 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Pleases

Boy, today as very unprofitable at work. I stayed busy but really made no extra money to speak of.

Jeffery, thank you for the tip. I have to wounder why you don't go into the computer IT field?

Jim Glad to see you posting again! Far as the money falling thought the floor, I would need around $20,000.00 before I have to start worrying about that stack on top of each other. That would be 1000 pounds.

Far as the $26.00 invested in a better night sleep, if I sleep well again tonight it sure will be worth it even if it was for only 2 night!

Jake, how the P-38 coming a long? Far as Dog Fights I really did enjoy the series. Hope I an find some more that I have not seen.

Saga Of The Rio Grand SD 7 and 9. Seems it is drawing to a close. Did the Jed Clampett (oiled) on the New Rio Grand SD 9 motor bearings shafts again. It is getting much quieter! Yes I can barely here it when it is going around the closes turn that I sit from, which is 6 foot. Before I could hear the engine 20 feet away!

Next Train Project? Getting my Old PK 1000 F 3's that I trade too Vince's and then trade back for Confused running. I need more Monon Powered Chassis!

 See you all later, Ken

That's why I posted it in the diner instead of sending it as a PM. I knew others would be able to benefit from it. How many people REALLY know their way around Photobucket?

Jeff, I think we could hold that meeting in a small room at your place... Smile, Wink & Grin I was looking around tonight for how to turn OFF those cutesy little frames they have around our photos, so I could seen ALL of the photo content in the album view. Never did find tthat setting.

Hope you get rested up by tomorrow morning and feeling better.

Today has been a real drag for me, mentally and physically. Physically because I was in extreme pain just about head to toe and my knees and hips were feeling none too strong. Mentally because, well let's just say my mental faculties were 'out to lunch'. That's vastly improved during the day but this morning I couldn't even remember how to operate my Digitrax Zephyr!. Just trying to remember made me dizzy. If I had taken an IQ test this morning the score would have probably been below 70. My norm is 187 out of 200. By 10am it was much better and by the afternoon I was back to my normal self. However the pain is still with me. Hopefully that will fade a lot by morning.

It looks like the next couple of days will be nice and sunny with the high in the 70's. Monday I have a doctor appointment. General checkup and lab work. Well, time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Good Evening, Flo - I'll have a bowl of chili and a grilled cheese sandwich please, and a RBF to wash it down. Thank you. Dinner

Todd, with all that stuff you were busy doing today, maybe you need to get your wife to go on that trip that Johnboy's wife & sister are taking (for a few days...). You're gonna be as worn out as Jeff was after helping out his father today!

Jeff, rest up your back/muscles/joints as much as you can today/tonight (after all the moving stuff yesterday). Was your Dad just rearranging things, or will your niece and her hubbie be moving in with your father? That might help you, if the niece's husband can be roped into persuaded to help him (so you can actually get more of your stuff done). Hey, you can hope, right? (Hey, thanks for giving Ken that PhotoBucket tip; I went and adjusted my settings, too)

Ken, good to hear you got some more/better sleep last night. At $26 cost, that's a pretty good bargain (and I'm sure your body appreciated that)!

Johnboy - sent you an email. I think I may have missed you mentioning about THAT in one of the 2 or 3 dozen pages that I missed (or how many more was it?). Hopefully it's not next weekend (on-call then for w**k).

Mr. Beasley, sorry to hear you were so close to all of that danger yesterday. It was fortunate that the police caught that guy and stopped him from any further acts. Sad to think of the people (from all the places) who were killed and those seriously injured. But from what I saw on TV, the people of Boston are a strong and brave people.

Hey Galaxy, you don't really need an excuse to eat ice cream, do you? Smile, Wink & Grin (At least, I never do...). Good that you/YOH came up with something for you to eat that didn't interfere with your sore mouth/teeth. Thumbs Up

Vincent - yes, maddening indeed!! Bang Head

Ray, I'm not sure where I'd put a 1:1 depot, so I guess I'll have to pass on bidding for that one.

Had to get my winter coat back out this morning when I headed out - it was only 34 F. Oops Then about mid-day when I left where I was (Panera's), I really only needed my light jacket. I think we got into the upper 50's (F, that'd be... 10 or 11 C, I think). Even now, it's only about 50 F at almost 9 p.m. Won't get as cold tonight (40 F/ 4 C) and tomorrow will be warmer. Maybe see more of that yellow circle thing in the sky!

When I looked at a national radar scan this afternoon, it looked like the cool/cold front was on the East coast and about to head out to sea. So any of you on the coast should have only a little while before it leaves your area.

