Good afternoon.
First of all ........... HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Bil!
Next ..... Ken we're very worried about you, and we pray for your health.
Galaxy and Todd ...... Regarding the number of dogs, I'm embarressed to say, I was wronmg. The camera was not zoomed in close enough to see there were 4 dogs with the little girls having a birthday picnic. Add that to the one at the fire hydrant and 2 for the bus. ...... 7 dogs........ I bet a 7 dog night woul be bitterly cold, Galaxy.
JohnBoy ...... Glad you liked the bus picture. You were talkingabout the changes with Greyhound. I think much of that began with the US deregulation movement. In 1979 and 1980 there were laws enacted which deregulated transportation. Canada may have similar experiences. In order to compete in the deregulated environment, companies began cutting costs. I'm much more familiar with deregulation of freght railroads than buses and airplanes. Railroads shifted away from common carrier pricing to contract carrier pricing. It was easier to merge, and now there are many "fallen flags". Most merchandise now moves by intermodel trains instead of in boxcars. Most bulk commodities are priced in trainloads now instead of carloads. .... Back to buses transport, I recall Greyhound and Trailways underwent some big changes. Cost cutting did impact the drivers, too, from what I remember ..... I sometimes see discount bus lines such as Mega-Bus on the road in recent travels. .... Times change.
Rob ..... Glad to see you are getting good ideas. I like the Pennsy 4-4-4-4.
Barry ..... I hope your health situation is improving.

Flo, and antibiotic chaser pleases!
Little bad news today, Simon said there where no EM 1's at the train show. I cannot make my self pull the trigger on a internet site, but if he showed up with one I would be obligated to pay for it!
Again I am truly touched about the out pouring concern of my current hurtle health wises! Thank You Folk's it means a lot to me!
So far the 2 new Antibiotic's have seen to have no effect. But, it has just been a little over 24 hours now so I will give them a little time.
Far as seeing Health Professionals that know how to deal with Diabetic Issues I think I am, I hope! The Anderson Express Care Visit was a stop gap till this Tuesday. That is when I will be seen again by the Leg and Foot Ulcer Clinic at the VA Hospital. But, I have to admit I wish I could afford a second opinion!
I think the main problem with my current free care, is it is free! The VA is understaffed, underfunded and over whelmed with us old Vets! I am pretty sure if I or a insurances was flipping the bill my visits would not be put off to every 4 to 5 weeks. When the wound looks bad, they will check every week! But there lies the problem! With the wound being open, it take about two weeks for a new infection to set in!
See you all later.

Evening All,
I finished the track work today (soldering, painting, and ballasting) and fixed the small section of track on the back of the layout. Next stop is scenery. I will be putting in some small hills as Ken suggested between the tracks to break things up.
Supposed to be in the mid 80's all week so w**k will probably be busy.
Hope Ken is alright.
Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.

Good Evening!
Chloe, I urgently need some strong coffee, please!
I spent the afternoon on the drawing board, preparing the construction drawings for the row of houses in the back of the first module. Now that I have learned how to make scale windows, I was able to adapt the buildings more to what they look in reality. The previous drawings were based on commercially available window inserts, which do not match the prototype.
Here is a picture of the prototype :
Too bad the place is a three hours drive away - I wish I could go there to take some more pictures.
Any news about Ken?
Blessings to all, especially those in need!
Morning All...Rain and 28 here..gonna start freezing...Coffee and toast please..Thank You...Listening to some old Jerry Lee Lewis recored live...Talked to Sallie's nurse at hospital in Indy this morning She had a fair nite and alittle breakfast...
Happy Birthday Bill!!..
You all have a good one!!...
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe I'll have a bowl of hot oatmeal with brown sugar and lots of dark roast coffee to wash it down with.
Another dark and gray day here in the Finger Lakes. Current temperature 51°F. A bit too warm for this time of year. What little snow left on the ground will be gone by evening. Looking at some rain this afternoon.
Ahem.... All together now! "Hippo Birdie Two Ewes, Hippo Birdie two Ewes, Hippo Birdie Deer Bill, Hippo Birdie two Ewes!!!" Sorry bill I didn't have time to make the more formal version for you....
Still exited about seeing the deer in my front yard under the Quince tree last night. We are talking about 50' from the house. Looked to be a young doe, fairly small, and most probably very hungry as the oaks had almost no acorns around here last fall due to the drought. She is probably just feeding where ever she can find a bit of food.
Do hope Ken has made it to an emergency room and is being properly treated!

