Afternoon guys
Well the interview seemed to go well. The issues I'm looking at with the job at Ace is it's full time, and would interfere with some "other" things that I have to do. And it would be tricky to keep my current job and have that one. The other issue is it's minimum wage, which is about 1 dollar an hour less than what I currently have. The pros are that the schedule is consistant (unlike my current one) and I'd get 40 hours. I'm getting around 30 or so on average now. I'm just wondering if the pay cut is really worth the extra hours... If I keep both jobs I'll have a good amount of money, but then come summer I would be looking at going back to college. Any opinions?
Gary, I have 4 bay-window (3 walthers and an athearn), 3 Extended-vision (2 atlas and an athearn), and 1 Q wood caboose (walthers). In my project bin I have 2 Extended vision cabooses (atlas), 1 santa fe-type caboose (athearn), and 3 CB&Q NE12 cabooses (bachmann). I'm just waiting on the weather to be good to paint them into BN green. But then I have like 60 locos, about a third are in the painting and detailing stages.
Ken, Sorry I didn't get the package out today. I still haven't been payed back for the vet bill from last week.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
jeffrey-wimberlyAnd I got this for under $40? I feel like I just ripped off the Crown Jewels and got away with it! I'll have to see if I can find more of these in this price range and pick them up as I can.
Nice score Jeffrey. Must feel great to have a New Prime Mover for a change. I'm spoiled I know. If I posted pictures of all the new stuff I've been fortunate enough to purchase in the last year, folks would throw me out of the Diner.
Speaking of purchasing stuff, I need some more Atlas Twin Coil Switch Machines in HO surface mount. Been trying to find a 1/2 dozen Left hand ones and no one seems to have them. Anyone around the Diner looking to sell some new/used ones???? Just so long as they work, just PM me.
I also have a Bud Rail Car that I want to install a Digitrax decoder in. No sound. Anyone done one of these installs??? Jeffrey... master of the impossible ... any ideas?
No Model Work today unfortunately, had to do some "Touch Up" on that stupid Yellow paint MOH chose.
Cheers to all

well, it was worth a try galaxy I had a chessie system GP40 a while ago. I'm planning on getting some atlas chessie system units because Chessie and NYC are my two east coast roads that I like.
Packer I have a pair of offset cabeese, one MTL, one atlas, an extended vision made by CC, a bay window by Model power. all in BN, I need to get an atlas ext. vision for both BN and GN(for my GN alcos). I'd like to have some undecorated locos of various builds just so I can complete some projects that I've been pondering for some time now.

Evening All,
Just wanted to check in and say hi. I am beat. Today I drove down to and back from West Palm Beach (6 hours) doing a skunk rescue, so we have another addition until Sunday when he will continue his journey to his new home. After that I got a haircut and swept the floor. I think it will be a early night.
Hope everybody has a good night and prayers for those in need.

Hi Packer,
Not exactly sure what your rates of pay are, but just ball parking it, I would say that you will work an additional 10 hours for about $40.00. That is $4.00 an hour..... That doesn't look to great to me.
Just saying >>>>>>
Nice picking Jeff, that looks great. I'm really glad for you.

I've got an Athearn one, easier to install DCC in than changing the freakin belts! Never run the thing, wonder why I even keep it

Howdy .... Just returned home in KY from Detroit and Cincinnati. Snowed last night in Cincy. .... Went to Detroit first (last week)...... Family lives north of Detroit, and so it requires driving through it. I once worked in Detroit, and while there, the city deteriorated continuously. Now it is worse. I arrived in the evening, and all the freeway lights were not working. I found out why. Copper thieves take the electrical equipment. One would-be thief electrocuted himself while attempting to steal the equipment. That's not all; thieves take brass fittings from fire hydrants making them inoperable. ..... So, if you are modeling a city in this era, you may wish to consider making it look bankrupt. .... Maybe, Dennis in California is on to something after all. I did not think he was too political talking about L A ... .
Jeff .... Looks like Sundown is hosting FP7-o-mania! ........ I like the Rock Island one very much.
Canadian Dennis...... To install DCC in your RDC, I suggest consulting with Dr. Google. Search "Install DCC HO Proto RDC" .... (Assuming you have an HO Proto 1000 RDC. Change the search if you have something else. ) You may find several links that will help you. I have had good luck with sites maintained by TCS, Digitrax, and Tony's Train Exchange. .... You might even find a You Tube presentation of such an installation that will be helpful/.
Ulrich ..... I hope the move goes well!
There was a train show in the Detroit area while I was there. .... So, I went to it. I have not been to trains shows much in recent years. I purchased scenery materials, vehicles, and other stuff for the layout. I also bought some parts I need for train cars. One other item is an old Bowser kit for street car overhead wire; and I need that for my streetcar line.
Happy model Railroading!

Packing it in a bit early tonight. I sometimes get to the point where my joints feel like they're burning. I'm at that point now. It usually only lasts a few hours but it has been known to last for days. The docs have no idea what causes it. Hopefully a good nights sleep, or even a few hours of sleep will be enough. See y'all tomorrow.
Jeffery,
By the time you see this I hope you have slept well. I have my own joint pain as a result of being hit by a car. Fortunately I don't always have it. When I do I need a muscle relaxant. So I feel for you and wish I could offer more than a few words of sympathy.
John
Thanks John. Aleve helps some but it's kinda like trying to empty the lake here with a bucket.

Hands sweated until the time Tyler left, after that I was fine.
Looking forward Thursday, it is a Tyler Free Day, but wait, I have BoS Thursday? Someone just shoot me!

