Rob ...... That coughing problem must be solved. I recall being unable to sleep because of coughing. It lasted for weeks. I could not lay in bed without coughing. Doctors found out why. I had congestive heart failure. Not saying that's your problem at all, but you don't want this to continue.
I'll be under the layout today wiring my street lights.
Cheers.

I put the new tractor to work today. Went down and hooked the trailer up to it then came back here and loaded the trailer up with the drawers and bits and pieces from my kitchen cabinet as well as a water heater box. Took that all down to the burn pile and unloaded it. Then moved a few dozen edging pavers for my niece. Then I showed my nieces husband how to operate the new tractor putting special emphasis on DO NOT step on the brake pedal (only foot control on the thing) until the drive lever is in neutral. Pressing the brake while the drive lever is in forward or reverse will wear out the drive belt real fast. After that I parked it in the shed and came back home. Nothing more to report at this time.

bogp40Hi guys. Have been out of town and buried in a w**k project for the past month. Just got back from Fort Lauderdale (Hollywood) FL.
Beautiful work Stair reno's are always so time consuming. The ones I used to really love were the spiral stairs. Painstaking to build but very rewarding when finished both to the eye and my wallet.

Todd TMarshCDN Dennis- Nice colors. I would not (nor would Brenda) be brave enough to use bright colors for fear we wouldn’t like it when done. You should have seen her nervousness when we picked the color for the Kitchen/Dining room. And it isn’t a drastic change. Well, let me put it this way Todd, I'm an artist among other things and over our 43 years together MOH has learned to like color. She came from a really conservative family when we got together she started on a journey of discovery so to speak. Anyway, we really like color in our lives. Paint, clothing etc. Life in my opinion is kind of drab without color. Just look at nature in all her glory. Lots of color out there if you take the time to look. You don't suppose that is the reason I like doing model RR scenery more than any other facet of the hobby? Go Figure. Jeffrey Aren't you just finding all sorts of forgotten items in your ahh stored away stuff No it's decoders . It's all good! Well, back to house work. Cheers to all Dennis

Hi guys. Have been out of town and buried in a w**k project for the past month. Just got back from Fort Lauderdale (Hollywood) FL.
I hope all is well, haven't gone back over the Feb diner yet.
Was on a "remodeling marathon" of sorts- 20 straight long days of remodeling a gorgeous condo. Bellawood flooring, baseboards, new doors and trim along w/ rebuilding the staircase. Not something I would recommend doing on a regular basis. Boy am I beat but project was worthwhile and customer is quite thrilled.

Finished
Going to take a few days of rest to recover, drive back was tough (was able to fit all tools in my Caravan-taking the truck would have killed me in gas), looking forward to getting back to the club and my mountain of neglected RR projects. One plus is I missed out on that 28" of white stuff here in Boston.
Not even a cup of coffee- might keep me from a nap...
Take care and prayers for those in need.
Good Morning!!!
Coffee and the Sunday Breakfast Buffet please. Thanks.

Ray- Feel for ya on the leg cramps at night. I get ‘em from time to time especially in my feet and boy wow. Talk about waking up and can’t get out of bed fast enough to walk em off.
Tomorrow is the all town blackout. The power company is turning off the power to Williamsville for Lent. Helps us appreciate electricity more you know....... No seriously, they are w**king on putting all power lines underground here and they have been plugging away at who knows what here. The next step apparently requires them to kill the main line to the town. So, we will are “scheduled” to be out from 0630 until “approximately” 1030. Sooner if possible. No the lines aren’t buried but I guess for it to progress they have to be able to route power under ground as they go. Not sure just how this will happen as it does, but I’m willin to bet there will be multiple little power outages for a second or two as they switch things on and off for quite a while. Gonna keep the computer off when I’m not on it.. Power lines underground is a good thing I suppose, no ice problems to speak of, trees are not an issue for the most part so that cuts down on if there is a bad storm the amount of lines it would affect are few, rodent problems are very minimal and probably just a multitude of other advantages. So, goody goody I suppose. Anyway, won’t be in tomorrow morn at least. Too bad I already read MR for this month.
Yesterday……went as imagined except, no potato chips. I wanted the new Lays chicken and waffle flavor and the cheesey garlicbread flavor to try, but they didn’t have them. They had the Seracha (sp?) flavor but I don’t care for that sauce so I didn’t want those. So, a pack of bologna and a loaf of bread cost oh, and a pack of cheese, cost $90. That’s the problem with a Super Center. Not a problem for Wal-mart, but a problem for the likes of me. Did go eat (not our normal place) Chinese and found number 4 on the list of things in life that make me gag. Yes only four so far, so I consider myself lucky. Accidently ate some eel in sushi. No, didn't get sick, just thought I would for a couple seconds. I’ll not eat that anymore. Never had Sushi before so I figured, and my curiosity had been aroused for some time I will admit, why not. It won’t kill me….lot’s of people eat it. Next time I will ask what’s in it first. How was I to know a Dragon Roll had Eeel in it? Todd’s don’t like Eel, or rather Eel don’t like Todd. Also ate some jellyfish…., won’t eat that anymore either. Didn’t make me gag, but had a certain taste that kept on giving and seemed to get stronger with every chew and it wasn’t a good one either. I thought it was either, clear rice noodles or maybe sauted onion slivers in a light, yet unappetizingly green sauce. They need to label things better. Honestly though…., I probably would have given it a shot anyway. Hey, you never know til you try it.
Today…., well that remains to be seen. She still has not informed me of the time to get these bikes othern she will be “chatting” with a manager over the price for ten of them.
Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Now Jim, you should know that in 6/8 time there are only 2 beats in a measure with each beat split into 3 subdivisions. Almost never does a conductor have to actually use a pattern of 6 (even though we did have to learn it in conducting class). LOL In medieval times that was known as Time Imperfect, Prolation Perfect. Or in some modern theories: A measure in 2 beats with a background of 3, etc.
Karl, looks like you have the day planned...
I got up this morning to find several piles of cat vomit on the dining room rug... I immediately went and checked out Blackie. He seemed bright and cheerful and took his meds with no problem, so I think Man´t may have had a hairball problem. He has been acting not quite right this morning. I just hope he is not going to have an attack of the Feline Urinary tract problem he had when he was young...
I decided to skip church and sleep in today. I think I needed the sleep more than a sermon today. I woke up in the middle of the night with some severe leg cramps... Took a while to get them worked out (all in my left leg). Guess I was sleeping in a position that cut off the blood to that leg or something. I get them every now and then in both legs.
The weather is strange outside this morning. The weather guessers say it is cloudy but I can clearly see shadows of trees and such, and there are little white things falling out of the sky at the same time... I dunno? It is a nice and chilly 15°F here in the Finger Lakes with high predicted to be around 17°F sometime this afternoon. I need to bring in more wood and get the wood stove going.
Hope to have some photos later today of something I like to call "Progress".

