Afternoon guys
Just waiting for my father to get home so I can take him to get his car from the exhaust shop. Then it's off to the train club to play with my switchers. I put a TCS decoder in my SW10. I think i'll leave it in there and replace the soundtraxx one with a loksound select when funds allow.
Ken, Hang in there. I've been putting in applications for a 2nd job just to have more $. I'll call ace back in a bit about one lead.
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Columbian coffee in a STORMY SOUTHERN mug, please.
Picked up a couple (blue) metal (HO) buildings for the layout today. They came as CAT business, but I might change them to comething else. Those kind of structures could be used almost anywhere for anything.
I got more firewood cut/split/stacked today, mostly old pine with some poplar and a little cherry wood mixed in. All done before the storm hit. No hail here, just heavy rain and lightning. Still gusting pretty good out there. Trees down in my county, but not here as far as I can tell. Guess I should walk the farm tomorrow.
Worker showed up and did some good work for me today. This guy is worth every penny.
Cheers! Rob

Flo, can I get some of the pork chops I smelled cookin earlier, some mashed taters & green beans. Think I'll was it down with an RBF,,,thanks dear..
Still waitin for the sn*w were supposed to get. A foot, really? Its 45 and beeeeeuuuuuteeful out there right now. Is ok if it sn*ws, I went to my LHS today and picked up some essentials. The big rack in the basement is full of seasoned red oak, the fridge is full, and SWMBO is home, off the roads, and can work from home if need be.
Funny, I found out that earlier today all the airplanes were GONE from BWI. The first flake hasn't fallen yet and the airlines are headed for fair weather. Amtrak is still running....for now.

Evening guys,
I start that new job on Thursday and am actually excited. Its a great paying job and will be nice to have some decent money coming in again. I have been working on the layout the last few days doing some general maintenance ( cleaning track, dusting ) and also cleaned up the workshop pretty good. I also spent some time painting figures, don't really need any but its one of my favorite parts of the hobby. I keep feeling like I might be getting a cold as I have been sneezing alot in the last couple days but really hasn't turned into anything more then that which is fine by me. Well Im going to go have a look around at some other topics here.
Should get to bed now. Night everyone.

Hey Jeremy,
That's great news about the new employment. I hope it meets and exceeds your expectations.
About the cold, I have been sneezing and coughing some since last Friday. Hasn't gotten bad, but tonight I really feel S__TTY. Think I'll head off to bed early and I can sleep in tomorrow as it is a day off.
Anyway, Congratulations.
Night all to the rest of the Diner Crew this evening. Have a round on me.

Had to do a couple of things for my father this morning then worked on the UP and BN FP7's off and on the rest of the day. I had some handrails left over from the dress-up kit I used on the primer gray FP7 yesterday so I ground the molded on hand rails off the back doors of the BN unit and replaced them with the metal hand rails from the kit. There's a few more I'm going to add to it but it won't happen today.Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

did absolutely nothing on the model railroading front, I ordered an MTL heavyweight diner for the BN "Pocamoke." LSM is out of hour glass E units in SP&S I'm gonna have to paint my own units. those RS3's though got it. hmmmm maybe I should get some heavy weights to repaint for SP&S.

Work Front was pretty uneventful today which is fine by me! Got out of there at 8:30 PM.
It is hard to stop thinking about that in a few months I may have no places to live. But it is what it is! Starting to form some plans in my head. Need to start listing stuff on Crags List that I won't be taking with me.
Guess I will stop by K-10 Model Trains and see if he will buy or sell some of my train stuff. Not that I am ready to sell, but at the same time I need to test the waters. Very unlikely in the next dwelling I live in I will have the room for all the rolling stock I have.
Speaking of rolling stock, does anyone here at the Dinner wants some projects cars? I bet once I start digging I have around 40 to 80 rolling stock being mainly Life Like, Tyco and Bachmann waiting to be work on. All I would want is the cost of a box and shipping cost, other wise free.
Vince Check will be sent Wednesday or Thursday. Ship as soon as you can so I have a chances to run them while I have a layout.
Dumb Bank Of Stupid, a simple swipe of a pen and my house payment would go from $998.62 too $600.00. It just deifies all logic! I only owe $53,000 on the house!

