Galaxy, I'll cover this time. Feeling rather generous now.
Good afternoon.
Feels really weird to be finished with school overall. Let alone the fact that graduation is roughly 10 school days away. Will be keeping myself busy by looking at notes for the two finals that I need to take. Trig and Physics. Will also start applying decals to my 109.

Afternoon guys
It's may day off today. I spent today working on the loads for my Thrall gons. I have about half of the braces and styrofoam blocks in a car. I found my sister's hot glue gun, but it has no sticks... I've been using liquid nails and track nails to hold the bracing together. The wooden bracing holds the load up. I've had cars were the styrofoam load was unsupported and it sagged and they usually got stuck on the inside ribs.
I've played with some track-planning software and came up with these ideas for an N-scale layout in 21x39:
It's all sectional track (can't figure out the flextrack controls in the program), the top one is code 80, the bottom code 55. If I would go through with this, the power would likely be a GP7/9 and cars would be limited to 50' max. The only issue with code 80 plan is the tail track, which may be too short and stems from the fact that I don't know how long an N-scale 50' car coupled to a GP7/9 would be. I wonder what Ulrich thinks of the track plans. Given his experience with figuring stuff out in small places, I wonder if he can think of anything better or some improvements... SP&S to BN to SP&S Gary, any idea how long an N-scale 50' boxcar and a GP9 are coupled together? What about a 40'?

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Mr. B ... I'm very happy for you, and I'm glad you shared that with us. ..... I like seeing good news. The Diner should be a happy place!
CN Charlie ...... Glad you like the old auto carrier pictures. I have more. I was with CN's US railroads (Grand Trunk Western).
Jake .... Keep up the good work for the next 10 days of school.
JimCG .... Yes, I have been busy with non-model railroad stuff. Not much new progress on the layout lately. (Rats!) .... I like the buildings you are working on and the pictures you posted of them. .... As or doctor appointments, I will be in Nashville, TN tomorrow and Wednesday. I have appointments with the heart surgeon Wednesday morning. This will be routine followup stuff, and I am doing fine.
Good news ...... My friend, Gus, is expected to be discharged from the hospital so he can complete his recovery at home. His wife, a retired nurse, will assist with changing dressings on his skins wounds which are still very extensive.
Ulrich ... Thanks for taking time to post here. When is the election date?
Where are Lee, JR, Bama, etc, etc.? .... The food is too good to pass up!

N scale GP7/9's are made by atlas but have Kato drives, they may come with rapidos but will have a kato style coupler installation which would make an easy installation with MTL 1015's. they have T.T and Non T.T. models( I need a couple T.T. models for SP&S units).
Edit: Atlas N scale GP9 and 40' MTL box 19.5 cm
GP9 and 50' refrigerated reefer 22 cm

Modelling HO Scale with a focus on the West and Midwest USA
Gary, If I go the N-scale route, I'd probably go with the code 80 plan. just cause there is more to do. I thought an N-scale GP9 and a 50' car would be shorter than that. An HO P2K GP9 and a 50' boxcar are about 39.5 mm...
Isn't the Atlas/Kato GP9 longer than a real GP9?
Evening Dinners
Flo, Beer Pleases.
Today was not a truly productive day off but I got a few things done. Messed with the SSI for Sues paper work because they keep over paying her?
Spent $190.00 today to get my central air working. Seems the compressor was not kicking on due to a burned out capacitor, it burned out because the compressor was running hot due to being 1.5 pounds low on freon. Seems the A/C unit fan and blower motor was kicking on, but it really was not cooling the house.
On the bright side, I did get my Income Tax Refund today! Feds did take out $75.00 for the VA med's I have not paid for in 2012 yet (just found out how to pay a few months ago on line and have been making payments) but it more than covered the A/C repair.
Train Front Messed with the PK 2000 B&O GP 30, found one wheel set was just a tad to wide. While it still moans it not quite as bad but still getting on my nerves. Sure hope the other 2 I have coming are quieter.
See you all later.

Garry - Hope your friend Gus has a quick and full recovery. Isn't it strange how a little insect can cause such serious problems. One of the fire fighters I worked with was doing an inspection in a pump house years ago when he felt a sting on his elbow. He looked down and saw a spider which he instantly smashed with his other hand. So there was never any way to tell what kind of spider it was. It could have come in on a cargo aircraft from anywhere. Anyway, he developed a hole in his elbow the size of a quarter which took a little over 2 years and some plastic surgery to finally close it up. He always said it hurt like the devil.
Been a busy couple of days here. Saturday I got all the flowers planted which we bought earlier in the week. Also got the grass cut in the front and back yards. Sayurday night I hurt all over. Makes me more deternined than ever to get all those flower beds converted over to perenials. And now altogether class, let's spell "SUNBURN". What was I thinking...
Sunday was railfanning. Not to busy this week, just 5 trains in a little over 2 hours. On an east bound unit train of tank cars, I spotted a new to me hazmat placard. The very next train was a west bound unit train of tank cars bearing the same number. Looked it up when I got home and it was denatured alcohol.
This morning we left the house a little after 8 o'clock for breakfast, then shopping and many, many errands the wife wanted to get done. Never got home until after 4 o'clock this afternoon. But the day was a winner for me as I was able to aquire another locomotive for my Western Pennsylvania collection. This one is an SW-9 painted and lettered for the Pittsburg & Shawmut Railroad. And no, I didn't misspell Pittsburg, that's the way it was spelled for a short period of time by order of the Post Office. The railroad was chartered during that time and when the spelling was changed back to Pittsburgh, the railroad just kept the old spelling. And thus concludes today's history lesson. I think that gives me locomotives for 36 or 37 different railroads now. I certainly picked an expensive criteria for a collection. Should have done a little research first to see what I was dealing with.
Also turned on the air conditioner when we got home. Although it was only in the mid-eighties, the humidity was kind of high. Lot's of laundry to get done tommorow, and I would like to wash the windows some day this week. No small task as this old house has 23 windows, 2 doors with glass panels and 3 storm doors with glass panels. Oh yeah, the wife wanted to stop at the nursery to get some more flowers which she thinks I can get planted tomorrow. She only made this suggestion after I bought my new locomotive. She can be clever at times.
Hope everyone has a good week...

