows.  Amtrak also has great deals for us.

Great modeling weather for this long weekend here in New England - chilly, clouds, rain, fog, thundershowers....what's not to love?  After last weekend's graduation, I've got some catching up to do on layout work.  It's time to get the water done around the carfloat terminal, so I'll be filling, sealing, painting and finally adding Envirotex to the bases of the carfloat and the apron, which are separate so that the carfloat can be removed as a casette and used as a sort of staging.

Thebarnet- Late congrats on the marriage! Gaming……a guy I wo*k with plays those games.  Warcraft and something else…Confused.can’t think of it. Anway, he talks about this and that and it’s like talking Greek to me. He tries to explain how it works but I guess I just don’t get it. There are things I do he doesn’t get either so, each person has different likes and interests. BUT, he does make “figs” as he calls them (short for figurines for those reading who missed it like I did the first few times he said it…Dunceduh!) So we get to talk occasionally about modeling and weathering as he does that to some of his people and machines. Mostly he’s talking about goorocks or something and pixies taking hit points and loss of all power and how he skillfully returned 3 times by a smork with 50 and some character that looks like a rhinoceros who throws pies and annihilated everyone. I don’t know, he plays several of these games and I get confused what he’s talking about.

Well the yard never dried enough to mow yesterday. I’ll try again today, but with this drop in temperature and cloudy days it’ll never dry before it rains again. No wonder everybody is messed up in the head. It’s not gonna hit the 70’s again until Monday and then Tuesday back in the mid to upper 80’s through at least Thursday (they say). Then what??....back to the 60’s again? Yeesh. Oh and I gotta dig up some black raspberry starts too.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

ON CLOUD NINE:

For some odd reason, the number 9 has always been considered by mathematicians to have some super power? Some say it goes back to the Holy Trinity since 3 x 3 = 9.  And later in Victorian times, a person who was all dressed up was said to be "dressed to the nines." So what does this have to do with clouds?

It was believed that clouds existed on a successful level of layers, and the ultimate high layer was 9. So anyone who is suddely super happy was said to be soaring in the clouds and naturally the level of the cloud they were assumed to be on was the highest...level 9. Today another way of saying you are very happy and even in some cases, in love, is to say that you are on cloud 9

Morning all

the English weather is being it's usual self wet, cold and cunning it was nice and warm yesterday followed by a bout of hail , in may  has meant i have to start wearing my winter coat

Yesterday was a good day one of my other hobbies is tabletop war-gaming both historical and sci-fi/fantasy Flavors and yesterday me and a few friends finally managed to have the Napoleonic era game that we have being trying to have for the for the past few months bear in Mind this game was planned for my batchlors party in April (i got married on the 4th of this month) the sides were France and allies Vs everyone who opposed them the game was run in my local games store by a friend of mine who was playing the role of umpire.and lets just say i haven't had that much fun in ages.my Highlight was My Swiss regiments getting mistaken for British units By the non french allies as there both in red

i think today i am going to rest yesterday was tiring i think i may do some layout planning and a bit of work later (one of the perks of working for yourself)

Apologies in advance for any use of UK RailRoad Terms

Gary - that layout is just over 1 ft. by 1 1/2 ft., so it is really tiny.

The size of a layout does not correlate with the fun you can have building and operating it. Actually, I find it much easier to build small layouts, focusing on a specific scene. It´s just like a slice of the real thing.

Looking at your regular 4 by 8 layout, I find it difficult to out up a plausible scenery. Most of the ones I have seen have scenes cluttered all over the layout, but not necessarily in a context.

Small layouts also nicely fit your budget...

I can't wait to see your layout, you're a master of illusions and if I didn't know any better I'd believe your layouts are far bigger than they really are. Yes

Good Morning Folks!

Well, our weather is not really Spring-like. It´s way to wet. Got about 3" of rain last night - too much for the soil to soak it up. No improvement in sight!

Janie, strong coffee in an IV bag, please!

I am up since 5.00am - I was not home till 1.00am, so I am still sleepy. Party work kept me busy this morning - I had to answer 50 emails that came in last night.

Gary - congratulations on your 19th birthday. So you are now exactly 1/3 of my age ...

Not much planned for the day, other than adding finishing touches for my two speeches for the Sunday conference. I may start on the "benchwork" of that little layout. It has to be a lightweight construction, so I may use that foam board I still have. Actually, with some bracing, this material is quite strong!

Have a good day!

Edit: I got TOPS - so Gary´s Cake is on me! Add to that the various poisons you´d like to have during the day!

Today we got a lot of thunder and lightning but not much rain. One of the neighbors likened it to a visit from his in-laws. A lot of noise and arguing but very little positive result. He always sleeps very well after they leave.

I got the Athearn geep horn mounted on the F7 shell this evening. That means I won't have to do it tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow, it's time for me to call it a night.

 Evening Folks

 Flo, Beer pleases.

Today went OK till I got home. Whistling

1 Wife called me at work and said she could not turn her car key to get it started. Told her to "Shake the steering wheel". Said she did! I got home, lifted the steering wheel just a tad to the right, car started? Whistling Then she got mad at me? Hmm

2 She wanted a Pizza Hut pizza tonight, so I tried to order on line. Would not take my order for some reason. Called the store, they would only give me the discounted prices if we order on line which I could not? Wife got mad at me again? Whistling

I just to beat to type anymore, see you all later.
