Good Morning again

Just coffee please. Not quite ready for the Sunday breakfast buffet after this morning thanks.

Isolated showers before 10am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 75.

Could do a good bit of stuff outside today, buuuUUUT…., Brenda’s laid…Confused..lain…..laid, ???, ah, this dy out TO INCLUDE…. A Birthday party for one of the Grandkids. Don’t know which one, but it’s one of the Son’s. HmmAt least I’m pretty sure. Add to that the grocery store and her required dinner out and that pretty much rips the whole day to shreds. Come Tuesday when I’m into things that pay, she’ll make some comment about the outside looking shabby.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

EDIT: Ooops, forgot to throw in a sarcastic Yes after "...rips the whole day to shreds"

Yes, Hammondsport New York. And yes, I did see that Model A that you were talking about. Also did see that caboose out in front. Liked the motorcycle displays that were there. Also, I meant to say "ill-fated father to the Skyraider", was one of the aircraft at the Elmira museum.

Good morning.

Will get that application for the scholarship filled out along with getting homework done.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of Buttermilk pancakes with fresh NYS Maple Syrup and a cup of dark roast coffee in my R&GV RR mug please.  Oh, and check back often as I know I will need a few refills on the coffee....

Fergie, I take it you will be heading back out to sea and you have been at home for a while.  Otherwise you wouldn't be getting anything done on the MESS™ these days.....  Hope you can still stay in touch while out at sea.  Been good to hear from you sir!

Todd, good to see we have someone around here that takes his time while typing out messages....  Some people are just too rushed, I think.  I have been known to start a post, get interrupted, and find 3 or 4 hours later I never finished it too.

Jake, I remember when my FIL was building that Model A conversion for the museum.  He showed me every little detail of what had to be done to be able to make it run upside down...  I was his only son in law who took an interest in his "toys" and so held a favored spot in his heart.  He was a fascinating man. He used to use an acetylene torch to light his cigars when he was working on projects.....  This is the airplane the engine was made for.  Well not the actual airplane, but one just like it. Pietenpol Air Camper.  The propeller on the engine was hand made by him also.

So far this morning no piles of hairballs to clean up (finger crossed).  Every now and then the sky outside gets very bright for a couple minutes, but then it gets gray again...

Later!

Have a great "vacation" from the rolling sea, my friend!  You probably will be getting your beautiful yard all set for the year as well, I bet.

If the temperature ever rises up into Springtime here in the Finger Lakes, I shall be building some raised gardens for my back yard.  I may also put in a large boulder surrounded by a raised area for some strawberries in my front yard this spring.  Depends on the $$$ I have to use.

Burlington Northern #24

Packer you could make ET-1, ET-2 or ET-3 If you do that with your NW2's.

Hmmmmmm ..... How about ET Phone Home? .... Whistling .... just kidding.

Howdy, everybody.

Curt ..... I recall being in an Orlando train store about 10 years ago and they had quite a selection. It's been long enough so I can not tell the name of the place.

Lion .... That's still winter weather. Did you get it from our good, dear friends north of the border? .... Here right now it is sunny, 73F, and somewhat windy.

Fergie .... Sound like you have similar schedule as does a friend here who is a captain for Tow Boats that push barges in the waterways.

Jeremy ..... You sound busy. Actually that is good.

Jake .... Sounds like you have a great opportunity for education. Fantastic!

Bill T ..... I have a question you might be able to answer. You're a signal guy, and my question is really more about communications. You might know anyhow. ...... The old railroad main lines have poles with lots of wires along the right-of-way for communications. My question is: where did these lines terminate.?Were there special communications buildings where the lines originated and terminated? What did they look like?  (Actually it was more than one question.)

On the layout, I'm making final plans for the final section. It will be about 6' X 16'.   It will include a reverse loop on its lower level tracks and a wye for the upper level tracks. This will allow trains to turnaround and head back towards the other end of the layout. ..... We went to dinner last evening with neighbors to the Bait Shop. We did not have Bait SHop pizza this time. Instead, we had Bait Shop ribeye steaks with baked potatoes.