Now, our Canadian Diners and THAT white stuff they've had before, that's another matter... Whistling

I'll be finishing up my dinner and heading for home in a little.

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape G.

Evening guys

Day 1 of the open house went alright. For our little club we got 36 visitors, and 2 new potential members. I sold an MDC tank car and an Athearn RTR caboose and got $15. Quite a few people seem intrested in my plow and the weathered boxcar has been getting a lot of praise, but no buyers.

I did get asked why I was selling the plow by a fellow member. I told him in my era, the BN's snowplows were brown. He remarked on why don't I just re-paint it? I told him that between repainting it, and acquiring F7B and painting it, it'd be cheaper just to get the one athearn is coming out with that is brown and has the trailing F-unit.

People seemed to love my train of loaded accurail autoracks. I have 3 loaded trilevels (with 15 cars each) and 4 loaded bi-levels (with 12 each). I was suprised I have 93 cars total in that already. Hard to belive I actually did detail painting on them all by hand. I have another trilevel autorack that is almost completely loaded, but I need 3 more of those bachmann station wagons before I get it done.

Jim, she does that ALL THE TIME. It gets frustrating to say the least. On Monday, she took me off for Tuesday at around 8am, then she puts me back for tuesday around 3:30pm. Then she texts me at around 7:00pm saying I don't need to come in. Then around 6:30am on Tuesday moring she's blowing up my phones trying to get me to come in at 7:00am. Maddening, yes?

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, how about a slice of the apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on it to go along with the cup of decaf?  Thank you Ma'am.

Ah....  been quite a day here.  We have had clouds, sunshine, rain, snow, high wind a bit more sun, then more snow, and lots of wind.  I just checked down cellar to see if any water was on the floor and then looked at the inverter before it shut down for the day.  Not a terrible day, but not spectacular either.  Panels gave me 16.6 Kwh of power today.  probably a but more than was used, so i can't complain.

I left for Rochester at 7AM this morning and got there at the same time as the Asst. Superintendent who got the doors open helped with set-up.  Had a good collection of items for the contests (photo and model).  About 35 people were there total.  Had some great clinics and 4 fine layouts to visit in the afternoon.  Had several compliments on the program from members and guests.  I figure one less thing hanging over my head this Spring. Whistling

Anybody want to buy a RR Depot? http://rochester.craigslist.org/reo/3754414102.html  I hear it needs a bit of work...  It is the Lackawanna Sepot in Mount Morris, NY.  One of the members at the R&GV RR Museum has this to say about it, "AGAIN?    Maybe a half dozen years ago it went up for sale for half the current price, and nothing has been done to it in the way of restoration or stabilization since it sold back then, to somebody who was going to put a recording studio in it.  hmph.  Just re-shingling is going to be $30,000 plus."  I guess I should have bought it back then...

I am just kind of hanging out tonight and relaxing...

Later!

Bear .... Yes, the US Civil War was devasting. 600,000 died. That was a big part of the small population in the mid-1800's. There are many cemetaries for the many soldiers who died. One little footnote: One of my ancestors worked in the Lincoln Administration and played a signiuficant part in helping the North win. Fortunately, those days are long gone.

John Boy .... If you are passing through this area quickly, perhaps JimCG and I could meet in Paducah which is midway between Jim and I. Of course, it would be great if you came through here for a layout tour. JimCG and Inch have been here. Other Diners would be welcome. We are very near highway KY-80 / US-68. Were are on Lake Barkley (Cumberland River), and we are adjacent to Land Between the Lakes. http://www.lbl.org/

Here is a photo I took from inside Land Between the Lakes a few minutes away from our house.

Rob ..... I sent you and email. I hope you receive it very soon.

What an exhausting day for doing nothing. Must be the weather.

but both MOH and I have been in/out of bed most of the day!

A snooze Sleep here, a snoozal there Zzz

Dinner was delicious: a prime piece of beef, marinated with KC Masterpiece marinade, roasted to perfect tenderness perfectionies, and some pasta salad {at MOH's request, and green beans. Was good and soft to eat with my tooth gone.

I found Ice cream is great for bringing down the swelling, so now I have an excuse to eat a lot of it!!! I have to take Lactaid with it, but mmmmmm!