Hi Guys,
Just about ready to go to the new place I start at today. Didnt really sleep much last night either. I was lucky If I got 4 hours .
PC is acting weird on me also, for some reason it freezes up when It tries to load a DVD?? weird. The PC is almost 7 years old so It doesnt owe me anything. I think the wife will be mad if it dies because that means she has to share her laptop, lol or I hookup the older desktop PC from the workshop.
I will be back later today to let you guys know how it went today.
Good morning. Some work again tonight, but nothing major.
Again, hope to make some progress on the P-38 tonight. Also looking forward to a D.C. trip that's coming up next week.

That's what I thought too Jeff, I have a external dvd drive also so I am just using that.
Well just about to head out the door in 25 minutes ( I work 8-4)
Good Morning all,
Wow how time slips away. I’ve been busy casting HO stuff in the basement and work has been really busy. Contractors have no idea how the sequestration might affect our office and neither do we since no one can really forecast how long it will take DC to develop a budget. So I’ve been busy reviewing blueprints and developing plans for projects. Some of these projects won’t start until mid summer but nobody wants things delayed if I get a 22 day vacation.
So anyway I’m casing propane tanks and track bumpers.
Ulrich, good luck on the move. Parents are never easy…..

Good morning. I think. It's 36° with 88% humidity. The high will be 65°.I feel no better than I did last night. My joints are burning and hurt every time I move. I think I'll just do a whole bunch of nothing today. Excuse me while I fall apart right here.
Good Morning!!!
Coffee and an order of fried crawfish with some of that zippy horseradish dipping sauce and an order of onion rings please. Thanks.
Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 37.
That Duck Dynasty just keeps getting better.
Well, as I suspected the girls were just tickled to see me. Oh they did a good job appearing as if it was just another day and I hadn’t even been gone, but I could tell just in the way they went about their business they seemed more……at ease than when I wasn’t there.
Pulled the train station from Gold Creek yesterday. It’s now on the w**kbench. I’ve decided to put an interior in it. The windows are fairly small so it wouldn’t be easy to see in so it wouldn’t take a lot. Besides, it’s a small town station that is actually probably bigger than the town would need anymore so….., real life would be pretty empty anyway. It just needs something as do all the others. I figure while I’m dealing with the drying issues, I can w**k on some models in other parts and some stuff other than where I’m w**king unless, I’m w**king….you know this is getting confusing even to me and it's my idea.
Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Nice day so far. Nothing to report.
Good Morning All,
A regular to go please in my normal New Haven travel mug.
34F and s**wing intermittently this morning. Doesn't stick so far so ok. Rushing about catching up shop stuff before heading back south Monday. Visited the layout last night for a minute to do some measurements but that's about all. Welcome to some new faces and I'm outa here for now. J.R.
jeffrey-wimberlyI don't make it a habit of doing installs for others.
I wasn't suggesting that you do installs for other Jeffrey, just asking if you had done one for yourself before.
Morning... again. Sno*wing again yet still, Not much just an inch or so. Just enough to be a pain. Supposed to clear up and warm up tomorrow and the next day. Hope it does what they say it will because it seems like it's days since we've seen the yellow thing in the sky. Is it still there?
Not much on the agenda for today. Well, there could be but yours truly seems to have a case of the winter blues. No motivation for anything. I still have some more touch up to do on trim in the kitchen. Maybe just do it and get it over with once and for all.
That's about all for now folks. Later!!!!!
TOP for me again... Sheesh 2 days in a row for crying out loud. Here's the CC Flo.

Thanks for the good advice Heartland. I'll have a look see. Never know what I'll find. Strange I didn't thing of it myself. Some days, I'm sort of brain dead.
Good Afternoon!
The move has been done. Petra and I left our home early, just to drive to my parents´ house to pick up another few items my parents "urgently" need - and already have. When we arrived at the "old" nursing home" my mother had an extremely bad temper, blaming me for all the misery she is in. Forum policy does not allow me to repeat here what she said to me. When she and Dad finally went for lunch, we were able to pack their gear and load it into the car. Of course we found all those things she said to be stolen from her.
We set off shortly after noon and arrived at the new place about half an our before them. Time enough to tote in all the baggage and other belongings without having someone around constantly sniping at you. When the finally arrived, their were greeted by the staff with a bouquet of flowers and were invited to coffee and cake. We helped them to settle in and made our way home, which is thankfully only a 20 minute drive now.
Tomorrow, I will take their TV set to them and get it hooked up. Lots of paper work to do, but I hope we will get a few days rest from them. Petra and I are completely done! And hungry - nothing to eat during the day!
This is where my parents now live:
Have a good one!
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, just a bowl of Organic Flax Plus Maple Pecan cereal and lots of dark roast coffee in my R&GV RR mug please.
Didn't get home until late last night. The reunion committee meeting was one of those "Will this meeting ever end" types. I ended up with about 5 more items to take care of... All of them small things that can be done in just a few minutes. Had lots of discussions on several unfinished topics, most of which still haven't been decided.
Got up this morning to find Blackie had been throwing up on the dining room carpet.... Was worried he was reacting to his meds, but later found a nice huge hairball on the living room carpet. He has since had his meds and breakfast and appears to be fine.
The big item for the day is a visit to the dentist early this afternoon. "Oh joy, oh rapture"! Will be getting one tooth filled and the one next to it will be getting a crown. Only money they say. I also have to get the Scholarship form finished, printed, and ready to take over to the high school tomorrow. doesn't look like there will be any model railroading again today! The gloomy, cloudy sky makes a perfect backdrop for this day I guess...
Hope you all have a great day and the big yellow thing is shining wherever you are! Later!

Dennis,
Somewhere in the web site several years ago was indeed an illustrated guide to fitting the DCC decoder in an early P1K RDC. I have the printout somewhere if I can ever find it so I could hopefully give you the link (again if I can find the print). IIRC it also had suggestions for opening the hermetically sealed body to gain access. Good Luck and happy hunting. J.R.