Where are several people? Lee? JimCG? Bama? Sue? JR? Der John? CHris?  ..... I'm just starting. There are several other MIA's.

glad it's you, not us. We are finally having a bit of a warm-up towards normal temps again this week, BUT will RAIN all week long...Flooding here we come again?!

We relaxed all day watching Rudy Maxa travels the Pacific Rim on PBS's Create channel. He did 2 shows on Hawaii. Saw some of the places we visited there!

Did do a load of laundry and the dishes of course. Not much else.

MOH is bugging me about a cruise. We couldn't afford to go to Maryland for the train show {at which we would have no money to buy anyway!], let alone the BARGAIN cruise Carnival is offering..they can't GIVE them away with all the trouble their ships have been having lately! at $38 a night, you cannot stay in a hotel/motel for that... Notice how all "motels" are now called "hotels"???

We cannot afford it.

Oh, today surprise, surprise!!! MOH got a call form the grocery store to go to interview on Tues for cake decorating at THe grocery MOH thought was not interested as they didn't call back by Friday!!!

Now MOH has to juggle getting the LPN thing DONE tomorrow to get possibly accepted.  Test is the 24 for placement...lets cross fingers! And has to volunteer at the hospital on Tues as well! LOTS of things to do tomorrow and this week for both of us!

So..Surprises all at once.

since it will be busy busy for us, we relaxed today.

It was a busy train related day. We went to a train show this morning. they have this one twice a year, and we go to both of them. As usual, I didn't see anything I needed or wanted. Actually, they never have much more than junk being sold ridiculous prices. Who is going to pay $20.00 or $25.00 for an old Tyco freight car that's 15 years old, and could only be considered toy quality. But these vendors just keep draging the same old junk around year after year. Why I keep going, I don't have any idea. Maybe it's the thought of finding some gem that everybody else has overlooked. Like there's a chance of that happening.

We left the train show, stopped along the way to pick up lunch at Burger King, then on to our railfanning spot. Another good day with 8 trains in under 2 hours. One was probably the longest intermodal I've seen, but there was a meet and the wife wasn't able to count cars as the intermodal was on the far track.

We just finished dinner, which was a chuck roast, mashed potatos and gravy, sweet peas and dinner rolls. All washed down with a nice Reisling from Seneca Lake. Great dinner, except for the sweet peas. Don't know why, but we both thought they had a funny taste, so we threw them out.

Maybe I'll take a little nap now and rest up until 9:00 o'clock when Game of Thrones comes on HBO. Don't even ask why this program has caught my attention, because I don't know.

Hope everyone had a good weekend and will have a great week until the next one...

Well I had dinner with my father today. Chili dogs with pepper-jack cheese and Vidalia onion. I got the layout cleaned up a bit more and three of the FP7's are now in gray and black paint. The units were primer gray, BN and UP. There's two to go, a PRR and a UP. The Rock Island unit is staying as it is.

LOL, Actually I'm not at all type A , I do like to keep busy and hate to just sit around (well maybe just a bit...).  Unless of course I am over at my son's house and can just sit back and watch the cacophony of activity when 4 little kids in the extended family are all having fun at the same time...  I'm told I'm easy going, but do score off the chart for extrovert.  Sitting and watching the idiot box has always bored me, but with the lack of anything worth watching these days, I would much rather be doing something active.  As far as the garden, I usually have a good sized vegetable garden here, and I seldom waste my time on flowers or manicuring the lawn, etc.  I cut the darned thing, but refuse to rake it or the leaves in the fall.  Figure the good Lord put them there for a purpose and besides then I would have to spend hobby money on mulch and stuff like that...  Last year the old RR ties were completely rotted through at the back of the garden (Yard slopes into a wet area) so I spent my gardening time getting the ties out of the ground and dragged out to the street for disposal.  I decided then that I am getting to old to be crawling around on my hands and knees weeding the place, so I decided to try a few raised beds.  Weather didn't co-operate last fall so I will be making those some time in the next few weeks.  Will need to buy a few yards of topsoil to fill them and mix in some "Moo-Poo" to get them so veggies will grow...

