Evening All,
Back from supper and with Mom and Dad.
I got the mine and hill painted brown and rock faces applied so all thats left is the ground cover and some detail work that hopefully will be finished this coming week.
I will probably have to take my truck back to the shop again this week. It's taking 4-5 cranks to get it to start and then I smell gas so I am hoping it is only a carburetor that needs adjustment.
Well I hope everybody has a good Sunday and prayers for those in need.

Good evening.
Not much going on today. Really just relaxing, aside from inspecting my 6466W tender.

Dear Rob & Friends
Whatever I have, it'll have to be very soft because my mouth is hurting, too.
Just like Rob, my mouth is hurting more now than the day I had it worked on. In my case, the periodontist grafted two samples of gum tissue from the roof of my mouth, covered the roots of my front two bottom teeth, and clipped the frenulum that was causing my lower gum to recede.
I haven't gotten any modeling done this week, but I did receive Woodland Scenics's Granny's House (already built), Branchline Trains's Center Hall Depot (my first structure kit), a US$25 status grass applicator from eBay (looks fantastic for a homemade product), a cutting mat, some PollyScale paint, and some extra-thick, gap-filling superglue. I bought three digital books and a how-to DVD for building waterways from Dave Frary.
I plan to paint my son's track tomorrow. This will be my second try. I didn't cover the rails completely on my first try.
I hope your weekends are going better than mine, at least in terms of productivity on your layouts and excellent oral health.
Have a good night.

jeffrey-wimberlyYeah, well I chopped the quote pyramids down to molehills. Let's try to keep it under control, OK?
Jeffrey... I figured you were the one that truncated my nice long and pretty quoted post... LOL I was just trying to make the point... No need to call Vinnie, I'll behave! Barry is right, the new forum format is terrible if there is more than one level of quote in a post.

sorry force of habit, from other forums that I do and used to participate in. I think I built a quote pyramid unintentionally, sorry.
Just finished removing the masking tape off the trim in the Kitchen repaint. Two walls done two to go but not today Need a day or two off before I tackle the other two walls with the cupboards on them. Here are a couple of before and after shots of the walls. Heck, it only took 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of color to cover up the brown. Which reminds me... got to buy some sunglasses cause it's BRIGHT
Actually not planning a whole lot today. Maybe I'll spend some time in the RR room putting in that window insulation. That should not be too bad.
Anyway, have a good one and CU later

Well this morning I got decoder in the CN C420 changed out. It now has a Digitrax DZ125. This loco is one of my Frankenlocos and as such it's an unusual looking thing. It's a Lima C420 body on a Stewart AS16 frame resting on Proto 2000 FA1 trucks that have Athearn blue box worms and shaft couplings. It's powered by an Athearn motor with hex flywheels. I made the drive shafts by gluing pieces of hex shafts into pieces of blue box shafts. Originally the steps of the Lima loco were part of the trucks. I cut them off of the trucks and super glued them to the bottom of the body shell. So looking at the front and rear of the loco there's no pilot facings, just the coupler with the steps to either side.As an additional project I installed body mounted Kadee 148 couplers on a metal framed Mantua tank car.
Ah... Gary? Is there a reason you are quoting all the quotes? Just wondering as they now look quite silly, really!