Happy Birthday Bill!!!!

Well looking back on yesterday’s forecast for today, they preeeetty much got it right with the exception of the sn*w. No Sn*w to be seen. Ice, but no sn*w. Not much ice either thank goodness. Not sure if it even iced the roads or concrete, haven’t been out the front, but it did a job making the trip across the back porch to get the dog to her bathroom a trip. Or should I say slide.
I did stop in later yesterday but didn’t comment, just checking on Ken you know and saw Simons comment. By the way, thanks Simon! I know jobs are tough to come by and you gotta take what you can get, but I sure wish he could get a job that doesn’t require standing so much. That can NOT be good for him with being a diabetic and all. You’d think they’d get him a stool. Shoot, they even get a stool at Walmart.
OK Ken, come on, go to the hospital. Can’t tell you how many Mis-diagnoseseseses…es have been done at a clinic. Not knocking them they are good to take a lot of the well, let’s face it “not so emergencies” out of the emergency room. You however do not have the sniffles or a sore elbow and they really don't staff them with much other than general medicine. They send the ones to the hospital. Their kinda like screeners.
Not much planned for today othern hopefully get into the trainroom baring any idiot box distractions. No NCIS marathon so I got THAT going for me. Kinda skipping Church today and don’t have any plans to go into town….yet. Course Brenda hasn’t spoken, but I’m thinking baked ravioli for dinner. She may change my mind and decide we need to go in town at juuuuuust the right time to eat. But I doubt it. We decided that before we went to the grocery store yesterday. Before that, we went to the buffet so she got her fix. Kinda surprised she wanted too so soon after the “there you go baby” incident. We got the one who answers to Jenny, most times, so there was no “special treatment” for me. Just good service thank you real much. She's the one Brenda just has trouble communicating with and things would get kinda confusing until I finally got it through to her, listen to what she says and answer ONLY what she asks. Nothing more. Anything else, let me handle. Yesterday.....everything was fine.

Morning All,
Getting ready to go out and buy some bird food then hope to get some stuff done on the layout. I am back to w**k tomorrow.
The Prototype Rails show I attended yesterday was great. The only blemish was on the way home a brush fire caused a 1 hour detour so it took me 2.5 hours to get home instead of 1.5.
Bill- Happy Birthday
Ken- I really hope you went to the ER after the urgent care. I went to a urgent care here last year and was misdiagnosed and ended up in the Hospital for 4 days.
Hope everyone has a good day and prayers for those in need.
happy birthday!
today I get to work morning shift hopefully it goes quick.
Bill: Hapy birthday!

Good morning. It's 46° with 100% humidity. Weather today is rain and isolated thunderstorms with periods of heavy rain thrown in for variety. The high will be 55°.It's after 7:30 and still dark with this heavy cloud cover. Weather radar shows some very nasty stuff moving in our direction and really I wish it would go somewhere else.No plans for today. I'll probably just watch some movies or some documentaries and listen to the rain hitting the roof. No layout work planned and right now I really don't care.

Can someone please tell me, what that white stuff coming out of the clouds is? It´s snowing, but very lightly. I hope the roads stay clear - I have to do some diving tomorrow.
Any news about Ken? Man, he really got me worried! One can gamble with his/her own money, even borrowed money, but never with the own life.

I have a cold, it has now settled into my chest, and when that happens, I can typically get Bronchitis, but at the drop of a hat it can turn to Pneumonia on me...that is how my system works...I tell y'all this so that if I become amongst the missing that you know that I have been admitted to the HOSPITAL. I will get into the Drs tomorrow or Tuesday hopefully..IF I can't and it gets worse, I WILL go to the ER!
Since I feel like DEATH WARMED OVER, I figure we will look at : "the quick and the dead",SO:
Meaning:
All souls - alive or dead
Origin:
This rather archaic phrase has been used as the title of various films and plays in recent years, notably the 1995 film, starring Sharon Stone. This had a 'gunslinger hits town' plot line and the film's tagline was 'The Quick and the dead - in this town, you're either one or the other'. That clearly uses the popular meaning of 'quick', i.e. 'fast' - in this case on the draw. The earliest meaning of 'quick' had nothing to do with speed, it meant 'endowed with life', or more simply, 'alive', as opposed to the current 'lively' meaning. To 'quicken' was to receive life and the first movement of a baby in the mother's womb was called the quickening. This use of 'quick' is extremely old and is recorded, as 'cwice', in an Old English translation of the Orosius Histories, dating from around the 4th century. The word has largely died out now, although we still retain the meaning in words like 'quicksand', i.e. sand that moves and has 'life', or the bubbling and gurgling 'quicklime'.
The quick and the dead are referred to several times in the Bible. These texts relate to judgment, with the admonition that only the divine may judge the quick and the dead. The first English citation of the phrase is consequently from the 1385 Wycliffe Bible:
And thei schulen yyue resoun to hym, that is redi to deme the quyke and the deed.
The more easily deciphered King James' Version renders this as:
Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
MAy you all have a wonderful LIVELY day!
Do a good deed for someone and smile while you do it!!!
Good evening All,
Happy Birthday Bill.

