Good morning. It's 75° with 92% humidity. It'll be cloudy with a small chance of this afternoon. The high will be 90°.The activity for today will be mowing grass. I had originally had it scheduled on my calendar for Thursday but it looks like there will be rain tomorrow and possibly Thursday so I moved it up to today. Nothing else is planned. The word for today is tolatsukua. It means 'grasshopper'.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
Here is another one for Vincent:
It is basically the MR Great Northern layout, adapted to the space Vincent has.
A rather simple layout, which could be turned into a gem by a lovely scenery and a lot of attention to detail. I am afraid anything more would be overdoing it - there is no room for a decent runaround o more sidings!
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have a short stack of blueberry pancakes to start the day. Don't forget the NYS Maple Syrup, and lots of dark roast... No, think I have the Organic, Fair Traded, Rattlesnake Gutter Blend this morning just for a change. thank You Ma'am!
It's a hazy 82°F outside the door this morning here in the Finger Lakes and since it is now 75°F inside the house I just turned on the Air Conditioner for the day. Figure I might just as well keep the temperature cool rather than letting it get hot then making the system work harder to bring it back down...
Today is crunch day for the MLK Scholarship Dinner. I still have a bit of stuff to do on the Slide Show and a few more things to print. Also have to make a bank deposit and get starting cash for the cash box as there are people coming that still want to pay at the door. I need to find the telephone # for the person in charge at Hobart and William Smith Colleges to make sure we will have the projectors and sound system all set for our use. I had the # right here at the computer and now it has disappeared.
Ulrich I like the first layout plan... It appears to include John Allen's Timesaver in it! That would give him lots of switching fun.
Best get my self moving and getting all the stuff done!
Later!

Hey folks! All of you regular patrons of the diner, just thought I'd stop by on my way to a doctor visit, and have a tall glass of sweet tea. MMMMMMM...yea...that's good ! Thanks dear, and catch everyone in here a drink of their choice, and keep the change!
I just did a quick scan of everyone's activities the last few days. Good hear the spider bite victim is doing good, congrads to all the graduates! I was at our place in norther WI since Thursday, last week. Excellent weather, and the lake water levels are getting back to normal. Didn't get the boat in, I'll do that next trip. We did catch a nice bucket full of "slab" bluegills and sunnies. That will make an excellent WI fish fry. Oh yea, the reason for the doctor visit today. I don't believe the luck (or lack of) I have had the last month or so, with injuries. Last month was the episode with a 4" angle grinder, (the cast comes off on Wednesday, and none too soon, it's getting gross!), and this month, while finishing up installing the garage door on our place up north, I was working off a 4' high ring of scaffolding, installing the torsion spring. I wound it up a couple of turns too much, as when I took the clamps off, that hold everything in place while installing the spring, the door flew up, and knocked me sideways off the scaffolding, and I landed on the fire wood pile. I know for sure I have at least one broken rib. We'll see what the x-rays show today. I got to learn to SLOW DOWN ! I'm retired!! 40 yrs in the construction industry, working on everything from houses to multi-story concrete buildings, and now, after retirement, I start with this getting hurt thing!! Good thing the retirement came with an excellent health plan ! They didn't make any money off me this year!.
That tea hit the spot! Gotta run guys. Have a great and safe day.....!

Morning All,
Currently 58 with an expected high of 82 with gusty winds.
Stopped at H. D. yesterday before w**k and picked up a sheet of pink foam insulation. Cut it to size last night, and since I have a closing shift today, I will glue it down right after I finish this.
Congratulations to all the grads and soon to be grads, and their proud family members.
Prayers to all in need and special prayers to those in OKC and surrounding areas.