Ended up going over to my son's house for dinner tonight (Sloppy Joes, French Fries, and Corn with cake and ice cream for dessert.  Couldn't get the Pip close enough to the house to plug in the charging cable, so i ended up burning a bit of fossil fuel to get home.  Would have had to let the ICE start anyway as the windows were all fogged over.  I'll be back over there tomorrow afternoon to help my son clean up the yard a bit more.

Got a bit of time today to get more done on the layout.  Put some cows in the pasture where the fences are and got some foliage onto the trees next to wall behind the upper tracks.

Have a great night.  Prayers for all in need of them!

Today was what I'd call a productive day. I got part of the layout cleaned up and three FP7's are now wearing gray and black paint. I also had a small pile of different types of couplers. I got them all sorted out.

Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Good Morning,

I came home late from Berlin last night. It wasn´t before 1am before I finally could call it a day. I am still wound up with what I had the chance to attend yesterday. It was the first party convention in my life and it was a great experience. It may not have been as exuberant as these conventions are in the US, but it had a great spirit, which also indulged some of the attending press people. We had guests from the US Embassy, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Embassy of the United Kingdom, the EU High Commission and press folks from all over the world. I got caught in several press interviews and found myself talking that same politnik talk that I hate so much - EGAD!

Overall, it was a highly satisfying event, which will certainly increase our chances for the upcoming General Election in September!

Now I´ll be all tied up in the final prep work for the state convention on May 1st, where I will have to do the honors.

On the family side, things turn to the worse with my Mom. According to what the folks at the nursing home told me, she must have been very irate not being able to reach neither my brother, nor me. She called the police and accused me of stealing her car. Luckily, the police called the folks at the nursing home, who were able to straighten things out properly. I am still glad I have a piece of paper signed by my father, who is the legal owner of the car, that I am entitled to keep the car or sell it in his name.

I am most unhappy how things develop and I sure wish there´d be something I could do to make the last few days or weeks of my parents´ life a more happy one. But, alas, thee isn´t a way.

Have a good day!

(Walks through door mumbling)Sigh I honestly think if you gave ‘em a free steak they’d complain ‘cause it was choice and not prime….(turns around sticks head out door and yells)…”IT’S FREE PEOPLE!!!!”. It’s an advertising website for crying out loud.Sigh People amaze me.

Let ‘em borrow your shovel and suddenly they think it’s their right to redesign your shed. Actually I do know someone like that. I’m polite to him, but I don’t hang around him that much. Kinda irritating pushing his…Indifferent. Oh sorry,

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and chicken pot p…..no wait! Jeffrey has done flung a craving on me. A couple Chili dogs please with Vidalia onion and regular jack cheese, no pepper jack. Some reason just not too fond of it. But you can throw some chopped Jalepenos on there. Not a whole lot though. Not trying to prove anythingSurprise. Oh and some macaroni salad too. Thanks.

A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 66.

“Air Camper?” Where do you sleep?

Garry- You have to get a picture of this bait shop. I’m starting to think it’s not quite as I envisioned before. IYRC, it was this vision that spawned my gas/pizza/bait station. Actually I know these kinda places are all over down South, but your discussion gave me the thought to do one so….I give you credit such as it isWink.

Tom / Dennis- I tell you why these things are $20-$25…Ebay. Well, not Ebay itself, but some numbscull out there who doesn’t know model trains saw “vintage” and figured that old toy would be worth something, as many old toys are true, and bid up to $25. Now, everyone selling one thinks they’re worth $25…. or more.Confused

Ray- Laugh I thought I was the only one who referred to it as “moo poo”. Guess you Easterners aren’t as foreign as I was taught in schoolLaugh. ConfusedChalk another wrongy up for public education. First Christopher Columbus, then no fountain of youth, now this…What next, find out Saigon’s not the capital of Vietnam? No offense, but sometimes I wonder if my 17½  years in public education was worth itGrumpy. At least you were in music. Things haven’t changed much. If you were taught to read music in 1732, you can still read it today. Unless it's Rap, then only the bassist needs to read mus....well he can probably just memorize it. The rest is.....I don't know what it is .  Anyway, oh you need to whatch the show “Duck Dynasty” On A&E (that’s a tv channel) 10 pm Wednesdays your time. You would find that show funny and worth…Huh?...well it’s only a half hour and about your bedtime anyway. I think you’d like that one.

