Had a chance to make a few more trees for my layout today.

And no they are NOT doughnut holes.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a refill on the decaf please...  Doughnut holes?  Why sure I'll have a few...

Busy, busy day today.  Went over to my son's house to babysit granddaughter #2 this afternoon.  She was a sweety all afternoon until her sister came home from school.  As soon as sister got home we were supposed to get out coats on and head over to the dance class for Granddaughter #1.  As soon as I got back in the house after #1 got off the bus, I noticed that #2 had pooped her pants.  Now she should be potty trained, but just decides not to use the potty at times, like anytime she can cause a timing problem...  So grandpa too9k into the bathroom to get her cleaned, but couldn't find her training pants she still uses.  had to yell at granddaughter#1 to come help grandpa.  Of course at that moment #1 was changing her clothes (supposedly) to get ready for dance class.  Finally found everything and got #2 cleaned up, but then she decided to run around the house and not put her shoes on.  By this time I was at my wits end!  She got to hear what grandpa sounds like like when he is really ticked off and it scared the you know what out of her (luckily we had just changed that) and she took off running as fast as she could with me in pursuit.  She fell going around the corner of the hallway so I caught her, kicking and screaming and carried her to the chair in the living room and put on her shoes.  At that moment her Mom came in the door and was not happy we hadn't left for dance class.  Now both granddaughters figured they best start acting better and behave!  Within a couple minutes #1 and grandpa left for dance class, Mom and #2 stayed home making #2 quite unhappy again as she loves to go along and play with the other kids!

The dance place was packed with about several moms and about 14 little kids too young to be in lessons yet, toys flying everywhere, and lots of fun to be had...  Got back home just as dinner came out of the oven and I got to sit and have #2 read me a book she had (she is a kindergartener who is reading way beyond what I used to think any kindergartener could do).  Then I headed out for a fairly long Property committee meeting.  I did manage to drive out to my son's house on EV, recharge the car there, and get to the meeting and most of the way home on all electric as well.  The ICE fired up only once on my command to defog the windows of the car.  Got home and still had 1.6 miles of EV left.  I probably would not have quite made it in EV anyway, but it would have been close.  Not bad for the day.

Just went outside to plug in the car for the night and heard music to my ears!  One of the Diesels on the FGLK a couple miles away was blowing for a crossing...  YES!

Other than going down cellar this morning to start the siphon and dry up the water on the cellar floor, I didn't get anywhere near the layout today!  Friday is supposed to be another gloomy day with lots of liquid sunshine around here...

Prayers for all in need!

Good Morning,

we are "enjoying" the first sign of Spring weather here - lots of rain, but a little warmer now.

I have been quite busy the last days and had no time left to drop by. As I have mentioned earlier, I am following up on my "political" career, which is requiring almost all of the attention I can give. It also helps me to get over the stress my parents are giving Petra and me.

On Sunday, the party I will be running for, will hold their first National Party Congress in Berlin. It will be a big event. The party is experiencing a rapid growth of the numbers of followers these days - a lot more than we have expected. There is a lot of press attention, not always favorable. The worse the press reports about us, the more applications for membership we get! Recent polls see us surpassing the Liberal Democrats, which means the party could win quite a number of seats in our Congress (Bundestag). We are a conservative movement and want to get Germany out of this Euro-craziness - an idea which really catches on.

May 1st we will have the first party congress in our state. I was asked to do the honors of opening the congress. I´ll be running for chairman on this occasion. Should I get elected and should the party win more than 5 % of all votes in the upcoming General Election, I will be a Congressman in Berlin! Looks pretty promising at the moment.

No news about my Dad. Last time I saw him (Wednesday) he was pretty weak and sleepy. No call from the hospital means his condition is stable. Still we get up to 50 calls a day from my mother, which we are not answering.

Have a good one!

Good morning. It's 43°F with 100% humidity. It will be sunny with a high of 75°F.

Still have some more clutter to clean up on the layout. Surprising how fast it builds up. I have a train running this morning. Three geeps and a slug pulling twenty-seven cars. I'll switch them out later and give the FP7's a run.

Good morning.

Feeling ok this morning. Supposed to have on and off rain today. We're about 2" behind, so we are in need of it.

Just learned of an Air Show that's to take place tomorrow. Will do some research about it.

WE no longer run a school, so there is no need for a gymnasium / auditorium. But there is pleanty of need for storage since monks never throw anything away. Work out? What is that? There is an exercise room with modern exercise equipment here in the monastery, so we would not have to trek across the winter fields just to work out. Besides that building was a bear to heat, having its own STEAM boiler and all. That has been drained and cold for about 25 years now.