Not much on tap for me, I have to change the aquarium water and maybe go look at buying a new water testing kit. I also have a new box of 120 painted HO figures that I need to get started on. Believe it or not painting figures is one of my favorite parts of the hobby. I could sit and paint figures for hours going by and not even notice it.
Coffee in a SUNNY SOUTHERN mug, please.
Had one of the worst nights of uncontrollable coughing yet. Poored sweat most of the night. Pulse-ox in the 80s. Challenging to feel very optimistic about much right now. Could always be worse though, I could be dead.
Cheers! Rob
Good morning. It's 37°F with 81% humidity. It'll be sunny with a high of 65°F.More layout cleanup on tap assuming I don't get side tracked by something/someone else. I'm also contemplating some light outdoor work. The drawers and other pieces ripped out of my kitchen cabinet last year are still laying out in the yard. Maybe it's high time I get them down to the burn pile. Such things are known to attract scorpions, snakes and any number of pests.

Gidday All, Being nice to Curt, I'll just have a banana milkshake please, besides I've not long had tea, roast pork and apple sauce gravy, with roast vegetables tossed with feta cheese and a balsamic vinaigrette, and steamed greens.
OzJim, good to hear about the new job.
Very dry here, total fire ban, and first time I've seen cracks in the lawn, supposed to have been rain today according to the weather guessers, obviously they need either new darts or dart board.
Wot rain????
That said and done I've have really nothing to complain about so......

