Prayers to the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing Angel

Good Morning, Folks!

Did I actually say "All quiet on the Family Front" yesterday afternoon?

Well, it sure did not stay that way. Later that afternoon, the door bell rang and two policemen stood at my doorstep. My mother really did file charges against me for stealing her car, which isn´hers. Luckily, I was able to explain the situation and present a statement my father had signed. The two were very nice and thanked me for my unrewarding effort of keeping my Mom off the road. But that´s only part one of the ongoing family horror.

Part two is the nursing home calling. My Mom is getting ready to have my dad released from the hospital and have him taken to a hospital near their former domicile. A quick check with the hospital revealed, that my Dad´s condition makes such a move a not advisable one, as he will most likely not survive it. His condition is stable, but bad. He still shows no sign of improvement. The really worrying thing about my Mom´s activity is, that no one can stop her. She is  entitled to do that, as long as she is not under legal care. I had a lengthy telephone conference on the issue with my brother, who is a lawyer, and he explained to me, why there is nothing we can do about this. German courts are very reluctant to to put someone under legal care, unless the person applies himself/herself, or a medical doctor. As much as I can understand this reluctance, it does not help us at all. Neither my brother nor I can address the issue at court for a number of reasons, the least one being that it would foul up my intended political career. We can only hope and pray, that the family doctor jumps in in time.

It is a deadlock situation only my parents can resolve, but I am afraid they are no longer able to do that. I am very, very sad about this and it will certainly haunt me all my remaining life.

Other than this, I am drowning in political w*rk. There are a number of meetings coming up in the next few days - each in a different German city and all over the country. I am just glad that a friend of mine (ex GE manager, a real nice guy, married to a Welsh lady who is absolutely charming) can give me a lift each time, as I cannot afford the gas or the train ticket.

Have a good one!

Morning Coffee in the diner with friends...

GOOD TUESDAY MORNING!!!

Today is Tuesday, April 16th, 2013!!!

I will have the prayer candles lit while I am at home. There are the extra ones for the Boston Bombings, as well as those for Ulrich's father, and for others in need of thoughts and prayers.

ULRICH FOR BUNDESTAG!!!

Ulrich- seriously , I am aware of your goings-on with your  parents, as you may remember the FIL was the same for us! BUT, things Ironed out for us, maybe they will for you and your mother...I am surprised that IF I understand correctly and her mind is going {she is losing her mental faculties}, then they SHOULD put her under legal supervision. They do that here for those who are no longer of sound mind!

MAke it a GREAT day!

Is this a heavy weight; or, streamlined dinner?  How is the coffee here and what's the price of the sticky buns?

Two pieces of advice, Mark.

First, get to know Flo.  If you do that, all will work out quite well.   Bow

Second, watch what you say about the Diner and its inmates inhabitants.   Laugh

The one time that I took a playful shot at the Diner in a separate thread, I wound up flipping burgers for an evening as an alternative to washing dishes.  This crowd is forgiving, but you pay for your transgressions.   Wink

Well, you're in trouble already.  Speaking Latin in the Diner is specifically prohibited, especially if you get it wrong.  It is mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

Thanks to all who have expressed sympathy for our city of Boston.  It's a shock to see streets I know well on the TV as a backdrop for such an atrocity.

I don't know anyone who was directly affected by this, although one friend was manning one of the communication centers.  They had a lot of contingency plans already in place, and ended up using the medical tents, which are spaced about every mile along the route, as makeshift command posts to hold the straggling runners before they got any closer to downtown.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and a couple scrambled eggs and an Italian beef sandwich please. Oh, somebody didn’t eat their soup. Can I have it? Thanks.

A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a high near 56. Had a bit of a thunderstorm overnight. Nothing severe, but got an inch of rain of of it.

Karl- Someone else told me Dark Shadows (movie) was pretty good. I do remember it from my childhood, but just barely. I was in school at the time of course being sooooo youngWhistling, I rarely saw it. (just googled it and it was on the 3pm time here and school was over like 3:15 or some goofy time) I was, and still am, a habitual watcher of tv. If it’s not something I watch all the time, I rarely remember it’s on unless I stumble across it.