Morning guys
Train club last night went okay. Someone took the decoderpro bench home to work on it, but didn't tell anyone. Which means I couldn't program my 2 SWs together. I swapped out my now flawless (It hasn't derailed once since fixing the wheels) for a less reliable TOFC and open autorack train... But I kept 13 grain hoppers at the head because the glue I had used on the cars is starting to come up. But it does remind me I need a few more (like 2-4 more) bachmann station wagons to fill up 2 of my other ones... I also found out the Athearn BB 86' flats with the A-line end weights actually work on the club layout, if there is a car with swinging couplers on either end. Might try long-shank couplers to see if they work too.
Busy day today so far as planned. Get new tires mounted, call up ace hardware to see about the application I put in, put together ken's locos, wash and clean my car, mail some packages, and a few other things I'm missing. Best get cracking...
Ken, I should have them wrapped up and sent out today...
Good Morning!!!
Coffee and hashbrowns, scrambled eggs and sausage gravy over the whole thing please. Not over the coffee thank you.
Well the 2-4 inches of sn*w we were to get yesterday turned into an amount that didn’t even cover the grass. I need that job. Anyway, for today; Partly sunny, with a high near 34.
I should have figured out the box by the furnace considering what was running in to it duh. Our furnace was placed next to the floor drain so we didn’t need one hence my ignore-ance. Yah..., that's it. Anyway, I know those things do kick out the condensation.
Ken- I don’t understand why BOS is not doing something to help. I know our bank called us to lower our interest and payment as well, due to the new current amount and charged nothing. Said because the banks are under pressure from congress because they gave 'em all this money and people are stilll going under. Pretty much what you said, just rewrite loan with current owed and new interest rate. No closing costs, appraisal, nothing. We just went in and signed the papers. Done. I don’t see why they won’t do the same for you.
Today. Well today….., I don’t….thiiiiink… I have anything going on. Othern a wine and bruschetta tasting thing going on at the restaurant tonight. Fancy huh. That don't kick off until 7 pm so I still got all day. I do have another load of laundry and of course some train stuff to do in the mean time. We’ll see if I can get down there after dinner. Speaking of dinner, I haven’t been to see my girls in two weeks so today….hoo boy. They’ll probably be yammering away in Chinese all smiling and happy, fighting over who gets to wait on me. Helping me with my coat, recleaning the table and refilling the soda glass like 50 times and asking if everything ok. Bringing me little morsels of food they made themselves in the back to try. Wiping my mouth off. You know, normal stuff. Stuff that happens when a valued and well loved customer returns from a long absence. Like I said, just normal stuff.
But first....ZIVA!!!!
Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

I'm a small town boy. A product of two people from even smaller towns. I don’t talk on topic….. I just talk.
Got up early this morning and looked out the window to see about 3 inches of that white stuff. But not to worry. I picked up my sn*w blower after being repaired on Monday. Good timing don't you think, especially after they had it for a month. It's still coming down, but additional accumulation isn't very significant. Besides, the temperature is around freezing and expected to rise. Maybe a little clean up later.
Someone asked about the bricks under Ray's furnace. My furnace (installed 2001) is also sitting on bricks, so it's a practice that goes back for some time I guess. They gave me a couple of reasons for doing that, but I'm an old person and don't remember what they were. Must have sounded good at the time because I didn't fuss about it. We had whole house AC installed at the time and we haven't looked back since. Worth every penny in the winter and the summer. I will need to put some more money into the system this summer as I noticed a few months ago some corrosion on the plenum (?) where the humidifier is attached. I asked the technician when he did a furnace check-up about it, and he said they don't do it that way anymore because of that exact problem. So I'm going to have the humidifier relaced before any significant damage is done. A humidifier is essential in this old house, unless you don't want to breath from around November thru April.
Lots of housework to get done today, so I better get to it. Everybody have a good one.