We DO have live steam! A big coal fired boiler heats most of the buildings on the campus.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of buckwheat pancakes with fresh NYS maple syrup and a pot (10 cup) full of dark roast coffee for my FGLK Mug, please and thank you Ma'am.

"I'ts a lovely day today, and whatever you've got to do...."  Lovely if you are a duck maybe...  That storm Jeffrey had yesterday is now dumping some major rain here in the Finger Lakes region.  Got about a half inch last night and coming down steady outside at the moment.  We have a lake going right across three properties across the street (happens every time we get a lot of rain).  I saw a city truck driving slowly through the area a couple days ago that looked like they are checking out the problem.  i know all the folks across the street have been complaining about the poor drainage for years.  maybe they will finally do something about it.

Got some firewood there I guess, Barry!  Hope the trees didn't do too much damage to the neighbors house and glad they didn't come down on your house.

I have a long list of items tio be done today.  Unfortunately none of them involve much to do with trains...Sad

Best get moving I guess!

 Morning

 Flo, Diet Dew

Well no good luck on the Rio Grand front. New Rio Grand SD 9 making all kinds of racket. Grumpy It sort of sounds like the gears slip now and then. I did lube the truck, (no gunk in them) and the motor before I test ran it. Will try a little more oil tonight after work.

Rio Grand SD 7, (Parts engine Ed sent me) It will only run on DC, so I guess I will need to wire it like the B&O SD 7 I got from Vince's.

 See you all after work.

Howdy ..

Curt has a nice post in WPF with his sharks!

Barry ....  Sounds like spring has not sprung yet in Ontario, but I hope Spring is well.

Ulrich .... That sounds like good news. The current European style of governing is proving to be a dismal failure. Hope you can make a change. .... As for your Mom, it may be best to go see her again to get everything resolved. Praying your Dad's health improves. ... BTW, did you change your email address since last time I used it?

Lion .... Hmmmmm .... I was thinking of live steam train models outside. Perhaps 1 1/2" scale would be nice.

Garry - I called the nursing home to see how things are at the moment and they advised me not to come. My Mom is not in control of her words and actions. She will be able to stay there as long as they can handle her, but the next step is coming soon ... This is so sad, so very sad.

Afternoon guys

Got 3 boxcars built. I never understood why the doors on accurail cars seem too big for their openings. I have 2 DW cars left to build, but I ran out of 33 inch wheelsets.

Ken, AFAIK, there were only 2 runs of the P2K SD7/9. The ones in the blue box, and the newer walther's realease. Since yours has the screw-on coupler pockets, yours it the newer run. If all else fails, bug walthers. Although I highly doubt walthers stocks parts anymore.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Good Friday evening, all! 34f and snowing. ugh.

Got my ceilings done in T&G end match. Had some time off so I thought I'd cross off a Honey-do.Smile

Heard from PFC Son. That " incident" last Saturday with the State Dept. girl. That was his unit pulling security. Said it was "his State Dept people, not his crew" They were scheduled for the mission but were pulled off at the last minute because they'd been out that am. The other 2 truck crew ran the mission. He knew her as  well as everyone else in the convoy. That's what his job is. Do not believe the "official" spin on this. He is fine .Nuff said.

On the train front, ran out of ballast so that's at a standstill. Thank God.Laugh

 That's all fer now!

Well...we managed to clear the tops of the poplar trees off the garage...there are a number of holes poked through and, of course, his van took a hit...the trees were standing in about 12" of water at my other neighbours house...guess what happened...over-saturated ground/ice build up/wind....poof down she went...took the other poplar down with it. Took portable sawmill to work on them....now we got ~230 board feet of poplar wood to muck around with....

Good Friday evening, all! 34f and snowing. ugh.

Yup, us too up here in Alberta Terry. UGH is right. Super Angry

Evening Diners, TGIF and all that stuff to those still w*rking. Still feeling less than wonderful but better than before so I suppose that's progress. Don't think the stupid weather is helping anything in that department.

Been doing small stuff on the RR like installed the new command station today, fiddled around with some tunnel lining to see if my or was that Lion's idea works. Played around with a prototype of a turnout control panel and took some pictures for see and tell.

Oh right, pulled my Walthers Bud Railcar out of the box for the first time and checked to see how to tear it apart to install a decoder. They even have instructions on how to hard wire the decoder. Amazing Grampa as my Gradson would say. Whistling

As noted above, we are forecast for 20 cm of the white stuff with high winds for the whole weekend so not much outside planned. We usually lose power in these spring storms so we'll wait and see.

Here are a few pictures of the stuff I'm messing with of late.

My ongoing castings of rocks in my "Rock Quarry" box. Going to need a ton of them.

One side of the plastic chloroplast tunnel liner/keep them off the floor wall.

And finally the prototype turnout control panel. I'll need 24 of them plus a main yard panel.

Cheers