Jeremy- Yah, the wacky weather usually fires up my sinuses and then….well gets nasty from there.

HmmYou know… now that I think of it, he’d have to be somewhere where they get A&E…so that would put him away from home at 10…Confused..maybe not.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Mornin gang! Cowboy

Flo dear,, can I get a cup of coffee in a Maryland Midland mug,,,some flapjacks and a side of bacon please?Dinner

The weatherchick says almost 70 today, after the morning showers pass.  Spent all day Saturday with CSX_Road_slug  at the Mini-con, attending clinics (one by Paul Dolkos on structures) , building laser kits and hanging out at the Fasttracks demo watching in amazement how easy turnouts can be made!Wink Sunday SWMBO got even with meSigh. 1st to Home depot  for 16, 8 ft  landscaping timbers. Amazingly they all fit in the Impala Whistling Then came the building of a retaining wall across the front of the house for the flower beds. Wound up with an entire dump cart of excess dirt, which helped fill the few dips in the back yard! The worst part though was drilling each timber with two a half inch holes, then driving 2 ft pieces of rebar through 2-3 layers of ties into the ground. Swinging an 8 pound mall got old, fast!Huh? Just have to do a little raking and seeding of the grass areas today. SWMBO can handle the flowers!  Sigh

Todd, What in the devil has your clock spring wound so tightly?? May I suggest some decaf? WOW!SurpriseI do have to agree with you, there are some numbskulls on ebay trying to get some stupid prices for stuff. Saw a BB, undec, 6 axle U-Boat with a Buy it now price of $125.00 2 weeks ago. Wonder why it didn't sell??Laugh

Ulrich, Best of luck with your upcoming political career,,,hope the parents keep it down to a low roar in the meantime!

One other thing for any of us "children of the 60's" Remember "Dark Shadows"? Yes, that TV show that scared the bejesus out of us, but we just had to watch it?Mischief If you get the chance, check out the movie, its was on TV the other night. Really good mix of late sixties, early 70's autos in the "outdoor" scenes. (it is set in 1972) And don't worry about the horror aspect. I found Johnny Depp's portrayal of Barnabas Collins to be quite funny at times.Laugh  Picture a 200 year old finding out about cars, TV sets, construction equipment, McDonalds, and Hippies, to mention a few! Laugh

Well, gottta start my day,,,,,,,cya!

Good morning. It's 66° with 97% humidity. It'll be cloudy with a high of 85°.

More layout cleanup today. I also plan to get gray and black paint on the other two FP7's (PRR and UP) before the day is out.

Good Afternoon!

Flo, dark roast in an IV bag please.

I am tied to my computer since early this morning. Lots of nitty-gritties which need to be taken care of. My supporting team is getting really nervous now, as we have to count with a lot of media interest for our convention on May 1st. This is all new for me as well, as I have never been into politics before (and never thought I would). I still can hardly picture myself to be seen on TV while opening the convention and may be later on being interviewed as the State Party Chairman

May be I can persuade Chris to come over and prepare a feature on that event - THAT editor may like it ...

Thank goodness the parents front stays calm - at least for the moment....

OK Bill, this has gone far enough,  Sure we have take out cups here at the Diner, BUT, you don't serve us regular clients who spend time in the Diner in a paper cup.

We forgave you for the cold coffee and the half full cups however this is pushing it too far.  Most of us have our special cups here and if they aren't clean, we understand and will take a Regular Diner cup instead..... BUT not a paper cup.  What have you got against us.  Some here might even go to Vinnie about this.  Super Angry

Johnboy out..................and looking for my LM&E sippy cup.    Lol.  Coffee
