 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Pleases.

Work Front It was slow, but luckily Tom (New Service Manger) was taking some on line test so I got to sell services for a change. Made around a extra $30.00 or so. High lite of the day was walking out at 8:05 PM. Big Smile

With MOH turning 54 last week, a train nut friend suggested we look at Senior housing here next year when MOH is 55 -- as  a joke. BUT, the JOKE was on him, as MOH and I have investigated such doings! There you pay a % of your income and get a 1 or 2 BR complex within the building wiht assisted Nursing available.

Galaxy, tell me some details if you can! With me being 95% BoS is not going to help with me keeping the house this may be something worth looking into. I am 57 and my wife, well all I can say is she is older! Whistling Funny about how woman are about there age.

Vince's I think the train remains I found where FP 45's, a U Boat and a think a SD 38.  By the way, how hard was to to cut down the Kato motor shaft and by how much? I really want another PK F3 on the rails.

I have only been in the hobby say 7 years or so and I am surprised how much junk I have and have forgotten about! Whistling I wonder what Jeffery Junk Pile Look's Like? Confused

Jeffery The reason you are seeing the junk over the top of my photos is because I have been to lazy to do the fix you listed. But, I found if I cut off the URL in the front and rear of the link before I post, the link is gone.

Well Trains are running great and I am out of things to type at the moment so I will see you all late.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a cup of decaf please....

Did something today very out of character for me.  Not May 1st. yet and I mowed the entire lawn today!  Yep got the mower out, vacuumed some grass and dirt out of it, put the battery back in, pulled the lever and she started right off.  No problems at all!  I got the entire lawn done with just one additional charge.  Decided this year I would buy a second battery for it and it will be here in about a week.  Then I can just change the battery (easy job. Unhook the lever locking it in place and just lift it out) and keep going if I choose.  Set a new record for the panels on the roof again today.  29.9 Kwh of power today!  Yep the sun makes the grass grow, and the sun makes the power needed to cut it... Smile, Wink & GrinLaugh

Got an email today to call a person at the high school.  Called her and was told she felt the MLK Committee ought to be informed that one of our applicants managed to get herself arrested yesterday.  She was slatted to get a small scholarship from us as she had a history of having a mouth on her, but had seemed to have grown up a lot this year.  It was brought up as a rumor at the meeting (I was asked about it and that is how I approached it).  One of our members is an officer of the County Court.  She took out her phone and made a call...  Yep! The girl is 18, got mouthy and belligerent to a couple guards at an activity  witnessed by a couple of police officers, was arrested (harassment and assault), arraigned, will be treated as an adult, and lost her scholarship all in one fell swoop!  That $$$ will be saved for next year and someone more closely aligned with our Mission Statement (...to promote peace, justice, and equality for all people...). We put a high value on how a person treats others.

Tomorrow is back to clean the house day...  Have about five days of w*rk to do before driving to Canada on Friday!

Have a good night everyone!  Prayers for all in need.

Well I didn't get much done today. Some tools were put away. I considered whether or not to cut the grass but decided I wait until after the rain. Had dinner at my fathers place. Chili dogs. I have a pile of Atlas FP7 number boards, eight of them I think. I have no idea what I'm going to do with them. probably dump them in the junk box. I mounted inlaid number boards on the FP7's so there's no need for for surface mount boards. I also looked at some coupler height issues and I think I just about have that worked out. There on some old train set cars so it really doesn't matter one way or another.

We're expecting rain tonight and tomorrow, 60% tonight maybe 70 tomorrow, so we might actually get wet. Looks like the wind will be civilized.

Tonight I'll be taking the first full dose of the gabapentin. Had a half dose yesterday to get started. I felt all right today, still a bit of tingling but it doesn't feel like I'm trying to squeeze a pin cushion full of needles.

Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

well I helped grandpa fix the ruined boards in the roof, now we just need to put the.... thingamajigs over them. let's see I plan on doing a ton of studying this weekend. anywho, a ton of SP&S stuff is headed my way. 3 boxcars, an Alco FA2 FB2 set, I need to look for some more stuff as well as get an F3A with a steam heater and some Decals to make SP&S #802.  #802 looks on as a BNSF train(just on the other side of the bushes on the left) passes over her old stomping grounds in Stevenson, Washington.

Well

Does MOH have a new job or not? THAT is He question. The answer is "we don't know".

MOH phoned the Asst. Mgr. {A M} to get an idea of when to start for training.....the A.M was "to busy to get to that, and may not get to it this week"...!!???!!!???

So NOW MOH is unclear whether to wait for the AM to phone with a schedule or what?!

That is OK, MOH has  an interview Thursday with a group that assists Special People with assisted or "independent" living arrangements. I think MOH secretly wants that job too.