When we have some money, like in 2028, I think I will invest in some Z scale stuff and in an under bed box {plastic kind} make a heck of a layout! For about $200 I can get started...$100 for my anniversary, A $100 for my B-day in the fall and $100 for Xmas ought to do nicely. {haven't forgotten yet Jeffrey- will soon now that MOH has a job and when MOH starts actually working and bringing in a paycheck}

Well, the chill in the air almost has me turning up the furnace, but it is actually nicely 69F in here... just need a long sleeve shirt.

Well

I Hope Ulrich and his brother are doing fine being not allowed at Dad's funeral. I have a prayer candle lit for the family.

Well

i think off for another nap!

Jake. Thank you for bringing to my attention the "Dogfighting" series I will have to have a proper look when I get the time.

Bear, I have been watching them every night now for a week. I had been watching them a few years ago, but could not find any new ones so I stopped. Thanks for the Link Jake.

Your welcome. What stinks is the fact that  Dogfights was cancelled after two seasons. It had a lot of potential. Last show "Dogfights of the future". Goes over the F-22 Raptor, F-35, and potential Su-47.

Howdy

Rob ... Please check your emails. I sent a message to you.

JimCG .... Good to see you had time to post. I like the way you take time to talk with everybody. We have relatives in 4 of the cities we pass through on our Southeastern trip starting tomorrow. Since JohnBoy will be in this region, maybe he can stop near you and/or me. ...... JohnBoy. Are you reading this?

Ulrich ... Praying for your situation. You are doing the right things.

Mr. B ..... I'm sure it was a terrifying week in your area. Glad the 2 brothers are no longer at large.

I won't have much computer time for the next week.

Cheers, everybody.

Good morning, afternoon, whatever. It's 62° with 31% humidity. It's sunny and the high will be 70°.

Got a late start today. I'm very sore from yesterday and I am moving very slow. I feel like I've been hit by a jet propelled FP7 attempting to break the land speed record for a railroad locomotive. I think I'll just stay home today and hold down the bed.

Ken: You have your 'Link Back Option' enabled. This adds an URL code to your image code lines. When someone clicks your photo(s) the URL link takes them to your account so they can look at your other photos. Seems all sites are trying to become 'social' these days. To disable this go to the top of your Photobucket screen and click on the down arrow next to your avatar. Click 'User Settings'. Click 'Albums'. Scroll down to 'Link Back Option'. Uncheck the box. Scroll down and click 'Save'. Go back to the top and click 'Library'. That's all there is to it.

Morning All,

Not much planned for today. May go to the club later. They are having ops tonight but I will not participate since I w**k tomorrow. I will be doing a additional 15 hours on Thursday for a co-worker.

I'm starting to get excited as we are getting closer to the train vacation (I call it that, I won't tell you what MOH is calling itWhistling), We leave on 5/11.

We are supposed to get heavy rain on/off from today through Monday night. It will  be a mess at w**k but the area really needs rain.

Hope everyone has a good day and prayers for those in need.

Wow! Thursday it was in the middle to high 80's. This morning it was 37 and felt like 17 with  bitter, gusty wind. Went out to put the weed and feed on the yards, but had to come back in the house to get a heavier coat and gloves. I'm telling you I just can't adapt to these sudden weather changes anymore. I guess the wife can't either because she's sitting in her recliner with a sweatshirt, sweater and wrapped in an afgan listening to one of her audio books. The furnace is set on 68, but she's cold in August too.

Did get the lawns done, but cancelled turning over part of the flower bed and planting some canna's that I'm trying to carry over from last year. Don't know what's on the schedule for the rest of the day now, maybe nothing. Now that I think of it, that sounds like a perfectly reasonable approach to my activity agenda. See you all later.

 Morning Folks

 Flo, Diet Dew pleases.

Boy that was a long few seconds! We are having problems getting all of our cable channels so Charter sent out a repairman. He took the internet off line while messing with the cables. By the time he was done (still having the same problem) I had moved on to doing something else.

How did I sleep last night you ask? Much better thanks to the mattress pads! I tossed and turn way less than I had been, had fewer dreams than normal. Plus my hip does not hurt! Yesterday it hurt the entire day! Normally when I get up in the morning it is because my hip huts so bad I cannot stay in bed, (OK Couch) this morning there was no discomfort! Yes Best $26.00 I spent in years!

"JaBear"

Bear, I have been watching them every night now for a week. I had been watching them a few years ago, but could not find any new ones so I stopped. Thanks for the Link Jake.

Rio Grand Front. The sound was coming from the rear truck. I was able to pop the worm gear cover off and Oil The Heck out of it. I would have made old Jed Clampett smile! But so far it has done the trick, no bearing sound.