Hello everyone.
Got a haircut this morning. Hence why I'm late getting on.
Not much going on today.
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe..... Ah..... Very nice outfit my dear, you look stunning! What's the occasion? Ah a Luau! i should have guessed. (WOW......! The grass skirt is .... Better not say it here....) Ahem, I'll have some dark roast Kona coffee and a trip to the breakfast bar this morning...
Gloomy and dark outside. It's what the weather guessers call partly cloudy around here... I am happy to report yesterday I did surpass last month's total for electric output. As of last night the panels kicked out 94.75 Kwh of power. If the bright yellow orb comes out for a while later I should see 100 Kwh for the month today. Not great but OK for this time of year.
Not much planned for today. Probably should go over the latest NMRA Membership list and update my records for the Division. I do plan to spend some quality time downstairs in the layout rooms. I have several projects that should be getting done soon. There are others I am waiting for some items that have been out of stock for at least 10 months now. Need railbars for Details West. I got an email and was told they are still having problems getting a working set of molds to produce them and they hope it will be in production shortly.
Curt, hope it isn't raining down there in Flowiduh where you are... Might not get the mountain to dry well....
Catch you all later.
[edit] looks like my procrastination earned me top honors this morning.... Zoe has my credit card, go easy please.)
Coffee in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please.
Have a good day all.
Morning All,
Sitting here drinking a cup of coffee and looking over the forum.
Well the mountain is still damp so MOH suggested I sit it outside to help it dry. Why didn't I think of that?
I'm wearing a new pair of work boots around the house to see if they will need further breaking in before I wear them at work. They feel strange to me since this is the first pair I have had with a zipper in them.
Ken- If the QSI decoder is completely shut down, to restart it is a double tap F6 or F6 F6. If that does not work try the address 03. My original BLI M1 has QSI in it and from time to time it loses it's mind and the cab number, but it works using the default address. This has happened to me several times.
Todd- Thanks for the birthday wishes.
I will try to check in later but if not I will talk to you either Tue or Wed.
Hope everyone has a good day and prayers for those in need.
Morning..
Kinda sunny but ccold out today...getting those little tiny snowflurries later on..high of 22F expected...
Got a few thing to pick up today then off to friend's to go play with his trains...lol
Have a good one!
Good Morning!!!
Coffee, my regular French Roast please, and a Veggie omelet. Oh and could you put some ham in it as well? Thanks. I hate that word “Veggie”.
Talk about Hate the weather wait a day….we’re on a roller coaster ride. A small one, but it’s still obb-e-noxious.
Oh I think plane and ship travel is safe. Very safe I’d say. Considering how many flights and….um…floats(?) are going on daily. Keep in mind every plane and ship that has any issue gets reported about in the national news. Even if a two seater private plane crashes in Norway you hear about it. Ya two ships have had problems here lately, one much worse than the other, but realistically, out of how many cruise ships having been under way in that time frame? Or in the last year. Or better yet, the total mishaps compared to the total “trips” since say the Titanic, not counting wars, worldwide. If you compare the same numbers for auto’s in the U.S. alone……. Using that reasoning, you wouldn’t even want to be near a car. Or…yes it’s true, travel by rail. Way more incidents involving rail too. Whyyyyy Ray just reported one just now. Not trying to say anyone’s wrong for feeling the way they do, nope, not at all. Each is entitled to their own opinions, and Lord knows there are things I won’t do that others can apply the same type of reasoning to, just sayin.
Hey Curt, Happy Birthday to your Dad!
Luau?! We’re having a Luau? Oo! Zoe in a grass skirt…….
Welp, no plans for today othern w**k on setting the bridge. How-ev-eeeer, let me give some clues that makes me believe this will not be a stay at home weekend for Todd and that come Monday that bridge may still be sitting on the bench where it is now. First, she already asked if Sunday we could go get the ten bicycles for the Easter egg hunt the Foundation gives away. So Sunday including Church is done. Now for today, yesterday she wanted me to think of what we may need from the store because she was going into town last night. Clue; this morning the three item list is still laying on the counter. Meansshe didn't finish the list. Reason...I didn't write anything down therefore she didn't know if I knew of something we needed, therefore...my fault the list was not compiled AND...since the list was not complete there was no sense in going to the store. Therefore, once again my fault so no use in complaining about it. She did however make some progress on her game of Riven on her iPad. So, today we will be going in to town to do the shopping as we won’t be able to with a truck load of bicycles on Sunday and that's ok by me because I tell you what, I ain’t a gonna push a grocery cart AND deal with ten bicycles at the same time. She also knows how I feel about two trips to town in one day. Same amount of trips I know, but it just doesn’t seem the same (see? can reason against me just like I said earlier). Now that also means today, she will want to eat out because, well, we’re in town and accompanying me.... is my money. Keep in mind this woman can also turn a hour trip into town into a day long excursion and when you get home you think..how in the world did that take sooooo long no more than we did? And you will spend the next hour trying to figure it out. Then of course it's bedtime. Maybe she drugs me and time just goes by un noticed.
Anyway, as for tomorrow….guessing basically the same. Good thing we got that new stove. Oh I hope we don't bring those bikes home like last year.
Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good morning. It's 35° with 66% humidity. It'll be sunny with a high of 55°.Well today I guess I'll tear into the CN C420 and rip out the Bachmann decoder that's in there and replace it with a Digitrax decoder. Other than that I suppose some layout cleanup is needed as there's locos, cars, boxes and other stuff all over. It looks kinda like the result of an explosion in a machine shop.
{mmm smell that? take a deep whiff... smell it now?}

It's after 3:00am and the tooth I had worked on Monday is acting up and keeping me awake. Had not needed to take anything for it since that one time right after the dentist had at it. Oh well, need to get some sleep. Will be back for coffee later in the morning.

