 Evening Dinners!

 Flo, Beer Pleases.

Work Front Sort of a slow day but for as slow as it was, I did OK sales wises. New Glasses at work. They are helping a little I guess. Bifocal part, things on the counter are still hard to read, but for some reason the far distances lens part has helped me a lot? Odd, they are the same proscription, but maybe they did change some?

Far as the new glasses here at the house? I am amazed at how clear the monitor looks! I feel like I have a new monitor or new eyes, either way I am Big Smile

Curt, looking forward to see what you come up with. What you have done so far looks great but something was lacking. One of the areas that standouts to me is where all the trees are located. They do not look like they are growing but just sitting there. Maybe some 1/2 or 1/4 foam?

 See you all later.

 Ken

 Few ideas for Curt.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a decaf for me to unwind before bed...

Been a busy day here.  Got the rest of my Christmas Cards mailed this afternoon, after I got home from church.  I was taking the cards out to the mailbox when I saw the little mail "jeep" coming down the side street so I just walked out there and waited for him to stop.  He had a pile of letters and a box from my son in Chicago for me.  Finished drying the clothes and brought them up and even put them away...  Half of the time I just grab clean clothes out of the basket for a few days before I get around to THAT. Whistling  We weren't able to get all the new mics installed.  Got one in that can replace the one doing some funny things every time it is used...  need a multiple antenna unit, or should I say a unit that can feed the antenna output to several units.  The one we have isn't compatible with the new units...  Only another $450 the church doesn't have but will need to be spent.  Comes from a capital fund, so it just means postponing some other capital project for a while.

Tomorrow is an Open House out at the Museum.  Something new they are trying.  They will have hot cider warming on the wood stove in the office, the heaters on in the cabooses, cookies and other snacks for people to eat, and time to talk about trains.  I will put in an appearance wearing my Santa's Helper hat and my overalls I wear during the Summer runs.  bringing a batch of Butterschotch Toll House cookies too.  I bet Santa himself may be there as well.  I hear he likes trains!

Jeffrey, good luck with the battery.  Didn't you recently replace the battery?  Glad you made it through the test OK and hope the results are favorable.

Galaxy, hope the back gets to feeling better soon!

Oh...  My old Alma Matter made the Rochester News!  This is typical Eastman School of Music stuff, and made me get all choked up.  Eastman becomes Family to the people who went to school there, and this type of thing is why!  http://www.whec.com/news/stories/S2866080.shtml?cat=565  Be sure to watch the video on the page to see the young lady try to keep her composure at this.... Big Smile

Have a great night and know my prayers go out to all in need!

Well the water leak under the trailer turned out to be a loose connection. My niece's husband fixed it in about fifteen minutes.

My father is doing well after his visit to the dentist this morning. He looks like he went a round with Mike Tyson and lost.

Nothing new on the train front. Didn't even run a train today. Thought about it but didn't do it.

The battery in my van has been giving me fits. Two days now that I've tried starting it just to have the battery run down real fast. So today I put the charger on it and charged it up to full. Then I disconnected the ground cable. Tomorrow I'll check it and if it's low I'll know it's the battery. If not it has to be something in the van draining it. I'm betting on the battery being the culprit!

Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

could Gary/Garry be a model railroading name coincidence because I'm noticing lots of gary/garry's around here. I'm a Gary, my uncle is also a Gary, though my actual name is Gett the german version of my name I usually go by Gary. could it also be strange that a couple of us model BN or it's forebearers? Hmm

That made me think of all the 'Jeff's', 'Jeffrey's' I see around, yet you don't see many 'Running Bears'.

maybe if you name your kid or carry a name yourself it switches the MRR gene on lol!

evening all, just stopping in for the night.  Had a very slow day at w**k today, only did 3 vehicles all day long (makes me glad that i get paid hourly instead of on commission).  I'm currently awaiting Amy and the kids to get home (she had to run to the store to get a few things). At that point I can have dinner and start to really wind down for the night.  Got a Christmas party to go to tomorrow night, so I probably won't be on here in the eve, but I may be on tomorrow morning before I head in, but after I make sure that Heather is on the bus.