Just be sure to sidestep all the lanalana or the na'nana'na when in Hawaii! Not sure which ones there that are poisonous! And maybe the Mo'o too! {Lizards and snakes}}
Glad to know Gus is home and recovering well! Can't help but to think our prayers helped!
Been finishing the bracing and styrofoam blocks for my Thrall gons, Now I need to figure out what to affix the styrofoam to the wood bracing, and probably add something ferrous to the underside to I can pull them out if I want to run them as empties. I normally use hot glue, but I'm out. Liquid nails or double-sided duct tape may work... I'll test on scrap with the liquid nails.
Ulrich, I like the plan you based on the MR Great Northern Layout. But then the code 80 plan I posted has room for expansion. I might try your plan and see if I can add some "expansion tracks." Are you using Atlas's program?
As of now I'm leaning towards making it an HO scale diorama. I have everything except for legs, fascia, and scenery materials...
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
This should give young Vincent some food for thought:
Italian Roast coffee in a SOUTHERN mug, please.
Been chipping away at farm projects these days. Eventually I'll get back in the Train Room and start work on the HO layout expansion. Hope everyone is doing well these days.
Cheers! Rob
Vincent - how much room do you have for your layout?
Could you extend that room by separating storage of the layout from operating it?
What I mean is to build the layout in sections and assemble it only for operating sessions. In the meantime, it could rest on a shelf.
I had that in mind, when I adapted the MR project layout "The Beer Line" for N scale:
This layout consists of 4 sections, each 13" by 40".

Got the grass mowed. Now I feel like I've been hit between the shoulder blades with a couple of cement blocks! Sinuses are going crazy too. Now I'll just take it easy the rest of the day.
HOT AND hUMID here!
83* and HUMID...94%. Went to go get the trash can and recycle bin {separate times..the second time hotter than the first},...needed my emergency inhaler for only doing that! Pretty bad for a severely asthmatic person. Remeinds me I ahve to call the pulmonologist I think I also have an infection to tend to.
MOH asked me to spray the weeds with weed killer, but I will exhaust my self doing that..can do it Fri morning when supposed to be a high of only 60. then I will plant my merrygolds too. gotta go water them that will be a chore to.
Next will be to get the mail in the heat..hot to me here since we have been chilly for so long OR nice 70* days. IT is 72 inside with the A/c on low blow, I don't see a need to bump it.Of course the computer room here has no a//c so it is 77 in here. The front a/c takes care of that end, the bedroom a/c the rear of the house..the computer room in the center no air flow except the fan we use to draw A/C air into it which doens't work so well.
Of course last year we had this in first of April. The a/cs came on and never off til Sept.
tme for a nap....
later
LATER EDIT: I didn't know I had top, page 47,48 and now 50, boy I'm trying for another record I guess???

Afternoon folks!
Chloe, just a glass of lemonade please...
About 45 minutes ago I looked outside as I finished printing up some large posters for the registration table at the MLK Dinner that it had started raining and the sky was looking pretty dark and "funny" out there. Popped over to the Weather Channel site and lo and behold they had a big local warning for Geneva for us to take shelter immediately!!! Very nasty cell went right over here with 60mph winds heavy rain and golf ball sized hail! Some of hail hasn't melted yet... even though it is still 83°F out there. I quickly shut down the 'puter as the thunder started out there, then kicked off the air conditioner for the time.
After it passed I went outside to check out the damage. Solar panels are fine, no damage to any windows or the siding on the house that I can see. Cats were scared out of their minds though! Golf ball sized hail on a metal roof does make a bit of noise I might add!
Back to getting stuff done!

Flo Beer!
Evil Tyler / Work Front Day! OMG What is wrong with this man? I got Berated for selling a $1,000.00 brake job today! He did not like the verb-age I used?
I won't go into great detail but our normal parts supplier could not get the the need parts to Wednesday. I was told by Evil Tyler "That if I could not find the parts in the next 15 minutes he was going to take the ticket!" That would mean I would not make anything for the effort.
I found the needed parts with the first call I made! Started to order the parts and Evil Tyler said "I did not tell you to order the parts! Just find them!"
There is more to the story, all and all the saga took around a hour to happen! But there is something not right with this POS company! Think it is time to go too HR about this!
Flo, another pleases.