I told MOH not to burn any bridges on the grocery store front, but MOH is tired of food service. I suggested MOH might want to work there part time to get extra extra money to do things like the cruise MOH  is bugging me about to go on. OI don't think it will be all MOH thinks it is cracked up to be, though! ANd we will need money to go away for retirement, especially the pipe dream of retiring to Hawaii!

We may just do that!!!

Well

NOW to get MOH working adn actually making a paycheck!

Hi, diners. Thought I'd give you all an update as to this week's projects. Sorry!Laugh

As you may know I model the old C&NW mainline from Spooner to Cameron, Wi. At US 53 and Co. Rd. B is a supper club called Country Inn. My wife used to work there and it's still there. Great food, BTW.

Anyhow, I've kitbashed the building out of 2 old Bachman kits. So first I had to excavate the site:

Then place the building and backfill for the parking lot. It'll get paved after the subgrade cures.:

Do you remember those old Tyco SF trailers that came with trainsets? took 4 of them and painted the vans. Then added weights to the chassis.:

Figure that would help give weight to flat cars. That's all for now. Sorry for all the pics!Stick out tongue

Good morning. It's 73° with 77% humidity. It's cloudy and the high will be 80°.

No particular plans for today. I may work on the layout later depending on how I'm feeling. I still have the nerve pain in my right arm and hand but it's not as intense as it has been. It's kind of funny that I don't like the sensation as for most of my life I haven't had much. I could easily do without it and I hope the sting continues to fade.

Ken: Are you using the 'Insert Image' with the 'IMG code' tag lines? You don't have to. All that needs to be done is to position your cursor where you want the tag line, right click, click paste and that's it. The IMG tag line is in the post. After you click post the photo will show and it won't have that code line mess above or below it.

Mornin' everyone!

"The sun is a-shining to welcome the day......"  Zoe, I'll have a couple sour cream donuts and a cup of dark roast coffee to dunk them in.  Thank you Ma'am!

The weather people have declared that today will be sunny around these parts and so far they haven't disappointed...

Ulrich, hope and pray everything goes well for getting your Mom the care she needs!

Going to get out the Lawn mower, clean it up a bit, install the battery and have a go at the yard.  Then I am to continue cleaning the hoiuse so the pet sitter doesn't get too grossed out this weekend while I'm gone to the convention.

Later!

Jeffery, problem I am having with the new Photo Bucket is sometimes I cannot get a link to paste and copy. Most of the time I have no problems, but there are times all I can copy is the first 5 or 6 letter's of the link?

Sounds like you're trying to copy the link by scanning your mouse pointer over it to highlight it. On mine I use the 'Easy Link' mode where the link options are under the thumbnails on the Library page. I see the photo I want, I left click on the words 'IMG code' and the img tag line to the right lights up. I then place my mouse pointer on the highlighted line, right click and click 'Copy'. That copies the tag line to my clipboard and I can paste it wherever I want.

If you're not using the 'Easy Link' mode you simply rest the mouse pointer on the photo thumbnail. A little gear type icon appears in the top right corner of the thumbnail. Place your mouse pointer on that and it gives a last of options, one of which is 'Get Links...'. Click that option and the screen blacks out and a list of link options appear. Go to the bottom where it says 'IMG codes' and left click the tag line under it. The tag line will highlight momentarily and will flash 'Copied'. Go to the top of the 'Share' box, click the 'X' in the right corner and the 'Library' screen will reappear. You can now paste the photo tag line wherever you wish.

See how easy?

Good Afternoon!

Just a quick update on the family nightmare.

My brother and his GF will join us for on Thursday, to say our farewell to Dad. We will meet in the local church for a silent prayer afterwards.

My Mom will not be evicted from the nursing home - she decided to go on her own. The management has now applied for a court ruling on that issue, and it is most lake she will be admitted to a state hospital. As sad as all of this is, I feel a little relieved, as I know she will be taken care of.

I am still shocked about what happened during the last week - a week I will never forget.

Thanks for bearing with me!

 Morning Dinners

 Flo, Diet Dew pleases.

Vince's I missed read when you asked "What is Shaky". It is the N&S GP 20 I got from you. Last time I ran it, it was fine. Think I am going to speed match it to the SD's as a helper.

Far speed matching the Kato Motored F 3 with the stock F 3's? Not a problem, mid range took some time but went with out a real hitch. All so found the led A unit was slower than the B unit? Now that all 3 are speed matched well they run pretty darn good!

Jeffery, problem I am having with the new Photo Bucket is sometimes I cannot get a link to paste and copy. Most of the time I have no problems, but there are times all I can copy is the first 5 or 6 letter's of the link?

 See you all after work.

Good morning to all.  Coffee and fresh mixed fruit for me.  I'm not hard core on this weight loss thing, but avoiding big breakfasts seems to help.  9 pounds since the start of the year when I started keeping track.  It's already a bit easier to squeeze into that tiny space by the carfloat, but my pants keep slipping down to the point where I feel like a modern-day teenage boy.