Been looking at a few things dealing with the CSX Dothan sub (which I will be modeling ) and I have come to the realization that its going to be difficult to model all the various short lines and industrial locomotives that connect in along the way, so the question comes to bear.  What to do?  I am of the mind to not actually model the short line locos as they are rarely around at the same time as the mainline trains, but on the other hand in a town like Dothan, AL (which serves as the mid-point of the division), there are 4 other RR's (all short lines) that run into the city and are normally active whist CSX does their thing too!  Its kind of a predicament, but I think I can solve it.  If not....I'll think of something!

Well, I think I'm going to check on a few other things on here before Amy and the kiddos get home and i have to haul in groceries.

I'll be back later taters!

Evening All,

Had fish for dinner tonight and now drinking a cup of  Decaf.

Off today (would normally be w**king). I finished testing the reverse loop and I have to say it works better now than it ever did. I posted on the DCC thread and Rich and Dave told me what I needed to do and it works great. Basically I ran a power bus from the AR-1 output leads and attached power leads to it from the track after every turnout. I'm not going to do anything else to the track until after the new year (Soldering, painting, ballasting).

Ken- I am thinking about some hilly scenery when I redo what I tore up. You were right, I need more hills.

Jeff- I am glad things went well for the test and hope you get results with no issues. I have to ask, how far are you from the Duck Commander business?

Galaxy- Hope the Dental procedure goes well tomorrow.

Ulrich- That  pastry looks yummyDinner.

Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.

Jeffrey- good to know it went well and that you are still alive...did they, like with me, find that, contrary to popular belief, that you DO, INDEED,actually  have a heart???

Yep! It was however a little bit of a rocky start. They put an iv in my right hand initially but on the way to the next room for the test I somehow broke it and nobody noticed until someone saw a foot wide puddle of blood on the floor. That caused quite a stir! That's one of the things that can happen when you have no feeling in your hands. So they put in another iv, this one in the arm at the elbow. That I could feel a little. Everything else went off without incident.

Got the stress test done this morning. It was a chemical test. Afterward I felt like I had tried tackling a Mack truck with my right shoulder and I had a headache to boot. A light breakfast and a cup of coffee took care of both.

Jeffrey- good to know it went well and that you are still alive...did they, like with me, find that, contrary to popular belief, that you DO, INDEED,actually  have a heart???

Resting as my back is KILLING me. It always does after the injections. Sometimes it seems the cure is worse than the affliction for awhile! The pain and achiness progresses as the day goes on. The pain meds do little to help it seems.

I have the banking and the dentist to pull the tooth tomorrow.

I also have a friend coming to get some copies made so he can get the financial assistance papers into the hospitals for patient financial assistance. That will reduce his outstanding bills and prevent high bills later!

We did that with our favorite network and we got a 100% charitable deduction on our fees from within their network for any fees they charge! That means, that with the catastrophic health insurance MOH has that won't cover much until $1300 deductible is met, MOH WILL be able to at least see our Doctor free of charge!, I encourage EVERY ONE to check this out with their local health networks/hospitals! a simple form. last  pay stubs for MOH and my record of SS deposit on our bank statements is all it took to apply! One other local network DOES even allow for your deductions of bills you owe that reduces your available income! They cover up to 350% above  the poverty level here. {that's $45k a year} {They will give at least a 50% reduction to the top income group.that is still better than not getting a reduction!}

Also, IF anyone is faced with a LARGE hospital bill portion you have difficulty with, ask for the PATIENT FINANCIAL ADVOCATE to see what help they can provide in settling your bill due. THEY work for YOU , not the hospital! They are located within every hospital, but they work for the PATIENT, not the hospital!

Well, now that I have done my duty and informed you all, that completes my public service announcement for today!

Now on to dinner. lean.ham steaks, butternut squash and I think I'll make some deviled eggs, been awhile since I/we have had them.....

have a great night!

Has anyone seen my article in the January MR about installing sound in an 0-4-0T ?  What did ya think?Whisper  Its the first article I've done for MR. I've done articles that appeared in Scale Rails and RMC, and are considering a few more. Just looking for a little feedback.