OK, how do you wake up a QSI Decoder sound decoder? I must have pushed the wrong button. I can get it to start, rev the motor but the darn thing just sits there! Either I but it is a sort of sleep mode, or the repair Simon 1966 (site member ) did failed? That would be very un Simon like, he does great work!

Cool! Have fun and get some photos to share...
Ran a few needed errands today. Had to get more coffee beans... Dark roast of course! So while I was at Mother Earth Natural Foods downtown I bought several bars of organic dark chocolate... Yum! Snacks for a couple weeks. Went acroos town and got my allergy shot and went next door and picked up more screens for the hearing aids. I just got two packs of them about a week ago and they have disappeared. Only thing I can think of is that they got knocked off the counter and landed in the waste basket. While I was walking into Mother Earth Natural Foods I happened to run into a retired Science Teacher from the Middle School. We have been friends for 30 years or so having worked Outdoor Education for many years together. he was also the Chartered Partner Rep from the Methodist Church for the Cub Pack I was Commissioner for. We stood and talked for about 15 minutes, mostly about Solar Panels and EVs... He owns a farm outside of town and has put in both a huge Solar array on his roof and a small wind turbine in a field. He is another nut case like me...
Did a bit more plaster w*rk on the scenery module. Tomorrow I hope to start painting the plaster rocks to match some real ones I have (like I did with the other corner). Took a couple photos but the card is still in the camera... I also stopped at Staples and bought a 32 Gig USB stick. The PIP can play MP3s directly off a USB memory stick so I spent a couple hours figuring out how to convert my AIFF files to MP3s for the PIP. Found that iTunes can't do such a thing as it can only convert when it imports songs... SO I found an App at the Apple Store that can convert from the AIFF files to MP3s. Very expensive... $3.99. I converted a few playlists to use in the car. I will check out how well it works tomorrow.
I was going to make a comment about if an asteroid hitting Towanda , PA it might be considered urban renewal, but I won't.... Just joking, I like Towanda, PA. Nice town to drive through.... In fact I have driven through there many times on my way to Shunk, PA near Camp Brulé (Boy Scout Camp). The camp is centrally isolated and involves driving 8 miles on an old dirt road to get there. You turn right at New Albany, go over the bridge at the Creek, then drive up the switchbacks on the side of the mountain and hope for the best. Especially in the middle of Winter... Yep been there!
Have a great night and prayers for those in need!

I said that the BN FP7 would be tomorrows project. Well, I got bored and converted it this evening. It now has a Digitrax DH123 decoder in it. I opened up the trucks to lube them and WOW! They were already lubed. Over lover lubed as a matter of fact. Big time! The gears were swimming in grease! I mopped out as much as I could then lubed the gears lightly and snapped the trucks back together. After it was all wired and ready I programmed it and took it for a test run. Quiet as an Atlas it ain't. It sounds more like an Athearn. I discovered one additional thing. The motor was tightened down too tight and causing the flywheel to rub against the frame. Loosening it up a little took care of that. Somewhere along the way someone changed out the axle gears. I have several of these FP7's already and they all have red gears. The gearbox gears in this one are red all right but the axle gears are white. I just looked at the gears in the UP unit and it's exactly the same. My other ones the gears are of uniform color. Of course these are around thirty-five years old so they have quite a bit of use on them already. This BN unit as I said is somewhat noisy but it's a stump puller and it's quieting down the more I run it. Right now it's coupled up with my CN C420 Frankenloco and being run back and forth around the layout. Soon as the donor FP7 gets here I'll fix the UP unit and convert it to DCC. My CN C420 Frankenloco has a Bachmann decoder in it at present. It'll soon be getting a Digitrax DZ125.