Remember….No Ziva…no watchaStick out tongue!!! Kidding, but yet actually pretty true. I’ve watched tv no doubt, but never was a tv "watcher" but for just a few shows. Never could watch those shows that required you to watch every week or get lost cause I never would know what’s happening. Though for the last few weeks I haven’t seen NCIS’s new episodes, for which I usually watch Wednesday on CBS.com because I w**k Tuesday night) That is the only show I watch weekly other than Family Guy and American Dad.(yes, yes, I know) Before that, the last show I actually watched weekly, was the Dukes of Hazzard. Before that, Starsky and Hutch and before that….Movin’ On.Hmm For some reason I liked that show. Oh and somewhere in there a short lived show called Chase. I’m sure there may have been one or two more. Not counting the shows that were on after school reruns there wouldn’t be but one or two. I like tv, but not hard to pull me away. I use it to fill relax free time I guess. Or at least what there is of it.

Ray- Oh. I’s gonna say. Only looks like room for one person anyway and I don’t think they had autopilot back then on those things either othern maybe a rope. Didn’t seem like you’d get much a restful sleep up there all things consideredLaugh. HmmThis all sounds like Déjà vu. Didn’t we have a similar conversation about this plane a while back

Terry- Free time? I had more “free time” when I was w**king. Like I said, last thing you wanna do when you retire, is tell anybody. Especially you as a builder…woo boy. I feel sorry for you the day they find out you’re retired and “have nothing to do now”.Indifferent Whoo. Bad, real bad.

Vincent- Roll around in honey, then lay near an anthill….oh and Jeff has these things called Fire Ants down there too. I think you do too. Maybe? Anyway, Fire Ants….hate ‘em.

Rich- Ah you know we’s funning ya. But we’re people just like everyone else. Sometimes the typed word just doesn’t come across and if someone is a bit miffed on either end anyway….well you know. But like you said, we don’t get wrapped up about it. After a while you get to know what they mean and how to take it. Or ignore it.

NP2626- No transgression. Unless you were referring to Flo and sticky buns as one in the same then well…Black Eye., I’m sittin ten feet at LEAST from you. And as to what this place looks like..well we’re still workin on that it seems. There sure is a lot of stuff in here for being a railcar of somesort.

We’ve definitely narrowed this to a railcar at least since it’s had to move once a month…..right?

Well I said this year I was going to cut my grass earlier before it became a jungle out there like last year….and the year before..and the…anyway, due to the events of this weekend, and due to the rain this week, and judging by how well the grass responded to the fertilizer applied FridayYes….I’ll need a baler againSigh.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Prayers for those in Boston and all affected.

Todd,

Yep, I know that and believe me I got what I deserved for daring to poke a little fun at the Diner.  Laugh

The worst part, though, was flippin' all those burgers as my punishment.  I have never worked so hard in all my life.  And just finding all the fixins' in the kitchen was no easy matter.   Dinner

Todd, I also have a hard time keeping up with "episodic" TV shows, but lately the miracle of On Demand and DVRs has let us get involved with a few of them.  Hell on Wheels should be on everybody's must-watch list.  It's about building the Transcontinental Railroad, just after the Civil War.  We are also following a few other historical dramas, true tales made up from our legendary past - Copper, Ripper Street, The Americans and now, Vikings.  In these days of reality TV and game shows, it's good to know that pillaging can still draw an appreciative audience if it's done well.

It is definitely strange to see something like this happening in  your own neck of the woods....
I live in the Binghamton, NY area, and we had a mass killing 4 years ago.

Almost exactly 4 years ago there was a mass shooting/killing of 13 people, before the perpetrator turned the gun on himself and fired at the American Civic Association.

Good morning. It's 72° with 100% humidity and patchy fog. It will be cloudy with a high of 85°.

Today I'll be working on applying decals to the FP7's I've spent the last couple days painting. For now it's just the L&A decals. I haven't quite decided on the range of numbers yet. I used '601' on the unit I photographed just so there was a number there. I was actually wondering where I was going to put the numbers when I thought 'hey, dummy, these are F units! Use the number boards! That's what they're there for!'. It makes for a good use for my label printer.

 Morning Dinners

Flo, Coffee Pleases, make it a Bill Sizes one.

I am on my second Liter of coffee and still cannot wake up!