Good afternoon. It's 55° and sunny. The high will be 58°.

Got the stress test done this morning. It was a chemical test. Afterward I felt like I had tried tackling a Mack truck with my right shoulder and I had a headache to boot. A light breakfast and a cup of coffee took care of both.

My father had gotten the time of his dental appointment changed to 8:30. He had my niece's husband take him there. I picked him up on my way home.

I discovered I have a leak outside the trailer in the incoming water line. So my niece's husband (whom I mentioned earlier) is taking a look at it. I'm thinking it's just a connection that's worked loose or a bad gasket.

Yep, it is that time again, back to work. I close tonight, so I will get home around 10:00 PM. Friday I go in at 9 and get off at 6:00 PM.

My Mother exemplified the term "Twelve O'clock Scholar" very well.

My dear departed mother was the queen of the "Twelve O'clock Scholar" and we too said she'd be late for her own funeral. Smile It drove MOH nuts, we'd have her over for dinner for 6 and she'd show up at 645. MOH finally started to tell mom dinner was at 5 just so she'd get here on time Stick out tongue It worked for a while!

Clear

-22 °C

and the sun is just peeking over the ridge to the east @ 9 am. Joys of living in the Great White North. Oh well, in the summer, it's light till 11 pm at night.

We plug our car in too by the way, not to charge the battery but to keep the engine warm enough to start in the mornings.

Been getting serious amounts of track laying done the last few days. Fiddly darn yard stuff and whatnot. Takes forever what with all the turnouts and whatnot. Oh well, it will get done..

Oh Zoe, could I bother you for a cup of decaff please? Yup decaff in the morning otherwise my hands get to vibrating and I can't get the rail joiners on and soldering.... forget that Super Angry

Thank you my dear!

Hope Jeffery,s Stress test is going ok.....

Well, MOH has the usual Honey Dew list for me so best I get that done before the mobs hit the stores

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe I'll have a mug of dark roast coffee and some of the cherry pastry Ulrich brought in this morning...  Hope it has tart cherries in it, they are ones that are really good for you!

Todd, is there a dance with the song too?

Galaxy, My Mother exemplified the term "Twelve O'clock Scholar" very well.  That was the time of day she arrived at her beauty shop for her 11 O'clock appointment most days...  My Father used to tell her she was going to be late for her own funeral!  She was.  Doc told her she had less than than 5 years to live over 35 years before she died... Hope Jeffrey is doing well with his test...Angel

I best get moving as I have to get over to the church to install the new wireless sytems early this afternoon.

Ever hear of the "twelve O'clock scholar?

Now there is a phrase/saying I've never ever heard before. Wonder whyCool

Dennis

A "twelve o'clock scholar" is someone who is always late for something!

well

Well

I got the left over dishes done and have a load of laundry going. I have 2 more loads to do, but I MUST BE CAREFULL and NOT overdo it like yesterday!!! So maybe I will do just one other load later this afternoon.

MOH is less stiff this AM, bu I be will come home stiff and tired form a bad bcak day. Says the bcak brace doesn't help and rides up and down and all over, so that is a no go.

I moved my dentist appointment to Friday cause i couldn't move yesterday after grocery shopping and all.

Well, Id best go put the washer into the dryer. You know what I mean!

Off to a lie-down after that, though I am not sleepy but just to get off my feet and back.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

Yaaawn!

I just woke up from a nap - old men need a midday nap, y´know...

Chloe, Petra has made one of these:

to share with our friends. How about some coffee with it? Thank you, dear.

Another do nothing day. I have to save up some money before I can continue to build some houses for my layout. It´s getting boring, just to wait before my funds are stacked up a little.

Todd - Navy CIS is on on one of our private TV channels I am not watching, because I don´t like these interruptions every 5 minutes. Talking about a Chilean actress taking up the role of an Israeli girl, but looking like a Chilean, I remember that tall Israeli girl I was dating 30 + years ago. She was from Israel alright, but was 5´10", had beautiful long blonde hair and a fair complexion. She did not look Israeli to me at all, that lady lieutenant of the Israeli Army...  Whistling Met her in Tel Aviv... nice memories.

Off to doing nothing!