Curt .... Did that cake mean it was your birthday? If so, I hope it was a good one. ...
I'm trying to catch up with stuff after the unexpected 3-day visit in Nashville. I'm glad to say Shelley's Mom is ding well now.
Shelley's cat, Sassy, just jumped up in front of the computer. She sees the mouse pointer movin across the screen and then bats it with her paw.
On the layout today, I added some sidewalk details to down town of my large city. It now has people, fire hydrants, mail boxes, etc. I am installing lighted street lamps, too. They are mounted on teh sidewalks now, and I need to get under the layout to connect wires.
Good Evening, Janie - I'll have a hot fudge sundae please, with a Santa Fe mug of coffee. Thank you!
Rob, sorry for the delay, but I have the Walthers (kit version of) 90 foot turntable. I just looked at it and the directions, and it doesn't show anything about the track connections. I expect that the tracks in the roundhouse (and outside of it) are just wired separately from the one on the turntable. Shouldn't be too hard to have the turntable track with a reversing switch. (But then again, I'm not the electronic guru!) Good to hear your new w**ker there has good w**k habits!
BN Gary - I would second Ray's suggestion. I am guessing (from the cost) that it's a college class, right? They should have math tutors, most likely, so don't be bashful about getting in touch with one (with the level of trouble that the course has been giving you) that's one of their best - on FRACTIONS. Don't give up on yourself or on the math; get any and all help/tutoring that you can find. Are they having you calculate cube roots? Sheesh! That is quite a bit.
Ray, I thought if you taught music (Irish, anyway), a music teacher had to be able to count to six...? I would chime in about your excellent job on your water tower. Good to hear that Blackie may be improving.
Jeffrey, it sounds like you and your family members had a good time (& feed), as well as some good MRR-recruiting on your great-nephew. On your Nikon, dependent on an inspection of it, all it may need is possibly an adjustment of the spring which tends to be how the battery lid stays shut or open. And I'm sure if you get a good look at it with enough light, you will fix it up! [Edit]: I see you introduced your great-nephew to your layout! I was pretty sure once that happened, you'd have him totally hooked on trains.
Ken, I hope things at work either improve or at least ease off for you.
CDN Dennis, how's the Window project coming along?
C'mon Broadway - who were you rooting for in the SB (or TB as rdgk1se3019-Dennis called it)? Me, I'm like Jeff - I go to those chip 'n' dip festivities for the commercials!
My favorite SB ad also was the Dodge farmer one (ex-FIL was one, and my buddy Mark does some farming on his place). The Volkswagen one was a close runner-up for me. Halftime show? Haven't seen one on SB that was worth the time for a while... (IMHO, of course - but if they had one with Ziva singing, Todd would like it I'm sure... )
And Karl, I would guess that you're a 49'ers fan, right? (said as CapeJim ducks behind the Rivet Counter...)
JR - So our Aussies and Yank accents are like North Carolina and Texas accents, eh? LOVE IT!! Hey, if you have some pics/mini-tutorial for how you are doing the turnout actuators, please post!
Jake - to the Diner, and have a beverage of your choice on me! Nice photo of your layout, too. (HO, N scale, whatever - good MRR'ing is good MRR'ing - just look at what DerJohn does in iNvisible scale!)
Speaking of DerJohn, wonder how his & CFO's house-hunting for a new place is coming along? Guess I should email him, eh?
Ulrich - for you, your family, and for your father. As others said, if it is his time to pass on, may he go peacefully.
Todd, Todd, Todd... - now how many 'squeaky clean' power plants have you seen? (Especially if they're coal-fired like Ray's is...)
Galaxy, good that your hip therapy went well. How has YOH's job hunt been coming along (and/or the appeal on being fired)?
Vincent (Packer) - got any tips for Jake on a good BN color scheme book? Figured you might know something about that.
OzJim, impressive Geep there! Is she a good puller, too?
V8Vega Dennis - good score on the couch/love seat.
Only maybe halfway along in catching up on the Diner posts (should've done some more reading today, but had the laptop tied up most of the day, cloning the internal drive to a 1TB external drive). Tomorrow after church, hope to open up the used Mac Mini I got a bit ago, bump the RAM to 8GB and swap the smaller drive that's in that, with the 1TB drive. So may be able to get some time after that to swing by the Diner.
Prayers will continue for all those in need of healing, comfort, better w**k situations, and a good night(or day)'s sleep.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape G.
Got a little cleanup work done on the layout today. I was digging through a box of old stuff today and found a couple of decoders. A DH123 and an old Lenz decoder, model unknown. All it has on it is HND SL1 49/02. I clipped a 9-pin harness on it and tested it and it tests as good. The DH123 was toast. So at this time I have a Bachmann 44913 decoder, two Digitrax decoders (DH123, DZ125) and the unidentified Lenz decoder.Well it's time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
Evenin' folks!
Janie, since I'm still stuffed fro all the good food at the Luau, I just need a cup of decaf to sooth my spirit before bed...
I tried out the USB Stick in the PIP today. Works great! I even figured out how to adjust the EQ and all that good stuff. Listened to some Dooby Brothers for a bit, then came back in the house and played in the train room. I decided to fix the Tortoise Machine I messed up a couple months ago. It trows the turnout on the top level to the two staging tracks. I managed to pour some envirotex light back there that ran down the hole and ended up clogging the tortoise. I managed to break the lever free a couple days after the pour and got to work more or less... Well time showed it was less and not more. I still thought I could get it working until the wire to the turnout popped out of the tortoise. So today was the day to remove, repair and replace it. Of course this particular machine is back in a place impossible to get myself where I can work on taking it out, and even worse trying to get the &@$# thing installed. It only took a couple minutes to get it out, about 15 minutes to change out the tortoise on the block I use, and then about 2 and a half hours to put back in place. I used all the words mommy said she would wash my mouth with soap for using and several more I don't think she even knew!!! Frankly I think my FIL who was a plumber would have been embarrassed to be around me by 5:00 tonight...
Did a bit more plaster work on the scenery section. Tomorrow I will start painting it.
Hope you all have a good night! Prayers for all in need...
Should go up soon. Too many mega stuffed Oreos tonight. Night everyone.
Curt WebbI can't believe that I have had top of page two nights in a row. Please be gentle.

Well if you recall about a month back I dropped my Nikon L20 camera and broke the battery door latch. Obviously this presented a problem as the door wouldn't stay closed. A temporary solution was to use a piece of tape to hold it closed. This worked short term as the adhesive wouldn't hold for long and the tape had to be changed anyway when the SD card was inserted or removed. I toyed with several ideas on how to fix this inexpensively (as in as close to $0 as possible) but they all required tools I don't possess. Well being the ingenious redneck that I am I continued to mull over the problem and today I came up with a solution that would work, didn't cost anything and was so simple I don't know why I didn't think of it before. I cut the handle off an old spoon and made a clamp. It just slides on and off the end of the camera, doesn't require adhesives and it doesn't get in the way.
I can't believe that I have had top of page two nights in a row. Please be gentle.