Will be off to the VA Hospital in a hour and hope they don't want to cut anything off again. I have to get another job where I am not on my feet as much, other wise they will get to cut the toe off. For the new dinners, I had a callus on my right big toe that turned into a ulcer (open wound) and was in the hospital for 6 days and off work for 6 weeks. It will not heal do to me being on my feet all the time.

Rio Grand SD 9 Front. Made some headway in getting it to quite down! One of the things I do not like about Proto engines is how close the flywheel is to the motor. My pinpoint oilier will not fit in between them so getting any oil to the bearings is pure luck.

Last night I came up with a simple trick to get the oil on the shaft! I pushed a straight head screwdriver in between the flywheel and the motor. I was able to get the oil on the shaft this time, and the motor got a lot quieter.

Jeffery, I know you use ATF to oil your engines. Why do you think it works better than model oil?

See you all after the Hospital Visit.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of organic Vanilla Almond Granola and lots of dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR mug please.

Barry?  Sun?  Well we had a couple of minutes of it today so far and quite a bit yesterday afternoon, but right now it is dark and dull outside. Currently 61°F outside with mostly cloudy skies and a bit of wind.  Talking about thunder boomers later this afternoon...

Todd, yep, I do remember that conversation about a year or so ago IIRC.  Not sure whether the Air Camper was a single seat or a two seat (front and back) but either way if the engine was running I guarantee you would not be able to sleep!  They didn't sport mufflers on those type of things back then.  Whistling

Ulrich, sounds like the days are still, how should I say, interesting (?) around your place these days.  Glad you had the proof of your Father's instructions on the car.  I do hope a doctor intervenes with your Mother,  sounds like she needs a different kind of care.....

Sticky Buns?  Sounds good to me.

Have much more to get done today... before the thunderclouds arrive!

Later!

Not that it's better, from what I can see it does the job just as well. It's cheaper!  Look what the little bottle of model oil costs then look at what the quart of ATF costs. How many times will that quart bottle fill the little bottle? And in a pinch you can use it in your car. Don't try that with the model stuff.

 Afternoon folks

 Flo, Beer pleases.

Man I am just beat today, I feel like I worked a 12 hour shift and I am off today?

Some Good New's For A Change! Yes

Foot Ulcer Clinic Visit. When my PA walk in (Stevie) first thing she said when she saw my toe was "that doesn't look good". My heart sank, here we go off with the toe. Crying But what she was really comment about was how much callus build up there was. When I was there 3 weeks ago I saw Velma (also a PA) and she hardly removed any of the callus build up. She all said the wound was deeper and it was getting worse!

Stevie likes to cut, and she is good at it! She really went at the callus and did a lot of cutting! I was all so bleeding pretty good, so I still have good blood flow in my feet, all so a good thing. When she was done she measured the wound depth and it was not deeper, it was the extra callus that made it seem deeper! Yes

I all so got the results of the Blood Test and X-Rays that where ran 3 weeks ago when Velma thought the wound was deeper. No infection in the bone or in the flesh! So it is still healing!

The Mail Box. I normally hate hate looking in the Mail Box, 99% of the time all it brings me is bad news. Well today it had something good in it for a change! Big Smile Found a check for $1,000.00 in it!

It is the settlement from the fine's the Fed's leveled against Bank Of Stupid for the way they have treated and placed home owners in Fore-closer. It is a bitter sweat, all I can do is add it to the savings toward our moving cost when they foreclose again. I am sure BoS will not modified my current home loan, it would just be to logical to lower my house payment from 7% and $998.63 a month to 3.75% and $632.00 a month! Bang Head

You can't fight Stupid! I am sure Peggy works at BoS!

 Later, Ken

I got three of the FP7's decaled and numbered today. That was a little tricky cutting out those number boards.

Tomorrow, if I have the time I'll see about getting the other two done.

About 5:45 I went down and mowed the front and back yards. I found the optimum throttle setting on the tractor (they all have one, you just have to find it) and I did it all on one tank of gas. The grass wasn't high enough to make a bunch of clippings and I wasn't going to wait for it to get that high. We're expecting rain Thursday, maybe as early as tomorrow so I considered it a good idea to stay ahead of it. If we got a heavy rain on uncut grass it would be a big job to cut it. I don't feel like going through all that.

Tomorrow I'll see if I can get the other two FP7's decaled and numbered. Certainly not a big job. Just slow and tedious.

Well, I'm tired so time to call it a night here. See y'all tomorrow.