internet has been down for a while I got remainer of the wooden braces together. I tried some black styrofoam my father gets (come with the ammo his jobs tests) and it cuts better than the stuff I use and paint.

I got sunburned for about 1 1/2 hours cleaning off the enclosed porch and hauling to the curb last week. I wore a sweat band, but no hat...guess where fair skinned white boy me burned? I have flowers to plant too, Merrygolds... in the front raised planter..it needs work but I will be lucky to get them planted..I can't work it like I used to could...
You turned on the A/C? now? we have frun ours a few hours a day, but then again a trailer is a tin Can that heats up rather quickly. We would run it only about 4 hours in the late afternoon to evening..Fans do a good job for awhile.
The olderer I get, the less I need the A/C apparently..I didn't turn it on yesterday until it reached 80F in here..I used to sweat like a stuck pig at antything 70 and over.
Now Its a matter of also NOT giving my money to the electric company!

GOOD TUESDAY MORNING!!!
Todya is Tuesday, May 21st, 2013!!!

Good morning!
Thanks for the good wishes for my young graduate, everyone. And thanks, too, for the picture, Karl. There's a comforting similarity to graduations, isn't there?
Ray, yes, that's a Bachmann. It runs well, and pulls better than I would expect for such a small engine. I'm planning to replace the original decoder with one of the TCS keep-alive decoders. They've got a new one that's a bit smaller and should fit. I'd love sound in this engine, but putting in a larger decoder and speaker seems pretty impossible, although I saw a magazine article where someone had done it. Since this engine does all its work in the tight confines of Mooseport, I put a Soundbug into a small building with a decent-sized speaker. I plan to add some seagulls and maybe a tugboat whistle to the Soundbug, but that will involve tinkering with the code itself, a more time-consuming effort.
Best wishes for those in the tornado area.
We've got some rainy weather in the forecast, with thunderstorms possible. It's the night I've got to take the garbage out, so I'm not surprised. In the can is my old pair of hockey pants. Now that I've lost some weight, I was able to fit into the new ones last week. The old ones were, well, "heavily weathered" and weren't even worth saving for emergencies.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Good Afternoon Gang,
I just woke up from a short nap. I don´t sleep well since I am into politics. There too many loonies in that business to make me feel well.
Our weather is definitively back to normal, i.e. wet and too cold for the season.
Flo, coffee in an IV bag, please. i hope that´ll get me starting again.
Mr. B. - congrats to the summa *** laude of your daughter!
Karl - congrats on you son´s achievement. I bet you are one proud father!
A year ago, I was "glowing" with pride when my son got his master´s degree - summa *** laude. I am also proud that he got a good job - not the usual case nowadays.
Vincent - 21" by 39" is not a lot of real estate, even in N scale. You won´t be able to go for a bigger radius than the "standard" 9.75" minimum radius, which is a little to tight for those 50´ cars you intend to run. Any chance to go a tad bigger? Like 2´by 3´ ? If not, I will try to fit some old ideas of mine into that space, but it may take a little while...
Out again - politics are calling...
Good morning.
Will be going over physics and trig this morning for the finals later this week. Don't need to come in for classes that I don't have finals for. Happy about that.
Good Morning!!!
Coffee and a Denver omelet please, thanks.
My Heart and prayers go out to those in Oklahoma.
A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 84.
Mr B- CONGRATULATIONS to your daughter!!! Wow! You should be proud.
Karl- Great picture and you should be proud as well.
Well, gotta blow the condensers out on the refrigerators at the restaurant today. That is if I can get the compressor into the back of the truck so I can even gt it up there. Not that young anymore you know. I don’t have one of those small jobs though……could be a good reason to get one for the airbrush and maybe a few things around the RR instead of stretching a hose through the door and down the stairs. Aaahh, don’t use it inside enough to justify that anyway. But it would come in handy sometimes….hmmm. No.
Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Vincent - here is a quick & dirty idea for you:
Slightly bigger than the 21" by 39" you have mentioned. Difficult to fit something more than just an oval of track with some sidings in that sort of space...
By the way, forgot to mention. The 109 has been christened as "White 1". Has the crosses, swastikas on its rudder, yellow nose of a Luftwaffe ace and a white 1 beside the cross on the rear half of the fuselage.