I found the SD's where pretty much speed match so I but them in services last night dragging a 25 car train. Guessing they have had about 2 hours of work time now. While far from being quite, they are not making a ton of racket like they where.

Tonight after work I am going to oil the motor shaft's again and run them some more.

Jeffery, you are still using photo bucket, I have a question for you. Now when I posted a picture and click on it it does not make the picture bigger, but instead a person can go through all my photos. Your pictures on the other hand still get bigger like the old site did? How do you do that?

 Well, see you all later!

 Ken

Good to hear that the authorities have made an arrest in Boston.

You're not the only one.  We are only about 10 miles from the point where the arrest was made, and I was going to be extra careful about locking up last night in case the bomber had slipped the dragnet.  I've had a cold all week, too, and haven't slept well.  Last night put an end to both of those issues.

There are still a lot of people, though, who can't be "made whole" by the arrest.  If you'd like to contribute, the official site is www.onefundboston.org.

Things were so much simpler in the Transition Era.  I think I'll spend the day there and decompress.

Well, I ran out of trim yesterday on  the wall so I have to go get some this morning. Then do the ceiling in the apartment bathroom real quick as I haven’t got up there to do that yet either. THEN, I have to mow the yard and THAT may take a couple days. Not sure I want to put the ol’ John Deere through that kinda stress right out of the chue. Man that grass is tall already.

Evening All, Just a hot chocolate, Chloe and could I have it at the rivet counter please.

Good to hear that the authorities have made an arrest in Boston.

yes it was me going on about the rain,we've had some more, not a quite a drought breaker just  yet but with the warm weather things are greening up nicely, next thing you know I'll be moaning about having to mow the lawn, so if I do, feel free to make a rude comment, ( though don't upset Vinnie), I'll deserve it.

Garry. I have just finished reading a book about the battle of Shiloh so while I certainly enjoyed your photos, it was with a certain amount of sadness. No war is fun but a civil war seems to me to be even worse.

Jake. Thank you for bringing to my attention the "Dogfighting" series I will have to have a proper look when I get the time. Well done on being in the top 10 students Having brains help but I suspect hard work also had a lot to do with it. Good on you and I'll keep my fingers crossed regarding the scholarship.

Thoughts and Best Wishes to All who need them.

Cheers, the Bear.

Jeffrey- Now I'm intrigued. What is that second-biggest loco then?

That is an unusual beast. It's called a U30E645 (don't ask me why. It doesn't have a 645 prime mover. It's a rebuilt U30C that has some EMD body components (blower, radiators, dynamic brake fans) and it's apparently sporting a Caterpillar prime mover indicated by the Cat decal on the long hood. The air tanks are also roof mounted.

Do you have a photo Jeffrey? I am assuming it is not based on any prototype.?

Got called down to my fathers place today. He wanted to get some things done that require two people. While their my niece and her husband came down to look at the work that's being done on the west wing. It's starting to look like a house now instead of a bunch of framed walls. So I went around with them and we all inspected the quality of the work. It pretty good overall. Not ready to move into yet but it's getting there. The floor plan is open concept. With the exception of the bathrooms and bedrooms you can go into each area unhindered by doors and you can see quite well from one room to another. But I ended being on my way too long and now my knees, hips, back and shoulders are giving me plenty of grief. I hope I can get some sleep tonight. Looks like tomorrow will be a sunny day with a high in the 70's. I was a bit surprised that nobody asked what that big loco on the Sundown shop track was this morning. That's my second largest loco and it can take 18" radius curves and #4 turnouts all day long. So can my biggest one.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

So here we are at the start of another weekend. Hope everyone has a good one. Weather is a little goofy here it seems. Yesterday we were in the middle 80's with low humidity and a nice breeze. Got up early today and it was still very nice, However, over the course of the day the temperatures dropped over 25 degrees and a cold rain came along for the ride. It figures because I spent a great deal of time yesterday washing the car and cleaning the windows and interior. Then the wife and I decided to go out for dinner tonight. Good bye clean car. Of course, it stopped raining after we got home and everything dried up. GRRRR....

Did get a good fish sandwich with french fries, coleslaw and a Sam Adams Light on draft. So something good was salvaged out of the day.

Plan on putting some lawn fertilizer down tomorrow morning. I put it down every spring and fall. Not that it really needs it as I've already cut the grass 3 times in the last 2 weeks. I need to catch up on a couple of other chores so we will be free for our regular Sunday rail fanning. Well, I guess I better go turn the furnace back on as it's getting a little chilly in the house now, so catch you all later.