I just happened to check into the Facebook page for a hobby shop some distance away that I don't go to very often, looking for Northeast Scale Lumber since my own LHS has stopped carrying it.  To my great delight, they're having their semi-annual 30% off everything sale on Saturday, so I'll be in attendance.  Hobby Emporium in Tyngsboro, MA, if anyone is interested.  Strictly brick-and-mortar, not even a real web site, but they are very well stocked.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and eggs Benedict please, thanks.

  • A chance of showers, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 10am. Temperature falling to around 48 by 5pm. South wind 8 to 13 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.
  • Tonight Rain showers before 1am, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Some thunder is also possible.

Do you believe that??!! Ridiculous. Where are we? Canada?

Ulrich- Prayers continue for you .

Ray- Glad to hear Blackie’s doing even better.

Jim said- “Todd, y'know we/us other Diners look for photos to inspire us/steal ideas from, right?”  Oh you betcha I know. I’m right in there with yall tooYesCool.

Vinny is Jeff’s cousin?      HmmThat does explain a few things….

Well, got the lawn roller assembled yesterday and is waiting in the back of the truck (not filled, yet. I at least thought in advance on that one.) for this next rain to come. They claim 3/4inch for sure, maybe an inch. Then I will smash the lawn and hopefully rid it of most of the bumps. I will continue this crude but hopefully effective ritual until I can push my mower without it looking and feeling like it’s gonna bounce itself to pieces and/or a wheel busts off the thing. In the mean time, my buddy and his wife decided they wanted this doorway closed in at the waitress station end of a restroom view blocking wall….thing. Hard to explain for me but probably simple for most others. Anyway this opens on one end into the waitress station and once again….”you can still see the bus tub when they go to the bathroom.”Surprise She is obsessed with customers not seeing the "dirty dishes in a nasty bus tub". Eh, can't blame her. So I got the stuff yesterday and the “saloon doors” as I call them, she calls them “cafe doors” she now wants I guess so the customers can’t see right into the waitress station AND….can’t see the bus tub if they look through there. Oh well, I don't mind. Actually does look better.

Bus tubs…..hate ‘em.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Evenin', Chloe - I'll just get a go cup, as it's too late for me to stay up (especially after fritterin' away some time until 2 a.m. this morning...). Thanks!

Jeff, as you indicated in your response, you are known for maximizing the use of any resources on your layout, so I was sure - between that and your technical background in electrical/electronics stuff - that you, above anybody else in here (no offense meant to you other Diners who are conversant in electric-speak - which I'm not so much), would be able to put the lights, wiring, and any/everything else to good use! BowThumbs Up

Todd, y'know we/us other Diners look for photos to inspire us/steal ideas from, right? Smile, Wink & Grin

Broadway, nice photos of the SL there. How big (space-wise, more than cat-size) is the local zoo there? Seems like your area has a very good selection of the big felines, from various pics you've posted.

Well (whose rising level may be due to the Mighty Misssissippi coming up around these parts (the riverwall gates were closed a couple of days ago, already) I'd better head for my bed now; I'll try to swing back in the morning and catch up on the other posts I've missed today. It's too easy to forget how many pages of posts that you Diners can put up in just one day! Maybe I can catch the breakfast buffet in the morning. Dinner

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape G.

Evenin' folks!

Janie just a decaf, please.

I'm tired....  Got a lot of stuff done though.  Basically cleaned  the living room today, and did the laundry.  Also took my old chainsaw down to the guy in Penn Yan who sells and repairs them.  I am having him do a complete tune up on it before I donate it to the Museum.  He will also give me an estimate on what it might be worth.

Today was a beautiful sunny day all day!  The solar panels kicked out 28.67 Kwh of power so with a couple more good days on the horizon before I officially read the meters this month should make April the first month I have made more power than I used.

Happy Earth Day!

Called my son tonight, He has a busy day off planned for tomorrow including taking his wife to the Physical Therapist for her arm and wrist (she is really hopeful she can start driving again and get back to teaching her class), so I won't be helping him with yard work tomorrow meaning I will likely get out the mower and see about doing my lawn.  Grass is growing fast at the moment.  I will only have to vacuum out the battery compartment and drop in the battery.  Put in the key, and go mow lawn.  Love electric stuff! Smile, Wink & Grin  I will also need to continue cleaning the house and start to pack for the weekend.

Hope you all have a good night!

cudaken

I am using the same decoder in the Kato powered PK F 3, it is running just fine

 Ken

How much speed matching had to be done to get the Kato-powered one to run with the others? Good that that one works fine, the kato motor can be had for 17 bucks online. The only mod to the motor I made to fit it in the P1K chassis was cut the shafts down a bit.

Maybe next time you get stewarts' F-units, make sure they are the ones marked "Kato" on the bottom with the black (kato) motor, lol

What kind of athearn BB frames did you find? If you have 2 athearn trainmaster frames, I'd take them in a heartbeat.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