This is the NKP depot in the town I was born in (Bluffton Ohio), 65 years ago today. When I was a child, my grandfather would meet us here when we were coming from Indiana to visit. I can still remember the smell of the diesel exhaust from the big Alco PAs that pulled the NKP passenger trains.
TIPTON
Evenin' folks!
Janie, just a decaf please.
Actually spent a bit of time this evening doing some layout stuff! Building the metal framework to hold the water tower. I think it will look good when finished and hopefully be believable. It is based on the type of structures on buildings in NYC.
My son stopped in after work tonight on his way home to give a project he is building another coat of paint. It's a combination bench and toy chest for the girls. This one is for #1 and he will be painting the second soon.
Looked out my living room window a couple minutes ago and there is a deer browsing in my front lawn. I came into the dining room where I have large picture windows, turned off the lights and watched her for a while. She finally stared back at me for a bit and then took off to the neighbors house across the street. I have seen a few deer traveling through the property in years past, but this is the first one I have seen enjoying dinner in my lawn. Bunnies are around all the time...
Prayers for all in need, and an extra few for Ken!
Greetings from LAX,
No not X Louisiana, we're laying over waiting for the second leg of the flight to New Zealand. I've been remiss checking in but have tried to keep up on news. Sorry to hear of the spate of bad employment news and layoffs. Been through all of that over time and it's really gut wrenching.
No progress on the layout to report though the music wire from Tower Hobbies and the shrink tube did show up yesterday but too late for me to try any of it on the turnouts.
I will peruse the rest of the posts I missed today and be back in a bit. CUL, J.R.
Evening folks. A steamed veggie plate with brown rice and a mint tea, please.
***Ken, sure hope you are listening to and following through on the advice being given to you in here. It is coming from people who have experience with it.
***Jeffrey, looks like Mother Nature will be rocking and rolling, preferably not with your home.
Got a lot of farm stuff done, with much resting between work intervals. One barn shed room cleared out (filled the pickup truck), old fridge gone (can see down the driveway again), and even got Tinytoon's shoes back on (now have glue fingers).
Been contemplating such things as being able to have (if still available) some dream locomotives I have long salivated over but they were either not available in N scale, or wouldn't work on the smaller layout. With a large room entirely devoted to only HO scale, such cool looking locos as the Paragon 2 Steam PRR Class T-1 4-4-4-4, Mallets, and others can be considered.
Leaning strongly towards both a mining and logging based theme with a thru passenger run. Still want 2 mainlines for "running trains" when it suits me. A good time to finally go entirely DCC.
Have a good night all. Healing thoughts to those in need.
I can hear the wind coming up as a storm is coming toward us through Texas. Radar shows it to be a mean looking thing. We have a 90% chance of rain tonight and another 90% tomorrow. Looks like the rain will continue all through the week. Will it never end? Here's the current radar image.Nothing was done on the layout today. Too darn tired to even care.
Sent Ken a PM to show what one infected sore can lead to if not tended to properly.Time to get out of here before the storm hits. See y'all tomorrow provided we still have power and cable.
Good Evening...
Got nice and warm up here today...and really sunny...in fact we ended up having a BBQ outside on our back deck tonight...under the stars.....beautiful evening out here....
Have a good evening peeps!!
Ken: Having had certain types of infection myself recently I know whereof I speak.......dang chemo....
Ken: Get thee to a nearby ER, stat!!!! As in, immediately!!!! No fooling around here with that infection!!!!!
