Well I just watched the dropping of the ball in Times Square. That's good enough for me. Call it 2013 even though it's 11pm here. And with that I'm calling it a night. Time for this disabled veteran to hit the sack. See y'all tomorrow.

Good Morning!
... and welcome to Vienna, Austria!
OzJim - I just took an A and an L out of Australia to arrive here!
Here is what we will do in the next few days:
We will stay a couple of days in Vienna and roam this wonderful city. A bus will take us to our hotel, which happens to be the famous Hotel Sacher. We will have a few hours of rest, before we will be heading to the traditional New Year´s Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Following that is a guided tour of the city, a visit to St. Stephan´s Cathedral and coffee and cake at Cafe Landmann. Tonight, we will go to the Opera to see Richard Strauss´ "Die Fledermaus" (The Bat). Dinner will be at the famous restaurant §Die 3 Husaren", where the Imperial family used to dine.
Following our stay in Vienna, we will be exploring Austria by rail, visiting Melk Monastery, St. Poelten, Mariazell, St. Wolfgang, Ischl, Innsbuck.
Enjoy the tour with me!
Austria, Huh?
Its cold and snowy here....
we got up just to watch the crystal ball in Times Square drop...can you tell we are "older"? we go to bed to get up to watch it, not stay up late to watch it!!!
fec153 asked for The meaning of the word AMEN? HUH? As it can be {isn't always- but usually is}- a religious word, I will keep it brief:
well:
The word amen (pron.: /ˌɑːˈmɛn/ or /ˌeɪˈmɛn/; Hebrew: אָמֵן, Modern amen Tiberian ʾāmēn; Greek: ἀμήν; Arabic: آمين, ʾāmīn ; "So be it; truly") is a declaration of affirmation found in the Hebrew Bible and New Testament. Its use in Judaism dates back to its earliest texts. It has been generally adopted in Christian worship as a concluding word for prayers and hymns. In Islam, it is the standard ending to Dua (supplication). Common English translations of the word amen include "verily" and "truly". It can also be used colloquially to express strong agreement, as in, for instance, "amen to that".
Oddly, to get a scriptural answer to what “Amen” means, we go to a place where it is used not as the last word but the first word. Jesus would often start a solemn statement by saying "Verily" or "Truly". In John's gospel (eg Jhn 3:3) Jesus is recorded as using the word twice in succession, "Verily, verily, I say to you...". This is actually the word “Amen”.
When we compare an instance of this in Mark, with the same statement in Luke, we find Mark has left the word untranslated (just as αμην “Amen”), but Luke has translated it using the word αληθος "Truly". (Mark 9:1, Lke 9:27). This shows us that the underlying meaning of the word “Amen” is truth and verity. It is a solemn affirmation. When we say, “Amen” we are saying, "Yes before God I agree with that, I believe that to be true, I want that to be so".

Good Evening All,
Thanks for all the kind words. Truth be known, none of the track is fastened down, it's just pinned in place until I figure out the turnout rods. Fergie used control cable under the layout and I want to try something similar with it just embedded in the foam The layout is 6ft wide at the yard with the yard just over 5 ft of that. The outer loops enclose the yard just like Danbury and the stub end yard tracks are about 8 ft overall with a 2 ft throat off the loop. At the back is the reversing track also like the Danbury yard and it crosses over the Still River with which I took some liberties by enclosing part of it in big pipes where in fact the Army Corps of Engineers in 1955 just put it in a big concrete channel after it overflowed and flooded all of downtown (one too many times).
This showsmost of the loop track and yard with the freight house off to the left inside the loop. The station will be to the ouside of the loop in the lower left corner. The freight house shown is a place holder until I figure out what to build the permanent one out of. I favor wood as the real one was clapboard siding and two stories tall beyond the transfer dock. At the back is the proposed location for the turntable and 3 stall round house. There was also a back shop behind the round house but I may not have room for it there. I also need to locate the big coal dock and distribution shed within the loop so it's still all up in the air for now.
About half an hour to go here to midnight so I did want to wish you all a Happy New Year. Austria should be cool but I think maybe Todd started the schnapps too early and is mistaking folks in Lederhosen for roos. Wrong hemisphere my friend. Too many egg rolls tonight?
Well I will back into the corner before things get too wild. I remember last time it took several days to straighten the diner out not to mention recover from Vinnies actions to restore order. At least they put the chandelier away before hand this year. Sure don't need folks swinging from it again. And I swear I have no idea who threw those cherry bombs under the rivet counter. I know I couldn't reach it from here so it couldn't possibly have been me. Really

You'd never guess it was New Years Eve by the temperature here. It's warm enough that I have the a/c on. Looks like it's gonna be a wet one tonight. The chance of rain after midnight is 100% and the low will be 55.Not much done on the layout since this morning. Just been watching a long freight make the rounds.
Todd: uuummmmmm...did you miss the lack of an "L" in Austria?
Good Evening...

HAPPY NEW YEAR, folks. May it bring improved health and much MRRing.
So, for those of you already a year ahead, what's it like in the future? I'm still stuck in 2012 with 3 hours to go.
Cheers! Rob
Welp, we're home from Springfield. But just for a bit. We will be heading uptown to the restaurant to have a wee bit of a celebration of the ending of the last year of the world and to welcome the year that never was to be. Considering the friends that are going to be there, we maaaay make it til midnight......, may not. Best thing about a "bar" in Williamsville is we can have a few drinkies and only a couple blocks from home. No drunks, no loonies. Besides after the bone in Ribeye and sweet potato I just ate, sleep is pretty much the main thing for me now.
Karl- Yes Ray has this cool old piano frame or casing...whatever you call it. Maybe next year he'll pop a picture of it up.
Was gonna say something else but forgot so probably go back tomorrow and reread to refresh the memory. Not using Word now so pardon any mispeelings.
Oh I remember, heard on the radio on the way into town. A towing company in Springfield has a deal. Too tipsy to drive? For $25 bucks they'll give you a ride home in their truck and tow your vehicle home. Now how's THAT for taking any reason away to drive drunk? You don't even have to worry about your car!
See ya'll on the morrow! Be safe!

Evening All,
I actually learned to ski in Austria back in 1973 while my Dad was stationed in the FRG. Now I would probably just kill myself.
Garry- Only resolution so far is to finish my current project. I will probably do more Pennsy signs and I want to do something with my work area, it looks like....
I hope everyone and your families have a wonderful and safe 2013.