Good evening.
Just ordered a 6660 derrick car over the bay just a few minutes ago. Should be here by Friday or Saturday. Also got some small detail decals on the 109, so I'm rather happy with how today went.
Night everyone.
Ken: That screwball definitely needs to be knocked into the side pocket - then knocked colder than a wet mackerel! There's something derailed between that clowns ears and it isn't the noon express!
Besides mowing the grass and watching some movies I really didn't do much today. Some of the movies I watched were 'The Silencers', a James Bond spoof with dean Martin, 'Dr Goldfoot and the bikini machine' starring Vincent Price and 'Carry On Spying', a British spy spoof. Tonight I'm watching 'Murderers Row', another Dean Martin James Bond spoof. Tomorrow I'll probably watch 'Dr Goldfoot and the girl bombs', another Vincent Price comedy. There's a nasty line of storms coming across east Texas and it looks to be painting a bulls-eye on us. I hope it's not as nasty as it looks on the radar.Well, time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
Evenin' Folks!
Looks around to see if there are flashes of light outside while he types... Janie, just a decaf please.
Been an interesting day in these parts, it has. I got everything done (I hope!) for the Scholarship Diner tomorrow night. Between shutting down the computer every time a storm rolled through. Had several lines of severe thunderstorms today including high winds, golf ball sized hail, lots and lots of cloud to ground lightning, downed tree limbs, and driving downpours.
Got over to my son's house just as they were leaving to go to Granddaughter #1's Girl Scout Moving up Program tonight. By the time we all started out of the driveway another driving storm hit that incuded strong lightning, high wind and hail, so they drove over to the school where it was to be held if it rained... Got in there while getting soaked to find out they were still having it at a small park in town. So we headed over there. It was in a small pavilion in the park. Soon the sun came out. Interesting to have bright sunshine with a dark gray backdrop of a strong storm... Anyway, granddaughter #1 is now a brownie in Girl Scouts.
The little bear was a project the girls made in Daisy Scouts this year. She knows her grandpa is very involved with Scouts so she was very proud that I was there.
Jeffrey, stay safe!
Hope you all have a safe night and my prayers to all, especially to those who are part of the horrible storms in the South West!
Evening guys
I got about half of the thrall gondola loads assembled... The other half will be done tomorrow after work.
I finally got my Kaslo detail parts for a Rivarossi U25C. I have 2 shells, but 1.5 frets of detail parts... I have the CB&Q shell I have and one I got from jeff. I'm just gonna build one of them up, the cab on the CB&Q one is kinda beat up, but the cab on the one from jeff is in fairly good shape. I'll probably make the unit an ex-NP U25C... I still need to find an athearn trainmaster frame and order a set of bachmann E33C trucks. The frame will have to be milled to accept a modified Atlas U-boat fuel tank.
Ulrich, I really don't have much space for a layout. My folks are only allowing me to have this 21x39 thing around because I could slide it under my bed. As long as it fits under a king size bed, I should be good. I imagine 2 HCD doors could be slid under there, and the 21x39 could be used as an addition.
But then the issue would come with funding an N-scale layout when I've got a crap load of HO scale projects. I have almost everything to forge ahead with an HO diorama...
Morning Coffee in the diner with friends...

I've been thinking about adding a second heating and air conditioning unit to my home. Having two has its benefits. I've been looking at units that are installed in the attic. The 3rd floor is always either hot or cold. How big is your house? Don't the two units help keep a constant temperature through out the home?
Nice to see all that coffee Bruin....
Yes, we've got Bruins on our mind here in Boston. Not only is our hockey team up 3-0 in their playoff series with the Rangers, we've also got a young black bear roaming around in the suburbs. It seems this happens every year, but the newsmedia treat it like it's a brand-new phenomenon every year.
Hopefully, I'll be back to modeling again this weekend, although I'd like to get out on my bicycle, too. I'm still plugging away on the base for the carfloat. gluing the fascia sides on to the foam so that I've got a small wall around the edge to hold the Envirotex. At the same time, I'm doing the early work for the next big scene, the Empire Tanning Company complex. It's a Walthers "kit" with 4 or 5 buildings, and will be the last major piece of scenery for Phase 2 of my layout. I cut a big piece of Masonite to form the base for the liftout that will hold most of the buildings. The scene will be in the middle of a large loop, and I'll no doubt need access occasionally, so the whole thing needs to be removeable.
Or, maybe our daughter will come home to collect her graduation present. We're getting her a Macbook Air to replace her aging laptop. We want to buy it just over the border in tax-free New Hampshire, though, since it's a big-ticket item and the savings will be substantial. If she comes home, we'll end up cooking a big Italian meal or two. Yummmmy.
Ha! Beat you to it, Galaxy! Looks like it's on me for a while. Try some fresh mixed fruit, or granola with yogurt. I'm not a health food nut by any means, but lately I've come to appreciate lighter breakfasts like that because they just taste good. Besides, you can use the little yogurt containers for mixing paint.