Mornin gang!
Been snowing here since about 1 a.m. Supposed to go til this evening, with a foot or so total
Tomorrow temps near 40, gradually increasing to 50 by the weekend.
1 good thing about the weather, D.C. is shut down, they can't screw nothing up if they're not there!
cudaken Dumb Bank Of Stupid, a simple swipe of a pen and my house payment would go from $998.62 too $600.00. It just deifies all logic! I only owe $53,000 on the house!
Ken, is there not another financial institution that would lend you the money against the house, effectively cutting BOS out of the scene?
I'm gonna go gobble up these cakes in a booth over there, then maybe, just maybe, stick my head back outside, toss snowball at my neighbors !
Good morning. It's 40° with 60% humidity. The high will be 60°.Hopefully I won't be interrupted today and I'll be able to clear some of the junk off the layout. Yeah, right! And maybe pigs will fly! I know that as soon as I get a good start the darn phone is going to ring. Someday I'll probably yank that thing out by it's wires! Well enough about that. My E-R Models Rock Island FP7 should be arriving today. From outward appearances there's no difference between the E-R Models unit and the 80's era Atlas and Con-Cor units. I'll find out when I open it up for inspection and cleaning. I'm running a train this morning that has three FP7's as head-end power. Two 70's era Atlas/Roco units and a 70's era Atlas/Roco-Athearn hybrid. They're running OK but I'm not particularly enthused with the sound coming from the lead unit, the primer gray FP7. Did I miss something in the inspection of the gears? Maybe it's the motor making that racket? I was pretty thorough with the gear inspection so I'm betting on the motor. If it is I have a PPW motor that should work in it just fine.
Columbian roast in a SOUTHERN PACIFIC mug, please.
Going to head down to the train room shortly and see what I can get done. Really need to finish removing the rest of the N shelf layout. With those pre-orders perhaps shipping this month and next, need to make some progress towards adding benchwork and larger radius trackage for a couple of them to roam on.
Have a great day all.
Rob
(need to borrow the alien.)
Dropping in again for some updates.
I called ace back and have an interview for a full-time job at 1030. If I get it, I'm going to work my fast-food job in the afternoons and evenings. I should have a good bit of extra income if I can land it. Which means more trains (maybe a few of the genesis GP38-2s, lol).
I may have sole some more locos. This time a box of 3 P2K GPs. Mostly GP18s in NKP, but they are mostly good for fodder or parts. I was going to convert some to phase 3 GP9s, but I can sell them to raise funds for other projects. I found a guy that may want them, and $50 for 3 (there are parts to make at least 2 complete ones and have fodder left over) is pretty good just for the drives IMO.
Gotta get ready for the interview.
Ken, your stuff is ready to go, but I don't think I'll be able to get it out today. I have the time, but my folks haven't payed me back the money for the vet bill. But they hould get it tomorrow.
Well
Got the grocery shopping done. Can't go for another 3 weeks if we don't get the SNAP funds. Will have to last us. Still haven't heard on SNAP. They may be waiting to see what if any funds are cut from the program die to sequester as cuts are affecting Meals On Wheels here too.
STILL AWAITING the call about MOH's unenjoyment...we assume NO NEWS IS GOOD news that we "won" but MOH called the dude and got an answering system left message. Was supposed to hear one way or the other in 48-72 business hours form last Thursday...so Fri. Mon and Tues all day and haven't heard that's 72 hours and they haven't asked for it back! so we assume no news is good news?
will do laundry but to save money on that I may have to start beating them against a rock in cold water....
Speaking of laundry I think a bearing is going in the dryer. It started squealing like a banshee {?} last load in it so I shifted load and restarted and the squeal went away. Crossing fingers that it is OK for now for awhile.
that's about it for now. Have to mail out a loan modification form to the CU to try to lower THAT payment so we can try to afford it on my SSD alone, but we can't no way no how,but we can for about 4 months if I work it right.
KEN- for $54k here you can buy a whole house...with basement for a layout...but i am sure property taxes here are higher than yours!
Well, off to a nap...well bed rest...my back is killing me.
I got the perfect layout size that I want, 4' x 4' should be enough with a divider so there'll be a double track main, and some industries to switch for operations. gottag
Morning All.
Well it is still morning out west. Temps should be mild, but the wind has been howling since 0130.
Got semi-annual blood test on Monday, for my cardio;ogist. Saw family doc yesterday regarding my knee, He made an appointment with orthopedic surgeon for me on Tuesday. Probably not osteoarthritis, just some calcification. We shall see.
Did some ballasting and ground cover scenery on the layout.
Hope to do some more later after grocery shopping and bill paying.
Prayers to all in need.

Good Evening!
The last day before the move! I just hope and pray that things will improve in the new location. I am really burned out - I wish someone else would take over from now...
Not a happy camper today.
Blessings !
Hello everyone.
Some work tonight and some tomorrow night. So a little extra money in my pocket.
No homework to do.
well,
no sooner did I get comfy and of course got the call for the free bread distribution. I got a loaf of: french, Italian "everything" bread, a bag of bagels, a 12 pack seseme seed Kaiser rolls, and a package of six donuts so MOH has some sweets. It is from the local grocery chain instead of day old sales they give free to area Churches for the poor. Since my nice neighbors administer it for Wednesdays, they share with some of us too. It is naturally a tax write off for the chain.
Still have not heard from Unenjoyment yet...MOH is unclear now as to what the guy said, but if they want it back, we have to know where to send it, so we are assuming that we "won". MOH did place a call to the guy today, but naturally got a message machine.
Nothing in the mail from Unenjoyment, SNAP or medicaid renewal. Wish we'd hear SOMEHTING from someone. Jsut junk mail naturally but it keeps the postal service going I guess.
I can mail in the loan modification, but MOH has to sign it too.
MOH went on errands for FIL and MIL. so have to snag MOH later over letter to CU.
Well, I guess NOW I go join MOH for a nap {who came home and went straight for one}.
Needless to say , I ignore those who are buying new trains, makes me a tad jealous, as I have had a 0 budget for 2 years now, and CERTAINLY don't have one now. Besides, I have torn my layout down to tracks, but haven't the budget to EXPAND it like I wanted.

Since we don't have the high winds today I went to town this morning to get refills on all my meds and send a package on it's way to Florida. I got home about noon and found two packages waiting on me. One was a box containing an assortment of nine freight cars from Bachmann, Roco, Mantua, Lionel and Life-Like. The other was the box with my new FP7. And it is literally new. E-R Models Rock Island 405. Not a scratch on it anywhere and the factory lube in the gear boxes. If it's ever been run before today I can't tell it. Upon opening it up I saw that it was DCC Ready. It took me about five seconds to plug a Digitrax DH123 into that socket. The loco runs like a Swiss watch. No gear noise, no motor hum. And I got this for under $40? I feel like I just ripped off the Crown Jewels and got away with it! I'll have to see if I can find more of these in this price range and pick them up as I can.

Posted this day, February 6th, 2013!
Afternoon folks!
Had just turned on the computer this morning when my son called. It seems his niece who has Rett Syndrome was taken by ambulance to Strong Hospital in Rochester last night (SIL's child). She had been throwing up since last Saturday and the local Emergency room thought she might have an intestinal blockage, hence the ride to Rochester. The family had to shuttle a car up to Rochester so the kids mom could drive back home and my son was providing transportation for his BIL who was driving the SIL's car for them. Guess who got to watch the Granddaughter so all this could happen? I had a bout 30 minutes to get breakfast, dressed, and over to my son's house. Got home about an hour ago. Good news is the little girl doesn't have a blockage, but they think just has a virus.
Ulrich, good luck with the move tomorrow. Yes, I think you deserve a break from all this stuff! Hope this works out well for your parents.
Tom, I must have missed the person asking about the bricks.... couple of reasons I was told, besides the fact that they do them that way these days. First off the new ones are made shorter than the old ones, and second if the basement gets a couple inches of water in it, the furnace is protected from the damage. My old furnace was basically rotted out at the bottom from the times water got on the floor in that part of the basement.
I have to get a large pile of materials sorted and ready to take with me to the Reunion Committee meeting tonight.
Later!
